I like how that video was done, it's blurry enough to not be trashy/seedy. I don't really understand how people are thinking less of him (have read a few comments like that now) - it's just a photoshoot! It's a mens mag, I think the naked ladies are agiven (yes they're skinny, but that's models for you). I still think it's tasteful, it's not like he's groping or fake-fucking them, not that that can't be tasteful of course.

Estgarzo, women have been objectified since the beginning of time, sadly this little fact won't change with this magazine photo shoot. for all we know he might have felt strongly against this, but as he mentions in the interview that in comparison to all the shit that is out there, all the nakedness that is everywhere...this is at least artfully done. He doesn't even think his Mama will object too much of this shoot!

Rob is GORGEOUS as always but i don't like this white jacket. And Rob has a strange face expression, like somebody was forcing him to be there, and take this shoot. And this models looks like objects, you don't even see their faces only bodies. They could use greek scalptures instead of, it will be much more interesting and beautiful. And i don't like the whole idea of this shoot, my first expression was, oh my he looks like the young Hugh Hefner,... oh wait but the third bunny is missing. So the best shoots are when he is alone, or with a dressed girls.

They sell what they need to sell because there are people who buy it, and there is where we are: we can say no to that, we can stop consuming it.
Of course the models weren't forced, but they don't see this thing like me or you, maybe they just see it as "a job, fame, money..." i guess they don't think beyond that. Maybe they don't see any problem in it. And that's the problem: sexism exists because we all women allow it.

well this video was just great. for the negative comments...he is a 23yr old actor, he is NOT edward cullen. He does not have this "golden" image to uphold. He is going to do what he wants, say what he wants and do whoever he wants...and this article and photoshoot proves that. I love him for who he is. I read many of the comments about the photoshoot and the interview and all I have to say is that I’m completely disappointed..
Come on girls, it’s Rob; the same Rob who was yesterday before the photoshoot came out. You can’t be that easily affected by an interview. We have all seen lots of recorded or live interviews where we can see Rob says what he thinks with his own mouth. We always liked him for being the honest, simple, down-to-earth, thoughtful guy he is.
Rob is not Edward Cullen. He’s 23 and he does everything a 23 yo guys does. He smokes, he drinks, he has sex, he has fun. That’s the real Rob and we all knew that before this interview.
The interview is for a men’s magazine so the author can’t write it in sweet way like she would do if it was for a teen magazine. Her writing style doesn’t change who Rob is.
As for the negro comment, some of you stayed at the fact that he said ‘negro’. Did you even read the rest of the interview to see how and why he used the word? If you had, you would have understood what he meant and that he’s definitely not a racist.
Rob is neither 17 nor Edward Cullen. FACE IT!!!

Wow! I slept in this morning, got a few things done and then came to see what was up on here. So much.
First, Robert Pattinson is a beautiful man. Both photo shoots are beautiful and artistically done. I will be buying both magazines.
Second, as many have said, he is a 23-year old man. He is real, he is flawed, he is complicated, he is conflicted, he is dealing with more than any of us have/could/or would want to. He will make mistakes, he will misspeak, he is human. HE IS NOT the fictional character you fell in love with. HE IS NOT Edward Cullen. Get over it.
Third, Details is a magazine for men. There are always naked women in the magazine. It's not going to change. And 99% of models are too skinny. Have you not seen any models before? Get over it.

It seems to me Rob created a character for this photoshoot:a bored man, without any thrill, empty stare, he feels nothing looking directly to those models but... when he looks direct to the camera, I feel that Rob is looking directly to me (us, public), he needs me (us, public). It is my (our) attention he wants. These photos when he is looking to the camera are my favorite ones.
I don`t intend to read the "interview" because I don`t waste my time. I think it isn`t "Rob" who is talking it`s one more character he creates for these "interviews". I love Rob , just the way he is: a good actor, a funny guy, smart, clever, ambitious and extremely sexy, that`s why I like to listen to him, not reading these "interviews".
Oh! I hope Details has paid him very well. He deserves that, he is very cool. I love Rob all the time!!!

on the one hand, i'm very worried about not hurting anybody, i don't want to say something that may upset somebody. But, on the other hand, i would like to express my ponit of view freely. Like i said, i'm not a girl who has "blind faith" in Rob or in somebody else (even myself) so, when i see something that i don't agree with, i'd like to say it. But i feel like i can't do it here. I think over and over it before i write things which i know they won't be accepted, and most of the times i even write it.

Wow, some people really need to get a clue on how to read and interpret the meaning of things. Do people really not understand what Rob is saying? Is it that difficult? Some things are symbolic, some are literal, and sometimes one has to look deeper than what one sees at a superficial first glance.
As for the photos, they're hot, and pretty well done, but I can't disagree that they may be somewhat objectifying women. Now, was that Rob's idea and did he understand it? Probably not. He actually implied that he was a bit uncomfortable with it. I really think Details was trying to be tasteful--but they probably don't even understand. But that's showbusiness for you--modern culture expects stuff like this!

The bathtub pix are the sexiest pix I've ever seen. Something really sensual but also so intimate. Him sitting on the toilet with the towel in his hand? Almost lovingly.
I have to say, I wasn't thrilled with the interview. Nothing Rob said was wrong, but I felt the interviewer was making herself a lot of the story itself. I went with Rob to a restaurant, I told Rob about a sex shop, I was asked by Allen Coulter to look over the script. She was inserting herself into the narrative of the story and that's pretty much a no-no in journalism.
Anyway, I think these photos are beyond beautiful. Yeah, the models are used as props, but then that's what models are. And this is a men's magazine. It wasn't going to be like the Harpers' shoot with Rob on his knees in front of a woman. Different audience = different takes.

I saw all the outtakes. They were even more artsy. This photographer is brilliant.It was like looking into Rob's mind or something. The images were blinding, colorful, twisted, sexy, dark,and lighthearted. There was also the double and triple images that showed him going through a number of emotions. Kind of like having a split personalty. This was sort of deep and the vid was amazing. HOT HOT HOT...ROB PORN. Hmmm...yummy.
I am tired of all the hateful comments - love Rob or hate him, you can't have it both ways. Trust me, Rob won't do anything he doesn't want to, we have seen that in the past AND he is neither gay or racist or disrespects women! Wow, not liking the negative stuff at all!
Personally, I found this shoot to be incredibly beautiful and tasteful.
Love Rob's apparent ennui here---just like art, we all interpret things personally---and I feel it actually highlights how unimportant that kind of glamorous life is to him. This is how I perceive Rob, right or wrong---disinterested in all that. He's not hamming it up, it's not crazy-orgy time, it's simply a reflection of Rob's own (beautiful) self. Again, just my opinion.
As for the naked women---and being a pretty strong feminist---true freedom lies in choice. They chose to do this shoot and there's nothing wrong with that.
And I don't find nudity, like this, at all offensive. It's creative and artsy. They have the appearance of live mannequins actually---and in a way, are props (but again, by their choice). I'd love to have one of these prints hanging in my house! (The one with Rob's "painting"!!!)
Truthfully, Rob is one of THE most beautiful people on the planet---even unclothed women can't compete with him.
Lastly, the interview---I would never want anyone to think they knew me solely by my comments posted here. Think about what and how you post. Is that all that you are?
Regardless that I found the interview fascinating, I very much doubt that the words in this one interview are the sum total of Rob.

Rob isn't and never has been 'the boy next door' ... he's quirky, unique, fiercly intelligent, unfiltered but kind,gentle and above all HUMAN...Don't knock it...So let him lose a few fairweather 'fans' he doesn't need them. I find him even more fascinating after this photoshoot/interview....and we STILL don't really know anymore about him...he is a master at saying so much and yet giving away so little....just fascinating. As for the negative publicity on Rob of the Details shoot+interview, it actually surprised me. It was certainly an interview of exposure, but I never saw that in a bad way. Not for one instant did I feel like he was being controversial, he was just being himself, exposed and humane, instead of depressed and gay. Maybe people just don't understand him- but to me he's a very relatable character, I can mirror a lot of his thoughts and views to my own. Completely agree with lizzibee on the matter.
@Lizzibee, the most apt description of Rob I have ever read, including his being a "master at saying so much and yet giving away so little...." How true, yet many of us have been guilty at one time or another of forming opinions based on how we think we know him. I admit I've done it, and will do it again with the words "I think" that Rob goes two ways: He can be incredibly thoughtful when speaking about things he cares about or he is stream-of-consciousness without any filter or forethought to what he says. In the case of the Details interview, with the added benefit of 4 beers, he was the latter. To have whatever the hell he said related back in print from the POV of a rather unprofessional self-serving journalist (IMO) makes this interview confusing, incoherent, and discomforting. For me. All day I have been trying to put my finger on what bothered me about the interview and I think that sums it up. The fact that it has caused a firestorm and Rob backlash just sucks. Rob is human, a good, well meaning one, (I think)and I can't imagine he would ever purposely say something hateful or hurtful. And, yes, sometimes he is an "idiot", as he has said about himself, but a well-meaning one. And how I love him for it, not to mention that he happens to look like an angel ;))

I too cannot have 'blind faith' in any actor, even our Rob. But many of the ladies commenting here are very smart and, I think, recognize parts of him which superficial people just don't. I thing Rob is a keeper, a truly authentic soul.
And, don't get me started on sexism. Our world is so full of it, it is so systemic, that we women should be more aware and be more responsible for trying to stop it. So, you go, girl! Even the smart ones here shouldn't mind a little reminder.

@Lallieb: I love what you said. True, I can only speak for myself, but it is easy to form opinions of what we think of Rob, and then judge. It's part of the celebrity world. It's a weird house of mirrors and we sometimes think we know someone like Rob.
However, some of the thoughtful people on this blog, who listen to and read interviews, and take Rob as a complex human being, I do think they know at least something of his authentic being. It just comes across, shines out.
Which still allows for him to either reveal little or be just a tad too candid sometimes.
Sarah, you took the words right out of my mouth. Rob is a normal 23yr. old man and I feel like I've seen one more side of him with this interview. I'm still a fan and can't wait to see what his future holds. He has such a reverence for his profession that his voice drops to a whisper whenever he says it.
Wow. Just wow at what I missed today. Jessiegirl, I agree with most of what you said. We women should be more aware of the sexism, and it is so prevalent even we don't notice it sometimes. It's a fact of life, but it doesn't mean it's right. My take on this article is like a lot of people, this writer wanted to sound cool hanging with Rob. Not impressed at all, and I take any interview as how the author edited and spun the interview. If I read right though, sounds like Rob was not all that comfortable with all the naked women, but dealt. He did an amazingly sexy job obviously. that vid, whoa. Smokin hot. He is truly sex on legs.
The women, yes it's their choice, but the choice is made easier by the fact that they can make more money taking clothes off than using their brains. Unfortunate.
But let's not forget, we all want to see Rob naked, so hey, are we any better? LOL. Rob is using what God gave him and so are they.
All in all, tasteful and hot in my opinion. But I agree, the wrong one is naked in these pics. hehehe

After reading almost all the comments, after some thought, I feel I have to post something.
Not taking anything away from Rob, I didn't much like the shoot either. I have not read the interview and really have no interest in it. Don't know why. It does not however affect the way I view him personally .... umm, not that I know him personally. I think some are missing the point, naked women or not, tastefully done or not, I don't think Rob chose this theme. Looking awkward, looking uninterested or not, he was probably TOLD to look that way. Is it not the photographer that directs everything and the look of the photo? Can't really judge Rob on that. I could be totally wrong though.
He is still wonderful, a wonderful actor and I look forward to his upcoming projects.
I just want to say to EstGaZo and others who do not speak English as their first language.. Bravo!

wasn't going to comment but then thot why not.
Let's celebrate the facts, he is a 23 yr old, independent, freethinking, self depricating, self taught method actor, career focused, very determined and making decisions about his longevity and ability to make the big bucks.
He is not contrary to some printed perceptions, a lost man or unsure etc etc, otherwise he would not have moved from the UK to the US to forge himself the career that he has done so. He makes his own career decisions and while some of the things he says seem a bit off, he is a Brit and his language use is very reflective of that, he says what he thinks and that should be enjoyed as refreshing and not misconstrued as no doubt it often will be.
SO if he wants to do naked shots then lets enjoy them for what they are, if you don't like the naked women then don't look, but while some people are happy to get their kit off and make money from it then this imagery will always exist. I for one did not have a prob with it but I was mostly looking at him I would admit and he looked hot. There was much less interest when Harry Potter went on stage naked in the horse thing.
So I say long live the Rob and I will continue to enjoy his creative expression in whatever form it comes and come along to this site and blog to keep updated and share similar thoughts.

I guess this topic has been exhausted but I enjoyed the video even more than the stills and am going to add my one cent.
As regards the ‘controversial’ aspects of the interview – it depends on whether one wants to take everything he says at face value, or not. One can believe Rob and, by implication, Jenny are racists, intending to cast slurs, or not. Likewise either one believes Rob is being literal and is actually allergic to vaginas and by implication hates women, or not. I don’t think he is a racist or hates women. However, that won’t change other people's beliefs, especially those who may be eager to view Rob in a negative light. As for his putting comments out there – he may forget that his sense of humour and eye-rollling don’t always translate into print – but he also is an intelligent adult. I think he knew this photoshoot and interview would ‘upset’ the way people may perceive him, and he refers to his need to do just that in the interview itself. He’s not trying to make people hate him – but he doesn’t want to be seen as simply one set 'image.' I think he can own what he said, and will deal with the consequences. If he feels the need to clarify or apologize to those who might have misconstrued, he will. If he thinks he doesn’t need to – he won’t. This has all been said so I'm only echoing other views.
I have to admit I am fine with seeing Rob walk a more of a tightrope. Most of the artists I find interesting have done the same. His intellectual curiosity and comments about being a ‘medium’ make me very hopeful he’ll remain someone to watch.
A good V-Day to all, and gonna re-recommend "Imaginarium." It's the most coherent and one of the funniest of Gilliam's films. Waits is great, Garfield and Lily Cole surprising. Plug over.

As for Rob, apart from the fact that he's insanely beautiful, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE his mind. He's not some stereotypical, generic Hollywood hunk who flatters everyone by telling them what they want to hear. He has a mind of his own and thank God he's more than capable of a) using it and b) happy for his thoughts to be 'out there' and makes no excuses for them.
He's a guy who would rather be honest with himself and others than pretend to be someone he's not. However, unfortunately, he has no control over those who see him as someone he is not.
If people are after a hot, young actor who tows the line then Rob is not your guy.
If you want a guy who's as deep as puddle and boring as fuck to boot, then Rob is not your guy.
I can only hope that fans respect Rob for who he is and those who cannot or will not are left to mourn this ideal that he never was. Rob's under immense pressure as it is and trying to live up to this 'Edward' ideal totally sucks and perhaps this is his way of addressing that.
Rob is not perfect. But he's pretty fucking amazing if you take the time to try and see him for himself not some fucking ideal that only exists in your own head.
Just reading back through some of the comments and I'm nodding my head at AP's comments. I thought it was interesting how he was so up for the S&M bondage to test the waters of people's perceptions of him etc !! lol
The amount of times I've read/heard Rob talk about how people only love for him for being Edward just kills me. I think he needs to feel as though he can be himself without feeling under pressure to be someone he's not and make no excuses for it.
At the end of the day, people will think what they want to think. If they have pre-conceived notions about Rob or what people mean when they use the N word without comprehending the context, then there's not much Rob can do about that. He could of course pretend to be everything people require of him but fuck me, I'd hate that and would never want that for him.
People will no doubt ask about what Rob meant in the future and it's up to him as to how to reply to such questions. It's been a funny couple of days and I feel quite sad for those who no longer feel that they can adore Rob as they did, simply because they were never willing to see him clearly in the first place :(

In fact, we objectify Rob all the time. But we also, in this very humane blog, humanize him, admire him and feel for him, so I guess it's complicated.
We have to remember it is a print interview: Someone mentioned that we can't see him perhaps 'doing eye rolls' or something, during this interview.
Yeah, we can't see or hear him, and in interviews it makes such a difference to perception.
He's made funny comments in TV interviews before but one could see by the mischievous look on his face he was having us on. At least those attuned to his brilliant mind could see that.
And, as so many here have said, he is his own man, not a company man or a boy with few ideas. He's an intelligent, thoughtful, and sensitive man, too complicated for morons who don't look past the obvious. He's also a bit raunchy, has an irreverant view of the world, and needs to be true to himself. He knows that.
All those things make him a target for foolish, resentful people who don't care about him as we do.
I can tell you I'm completely hetero and if I had dicks at eye level for even a few minutes on a photshoot, I'd be saying things that would make others question my orientation.
Well, it hasn't been as fun as usual but it's always interesting.

Lallieb, for Robert working for Summit since the beginning of Twilight, I'm sure he knows what he's supposed to do concerning everything he may do outside the saga movies (other movies, photoshoots, interviews). I don't know whether Summit will be pleased with this Details shooting and interview but Rob did it anyway: either he knew he was allowed to do it or he didn't care (cos we know he doesn't like to be told things lol).
Although the Details Outake Video has been put down! that's too bad! anyone still has it? or do you think we may someday see those outake in stills? some of them were awesome.

I guess my first mistake was thinking that we were all adults here. Who cares if he poses with naked women or not? Those photos are beautiful and they were taken by an incredibly talented photographer. I love that he's become a "bottom feeder" to some for posing for the photographs.
Also, as a photographer myself, you should know this, although the vision may have been the photographers, Rob has every right to say "NO" to anything he isn't comfortable with and he didn't.
The idea that someone would no longer be his fan because he is doing something that a 23 y/o man has every right to do it laughable at best.
He isn't Edward Cullen people, give him a break! If I were him, I'd shave my head and long for the day when I didn't have to be him anymore. Hopefully he'll get through Breaking Dawn unscathed, but this thread makes me question it.
