POLL results

Rob claiming he is barely in Eclipse sparked up the "Which is your favorite book of the series?" questions. So, I've put up 2 new polls on the side bar.

The result of the age group poll:
12-15: 76 votes (7%)
15-19: 316 votes (31%)
20-30: 422 votes (42%)
30-35: 103 votes (10%)
Yeah I'm brain dead and jumped to 40-always young: 78 votes (7%)

Katie- everyone has their own likes and dislikes so don't worry about it.

There's been plenty discussions here where our opinions differ.

KStews choice of dresses for instance.

Gozde said...

Himm, I never thought about the off topic. You are right. Should I remove the poll?

And Bella is my favorite character in the books but yeah, I wanted to kill her in Eclipse! Thank God Stephenie came up with Renesmee and explained the stupid need she had for Jake.

bella's mom said...

lol No Goz I think its good to discuss several different things here. It all reflects on our different views and opinions of Rob.

DirtyD said...

Goz- I can't re-vote on the fav books poll since you took it down and re-posted.

I dont think you should remove the poll, its your blog! and its a valid question, i'm interested in the results at least.

Gozde said...

I removed it and then put it back, so go vote again :-)

By the way my favorite is Twilight with Breaking Dawn a very close second. I never understood why people hated it. I thought it was the perfect ending to the series. It kept me on the edge of my seat for the 19 hours I read it. I was crying, I was happy, I was sad, I was scared for my favorite characters dying etc.

I LOVED Breaking Dawn.

DirtyD said...

Well for what it's worth I liked Eclipse the best.

And am looking forward to Little Ashes. I can't wait to see him in someting completely different from Twilight.

Gozde said...

You can't vote again? Ugh! That sucks. Sorry :-(

Ellie said...

Mona--I'm rockin' it right now, as we speak (just don't ask me what IT is, though...) LOL

Eclipse, for me, and I think it's like Stella said. Edward lets loose a lot more. Lots more "foreplay" and anticipation with him and Bella on "The Bed". It's different than in BD, where they're both vampahs and they can just go at it(although that part was very satisfying, I must say...LOL).

La Stella said...

The new poll is a no brainer, at least for me. :)

And Goz, yeah.. I don't understand her stupid need for Jake, but come on Demon Child was just ridiculous. It makes some fanfiction more credible. I wished Jake would have ended up with Leah. SM totally lead me to believe that was going to happen.

Anonymous said...

I heard so many bad reviews of breaking dawn that my expectations were very low going into it and so i was pleasently suprised when i didn't actually hate it!

My favourite is stil Twilight though.

In regards to the other poll i'm most looking forward to Little Ashes. Yay! cant wait for it

I loved BD as well, but I'm a sucker for happy endings I guess. But I just loved how Bella could finally let Edward into her mind and his reaction to it. It was one of the best things she could ever give to him.

Gozde said...

I was actually happy with the creation of Nessie. Their love without a child would not be complete :)

As for Jake falling for Leah. Yeah I would be cool with that too. And I think the biggest reason a lot of people didn't like BD was because at that point we had created our own Twilight Universe and had a lot of expectations.

I keep telling people to reread BD. The second time around, when you aren't shocked at everything is so so so much better.

Ellie said...

goz--I like Breaking Dawn, too. Just not as much as Eclipse. I thought it was a good ending for the series, too. However, I admit that I did make up my own scenario at the time, about what happened to them in the future...It's like Rhett Butler coming back to Scarlett, after the rolling credits ended.

bella's mom said...

No, I liked the idea of Renesmee. That way Bella drew the "family" together instead of pulling them apart. Like with Rose and her and it also gave them all a reason to get along with Jacob. lol.. I'm like Stephenie.. I'm a sucker for happy endings.

Gozde said...

Okay ladies, I'm going to my "Farewell party" at work :-(( And then I'm going out clubbing tonight and I'm pretty sure I'll have a hangover all day tomorrow. So I'll see you all on monday with a lot less brain cells :-))

La Stella said...

Dana.. that was actually what kept me from throwing the book away. Seeing Edward so happy because he could finally hear her mind.

My biggest problem with BD is that there is not enough Edward in it. I wanted to see him interact with Demon Child (even if I don't like her). We only see the burning man, and I dunno.. I feel I ended up knowing more about Leah or even Garret than Edward in that book.

And I also have a problem with Bella having her cake and eating it too. I mean, SM stressed so much that she was giving up kids and that kind of life, and BAM she suddenly has it.

But that is just me, I do understand why people like it, it's just that I'm like Bella in the fact that I love tragic love stories.

Ellie said...

Oh, Dana, I loved that Bella opened her mind to Ecward, too! It made him truly realize that she loved him as equally as he loved her. He always felt that she couldn't possibly feel as strongly as he did. It made them complete.(Oh, I just got a chill and a warm feeling at the same time!). Such happiness.

Jenny said...

God I don't know why I love to read discussions about these books so much, but I do...like the discussions maybe more than the books....

Dani said...

Stella-D I agree with your points about BD. That book opened my eyes to how incredibly flawed Edward really is. I mean you read these books and start to think aw Ed is just the perfect guy. Then you realize he is more fucked up than anyone in the books. He is the most insecure, second only to Bella, he is pained with indecision and doubt. He is not the perfect guy, he fills in the blanks for Bella and visa versa, but that is what being with your match is all about.

BD although I did like it was my least fave of the books. Too much going on and the flaws gramatically and otherwise were apparent, the book was rushed into release and it showed.

New Moon is my absolute fave because Bella was at her weakest but also her strongest to survive through such pain. It was the most honest of all the books to me, and Edwards return was so climactic. The best most romantic return, I could read his speech to her over and over again.

Jenny said...

I too found New Moon the most honest...

Anonymous said...

Stella Twinkle - responded to your jacket question in the last thread. You've convinced me.

I liked Twilight and Eclipse best. But the thing I liked most about Breaking Dawn was that Bella finally got some power. She grew up and came into her own. Being a Mom gave her confidence.

I loved the description that SM gave of Bella burning/changing into a bampire. I've done some writing and her description of that for 6 pages or so is amazing. Most writers wouldn't get past "it burned and she was on fire".

But I really really missed Edward in the last book. SM had better give us some of what was going on with him cause he disappeared. More Edward less Jacob in BD would have suited me.

Rose said...

Eclipse for me, with Twilight being a close second.
"Fire and Ice" chapter in the tent...yes...my favorite.
I don't understand how Rob can say Edward isn't in Eclipse as much...

Anonymous said...

"More Edward less Jacob in BD would have suited me" - AJ

Me too! What happened to the love story in BD? I would have loved more epic romance moments and less baby imprinting.

Katie xxx

La Stella said...

Dani: I never actually thought Edward was the perfect guy. After reading the Midnight Sun draft I confirmed the creepy Edward and his stalkerish behavior. Maybe it was because I read the books just because I knew Rob was playing the part, I dunno.

But yeah, Edward is way flawed. But still there wasn't enough Ed in BD. Like AJ says, I could have gone without so much Jacob in the story. I felt it was needed to understand how he felt about having a kid, and that his love has finally turned into a bampire just like him.

I mean, we read for three books that he feels she is going to hate him after the change, and then the change comes and it doesn't get adressed.

And yeah, too many things happening. Too many weird powers.

AJ-- I answered back in the other thread too :P

Ellie said...

One of the things that bothered me about BD, besides the things you are all saying (which I agree with) is that Edward's a father, but he never truly displays his love for his daughter. Yes, he talks about how wonderful adnd gifted she is, but you never see the affection and undying love a father has for his child.

Anonymous said...

Ellie - I know. He spent the whole of book 2 wanting baby vamp dead then his feelings of being a dad are never addressed again. Apart from the "speaking with reverence" and "god-like devotion".

I bet father-daughter scenes would have been so cute as well

Katie xxx

Rose said...

I feel conflicted about BD. I agree also that there isn't enough Eward...the only parts of it that I can say I honestly enjoyed were the (chaste)love scenes once Bella became a vamp...and the end. When she opens her mind to Edward.
And it did end happily...which I am a sap for.

Ellie said...

Rose--Sappy is my middle name...

Amy said...

Twilight - Awe the beginning. Starting to fall in love with one another...<3 *sigh*

New Moon - 2nd half of this is my favorite. NM is much more emotional and intense. I'm pretty sure I cried a lot reading this.

Eclipse - the complications for everyone and the squaring off with E and J is a good read. And there are plenty of amazing juicy E and B moments with all the build up for BD. Not going to lie though, I was getting impatient with those two...lol :P

BD - I really liked everything that happened. Sex crazed Bella and Edward were entertaining because we have been waiting 3 books for all that good stuff to happen :P, haha all I could say was FINALLY in my head. My only issues were that Edward was put on the back burner at times & his lack of connection with Renesmee. Also I found there was WAY to much wolf drama going on and the fight scene at the end should have been escalated and not so dragged out.

Ellie said...

OMG, Amy, you said IT ALL. Exactly, everything, that I've been thinking and feeling. Wow.
Are you Edward? Did you read my mind? :o

Katie & Ellie - I'm with you on the father-daughter connection which needed to be developed in BD.

Edward has a great capacity for tenderness, protectivness and love and that could have come out with Renesme but we only got slivers of it.

Ellie said...

Mona--Just went back above and read your comment about us braindeads...and Yes, we do rock, baby!

Kate said...

Ok I'm not gonna read through all the comments on this thread because I haven't finished reading BD.
How long is the poll gonna be up for Goz???
I think I'll wait thill I finish BD and then I'll vote ;-)
ATM I think it's between "Twilight" & "Eclipse" !

Kate said...

Duh just saw on the poll it says 25 days left to vote, I should have it finished by then :-}

Emily said...

I know this is a little OT but has anyone checked the updated HQ pics from Germany on here? Maybe everyone has seen it already but this is my first chance today to really sit down and study those pictures in great detail (you know you all do it to) The first one sparked some very impure thoughts. Rob in the Michelin Man coat trying to puff his chest out. But all it's doing is putting the button of his pants on a lovely display. Plus, I think it's safe to say Rob only owns grey underpants.

Emily said...

As far as my favorite of the series...that's so hard to answer. For me, they are all so different it's hard to compare. I love Twilight because it's the beginning and where it all started. New Moon is where Bella and Edward really discover the depth of their love and how they can not survive without eachother. Eclipse is drama and hot bed/meadow scenes. Also I loved learning Jasper's and Rosalie's back story's. So yay for more Jackson in the third movie. Breaking Dawn was a great way to end the series and I felt closure at the end. Of course, I could have used more Edward in it but I'm not sure I could ever get my fill of him.

Rose said...

lmao@ Emily!!

Are you sure they are grey in color...or just from not being put through the washer machine.

La Stella said...

Emily, thank you for reminding me that there will be more Jasper on movie 3. I hope they don't cut that out, or I'll be royally pissed.

I want more sexy Jackson.

Emily said...

Rose - Eww. Hadn't thought of that. Oh well, Rob's dingy underwear is still hot. I be happy to wash it for him. Even hand wash it if that's what he prefers...

Emily said...

I hope they don't cut it out either, Stella. I need more Jackson. I hope they show Rosalie's story too. She freaking rocks in that part.

Rose said...

Agree 100% about not EVER getting my fill of Edward. There is never enough of him...

Just wanted to add that "Midnight Sun" is probably my favorite book of all...at least the chapters that were released. LOVED reading from EPOV. *sigh*

Emily said...

Yes! Good point, Rose. I resisted for so long reading Midnight Sun but I finally gave in and I'm about half way through what has been posted on SM's website. THAT is my favorite. I really, really hope she will finish it soon. I think I heard something about her coming back to it in the next couple of years. Let's hope so. Bella and Jacob have both had a chance to tell their story. Now it's Edward's turn.

Rose said...

Exactly Emily! Why does Jacob get so many POVs...but not our beloved Edward?? I would love for her to put out the whole series from his POV...although that just my silly dream.
I suppose I can wait for Midnight Sun...as long as I know it will eventually be published. At least I have Rob and his movies to bide the time!

Ellie said...

Hi, Rose and Emily!

Emily, you're going to wash that underwear while Rob's wearing it, right???

Midnight Sun also has a special place in my heart. Yes, Edward is stalkerish, but you can really see into this por guy's mind; he's such a tortured little soul.

Anonymous said...

Yeah i'm sure when/if Midnight sun is ever released it would become my favourite.

I've read the chapters posted on SM's website and love it so far.

Edward has such an interesting and slightly tragic view of life. I understand some of Robs decisons on playing the character better now for reading that - like the self-hating parts.

Katie xxx

Rose said...

Hi Ellie!

I feel that Edwards devastating lonliness is the reason behind his actions...so I forgive his obsession. I mean...I definitely understand that kind of obsession, now...don't I? :)

Anonymous said...

lol about the stalker part.

I dont know if i laughed hardest at the sitting on the rocking chair in the corner whilst Bella sleeps bit or the bringing oil to loosen up the window bit. Both are ridiculously creepy

Katie xxx

Emily said...

As long as we have Rob, I can be patient. I'll be honest, I fell for Edward in the books but Rob is the one I'm in love with. None of this OME nonsense. More like, for the love of Rob... I could look at him, listen to his voice, study his face for days and days. Sigh...I have a problem, don't I? I guess it's a common affliction we all share.

Oh and Ellie, you bet I'll be washing those grey beauties while he's wearing them! Not sure how that would work exactly but it may require a hot tub or a shower. I'm sure I'll figure it out...

Rose said...

Yes, Emily...again I agree with you *shock*. My passion is for Robert...and you don't have a problem as far as I am concerned...at least...not here!!!
:D

Emily said...

I think one of my favorite lines in MS is when Edward wants to ditch class to go find Bella and make sure she's okay after the van incident. "Like a stalker. An obsessed stalker. An obsessed, vampire stalker." Haha! Love it! You're right Rose, we wouldn't know anything about obsession and stalker tendencies, would we?

Emily said...

I'm off for a bit. Take good care of Rob while I'm gone. Hands off the underpants!

Rose said...

bye for now, Emily!

Trixie said...

Hi Everyone!

Loving this discussinon... I'd have to say that my favorite book is a tie between Twilight and Eclipse although I did find Bella to be very irritating in Eclipse. I might be a bit narrow minded, but I couldn't really understand why she was so torn between Jacob and Edward. For me, there was never any question as to who I would have wanted.

I did like BD and even liked the book from Jacob's POV especially after SM explained why she did it that way.

I struggled through my first reading of NM but only because I was so upset when Edward left. I have to confess that I was a wreck while reading it. But, the reuniting of B&E at the end was all worth it.

If MS ever gets published, I think it would become my favorite.

Kate said...

You're the same as me Trixie I liked those 2 as well. I'm on Jacob's book in BD ATM and I am gonna read "Midnight Sun" when I finish that but I have to say I do like Jacob now if I had to choose it would definitely be Edward but for a BFF you gotta love Jacob!

La Stella said...

Am I the only one that thinks that SM's writing should have changed a bit for Midnight Sun??

I mean, I liked it.. a lot, but it doesn't have the feeling of a person that has lived for a 100 years. A person that has been arrogant because he has always been right for so long.

Kate- I was suprised to hear she is 5'7" too. But a lot of sites listed that or 5'6". But she looks way shorter than that to me. Plus in the pics with Rob, you are right she is always wearing heals and she's still way shorter than him. So I am guessing she is my height or slightly taller.
