Robert Pattinson Filming Water For Elephants in May?

Hollywood prop shop helps re-create the past...

At Jim and Pam Elyea's company History for Hire, rentals are backed up with research. The North Hollywood firm has survived by avoiding debt and specializing in hard-to-find historical props.

The movie: an adaptation of Sara Gruen's 2006 bestselling novel "Water for Elephants," about a veterinary student who quits his studies to join a traveling circus.

The scene: a group of students, circa 1931, on the campus of Cornell University.

Jim Elyea's task: to make sure the briefcases the students are carrying look authentic when the film begins shooting this May in Santa Paula, Calif.

Read the rest of the article about History for Hire HERE - it's really interesting.

Hoping this means we'll start finding out more about Robert Pattinson and this movie soon - no rest for Rob!

Ooooooh - Santa Paula! That would be great if they filmed there because it's less than an hour from where I live. I wonder what buildings they will use in that vicinity that could substitue for Cornell. Can't wait to see this film, and a depression-era circus plus RobJacob come to life!!!

I wonder if that's why Kristen was out house hunting.............her man will be coming back soon.........hope so.

I am worried for Rob having to film in LA with little rest between films, but WFE will be a huge boost for him. I'm still reeling from the fact that he GOT it. This will be bigger than Bel Ami and put Rob seriously on the map. As much as I want to see him recognized and celebrated for his acting chops, I don't want to lose him. I don't want him to become a Leo, Johnny, or Brad like movie star. Is this wrong?

when does Bel Ami wrap up?

Brooke Moss said...

Ooooooooooooohhhh, can't wait! This will show his acting chops to the world even more than he has already!

YES! Love that book. Loved him in Remember Me... I am going to be blown away with this one.

I absolutely loved this book and I love it even more when I found out not only they were making a movie of it but had a great cast including the one and only Rob! I definitely can see him as Jacob and the part suits him very well! I am interested in seeing who they cast as older Jacob and the ring master

Hi girls (NB's) Wensdazzled, met SuzyQ402 from High Anxiety today. We had brunch and gabbed for 1-1/2 hours. Loved it and her too. She is great. She says her and Steph write the story by sending back and forth to each other, then posting it.

She comes to Robsessed daily to check out the pics and vids, but sounds like she doesn't do the comment section. I am trying to convert her. She knows all the Rob words. -snicker- of course she does. She is a total fanatic as we are. Check her out, suzyq402. We live very close to one another. So glad to find someone near as crazy about Rob as I am....
It really feels good. Just like coming her daily. Love and Hugs to all.

It's Edward being completely emo and anal because everyone else is having sex all the time...and Emmett is a total frat boy...

I was laughing so damn hard I was crying. IT IS BRILLIANT.

Loved the book. He will be great in it as Jacob. Love the name, hehehe.

Suzy said Bel Ami has Rob naked in the beginning. WOW, just wondering how that would look. Glad it's European. Keep it naughty.

THUD.

Aww, I wish he could have some rest before start filming WFE.
Though I'm jumping 'up and down' like a little girl waiting for all his non-vampire movies...

By the way, these 'comments' are so much fun, ladies... so wrong, yet so much fun... (hope it works)

I have the score on my ipod already...I listen to it at night when I go to sleep & wake up to it in the morning...it's just breathtaking!

AP said...

@Solas: not dogging yr footsteps here - well, maybe I am but coincidence. :) Bel Ami supposed to be finishing up in Budapest about a month before WFE starts filming.

May with a question mark? I thought it was 'common knowledge' its filming in May. Oh, well. lol

@Netra: Christoph Waltz playing Augustus/Big Al. The script is not exactly like the book.

HeartThePretty_EvenMore said...

I am with you @rubydynasty. I am a short drive away too. I would love Santa Paula filming. I have family there. I feel vacation time coming!
I loved the book and I think Rob is perfect for the role. I can't wait.

lallieb said...

Hope the script does not diverse too much from the book (AP?). Still kind of concerned about all Rob has on his plate in the coming year.

lallieb said...

Interesting that there are many new commenters on the threads. Did RM bring them out? No profiles at all. I hope this is not becoming a Twihards site? Just saying...please no. I'm seeing less of my favorites on the threads.

solas said...

OK, so if Bel Ami finishes a month before WFE, hopefully he will have a few weeks to rest before he has to prepare and train.

Capitu Santiago said...

lallieb ~

I hope you are not talking to me...

I'm here because of Rob ONLY.
=/

AP said...

@Lallieb: I think the script, still being modified, keeps all the central conflicts, relationships, developments and arc of the story. Just a number of incidents shortened/ellipsed and a few excluded. The character of Old Jacob doesn't figure as frequently, whereas Augustus and Blackie are more predominant, subsuming the characteristics of Big Al. Going to be a challenging but engrossing part for Rob. Very physically demanding role...

Netra2121 said...

@AP Thanks! I didn't realize that they would be the same person. I knew Christopher was casted but I didn't realize that he would be big al and august. I just had read somewhere that they were looking to cast the other villian but maybe the article was wrong

Kathy S said...

I would think all Rob fans are welcomed but do some view this as their exclusive place??? What's with that? Get your own blog if you think you can be selective to Goz, Kat, and Kate's blog!!! Sounds a lot like high school to me!!

Netra2121 said...

@ lallieb I am new to commenting but not new to the site. Don't worry I am not a 13 year old twihard, I love the twilight series but I love Rob even more!

Netra2121 said...

@ Kathy - I agree I don't think this site is selective or should be selective and like you said we have least of all have any say who can be here. Whether you are young or "seasoned" whether you like just twilight and edward or is obsessed with Rob we all share one thing in common. This is a place to have fun and chat not to be judged

jmm4832 said...

lallieb, I think the same way. I don't want Rob to become another Brad P., George Clooney or Leo in terms of attitude. Now Johnny's another story. He's pretty much out of the whole Hollywood scene but still is an excellent actor.

Poor Rob - the tabloids are going to bug the hell outta him in So. California.

AP said...

@Netra: they were still casting for Blackie, and Diamond Joe, I believe. Maybe things have changed again but the last version I know of, early March, didn't have Big Al. Augustus was both the owner/ringmaster of the circus. A script is only a working blueprint as far as a film is concerned, though Richard LaGravenese is one of the best...

Is he also going to do Unbound Captives?????
When the hell will he fit that in????? When he needs a while to prepare for that one.

Kristen has been house hunting Delle????
Hmmmmm I didn't hear that.

I saw Reese Witherspoon gushing about being in the movie with Rob............pretty weird that she played his MOTHER in Vanity Fair and now she's his love interest in WFE, right?

NB thoughts!!! Gives a new twist on the term mother f****er.

Sorry I went there.

Unknown said...

Do we start calling him Robcob?

(I honestly don't feel good about him being named Jacob)

Eli said...

I hear that Bel Ami filming wraps up April 20 and WFE filming starts May 22 (Don't know if it's legitimate. Source: http://www.acting-auditions.org/2010/03/auditions-for-robert-pattinsonreese.html ). I know actors usually arrive a while before filming begins to prepare and stuff but I hope Rob at least gets to spend his birthday at home with his family!

Kimmie said...

I just read online that supposably the character that Rob is portraying in Bel Ami is gay...

that information is wrong right???

Unknown said...

no..he's role in Bel Ami is amoral but not gay.

Kimmie said...

Thanks.. I was like no that information is totally wrong. lol

bonemama said...

@Kimmie The stupid tabloids have pictures of kristen at a gas station and said oh shes house hunting. Who knows they didnt take a picture of her with a realtor or in front of a house.
Sorry got off topic. Rob will definately be squeezing in all these roles in a short time. He can handle it...but i think we all get worried about him getting burned out.

Delle1 said...

@femroc,

I think Bonemama saw the same article as me about Kristen......but whatever, hope Rob can get a break between films,he certainly needs some downtime......
have read both BelAmi and WFE because Rob's in them and absofrickenlutely loved RM......

I'm here for Rob as well, no matter what role he's doing! I've been here for over 2 years, I'm a new commenter, 38 and not a kid, but it takes an emotional charge to usually get me to comment. You ladies are so creative when you speak! :) I might be a little boring.

Eli said...

@Mika They sure are, aren't they?! So creative that it's a little intimidating... I might be a little boring too. No actually, I AM. :)

Loisada said...

Evening all.

Santa Paula is interesting news. I'm sure Reese will be pushing for it as it's virtually her back yard and she could live at home. It's also just a hop and a skip from LA, yet far enough that the pappz shouldn't be constantly on Rob's heels.

This could be the death of me: SP is just down the road and I pass through regularly. I already feel a set stalking vibe coming on!!!

Kimmie said...

Now I got few more books to add to my list.

Just to comment on what was said earlier - we welcome everyone here.
I hate putting people into catagories like twihard, twimom, robsten nonsten coz I don't fit into any of them myself(and I'm sure a lot of you are the same) I'm simply a Rob fan as I'm sure all of you are and that's why we are all here. ;-)
With that said let's get on with the Robsessing!

HeneciaD said...

kate totally agree with you we are all robs fans why do we catogarize ourselves

Chloé said...

Brilliant cast in my opinion.

noisefaidaus said...

Loved the book WFE! I can see where this may be a role that is ideal for Rob.
I loved RM, but it looks like some fans can't see Rob as anything but Edward Cullen since they didn't turn out to see RM. WTF is that all about anyway??

But not to digress I'm glad Rob is keeping busy he needs to keep non Twilight projects out there to avoid being type cast and he does seem to enjoy working.

If he has a relationship with Kristen Stewart and he ends up filming WFE in California then maybe being closer to her will be relaxing enough and as good as a break from working?? (LOL)

nellieduff said...

I just finished reading this book. I loved it and think it's translation to big screen could be phenomenal. I had no trouble whatsoever inserting Rob and Reese into these character's shoes. Casting of August good too. I'll be very interested to see how the rest of the cast fills out. I think Rob will be putting in some gym time for this movie, yes? What weird melding of names will we come up with here? Robski? Robob? Oh, boy...

solas said...

kimmie- the part is definitely not 'gay' in our present day useage of the term, but remember that at the time BelAmi was written and translated, 'gay' meant 'happy'. When I first started reading real literature at the aage of 11 or so, I loved 18th and 19th century English literature, and 'gay' was the term for happy, lively, as a 'gay party'. Nowadays, if a child (or adult) who is in the thick of modern culture and terms reads such books, the reader would get a pretty twisted idea of what was going on!!!!

kate--for the most part, I agree with that; I certainly am just a Rob fan. The concern some might have, and thus may feel the need for categorizing, especially after Remember Me came out, is when people are fans of Rob only wth regards to their attachment to the Twilight saga and its characters, meaning they like Rob only for being the embodiment of Edward and nothing more, and then do not go to see his other movies, or show interest in himself other than his being Edward.

nellieduff said...

Just putting my 2 cents in... anyone who has supported Rob in ANY of his endeavors is a Rob fan. I love everything about him and everything he's done, but if something is not your cup of tea, it doesn't make you not a fan. Welcome to all, I say. I only recently started commenting here also, although I've been frequenting this site for over a year, multiple times a day, daily... Remember Me brought out a lot of passion in a lot of people, so many lurkers found their voices, me included.

netra-How about the one and only Jack Nickelson as Big Al! I can just picture him with a big curly mustashe. Rob would get to work with Jack N. which would be a dream come true!

As for nursing home Jacob-how about Geoffry Rush, aged of course!

Netra2121 said...

@Skywaitress- That would be awesome for him and we all know he can play a villian really well...comeon the shinning is a classic! Also I was thinking as an older Jacob either Chritopher plummer or James Cromwell or even ed asner.. he could definitely play the cranky old man well

WhyIstheRumAlwaysGone said...

WFE is a fantastic book - I really loved it, couln't put it down. I think it's got everything to translate as an amazing film - the plot, the circus, the train, the freaks, the cruelty of the relationships, the hate and love, the dirt and hunger, the ever-present sense of danger ...visually it could be terrific! However, even though I like Reese Witherspoon very much, I seem to remember her character is really very young in the book. Isn't she supposed to be the same age as Jacob? I have the book somewhere - but I can't find it again!

LTavares2011 said...

Great News!!!

Rob as Jacob will be wonderful. He is working with great actors: Cooper, Brosnan, Olin, Burton, Uma, Thomas, Ricci and now Reese and Waltz. It would be marvelous if he can make Unbound Captives this year too. I am so proud of him. It is so exciting imagining he is so happy with all his work as actor and producer.

I love you Rob more than ever. Nothing is more important than you, only you!!!

@Kate, because of my total respect and awe for the work you do here, I need to respond. My "Twihards" comment got a bit of stick here. For every single one of fan categorization you listed, I have been one of those at one time or another. Truly. But I have evolved as the majority of people who comment here obviously have as well, into just being all about Robert Pattinson, not "Robward". See Solas comment(thanks dear) for her explanation. I am just as excited as any "Twihard" fan to see Eclipse, but at the end of the day I'm still all about Rob, his life, his film choices, and supporting him and his. I just would not enjoy reading comment after comment from the Robward faction.
@Capitu, no, of course not you!
@Netra, your heart is in the right place.

lallieb said...

@Nellieduff, glad you found your voice and welcome.

@Mika, welcome too, and you're not as old as some others here, age is not a factor, never any guilt about it ;)

@jmm, you are definitely my soul sister here! Thanks.

@Lois, absolutely a set stalking in your future. I'd be there in a minute, just to check it out, right. LOL

jessegirl said...

WhyistheRum...: Jacob and Reese's character are supposed to be about the same age, and, if I recall, Reese's husband 13 years older.

papagaj and rpattzgirl: God I love that music so much too, esp. the end from when he's at the window to the montage which ends the film. I've ordered the CD and will burn it everywhere. Marcelo Zarvos rocks. It was a strong feature of the film, subtle and haunting.

All, regarding those who comment here: I, too, lurked for a long time. Before that did a lot of lick-'n-saving. I don't have a profile because I'm a very private person, but, as with many of you I started as an Edward fan, evolving, as I watched interviews and saw Rob photo spreads like VF, GQ, etc. Cedric was in there somewhere.

And now Remember Me has blown me away, and I respect Rob big time for the brave choice of producing, for his integrity.

I do have a big beef with those fans--whatever they call themselves--who only like Edward, who are staying away from the magnificent RM because he's not with Kristen (to those I say only "Grow up."). Those fans really are juvenile, whatever their chronological age.

On eye candy grounds alone, they are missing out by not seeing RM. But they are missing also something quite profound. It is their loss. Wheat from chaff, some of us have discussed somewhere.

Everyone has a right to his or her opinion and, politely, state it here, I think Goz, Kate and Kat would say. And everyone has a chance to broaden their horizons, to deepen their appreciation, to learn, as I have, some of the wisdom some others here impart.
Some of the regular contributers who have been around far longer than I have, have so much to say worth listening to and thinking about.

Yeah, it's a total Robfest, but it has evolved, like some of us fans, to become something so much more.

Hi Netra!- Yes! I love all your choices for nursing home Jacob! Esp. Christopher Plummer! I have a secret crush on him!

Also I so very much hope they do not combine the August/Big Al character, that would be unfortunate. I wonder if the author of WFE gets any say about this. I hope they stick to be book as much as possible. Big Al has his faults, but August is definately the evil one!!

If any of you haven't read the book, put it at the top of your list... it is so good!

I think Reese is a great choice as she just doesnt seem to age! I mean she looks the same year after year... if not even better. Paired with Rob who looks older than he is, I thnk they will make a great couple! What do you think?

WhyIstheRumAlwaysGone said...

@jessegirl Thank you for the info! I really can't find my WFE book. Don't know where it might be. I agree with you - the RM score is so beautiful and haunting, I keep listening to it again and again.
