Robert Pattinson Autographs Guitar for eBay Auction Benefiting Midnight Mission In Los Angeles

Robert Pattinson walked into Norman's Rare Guitars in Tarzana, CA, and started playing a new guitar when spotted by storeowner Norman Harris. Harris, a longtime advocate of LA's Midnight Mission, asked Pattinson if the star would be willing to autograph the guitar for the charity. Pattinson graciously agreed, and even conceded to having a photograph taken with the signed instrument for authentication.

(PRWEB) March 11, 2010 -- Robert Pattinson, the teenage heartthrob popularized by the Twilight film series and star of the new romantic drama Remember Me, opening March 12, was browsing through the eclectic inventory of Norman's Rare Guitars in Tarzana, CA, and couldn't resist picking up a brand new Fender Telecaster and started to play. As a very talented musician and easily recognizable celebrity, it wasn't long before store owner Norman Harris noticed Pattinson. Harris, whose store routinely attracts movie stars and Hollywood power brokers alike, struck up a casual conversation with young Pattinson when the thought occurred that this was an opportunity too good to pass up.

Harris has, for many years, worked very closely with LA's Midnight Mission, a charitable organization that provides basic necessities to the homeless, including counseling, education, training and job placement across the greater Los Angeles basin. The high-end clientele of the vintage guitar store allows Harris access to some of the most popular celebrities in town, including Tom Petty, Richie Sambora, Jackson Browne, Los Lobos and REO Speed Wagon -- all of whom have played in charity concerts coordinated by Harris on behalf of the Midnight Mission. Harris knew Pattinson was one of the brightest stars of the new decade, and couldn't resist the temptation to ask for an autograph -- not for any personal collection, of course, but to be auctioned off for the benefit of the charity.

Fans that have followed Robert Pattinson for any length of time know of the actor's reluctance to be photographed or sign autographs. Pattinson's reputation isn't that of a snob but rather a professional who's a little bit shy and timid, and more than just a little bit private. But, music hath charms to soothe the savage beast, and playing music that day in Norman's store seems to have brought out the very best and most compassionate in Pattinson. Not only did the star sign the guitar, the shy persona took a picture with it -- simultaneously verifying its authenticity while multiplying its value by at least a factor of 10.

Pattinson autographed the Fender guitar back in December 2009 and the charity had listed it for auction on eBay shortly thereafter, but it simply didn't have the funding or manpower to support the auction, so it was canceled. It wasn't until recently that volunteers raised enough money for the Midnight Mission to properly promote the eBay auction, and the timing couldn't be more perfect; the auction now coincides with the opening day of Pattinson's new movie, Remember Me. Look for both the movie and the auction to open Friday, March 12.

Okay So I have now seen the movie 4 times today and it is spectacular. My appreciation of Rob ( already at a an all time high) is now even higher as an actor. There were no tell tale mannerisms that we know of him so much. Maybe a few pouts but really he looked and acted differently to anything I have seen before. Two Sex Scenes and 1 great hallway kiss scene with lots of hair pulling (This movie is so going to rock FF, can't wait to read the lemons on this)

Good morning/afternoon

@Kazbar - :-) Congrats. He is fantastic in it, isn't he. I was blown away. Can't wait for the Eclipse trailer. Way to round of 30 co-workers for Saturday, that's what RememerMe Saturday is all about.

From the article: this is simply not true, "Fans that have followed Robert Pattinson for any length of time know of the actor's reluctance to be photographed or sign autographs." When he is in his RL, yes, but when he is promoting, he goes out his way. Very cool that some lucky person will get a autographed guitar.

Actually it was really funny seeing the Movie so many Times. 90% of the Audience were 30+ women and a few Men here inAustralia. Very few teens!! Didn't feel so alone.

Ok lets get to the bare bones--last I checked, the bidding STARTED at a grand or something like that...I wonder what rich person is gonna win it. I know its a bidding war-I dont understand how they can "withdraw" it. All they have to do is post the pic and pay the ebay fee. I dont get it-did I miss something?? Im glad Rob is doing it though.

Love those long, sexy fingers!! I see RM tomorrow and 11:30am-earliest showing in my town! Can't wait. At least Roger Ebert gave it 3 stars! A lot of reviews seem way too personal of an attack on Rob. I was shocked at the lady from EW as she gave NM a good review but blasted RM??

ok... I've never really been into all the "finger porn" that so many of you seem to relate to... but OMG... this pic of him holding the guitar is obscene! Just how freaking long ARE his fingers... gah!

however... may I say that if the boy truly has a package to deliver... I would sure like to see some "proof of life"....

ifuknowwhatimsayinandithinkudo....

still pretty though.... (sigh)
