I see Rob's name is first on the list, you know he's really becoming or should I say has become a mega star, to have his name to be the very first before the likes of Uma Thurman!!

Well Denise...

Georges is the lead character, so it makes sense. And Uma, though very famous, is not a top of the A-list star. She's very close, but not quite.

What will be interesting is to see who get tops billing in WFE. Reese Witherspoon has been a star for longer and has got that Oscar on her mantle. But...Rob is the bigger star and Jacob is the lead character. I'm gonna place my wager here and say that Rob is gonna get it. But by just a hair.

Another interesting thing?
Rob still takes second billing to Kristen in the Twilight films even though it's him that's fueling this worldwide hysteria, not her (and yes, when this thing started, she was more known than he was so naturally, she would get top billing). My guess is, he wouldn't even think of taking that top billing from her. He could though. And if she weren't his girl in real life, his camp might have insisted on it by now. But it'll never happen. He wouldn't allow it.

Well said Nic .......!

Also, about the celebrity thing from a previous thread.

I'll bet a dime ...

Hey guys, the twilights are from Bella's opinion, so she is the leader, anyhow Edward....errr... Rob is the histeria maker. And yes, I think Rob will be the first on WFE list. And Bel Ami...oh, so long waiting till december for you, and for us...i don't know. the big screens are on the premier day in Hungary too (New Moon, Avatar, Alice....so on), but little films - there is no way to know what the film-dealers want to do with our patience. We'd waited for RM for 2 months.
And Nik, i have no problem with you, i always like your little novel-comments, and in many ways agreed with you.(and learn so much from them)

Nik... that's an astute observation. Still, the personal link aside, Rob knows how instrumental Kristen was in ensuring he got this role, and for that reason alone I doubt he'd ever taking top billing over her. He just that kind of stand-up guy.

I'm really excited to see Bel Ami pushed by Protagonist Pictures, who define themselves as:

"Commercially-minded and creatively-spirited, PP is a dynamic company committed to strong relationships with film-makers, investors and distributors."

In other words, they defend their artists while they work hard to make a buck. Weren't they the ones who marketed A Single Man, helping it grab an Oscar despite the low box-office? Great things on the horizon...

I am really excited about this film, and not just because of DuRobAmi's off-the-chart sex appeal (although obviously that is part of it).
Everything we have so far seen screams quality. I'm really hoping that people give this one the attention it deserves. RM had an undeserved tepid to hostile reception, and that was so disappointing.
I shall watch the dawning realization of Rob's solid acting ability from prison, since I shall be incarcerated due to lewd behaviour in a public place (cinema) at the first screening... I suspect that I won't be alone...

I would not call BelAmi a short story. Perhaps a short novel, although not even a novella, but really-- a novel.

AP said...

@fifty: :DD do let us know the visiting hours...and would your one call be to Rob?

@Solas: I agree - it's a novel, although short....I suppose they are referring to the scope of the story, in a sense. Maybe - lol

Remember Me now at c $36.28 international - so wwide has definitely passed the $55m. mark. Onward...

Fiftyshadesofpink said...

@ AP: perhaps there could be a late night NB operation to spring me?

Oh wait, we'll ALL be in there.

Actually, prison doesn't sound too bad - plenty of sleep, someone else cooks, and I could look at RobPorn as much as I liked without hearing tutting noises. Hmmm.

Excellent news about RM! And if someone does not take up BelAmi in the states, I am going to have to rack up the charge cards and go elsewhere. Perhaps a good excuse to meet the expense to get back to Ireland!

jessegirl said...

First on the list! I didn't even notice. I never get passed his eyelashes and wandering mouth sneaking up behing her, and I've seen that photo so often now.

jessegirl said...

Nik...But don't you think that because it is Bella's story and she is the lead character, really, in all of the saga, she would be the lead?
I'm with you though, I think he would be the gentleman and give it to her, if that were the situation.

jessegirl said...

Yeah, Loisida...let's all remember who got him the role in that little film called Twilight.

jessegirl said...

AP...good news about RM's world wide appeal. And some markets are just opening.

Does everyone know about the really interesting blogsite about RM--maybe someone mentioned it here first?
Anyone who likes analyses or who likes to look at things like this in depth should check it out.
There was a really interesting post about the role Art played, for example.
The site is:

Solas...
If they're taking it to Cannes (? is this what this means?) then surely there'll be negotiating for US distribution.

AP said...

@Solas: Lol - vacation in an irish cinema - a first. Of course they will release Stateside - can't resist teasing - but it would be good to know who, as it will signal what sort of distribution pattern is likely.

@jessegirl: Agree - Bella's story and Kristen first attached. Also agree Rob would keep it that way.

Missed the discussion re top billing on WFE: Jacob's story but could be Reese as she was attached first and gave it 'heat.' Might do side-by-sides...

ROBIN C. said...

Wait a moment. I need help. Are they showing it in Cannes? How is this possible, so soon ... but maybe I've just misanderstood .... but if I have not .... how does this things work ... is it possible to try to see it as a part o f common public? I understood that between us there are some nice and very expert ladies that know how this business work ...Please help me ... (I want to see this movie soooo badly I've read the book when I was much younger than now, and , of course I've read it again ... but now ... putting that face on the protagonist, believe me ... the effect is soooooo different)

solas said...

cricella--I haven't a clue as to how any of this operates! I will just sit and wait patiently (or fly off somewhere if it isn't shown in the states)until it is in cinemas, and count on this site for Rob details in the world of film, etc.

AP said...

@cricrila: if you read the brochure - they have a showreel which you can see in their office. Showreels are usually around 4-5 min of footage but may include mockups etc. for showing to prospective buyers/distribs. The movie is still in post-production until December.

Thank you so much!
I will wait patiently!

Nikola, absolutely right.

I don't think he'd give the billing thing a second thought. One of my fave clips of him was when he said he's about the 6th lead in NM behind the CGI wolf!! So not bothered!

Seriously, I hope it does become a media story in future - media do love stirring stories of competition and salaries etc.
