I guess it has started when she dropped the award! I had found her introduction to the trailer completely awful (she looked almost bored) and was getting annoyed at her... and then, she did the cutest thing ever while recieving her award.

I like Kristen's dress too. At least she's keeping it real, and not trying to be something she's not: she's a 19-year-old girl with a vaguely rebel attitude, not a glamourous Hollywood diva. Go KStew!
I have to admit - I cannot stand Kristen. She always (well most of the time) looks pissed. I understand that its horrible to get all this attention, especially when you are shy. However, Rob is also shy but he manages most of the time to at least look friendly (and his situation is the worst from all of the cast). I think, he also was very nervous at the MTV Awards but definitely managed to give everybody the feeling that he is thankful and lucky - he even was funny. What I want to say is: There must be a reason why everybody loves watching Rob at everything he does or says. This does not apply on Kristen.
When I saw her introduction before the trailer at the MTV Awards, I really got angry. So many people watched the awards only because of Twilight / New Moon (including me) and she made an impression as if her movie is the greatest shit of all time. It's clear, that not everybody is that happy go lucky type as Taylor, but must she always leave a bad taste in the mouth of the fans?
By the way, I also think her acting in Twilight was poor - although is seems to be caused by the horrible directing of CH. (Maybe that's only an excuse, because Rob had the same director and I think he did really really well.)
Recipe for unproductivity: being compelled to watch DVR recording of Mtv awards after viewing these photos. And then repeatedly swoon and 'ooh' and 'aah' over Rob.

Kristen actually smiled quite a bit in pictures that night. There are several pics of the awards posted on other sites where she is smiling. It doesn't seem that she smiled any more or less than Rob did. He was snapped with a "I'm going to go ape-shit if one more person takes my picture" expression on his face as well.
Just coming to Kristen's defense a little I guess. I get tired of people overanalyzing her to to find a reason to put her down.

I'm amazed lately to find systematic Kristin Stewart bashing on this board every time a picture of her is featured. Rob obviously counts her among his dearest friends, which is enough for me give her some respect (or at least the benefit of the doubt!). She is barely 19 years old, for God's sake, and clearly one of the most envied and hence despised women in the world right now. Do we need to pile on here too?! Yes, her nervousness makes her seem wooden, and she's no good at doing the fake smile. Does feisty necessarily mean ungrateful? Can't believe I've come to feel the need to defend her, but the constant attacks are just too easy and transparent. (Steps down off her box!)
Oh funny, I didn't notice this the first few times, but when they introduce the NM trailer - Rob is so obviously reading from the teleprompter. No polish, no smile, no pause - just being dingbat Rob.
With anyone else that might seem a bit awkward and off-putting. But he has such an air of grace and elegance about him that it doesn't matter (not to mention he was gifted with that disarming, sexyass voice!).

I love Kristen...she looks great. I hate when yoou see these young stars all dressed up like they're 30 years old. She looks the way a 19 year old at the MTV award should look. Cool shoes, kind of edgy with the dress. I just think she's uncomfortable having her photo taken, that's why she's not always all smiles. I didn't smile all the time either when I was 19, too busy hating society, rules, etc,...

I understand you because I sort of feel the same for Nikki right now. I don't love Nikki, but the poor girl gets bashed all the time now, she can't do anything right.
I saw the mtv movie awards with a friend -who is not a Rob fan, nor a twilight fan-, and I can tell you that her attitude before the trailer did not go unoticed by my friend though. And she did not become all tingly like me during the best female acceptance speech...
Then again, Rob gets criticized too because of his attitude that gets misinterpreted -well, that's what I believe^^

I have to say I am long time supporter of Kristen. I guess it's because I get her. I'm a shy not wanting to be the center of attention type and it comes across to others as being unfriendly, snotty, bitchy, etc. Half the time I'm nervous and don't even know it.
I hate it when people tell me to smile. Makes me just want to punch them rather than smile.
So on Kristen's behalf,she's had several fan encounters where they've said she's been nothing but sweet and friendly. She's not Rob and not going to handle the spot light the same. She's even admitted that she's akward and knows it. Great example the MTV awards. To me that takes humility to admitt.

I see a lot of myself in Kristen. I was very much like her at 19, and even now at 37 I get flustered and tongue-tied if I have to speak in front of people. Ironically I'm a teacher so I speak in front of people all the time, but a group of kids is very different than adults. Because Kristen's known for toking, people just assume that's the reason she's like that. Surely she's not high every time she does an interview or program. I'd think if that were the case Summit would have fired her. Fact of the matter is, Rob loves her (platonically or otherwise) and he seems to be a good judge of character and has a good moral compass, so KS can't be all that bad.

Liza - you hit on something there. I think the reason these feelings are so different from those you usually feel toward a celebrity is that I do think they have a basis in reality.
We have seen so many hours of Rob's reactions in interviews, candid moments, etc. If he weren't such a spontaneous person, more likely to blurt than to play it cool, we wouldn't have such a glimpse into his personality. That doesn't mean he couldn't have horrible traits we don't know about. Ted Bundy was a real charmer. But his refusal to be "media-ready" and just say what he feels is a rare dose of realism coming from a star.

And then whammo - he had me.
Liza - right again. Edward. Rob as Edward. And then after seeing him in action - Rob. His giggle and totally unrepressed laugh. His self-deprecation. His hilarious observations. His generosity to everyone (but himself). The way - when someone asks what people don't know about him - that he says he's "really cool". I could go on forever.

I totally agree with you Pet. I want to like K, but she is a horrible actor and I don't get all the excitement over her. I don't mean to sound cruel and hurtful. It is just so frustrating watching her act. her voice, face, body language NEVER reflect any emotion at all. She always looks like she is distracted and waiting for someone to feed her the next line. She is stiff and absent looking. Everything I have ever seen her in is like that. I can tell by the words she says in the script that she is supposed to be full of angst or scared or sad. There is no emotion present at all. I just don't get it.
And I noticed at the premiers and award shows last year, she had a better sense of style. She wore cute dresses with designer shoes and hair done beautifully, etc. What is up with the change this year? Is she just trying to be like Rob with the disheveled, casual, travel-to-the-beat-of-different-drum type attitude now? I'm not feeling it.
And the presentation of the NM trailer....if she was nervous, that is totally understandable. But she is supposed to be an actor, so ACT like you aren't nervous. Act like a presenter who is proud of your new project whether you are or not. To me that just says that she is a bad actor. Period. Sorry, K, you are a very cute girl, but the acting stinks.

Momma / Pet, My feelings about K are this:
I think she thinks it's "cool and unique" to be awkward and not the typical Hollywood starlet. Only problem is, it's not working for her because it's not who she really is. I think she posesses some of those qualities, but not nearly to the extreme she tries to show. Obviously Rob has it all the way and Kristen wants to be close to him and cool like he is. I've seen interviews with her where she's considerably less guarded, and she seems really sweet and goofy. Usually, it's when she's next to Rob. I think she forgets to have her "act" on and lets her true personality slip. The MTV NM presentation was unacceptable, but when she dropped the award, it was endearing.
Just my thoughts. I'm not giving up on her just yet. = )

I agree with you too Roblover. No, I am not from GB (sorry I figured out what that meant right after I submitted my question. LOL). No, I am a Texas girl and old enuf to be Robbie Boy's mom. I am not a cougar, but I know pretty when I see it and Rob is pretty! He is hotter than a pepper sprout.
I guess being a mom is the biggest part of me and I see most people thru those eyes. I think K is a bad actress and would tell her the same advice I gave my children. Find your passion and follow it. Whatever you do for a living occupies most of your time so it should be spent doing something you enjoy. If movies are her passion for real, she should find her spot behind the camera in my opinion, like producing or writing. Where she would be comfortable and less stressed, if that is a problem for her. I wanted to like her, still do. But she hasn't given me anything to work with here. She is a pretty girl and I have seen her in a lot of interviews also. She can speak very intelligently and dignified when she wants. I know they were both tired that night, jet-lag, all that and I made concession for that, but her behavior was bad. Dropping the award scared her into dropping her guard for a second and it did make my heart go out to her. I think Rob cracked up so hard b/c he almost dropped his Best Fight one when he first picked it up.
In Speak, that was the most disappointing performance I have seen. It was an important subject, teen date rape, and she never displayed or portrayed any emotion whatsoever. She was just as blank and lifeless as she was in Twilight. In the book, Edward had to learn to read her face and her eyes b/c he could not read her mind. In the movie, there was nothing to read. It was all a blank page.
I really don't intend to Bash her. She is just a little girl. Just stating my own observations.

I have to say this, and I am not a fan KS, because I don´t care to watch anything from her outside Twilight Saga, not like Rob, that I am his fan and I care for any other work he does.
I don´t know what K/R are.. that is their busyness; but I like how they are to the public in general, they are both shy, Rob seems more friendly than KS, but he is a guy, we are women and we judge hard on another woman, so we think of KS as an spoiled child sometimes (I admit I do)..
Beyond all that, as I was watching the MTV show the other night, I noticed other celebrities, how they are when presenting or accepting an award... And I noticed Rob would never stand being just himself, not playing a part and present an award the way other did, he would do it like at the Oscars or as presenting the trailer, you just know the guy wants to run away.. the same goes for KS...
Then accepting award, did you see Zack Efron?, I don´t know him too well, but the only moment I saw him as a human was when he was shocked that he was given his award with Eminem in Bruno´s butt and from shocked it passed to angry, his moment in the spotlight was stolen; and then he composed himself and said something "nice" to ruin it at the end showing his big ego saying "you keep sending me up here getting this awards" ... heelllo you only got one and no body cared, funny thing is that it took more notice Rob´s breakthrough that the actual male performance award..
Then Myle Cirus.. my gooooood, I thought that girl was on crack.
And those two are example of media trained people, so horrible.. I don’t know if they are good at their work or not, I haven´t seen any of them, but they are just too vein.. and too caught out in the Hollywood machine; while we may critic K or R awkwardness, but we know they care to do their work (good or bad, but just to work) and when they are then self in the spotlight you see them as they are and they are not comfortable in front of it, but I love that.

Well, Show, maybe she will improve with age and more experience and better directing. But then, Kevin Costner is a pretty bad actor too and kept getting bigger and better roles somehow. We have to be careful that Hollywood does not dictate to us what to think and they try to all the time. For instance, they refer to certain actors as "beautiful, gorgeous, etc, like Glenn Close. Seriously, Glenn Close? She is a very good actor, but beautiful? No, not really.
Rob, on the other hand, commented once that he had a director tell him once that he had the most expressionless face he had ever seen. Don't know who he has been looking at but I think Rob projects more emotion than I have seen in Hollywood in a while. In the T books, SM constantly describes E was smiling without it reaching his eyes, or face blank with just the slightest tightening of the eyes, etc. and I think Rob did all of that and does that in interviews too. But then, I believe he has a natural IT Factor born into him that will follow him all his life. Twilight did not make him like this, he just has it. Good for you, Rob.

That was meant to be "live" not "life." How anyone could call Rob expressionless is beyond me. He is so incredibly expressive and his features are so capable of conveying subtle emotions. Someone commented that they'd seen him use the same expression in one movie as in another, and I thought at the time, we all use the same repetoire of expressions all the time - how could he help that?
But in a way, because his are so striking, he may get criticized for "acting" the same more than once cause his expressions are so memorable.

I've been guilty in the past of saying that Rob uses the same expressions repeatedly. And I agree that we all have a 'repertoire' of expressions that we access, but I don't necessarily think that Rob has gotten to a point yet where he's just utiilizing his 'repertoire'.
I'm still convinced that he's trying to find himself as an actor. I think he's capable of much more than the 5-6 expressions that he uses right now, but needs to learn how to pull that out of himself. And in time, hopefully he will.

I think it was you Show, about the use of the term 'love'.
And it's pretty funny because that's only really used by lower class people here.
It's a very common thing to say (and I don't mean popular...) and is usually said by cockneys...
So I guess it only sounds attractive when someone quite posh says it as a sign of affection.

Well, I only have two expressions - one that looks besotted and bedazzled due to Rob, and one that doesn't.
Show, that does not surprise me. And even Rob has said more than once that he had just seen Into The Wild and loved her performance so that was why he wanted to work on Twilight. But, she was awful in that movie too. And this is my opinion, but I am not alone in it. Dare I mention Kevin Costner again? Bad acting does not keep you from getting a movie career. It should, but it doesn't. But then, we don't all like the same movies either. Oscars often go to the most horrible movies of all. The English Patient, The Entertainer....good for napping or boring someone to death...but best picture? It is a puzzle, that is for sure. So, I like what I like, I like Whomever I like and don't let Hollywood or Washington DC tell me what to think.
That's what it's like here in Texas, girls. And we do love us some Rob.
