Kristin Scott Thomas is great.

Uma Thurman not so much (the last movie I saw with her, "the accidental husband", was a biiiiiig disappointment - her acting was veeeeery poor and almost ridiculous). I'm not sure if she can pull off a part like that :(.

(I liked her in Gattaca though, but this was loooong time ago.)

Uma Thurman? Huh... I actually can't see that. To me she doesn't fit (with Rob). Nicole Kidman would have been good... but Uma?

kespax said...

Oh fuck yeah, she's Tarantino's muse - one step closer to making a movie with T, would love that. & Thomas is wow.

Ok, Uma is my husband's Rob. At least I will not have to drag him to the theater. May be awkward watching both our top freebie 5's getting busy, tho.

YAY I'm excited! I wonder if Rob had a choice in any of these co-stars? According to Wiki, Uma was born in 1970 and Kristin in 1960...this is looking better and better!

KST..... !@!@!@! This movie is turning out to be a fantastic move for Rob.

Such smart choices for his post-Twi transition. His taste, culture and insight are shining through and serving him very well right now! ALmost gives me goosebumps to think he is just going to get better and better and better...

Uma and KST? Hot, robert...HOt!

i haven't seen much good from uma thurman - she was embarrassing in accidental husband. i like k. scott thomas though! co-stars like her could inspire rob to new actorly heights.

pauleta said...

people just wait and see, you can't compared her character in her last movie with this one. Actually it's more appropriate to compared it to the period role she did in liaison dangereuse. there she was great.
The age difference here is needed. The character rob's is going to play was kind of a cougar. He dated aristocrate women to leave up to the hight society. I think the choice here 're good. If he can deliever this role he'is going to have a lot of new interresting role in europe. Here kristen scott thomas is huge and every director wants to work with her so they're going to watch this movie.

I think it is very telling that KST agreed to join this picture. She is an awesome actress. The last thing I saw her in was a flick on video called "I Have Loved You For So Long". French with English subtitles.

Rob... I hope you spend as much time with these people offset as you do onset... because KST is an ACTOR with REAL CHOPS and you will learn alot from her.

If you keep choosing quality projects that attrack quality performers and directors... you're going to be okay. I'll be watching! LOL!

Mwah!

I am very happy for him.
First the trailer of Remember me, which looks just great. I think it will be big success for him!
And now annoucement of these two great actresses for Bel Ami. He started his after-twilight career unbelievably..

Last night was very depressing for me reading all the critic review of NM and bashing over Rob's performance. And I think Rob himself is partly to blame as he chooses to play Edward in that stoic way...

Also so many sites posting Remember Me and mock that Rob plays a rebellious young man in romantic drama, AGAIN.

I would like to think this is a great news. Uma was good in Dangerous liaison but it was sooooo many years ago when she and Keanu Reeves were both fresh faces...

Anyway. I don't know how many people here on this board have watched NM but I am just a bit sad at this moment....

Wow, both gorgeous ladies..I can't wait~!

RAAAAARRRRRRW! Lucky ladies! I'm available if you are going strictly the older woman way!!!!

@quipang

I have not seen these reveiws you speak of... but would not surprise me. Twilight is pure teenage cheesecake, after all. Rob is going to be allowed to do what the Directors want him to do. Period. Edward's character IS a bit stuffy and stoic... and even though he'd like to kiss Bella... he's afraid and reserved and blah, blah, blah. I'M AFRAID to see the big kiss in NM... because in the trailer it just looks like two people mashing their faces together- yuck.

Besides, how can Rob be getting such "bad" reviews for a movie that he's barely in? Questionable.

Mr. Pattinson's best years are ahead of him. Thank God.

Unknown said...

yeah i read a couple of those reviews too and like actually wanted to cry over how mean some were about rob.but then i realised that these people are all film snobs and would criticise it reagardless of quality, its all biased crap!the other thing is that these reviewers all think the twilight thing is stupid and havent read the books so they dont get how dead on robs portrayal of edward is!plus everyone in the cast and his directors always say how crazy talented he is!even SM said on oprah that its amazing how he changes into character.the fact that edward and rob are soooo completely different says it all to me.he hides that playful rob side sooo well you cant deny how great he is.but you only see that if you know enough about rob and edward!and these guys also called kstew bad so they must be idiots coz shes like touted as the next jodie foster and loved by all the directors she works with!sorry just had to get that off my chest!phew!!!

pauleta said...

Sarah, the review aren't really bad when is come to the acting part.
Most of them are just saying that the movie ha no substaince.
Edward has no personnality. So rob can't do much about it. this is Meyer's fault. I like the book but let be honnest they're poorly written.which is a shame.
the main character bella is a marry sue. She doesn't have annything in life that she is interrested in beside edward. That's just wrong. She is self depreciating to a point where is ridiculous. She 's always during this movie in need for a guy po pic her up and fix her. That's not good for a 18year girl to be that needed. Especially we never get to Know what she finds so interresting in edward.
I don't understand either why this guys find in her because in the book she just makes me mad that she can't stand for herself and be a independant woman, a natural woman.
Here in france all the critics said the only quality of this movie was his cast.
I have been reading a lot of praise for Kristen. People thing she makes meyer's bella bearable thougfull, soulfull even strong at time.
Everyone is also saying that the relationship between edward and bella is rush. The chemistry is there but they want to see a more playfull side of them. And i agree with this whe sould have seen them at least 20 min before the breackup scene.

i cant believe Rob is going to have to get jiggy with kristen, oh yuch!
dont like her, and she looks like his grandmother...

as for Uma, she's totally cool, i love her. and its true, tarantino loves her, and rob loves tarantino.

as for all the bad reviews, i dont care, this is a fun movie, and it will make huge coin at the box office. i'm on the fence myself about Robs acting, just cause i find him beautiful, doesnt mean i cant be realistic about his skills. i will be watching his career as we go, if he turns out to be just another pretty face, i will always have a special place for him in my heart.

Finally, a movie with Rob that will draw out the 30's and over (and their significant others) which is a pretty big audience.

This will be a great movie, just great ! ! It is good that he gets to do movies for the younger audience as well the the 'not so young' audience~!

I really think Rob has a great career ahhead of him. Some films will be winners and some losers. As long as Rob's happy then that's what's most important to me, not how many oscars he may win.

In the end it's the fan's opinions that matter, not the critics. The Twilight saga is what it is & there isn't a lot the actors can do with those characters. If these critics read the book they would know that Rob actually plays Edward a little less stuffy than he is in the books, at least in my opinion. Edward is a pretty uptight character after all. Not only because he's a vampire but also I think the era he was born in & also it's just his personality. I can't wait to see Rob play characters with more range so he can explore all kinds of emotions. I have faith in his ability to do that. I'm gonna love all the older woman lovin' in Bel Ami...that's gonna be so hot! lol Can't wait!

I'm so glad to see that Rob is going to be making a movie with two older women. This is break him out of the "Edward the teenager" mode and will let him show his acting ability more.As for the older women, I say, YES, it's about time, Rob can now see how great it would be to be with an older women, after all, he did say that he's open to anything, right? Even though it's not real life and only acting, it will help to let people realize that age IS just a number. It's not the number that matters, everyone is different and at different maturity levels. And, yes, if they need any stand-ins or doubles, I'm available, Rob!!

haha seems like Rob just wants to do a lot of sex scenes lol.
Uma Thurman?! NOOOO!!!!
HATE her!

Who's Kristen Scott Thomas?

Angela said...

Uma Thurman was once married to Ethan Hawke. She was considered very sexy in the '80's.

I've been thinking that Remember Me looks so much like Reality Bites (an 80's flick mentioned on this site before), and then the Uma connection, it's too funny.

Rob was just a baby in the 80's.

Anybody remember there used to be this gossipy guy who used to say "Oh my Uma Thurman Hawke" as an explicative? It was too funny.

Anyway, her tata's look great in that pic and I'm sure she is still stunning. Yay for the cougars!!! (although Uma if born in 1970 would not be 40 yet, so not technically a cougar)

Interesting choices... I wonder who will play Suzzane?

Of course critics are going to hate nm, no sorprise there...

For people who are saying remember mr is just another young love story... They are so fucking wrong and have no idea what they're talking about..

Emerging briefly from my MIA status (my friends are here and I'm not spending much time on my laptop, just saving Rob news and videos for later) to say that if this is true, I'm happy: I love both Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas! :D
