Little Ashes Behind The Scenes and translation

You see little snippets of Rob but the Spanish actors are the ones being interviewed so it is all in Spanish. If someone wants to translate anything important and or pertaining to Rob and post it in the comments section that would be wonderful.

Thanks to mytwilightstar @ imdb for the vid link

Translation thanks to Brittany from tMF and Little Ashes Promotional Blitz we now have the translation.
Javier Beltrán- The character I interpret is Federico Garcia Lorca, one of the most important poets that has ever lived in Spain and well, he is one of those poets that is very welcoming for an actor for all the things that the character can offer and also a very challenging character. We don’t have any audiovisual document in which the actor, I, can base on, to see how he talked, how he moved. Still with all his work, his poems its enough to make a proper interpretation of what the poet, Federico Garcia Lorca was. What has been more challenging for me is when I stop and think about who I am interpreting, the world comes tumbling down. Its Federico Garcia Lorca, the poet that the Franco Regime assassinated, and from there he becomes a myth, a legend. That is what has been more difficult for me. I have always tried to make him human, a young poet, with an extraordinary sensibility and from there, I start creating. trying to dilute the myth because if I don’t my world comes tumbling down and if I start thinking “I’m playing Lorca, I’m playing Lorca, I’m playing Lorca” at the end I collapse.

Marina Gatell- I interpret a character named Magdalena but she is based on Margarita Manso. It’s a character that historically coexisted with the generation of... well in the school where Buñuel and Lorca studied. She was very much in love with Lorca... I don’t know, its like a character I think that is useful and fascinating in history so the good guys won’t be too good and the bad guys won’t be that bad. I think it’s a screenplay about making detrimental decisions in the life of these well known artists and she is a little influential in getting them to touch the ground and at the same time make them dream more.

Wait, is Javier speaking in Spanish, or in Catalan. I speak Spanish, and I don't understand half of what he's saying. Maybe it's the Spanish accent?

he is talking catalan, a spanish dialect. most of the spanish people don't understand it.

How is most of the cast Spanish-speaking only when the movie was done in English? Or at least I thought it was.. from the trailer.
Or was it basically just Lorca and Dali who speak English?

"Most" of the cast isn't Spanish speaking only. They were doing an interview for a Spanish show so of course they spoke Spanish for it.

Bravo! Bravo! Superb! (is that what Rob is saying?) I could watch that over and over. In fact, I did. I can't wait to see this movie!

Beltran sounds so sexy speaking spanish.
Rob looks so intent like he knows what they're saying even tho they're speaking spanish at the table.

That is interesting, Thalia. I speak portuguese and I could understand everything that Javier said. Wonder why... He has the most beautiful accent, by the way.

Thank you so very much for posting this clip, Dani. I am so excited about this movie and can't wait for its premier. I'm absolutely besotted by the characters Rob, Javier and Matthew are playing and urge everyone to try to learn as much as possible about this amazing Spanish artistic movement that surfaced early in the last century before you go to see "Little Ashes".

Maria Gotell almost says "Generation of 27" in the second sentence of her translation. That's what history has labeled the group of artists, musicians, playwrights, etc that Dali, Lorca and Bunuel intellectually associated themselves with as students. The group represents a true renaissance in European art.

The Little Ashes Promotional Blitz website states that the video is in Catalan.

OK. I promise I won't take up any more space on this blog but I had to make one more comment ...

I'm so excited because I think this may be Rob's year to get his first Oscar nod. I guess it would be for Supporting Actor since I've heard Javier has the lead. His interpretation of Dali is absolutely BRILLIANT!

Thank you for posting. I am so excited for Rob. I hope he gets an Oscar nod for this. Hopefully he can continue to pick very meaningful projects in the future. Dying in anticipation to find out what he will film next that's not Twilight related.

I am so incredibly excited to see this film! Not only is Rob in it (so therefore automatically worth seeing!), but the story seems beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time - plus, Javier is quite a hottie, too!

Anyway, I loved this clip... did anyone else notice Rob @ 1:05 when he was seated at the table watching Javier make his toast, and he was resting his arms all over his dinner plate? Haha! So funny! And of course the "Bravo! Bravo!" at the end was priceless, too. He seems so flamboyant in this movie, which I'm sure will be very interesting to see.

In case you don't know - Rob CAN speak Spanish (he mentioned that in some interview) and definetely some French judging from how he pronounced French words (= very well)

Goz, Javier and Marina are talking in Catalan not in Spanish..

Hello Margot~

Actually Rob has said many times how difficult it was for him in Spain during "Little Ashes" filming because he didn't speak Spanish and how lonely it was for him. I live in a strongly Hispanic suburb and can't understand the locals.

Maybe he speaks Spanish the way I do..."un poco." I took Spanish as required in high school and college and suffered--no affinity. My teachers loved my accent (Venezuelan, they said) but beyond verrrry slow pidgeon talk, forget it! There's a big difference between great pronunciation and fluency.

I have great admiration for those here who are bilingual but I have a feeling Rob's foreign language skills are up there with his sports ability!

I'm pretty sure he said that he "speaks" Spanish .... but on the other hand he didn't say how well ... In his school (Harrodians) Spanish is obligatory, as far as I remember. He may know Spanish from school but doesn't feel comfortable with the skills ... whatever :)))
Just another food for thoughts

Hello world!!!… my translation for all you...:D!!! (its catalan...spoken in Andorra and some places of Spain, France ‘n Italy)….

Javier Beltrán:

The personage that I play is Federico Garci’a Lorca, one of the most important poets who existed in good Spain and, is one of those personages very thanked for any actor by all the things that can offer to you… and it either does not stop being a too difficult personage, we do not have no audio-visual document on which the actor, me, can be based… I don’t know… to see as I spoke, as I moved… Of all ways with all works, his poetries are sufficient to make an own interpretation about what the poet could be, about Federico Garcia Lorca. What has taken to me more work is than sometimes if you stop yourself to think about whom you are interpreting…the world falls to you above, is Federico the Garcia Lorca, the poet who was assassinated by falangistas and from this point he becomes a myth and he is here what more work has taken to me. I always have tried to play him human, a young poet with an extraordinary sensitivity and from here beginning to create. We say, to lower the myth cause maybe the world falls to you above and if you begin to think “I’m playing Lorca, I’m playing Lorca, I’m playing Lorca” in the end you collapse.

Marina Gatell:

I play a called personage Magdalena but who is based on Margarita Manso … she’s a personage who historically coexisted with the generation of……well…in the school of Buñuel and Lorca. She was extremely fall in love with Lorca… I don’t know is like a personage..I think…useful and fascinating in history so the good ones are not so good and the bad ones are not so bad. I think is a script to take determinant decisions in the life of these artists so met by all…and she’s a little bit the influence to touch with feet the earth…we would say…and simultaneously the one who makes you dream more.

see you guys!!! kisses and hugs!!!!!!!!
