Robert Pattinson's Tyler is Nothing Like Edward

Our friend Maria Lindholm from ELLE Sweden went to a pre-screening of Remember Me and wrote a little bit about if for "The Robsessed":

I saw Remember me yesterday, actually with low expectations – neither the trailer nor the pre-released clips had me convinced. But now I´m very happy – Rob definitely CAN act. The cast is strong, as many have said, little Ruby Jerins is very good and Rob/Tyler's best friend Aidan/Tate Ellington have not received enough praise – he is very funny and brings a lot to the film. Tyler is nothing like Twilight's Edward, Tyler is cynical, angry, violent, doesn´t back out of fights (or sex, thank you very much) but still very caring. Everyone who likes Rob Pattinson will LOVE this movie – but I think I can safely say it goes beyond Twilight fandom as a truly lovely little film about family, loss, friendship and the fact that you should love as much as you can when you have it. Love is never insignificant.

Thank you Maria! You can leave her some love on her blog ;)

@RPG
Feel better today? Am thankful for the good review, and ITA with your post. Why COULDN'T he act. Twilight just one role of many! With more reviews, like Maria's, the general public will get to know Rob better.

Only one week left. I loved Rob's acting in Twilight and thought what litle screen time he had in New Moon was very good. If that wasn't acting, what was it?

Oh my God, Gözde. First you show the wonderful HQs. Now you bring even these photos. Now I can not wait for RM. This is unbearable. And of course Edward is quite different from Tyler. The very fact: how Tyler always looks beaten ;)

Acconati said...

Dunno if it's been mentioned but for any UK New Moon fans, Cineworld are showing it this weekend and week in some cinemas as part of their bafta winners tour (must have missed that win...). Just thought I'd mention it :)

Thx, Maria and Gozde for positive comments for RM. And I do hope people leave Edward at the door...lol

@CL07: I hope you do manage to write something - I'd be interested in reading it - though I know we'll have to wait till Friday. :)

Well, it's not surprising most people don't know anything about Rob and his ability beyond Twilight, as the movies he made previously, aside from HP, didn't get huge distribution. They have only become more widely known because of the terrific fan-based support. After all, I don't think many people know Christoph Waltz for Queen's Messenger or Tristan and Isolde...just for Basterds. Of course, soon he'll be known for another movie as well... ;)

Unknown said...

@robXD Don't talk about beating, please! I think I'll pass out when the people start beating him! Oh so sad! My heart can't take! I think I'll take a paramedic to see this movie with me!
;)

Gwen Cooper 426 said...

Each and every positive RM review just lights up my day! While WE have always believed in Rob, it's great to have others recognize his talents as well!

(Gwen says, "HA!" to all those 'Edward' bashers. She may also be thinking, 'Told ya so!' rather childishly.) LOL.

Good morning, all! ; )

noisefaidaus said...

@ Gwen Cooper 426 well put!
I'm looking forward to March 12 and 13 and 14 (plan to see it at least 3 times.
I find it helps to see the whole movie more than once, in order to see and hear the little details, as well as the the parts you missed because of screamers.

Dessert First said...

robxD: thanks, it's all annie the pushers work!

HI gwen: you got hangover from last night?

Petra Eller said...

For Rob Edward was important . But now only Rob is the best. That is the only reason to stay ;)

Audrey said...

Thank you for the review.
I love read it them, the positives and the negatives too if the are constructive.

Rob demostrate at the critics that he can act.

Rob is much more than his characters. He´s a great profesional.

Good morning/afternoon all!

Gozde, Kate & Kat are my 3 most favorite lunatics in the the world! Thank you all for ROBsessed! ;)

This movie is going to blow you all away. It is beyond words. Like CL, I still can't wrap my brain around how wonderful it is.

Wen - hopefully there will not be too many screamers. this is not that kind of movie. Very emotional.

SO much more to love about ROB everyday!!

jmm4832 said...

I'm gonna go broke seeing this movie, that's how many times I'll go to see it!

modestypatch said...

I don't get why people think Rob is not showing his acting skills in the Twilight movies. To me he transforms and BECOMES Edward. Now that is good acting to me. He gets the character and portrays him exactly how I imagined when reading the books. Anyway, all the naysayers will have to eat crow after seeing him in these different rolls. He embodies each character and is so different from who he is in RL in all of his movies.

@Gwen I'll join in with you and childishly say "I told ya so!" And I will even add sticking out my tongue =b!

Gwen Cooper 426 said...

Hiya, Dessert, surprisingly, no! Lots of water and tylenol works wonders! (There's a BIG difference between "cheap tequila" and the high end tequila! Lesson---never, ever go cheap on tequila. LOL!)

Oh, Wen! Uh, Screamers, drat! Had MAJOR screamers at one viewing of NM. There should be a "plan of removal" for them. IMHO.

Any ideas? (Evil grin here.)

Idea...have a separate showing for people under the age of 20. :) They can scream till their heart's content and we can watch in peace, screaming on the inside while we die slowly and peacefully.

=)

Gwen: I think I must have had the cheap tiguila! The one and only time I drank it I was sick as a dog a few hours after. Gets you drunk quick but never again - I lernt MY lesson!

Hi Angie-K you teasing again? It must be hard not to shout out about RM.

I just hope I don't get screamers, I will probably stand up and shout "shut the f**k up I'm trying to watch" LOL!
I'm dreading Eclipse for that reason.

angie-k said...

@Gwen - I was a spoiler virgin. I had only seen the trailer from New Moon and the shower/water fight. I'm so glad, too! It was great to see it so fresh and untainted! ;)

angie-k said...

Want to shout from the rooftops!

FILTM!!!

noisefaidaus said...

Motrin might help more than Tylenol, has for me anyway.
Now for the screamers yes I have a plan that involves duck tape. However the crowd on this thread changes considerably in about 7 hours so I'd better keep my mouth shut.

Lemonless said...

Hey, everyone!

@Gwen re: the screamers. You know how parrots go quiet when you put a cloth over their cage?

Dessert First said...

angie-k, most will see it before me. I have watched all the trailers as it wasn't worth being a RM virgin.

Lemonless said...

Hey, Dessert! Yes, tiny. That's why I've been circumspect: you never know who's lurking. Paranoid? Much?!

angie-k said...

lol@lemonless! it would look a little suspicious walking into theater with a bag of cloths to cover the screamers... it may be easier to conceal the duct tape!

;)

@wen

After I posted I thought about the tweens getting offended too, but oh well...

angie-k said...

Wen - don't worry about the tweens. I was ready to take out a middle schooler & her chaperone at the Today show. She kept shoving and hitting people in the face with her stupid sign. Don't mess with a NB on a mission!!! bwahahahaha!

modestypatch said...

I know all too well about the tweens. I teach Middle School.

Enough said!

Gaaahhh!!

MMc said...

Rob's been known to complain about twitter and facebook and how it invades on his privacy so much and how fans find out where he is so fast but now his publicity team is really using it to promote his movie.......the RM facebook pages are a great way to promote it and all the twitter reviews and info are great publicity since he can't be on Leno/Letterman this time and do the world tour thing he did with NM and the other members of the Holy Trinity (K and Tay) And Remember Me Saturday is totally being promoted online.

So now - technology is really helping him out a lot. What can be a bad thing can also be a good thing! hmmmm.......the life of a star!

AP said...

@Wen: Red Green, then? lol "I changed, because I had to.." DT Forever.

AP said...

Gwen Cooper 426 said...

LOL, poor screamers, but taking notes for Eclipse viewings! HA!

But, not sure it's...effective...enough. (Dr.Evil grin here.)

Instead of taking candy from babies, how about cell phones from tweens?

"You scream one more time, and the I-Phone gets it!"

(Ahem. Gwen has no patience when it comes to seeing Rob, in peace and quiet, on the big screen.)

noisefaidaus said...

@ AP damn the secret Canadian weapon is out, yes Red Green...LOL!

Gwen Cooper 426 said...

I hereby christen thee, "Saint Roboholic"!

@roboholic Just saying...I'm under 20 and I do not scream!...out loud! lol
Seeing Rob makes me too dazzled! I can't even breath, imagine scream...

angie-k said...

LOL @Roboholic! Really, the tweens need to realize there is no debate. Rob all the way! haha!

I had the bad drama. I knew I had to find something different after a gun clip was found on one of my students and I had to testify in court when a student accused another teacher of abuse...

noisefaidaus said...

@ angie-k lord what a nightmare. I can understand the horror of such situations.
My youngest son was left with a severe brain injury from a beating sustained at the hands of a drunk 15 year old.

Lemonless said...

angie-k: Heavy! I'm guessing not so many elementaries (do you call them that?) are carrying...

@Cla: But you know how to behave. It makes all the difference!

Rob however puts me in my happy place watching in on the big screen or looking at his photo shoots.
The man is a gorgeous and inspirational.

modestypatch said...

@Cla Bozolinas

All in fun...I meant no offense, but I must say, you sound like you are more mature than others your age. I guess you will get to keep your iPhone! :)

@Angie

Whoa! That sounds a little too intense. I did have a student who had to be put in a straight jacket made out of his jacket by a cop! He then threatened to kill me! On that day, I did question what the hell I was doing this for.

Dessert First said...

wens,
all ok. have sent an e-mail back. I wonder if that's his "sex" face? LOL!
Angie is giving nothing away!

jc(britlover) said...

I understand the tween mentality, but I have never, ever had patience with anyone who talks out loud during any movie. I always go straight to the back row, so I don't have to listen to people behind me. There have also been more than a few adults with no theater manners. Not to mention the texters and those who feel the need to check cell phones every minute. So distracting.
I say that as people get their tickets checked a pic of Rob could pop up on a mini screen. If anyone squeals, they get sent to a separate theater, like the aforementioned. hahaha

I guess, deep down, I should be happy for any and all support that Rob gets!!

@angie
Oh, Jeez! Don't you just love it. I'm in the office at an elementary school and had to go to court to testify. I wouldn't work at a middle school for a million bucks! Bless those who do.

wensdazzled by ThePretty said...

dessert when does it open in England?

angie-k said...

@Wen - I'm so sorry to hear that. ((hugs))

I have so many stories. I did my student teaching at a school program in a mental health facility.

@Lemonless - biggest problem I had with the elem. was biting and urinating...

@Cla - we appreciate the inner screams. I do that alot myself!

modestypatch said...

@wen

Rob is definitely a great way to escape from the difficulties of RL. If he only really knew what he does for us all. He is amazing!!!

Unknown said...

@roboholic LOL Oh well, I'm 19 so I won't be a tween for much longer!
I wouldn't even take the phone to the movie theater! Nothing to distract me from Rob!

So, if I can behave, can I got watch it with you guys?! LOL

Thanks for posting this ladies! Just one thing: I'm astonished that this journalist - Maria - who seems to appreciate Rob and who did nice interviews with him (it was in Cannes, wasn't it?) had nevertheless such low expectations about RM. Maybe she expected some maudlin weepy chick flick. So it's nice to hear she finds it really good!

@wens- sorry gf about your son...that is not something a Mom should ever have to go thru...and also

'Thanks for the hugs guys!!

I just finished reading Bel Ami, anyone else read it?' _ Yep! finished it on thurs I think and was blown away! I couldn't believe all the shite he gets away with and in a fairly modern society too!

'If they follow the book at all this is going to be one hell of a movie as well and not PG-13.' Nope. Will definitely be lookin' at a nc-17 rating especially in light of the new scene discovery on the other thread.

Mr. Pattinson is turning out to be a racy little devil! I think he like him some girlies alot! I remember the comment he made about what his Dad said to 'im when he wanted him to go sign up at the Barnes Theatre company. 'That's what you need to do son, go sign up there!' Like he knew what would scratch his itch.
