Calm Down :)

Okay guys, we all had a semi freak out with the news but let's calm down. Rob is fine. Things like these happen in big cities ALL the time. If I were to freak out each time a cab touched me I'd be in a padded cell now.

Do Rob fans cross the line sometimes? Absolutely YES.

Should Rob have better security? Absolutely YES

Am I taking this lightly? Absolutely NO.

Do you think we are the only ones thinking about this? Absolutely NO.

We are not talking about a 10 year old child that needs us. Robert Pattinson is a professional actor with a management company, assistants, bodyguards, umbrella holders :)

He also has a pretty functional brain as we all know :) IF Rob thinks he needs more security, he'll GET more security.(UPDATE: People magazine reports Rob DID hire additional security, see :)

If you still feel like you should take some action or form the : RPattz Fangurl Beat-down Squad AND the Robsessional Guard (Thanks to Mrs. Robinsane for the term) then by all means go ahead.

Also as some said in the comments section, the security on set is the production company's responsibility (
Underground Film & Management) not Summit Entertainment's :)

Here is a little something to cheer you all up:

Update: I know the "Respect Robert Pattinson Campaign"s heart is in the right place but the picture associated with the campaign makes Rob look like a lost child. You can't DEMAND people to respect someone, it's earned. If people are crazy stalkers they are not going to see the "Respect Rob" campaign and all of a sudden become sane people :)

Bombarding Summit Entertainment, news outlets etc with "Leave Rob Alone" or "Increase Security" messages will only endorse the notion that RPattz fans are crazy hormonal women. Let's not give them that pleasure :)

Just my humble opinion :)

i plan on writing to every single person in hollywood demanding they respect Rob and fix all the problems in NYC right now. i will DEMAND it.

that'll show him how "normal" Rob Pattinson fans are.

Also... i got hit by a cab sat. night. no biggie. just brushed off the dirt a lil'

okay back to important things- like ... did you hear peter facinelli needs 500,000 followers by tomorrow?

Thanks for your blogging. it's full of win. I was thinking maybe we could also form the "Rob Protection Program" RPP for short.

anti-crazyfannies
anti-whackopaps
pro-rob safety

Thanks for the Calm-Down, Goz. I needed it. I just think whomever has hired the BG, has not hired experienced guys that know how to work security. He needs REAL security. He has the Elvis "IT" Factor, as I have said over and over. And Summit needs to go study that phenomenon b/c dating, marriage, fatherhood, even death, never dimished his fanage. So Rob may have to hire some private BG to be with him wherever he goes from now on instead of relying on someone else to do it. Let Rob date or whatever, he will still radiate that same charisma that his fans all fell in love with.

Yeah he definitely needs better security. Security with brains. Like what's easier to tackle? 6 girls or cars? I'd say the girls even though they weren't a problem in this case. They should know not to go into oncoming traffic. Stupid guards.

I totally agree. I support all the Protect Pattinson, Respect RPattz stuff. There is no harm in that.

But the real blame lies in the paparazzi media. I don't buy the OK, Us, etc...magazines but it is that industry that has fueled this mentality of "gotta get the shot" stalking that truly interferes with people's lives.

It is a fine line to walk as a fan. I suppose I want to see and know what's going on with Rob because I adore him so much but at the same time I do feel some guilt at eating up some of these very shots and pics that I am complaining about.

Ultimately, Goz you are right. He is a grown man, who is sorting through a very new environment but will persevere.

Who knows if it's true though because they're also saying that the accident happened because he was running away from fans...

Goz- Thanks for the calm down. You actually have a god point- Rob is a grown man, and as such maybe he doesn't want to feel babysat all the time.Do I think he needs more security? ABSOLUTELY. But I am not in on the decision making process so until they come and ask for my opinion, ( like that would ever happen) I have to trust Rob's instincts.

Thanks for being the voice of reason, Gozde!

And thankfully, for me, the Robsessional Guard does not have a maximum age restriction!! ;P

But on a serious note: I become infuriated when I see injustice, whether the injustice is obvious and tangible, or of a more theoretical and ethical nature—and our RP was on the receiving end of both kinds of injustices this week.

No one should be violated physically (the girls putting their hands on him/the bodyguards leading him into traffic). And no one should be in constant fear of such violation (the girls relentlessly hounding him/the bodyguards falling so woefully short in their duties).

I know that as a female, I have been subliminally trained my whole life to be aware of my surroundings and, especially when I lived (for many, many years) in crowded major cities, to assume a certain impermeable posture, when I found myself in potentially threatening situations.

It's unfortunate that our treasured RP has had to emotionally armor himself in a similar way—especially when there are men right there, presumably hired so that he wouldn't have to.

*still waiting to exhale*

Actually, I do not trust the Summit's intentions ... I think that as
long as he can work (stays alive) they are pretty happy with all that
stalking, screaming, every-step-news, they don't give a dmn of him !
It's their PR to allow all that to the sick and dangerous extent.

Thanks for the fine "roundup" reporting, GOZ!

Well, I just got here and having been in large, urban areas my whole life (Chicago, LA) as well as working in NYC on many, many business trips, these little cab incidents happen constantly.

Not to worry.

Really, NOT TO WORRY!

The fangurls, cabs...strictly small, urban potatoes. Rob said it himself...the actual "worry is getting shot," by some psycho such as Mark David Chapman. :((((

Now, off to read comments.

Loisada said...

Thank Gozde for the calm down. I'm going to try and put this in perspective and move on (after email to the prod co. and Summit all the same :-)

But do want to say this first: yes, some cabbies in NY are dicks, but most are big-hearted guys and gals. And I imagine the cabbie who clipped him is feeling horrible, and yet nobody should be bustling up into his lane against traffic. So here are some warm thoughts his/her way, as s/he's probably just as shaken up as Rob and don't want to see an unmerited scapegoat.

Mommamary said...

I think the fear factor here is
1. We fear for the physical and mental safety of our favorite actor. The fish bowl that he has moved into has got to be weirder than any of us can imagine.
2. We fear that this will drive him away from acting altogether and we will no longer have access to his beautiful work.

I, for one, am praying for him every day. He is a real person and deserves to be wrapped in prayers just as we all do.
Be safe, Robbie.
I love me some Rob P. So sign me up for triple shifts on the Special Rob Forces Security Team!

yes he is a big boy and can protect himself. I do still feel sorry for him though. It's like he has no where to hide. Like J. Depp hides out in France. Rob had to be carried out of restaurants in France. Usually people in NY don't really hassel celebs, he gets jumped by crazed fan girls. He just seems so normal so it makes it seem really disturbing.

Anonymous said...

Gozde thanks for the info. I am a native NYer so I know how nuts NYC cabbies can drive. Everyone runs a risk when crossing NYC streets. I am with one of the readers, there should be a law against paps being too close to celebrities. But this is a campaign that should be taken up, not the Respect Rob. Because when you think about it, if people are crazy enough to sit out in the rain, heat, sleet, or snow for just a 2 second glance of Rob, they will not read the campaign and say "Oh you know they are right, I will stop".

She´s a wild child said...

Of course hes not a lost child, but its a fact the production company left him pretty unprotected the first days ( when the girls mobbed him ), hes grown up and i believe hes pretty smart but they didnt see it coming. i dont want him to sit on my lap to wipe away his tears, i think hes pissed because of what happened and i truly think he wants some space. Everybody would feel so and I wished we could make it understandable to everybody.

Gozde said...

Homecomingqueen: I always tell people to back off, not stalk, give him personal space :)

I'm sure all of these are taken under advisement by his "people" and he'll be better protected/protect himself.

Okay seriously going to bed now :))

WTH!!! I was on the road, and hooked up with WiFi at my hotel in where we'll be the next 3 days, and I see this crap! Rob was clipped by a cab?!? WTH!!!! Now, i was supremely relieved he was ok, and no real harm done-but let's face it. This is getting rediculous. Re-DAMN-diculous. His BG's need to be more vigilant and careful, and the crazy ass fangirls need too give Robbie his space where he doesn't feel, or the BG's feel the need to ogo in panic mode! For God's sake-he could've been killed-that BG was exactly right. The paparazzi have learned nothing from Princess Di and others apparently, either. Celebrities are hunted like sport, and Rob seems to be the prey of their choice right now. Poor thing! This is so out of control, and i just don't want anything like this to happen again. Or, God forbid, sonmething more serious. Oh, and if Summit isnt responsible (thier movie production),WHO THE HELL IS?!?! This has got to be addrressed, and i hope after this potentially VERY dangerous event, Summit will. One last note-Rob-you'll probnever read this but i want to put it out there anyway-PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!! No one watches out for you like you-so be careful, trust your insticts, and please be watchful of those busy NY city streets that you are not familiar with. You are a wonderful and precious asset and talent, and adored person by many people who respect and admire you in a sane and dignified way, for the most part. So please know that, and we wish you well, and safe time with the rest of filming of this movie. LOVE YOU!

Hi LovetheLips!

*kiss on Lips*

Gozde=Jasper=brilliance! :)

And I just wanted to add a comment re: Rob's maturity and ability to cope.

Of course, all of us realize that he is an adult (do I EVER!)—and I suspect that the majority of us, even at 23, were capable of taking care of ourselves. RP's circumstances are rather unusual, but he seems well equipped to handle himself.

*"well equipped"... to "handle"..."himself"...so inappropriate, and at such a stressful time, Mrs. R!*

Even if I have joked (WAS I joking?) about my primal urge to, er, stroke his stress away—

*careful, Mrs. R...*

—I certainly intended no disrespect, and I certainly don't perceive RP as a helpless child.

The target of my concern and frustration, at the moment, is the inability, or the unwillingness, of his current security staff to do the job they were hired to do.

Let us hope that RP himself has enlisted some bad-ass experts to replace them.

*Mrs. R still ready to serve, in whatever capacity—WHATEVER CAPACITY—necessary*

Ok... let's review shall we:

1. Mr. Pattinson is not my responsibility.

2. Mr. Pattinson doesn't know me from a hole in the wall. He could give a shit if I'm upset about his safety. He has more important things on his mind.

3. Mr. Pattinson is getting paid mega bucks (I hope) to walk around the streets of NY, deliver lines, live in a trailer in addition to a possibly $900/night hotel suite, etc. He doesn't need me.

4. Mr. Pattinson is not some lost country boy... he from Bloody, F*cking London, England. He's dodged a bleedin' cabby or two, I dare say.

5. Yes, if I thought I could get Mr. Pattinson to look at me ONCE, much less, TWICE... I'd be sore tempted to forget my southern "Steel Magnolia" upbringing and make him an offer he WOULDN'T refuse... but THAT'S SOOO NOT EVER GONNA HAPPEN- is it?

Let's all just settle down with a good piece of FF, a nice cuppa and get over ourselves just a bit... shall we?

I <3 you all... but, please... enough is enough already.

*getting down on soapbox, laying aside megaphone*

Feeling better.

Seriously people, I don't want to be disrespectful, but that "Respect Rob" campaign made me cringe. It just attracts more attention to him - what's everything he doesn't need now. He's a grow up boy, inteligent, smart and I'm sure he's paying attention to his own safety. The crazy fans will continue acting the same way no matter what.
I don't know him personally and I'm just making assumptions here, but I'm almost sure he would cringe too if he knew about this campaing.
Did you guys ever thought that worrying so much about his safety can make you all look like "crazy fans" just like the ones you guys talk so badly about?
The only site about Robert Pattison I read is this one because I think you guys are amusing and respectful, but lately I think people are worrying way too much.

Diane said...

I too, have been "hit" by cabs in NYC in the way that Rob apparently was. It goes with the territory, and I'm the one who chose to step out when I did.

The fact that Rob has to rely on others to guide him, and those others (whose only duty is to protect him)couldn't even do that right is what disturbs me. He doesn't need MORE security, he needs BETTER security. If the bodyguards he has can't protect him from assault by crazy people are collision with vehicles, WTH are they good for?

Treasure_7 said...

Love the video Candyman!! He is sweet!!

katykeene said...

I do agree with all the comments concerning the pathetic attempts at 'bodyguarding' him. Their duty is to see that he is protected and there has been fail after fail this week.
The buck does stop with Summit though Gozde.
They are the ones who have him lined up to make all these films. They are profiting big time off this boys ass so they bloody ought to be protecting it better.
I am inclined to believe that these greedy ba****ds, along with the production company, are rubbing there hands with glee and loving the reaction they are getting from the fans. They would all be saying the same thing "You can't buy this kind of publicity".

Sad but true we are all guilty of feeding the frenzy.
I don't really believe we need daily pictures and updates on every move he makes.
I do think that at some stage this is all going to stop being fun for Rob and he will finally say enough is enough. Will he become reclusive, give the paps a hard time or(shudder) give up acting altogether?
Who knows, but WHEN that day comes and people are giving him a hard time about being another 'upstart actor', we will then see who his real fans are.

Anonymous said...

Goz, put a warning on that "Candyman" video, especially for diabetics, I watched it and then took my blood. It was double what it should be! Gawd!!

Ahem...ok I agree, bringing any more focus on these nutcase fans just makes us all look bad. I don't think Rob thinks we're all crazy "yet"..notice I said "Yet" because if some people don't get a handle on this soon he may in the not so distance future. I felt embarassed just googling today and had to stop.

Okay, so I know I got a bit over excited yesterday. And of course we all know he is a smart man, it's one of the reasons we adore him so. Yes he's a grown man and can take care of himself. And yes he has handlers & people to watch out for him. He wasn't hurt. It happens all the time. All very true.

BUT with that said, it is very frustrating for a normal, sane, intelligent person (and yes I AM normal, not a hormonal freak of nature) to have to sit back and watch this crazy. Some fans go WAY to far. They don't have or don't understand boundaries. I'm not saying we need an official campaign or a movement (although I did say this in COMPLETE jest.) I think if we can use blogs or Twitter or whatever to make people aware then that is a good thing. It's educating people. People have died before because of over zealous paps. Princess Diana. And what feeds the paps is the desire of the fans.

As far as writing letters or emails, as long as they are thoughtful and intelligent, I think that is a very good healthy way for someone to express their frustrations. Summit has not treated that boy properly. It's just a fact. And they have continued to underestimated the craziness of some individuals. They, at the very least, should be protecting their assets. I see no problem in fans letting them, Summit, management, whoever, know that we don't approve. If it helps him, great. If they ignore it, fine, people tried.

I am NOT condoning the sending of pointless ranting hate mail to anyone. But a professional letter expressing dissatisfaction is perfectly acceptable. After all, the right and ability for one to express their opinions is what makes us free.

Tks for Calm Down I really enjoy it :) I agree with you about several points: YES Mr Pattinson is a BIG BOY, YES he is surrounded by body guards, assistants, managers, others actors, etc ...etc ... etc ... but ... why not give him some space to breath? Let's still around to admire him ... like good (and civilized) fans we are, ok ;)
