Reelz Channel Interview With The Cast Of Eclipse Plus Breaking Dawn Location News

Reelz Channel was lucky enough to get the chance to cover the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and talk to stars/crew from the film like Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz, Bryce Dallas Howard, Melissa Rosenberg, Charlie Bewley, and Wyck Godfrey. The most interesting tidbit from the interviews? Wyck Godfrey spills that he’s getting on a plane this week to start scouting in Louisiana for Breaking Dawn!

Louisiana??? Yeah, I'd like that too - I'm in Texas.

Brooke Moss said...

Why Louisiana? I mean no offense to my southern NB's, but as a proud resident of the Pacific Northwest, it feels sort of sac-religious to know that they are going to change locations in a major way! The landscapes don't even look the same!

Anyone want to shed some light on this for me?? Put a Pacific Northwest girls mind at ease?? Where is Nik when I need her? :)

MMc said...

I didn't see Rob in this video - but most of the videos don't work right on my computer - is he in this and I missed it?

Femroc--
I didn't see him either. Bummer.

Still wondering about the location thing??

Rhenea5018 said...

Sarah--

I live close to Dallas and have made frequent trips to northern Louisiana for triathlons (Shreveport area). I don't know where they are planning to film but there are many areas of northern LA that look a whole lot like the Pacific NW. Given that an enormous amount of BD takes place inside the Cullen house or in the forest surrounding it, I think the could pull it off. If they needed the sweeping landscapes of the other movies, not so much.

Brooke Moss said...

Rhenea...

Got it. Thank you! I was curious about that. Now I am excited to see what they come up with! Plus, I guess they are filming in November/December, and will probably need the weather to appear milder, huh? Cool! Thanks for the tip!

Vancouver no longer has the tax break for films and Louisiana does have the tax break that they need to shoot the film; therefore, they will shoot it there. You lucky people who live in or near Louisiana. Well, I am in North Carolina so not so far for me.

Marna said...

So the Louisiana rumors are true then. Interesting. I think that's where they're going to film Isle Esme, or maybe some of the Amazon stuff. They can't possibly use it for Forks.

Anonymous said...

Louisana gives huge tax breaks
to production companies to film
there...huge....
It also has everything from
forests to sandy beaches and
tropical and subtropic locations.
antebellum homes, islands,
But mainly it will be the
tax break.

Rob and Mardi Gras could not
be a bad thing.

I always wanted to flash Robert my tits. OH, did I say that out loud? *EG* I'm scheming as I type this~! *EG* LOL

nikola6 said...

Hey SarahBear...

How are you babe?

Yeah. A different locale does make sense to me because in that forth book the town of Forks is very nearly removed from the story. A part from the island it all takes place in the Cullen home and surrounding grounds (and I'm gonna guess for that island, a south pacific locale as I don't think they need to go all the way to Brazil to find themselves a sandy beach and an ocean).

And I don't know about the rest of you, but as beautiful as that home is they're currently using, it did not fit Meyer's description at all in that the architecture was way too modern (I was surprised she okay'd it). I pictured something more turn of the century, antebellum style with a large veranda/porch and columns. Like something you'd find in the...yup, in the south.
And another thing...

In the books, you got the sense that this home was very private, tucked miles away from the main road. Not so in these films as that house has street access (that winding, curvy road passes right in front of the entrance to that house). And in BD you've got werewolves and more than a few blood thirsty vampires running around on that property. Even if they stayed in the pacific northwest, they'd have to find another house. Something secluded. That's it. In the books, that house was secluded and in the films, it was not. Just my take.

As for Louisiana...

Yes, certainly the tax breaks come into play as Hollywood is looking to save a dime wherever it can BUT since Katrina, I've noticed that a lot more films are shooting there when they don't have too. For once, I don't think it's all about the money, but rather, trying to help this shattered area to rebuild.

I mean, if all they wanted was the house and surrounding area that Meyer described, there's many different places they could shoot. Savannah, GA. being one.

When is Mardi Gras? March? May? I can't remember. A friend of mine is from NOLA and every year she sends me beads...so you'd think I'd remember. Maybe because it doesn't interest me? She's always inviting me down for it, but I've passed every time. Nothing more scary to me than a big crowd. Especially a big drunk 'girls gone wild' crowd where 'mob mentality' is just waiting to take over. No thank you.

But I would imagine if they're still filming there when it takes place, they'd have it scheduled ahead of time so they could go play. And of course, a day or two to recover. LOL! But then again...maybe not.

This production is already going to be shut down for at least 10 days to 2 weeks as filming falls right smack dab in the middle of Christmas and New Year's. And if they're filming in the states as oppose to Canada, they're gonna have to shut down that Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving too. Don't think Rob will be making it home to Merry Ol' England this year. Santy Claus is gonna have to come to him.

I just thought of something...

I just figured that they'd go south pacific tropical for the island scenes. But if they're going to be in the gulf, why not go 'carribean' tropical? Which is closer to Brazillian tropical isn't it? Wouldn't cost as much in that they wouldn't have to move the production that far. Hmmm...

Well. Wherever they're gonna film those scenes, if they're very VERY smart, they will not announce that locale. Can you imagine the papparazzi of the world trying to swoop in and capture those two on a beach in varying degrees of undress and in varying degrees of lovemaking? Jesus Christ. I don't even want to think about that.

Oh wait. I just did. And it's given me two pains; one in my left temple and the other in my jugular.

Okay. Three pains.

I forgot the one in my ass.

@Nic.,7:45, I agree with you about the house. I thought in the VF shoot where Kristen is wearing those lovely dress... and Robert in that... dark suite standing outside would be the perfect house. That house looks like how SM discibe the Cullens house. That house didn't fit the book Cullens in my humble opinion.

Did K. get the hair done in NYC? She had that Rastafarian knit hat over her hair at LAX and appeared to still be long and dark. She looks gorgeous, the little glamour-puss!

Another reason to film in Louisiana in November/Dec is that it will be warmer for the shirtless wolves.

Cheeky Chops said...

Well, good luck with that. Instead of sand, he's gonna have oil in his @ss-crack. LOL

Loolith said...

Actually, the winding road they show in Twilight is not in front of the actual Cullen House. That house is tucked into a park-like setting, behind an established neighborhood of older homes. The driveway in front of the home is just that - driveway, which leads off of a neighborhood street and into a park. It's not as secluded as the book states, but it's definitely not right on a main road.

Additionally, while I agree that the house doesn't match the book's description, it would (IMO) be a horrible departure and inconsistency to change it up now.

Bummed that it's not coming to Portland, and I blame our state film commission for that. Happy, though, that it's at least staying in the US.

lallieb said...

@Nik, Mardi Gras always in February just before Lent starts. Certain number of days before Easter (should know, but forget), so not always the exact same week.

nikola6 said...

Uh...well

I've never attended a premiere for one of these films or a TWI convention. And I could have done both as I'm right here, but I passed.

I did do Comic Con two years ago but only because my niece requested I go find this Robert Pattinson kid and tackle him to the ground for an autograph. I had no idea of the hysteria that awaited me. And I was a nervous freaked out wreck in the throes of a panic attack in that Hall H with 7,000 screamers.

And yeah, I'm contemplating going back (next year), but only because I want to get another NB convention together and I'd rather do Comic Con than a premiere. It's chaos, but it's controlled chaos 'cause they've been doing it for 40 years. And now I know what to expect. But no...I hate large crowds. They terrify me.

Along with clowns, flying and mental institutions.

And bird's beaks.

And for that last comment, I probably belong in one.

Lisa said...

@Nik - more movies seem to be being filmed in LA since Katrina because after it is when they started offering the really great tax incentives.

The dates for Mardi Gras vary every year because it goes along with Easter and Ash Wednesday. The time you are thinking of celebrating Mardi Gras is the 2 weekends (and weeks) before Ash Wednesday. 2011 it will be the last weekend of Feb and the 1st weekend of March.

And for those only associating LA with New Orleans and Mardi Gras, there is A LOT more to LA than just New Orleans. The western side of LA is very thick with trees and vegetation, for example. Not the huge gigantic trees of the NW, but with as little outdoor scenery as is in BD, I could see where it would work.

@Rhenea - yes I agree with you about NW LA.

This should be interesting. I live in Texas (Galveston) only a couple of hours from the LA border. May have to do some "stalking" if and when the cast makes its way to my part of the world!

nikola6 said...

'instead of sand, he's gonna have oil in his ass crack'

Shit. Okay. That was pretty funny.

nikola6 said...

Loolith...

I need to clarify...

It doesn't matter where the house actually is. What matters is that they have established in the films that the house is not secluded. That it is accesible from the road and that there is no large front yard for those vamps and wolves to frolic around in away from prying eyes. And so, they gotta change it. It is essential in BD that the Cullen home and it's surroundings are secluded just as they were described in the book.

And they can change it very plausibly. Esme saw something she liked better and so...they moved. Easy.

Cheeky Chops said...

Still laughing over bird's beaks.

lallieb said...

Thanks Lisa for the real lowdown on Mardi Gras and when it occurs. Just a note to all that have not experienced it, Mardi Gras season in NOLA is much more than a crowd of drunks and girls exposing themselves, the only images some people get to see. Having been there visiting my best friend and her family who lived there for 4 years, it is very much apart of the culture and is celebrated by families in suburbs and taken very seriously by the krewes who work hard all year on their floats for the parades and the organizers. The traditions are long and sacred. I can only compare it to being like Christmas, the decorating of homes and parties with the ritual of the King cake, etc. It's not just beads and boobs!

lallieb said...

@Nik, I'm ducking down real low here, 'cause cheeky's gonna "chop" off my head, but seriously check out the sassy one's new look. Femroc's link. Worth it. Gotta go, like my head on my shoulders.
BTW, no problem with Cullen house, it was secluded, but LA works for me as well. Tax breaks and weather big factor on this change up. It'll work.

Cheeky Chops said...

Hahaha no I'm not, Lall. I like her new hair, and I like that dress. I don't have a problem with people talking about, Kristen, or talking about her myself.

Lisa said...

Galveston celebrates Mardi Gras too, and while there is much druken debachery, we find many family things to do too. For example, on the first weekend there are parades down the Seawall though out the day on Saturday. People set up "camps" hang out, barbeque, etc. It's a very family oriented thing we do.

And yes, I could see the weather down here playing a big factor in the outdoor filming.

lallieb said...

@Lisa, thanks, I didn't know how widespread in your area of the country it is, but do know that the rest of the country really can't appreciate or understand it, unless one visits during Mardi Gras with people who actually LIVE there.

Yep, they're gonna have too do it in the swamp. "Contaminated Gator P^ssy", don't blame me if that gets around. LMAO

Holy great hair, Kristen!! And Nik...I hear you on the thousands of screaming fans. As much as i want to go to one of these fan events, so help me I think I would pass out and wet my pants, and that would be before even getting the chance to meet my boyfriend, Rob. *SIGH*

Also, I hear you on the clowns. My aunt collected clown stuff, and every time I went to her house, those damn clowns were watching me. I could feel it. Their eyes followed me from one room to another, and their little painted faces just tweaked me like none other. To this day, I detest the circus for that reason. My poor kids. No circus memories for them. I will be a wreck when I watch my boyfriend in WFE. But his royal hotness will make the scary clowns all worth it. Yay!

So Louisiana it is! Ok, this Pacific Northwest girl will swallow her state pride and allow it. On a side note, I would LOVE to hear Rob speaking with a southern accent. Can I get a SQUEEEEEEEE???

OH AND NIK!!!

I completely agree on the house in the Twi-movies. It's all wrong. COMPLETELY wrong. And there was no giant yard area for the training, etc, in BD to take place. It bugged me something fierce. We'll see what they come up with....

i dont think it really matters...with everything they could do with CGI, they would make anything look different than what it actually looks like - hope that makes sense. but i am surprised that they do change the last movie from the Pacific NW.

whoever made the "oil" comment LMAO :))

Marna said...

I wondered if I was the only one who thought the house was wrong, because I've never seen anyone else say anything. There's supposed to be a big porch in the front, I always pictured a plantation type of house with one of those wrap around porches. Maybe they'll just pretend it's on a side of the house we've never seen before. In NM, I thought the house looked to small inside, I always pictured the rooms as large.

Breaking Dawn! O.M.G.
I don't know if I can take it, really. It's been such a roller-coaster ride up to now, and having read all the books twice, the idea of making BD into a two-part movie with all the intricacies of that story...holy shit! I want it all, and I want it now.

You're my reason for staying alive, if that's what I am.

i just saw an interview with the three stars going at it was taylor and rob who was better for bella, but how come no one never brought this up besides edward was so educated he was very wealthy edward was not rich,he was wealthy i know this did not matter to bella but it was shore going to matter to some parents, just saying and he was not selfish

lallieb said...

Just my opinion on the house. It definitely was very different than the book, but I thought it worked. I was put off at first, but I could imagine them living in that type of big, expensive, modern, beautiful edgy house with that space and the interesting interior space and decor. Perhaps too much glass and natural lighting, (should have shown electronic shades during daylight?) nevertheless I bought it. And it was secluded, it was the long driveway off the main forest road to get to it, as I recall.

BellaMarie247 said...

@evangeline > There is no doubt Bella knew Edward was the only man for her, whether he was good or her or not.
I read a Fan-fiction where she got cold feet the day of their wedding and left Forks, went away to college for four years, came back and married Jacob! I know it sounds ridiculous but this was very well written and believable, and also heartbreaking because Edward came and visited them after she had Jacob's baby. It tore my head apart.

Kristen's got the face that can wear different hair colors and have it look natural on her and not everybody can. Did you ever see that film she did where she played Meg Ryan's daughter? I think it was called in The Land Of Women or something like that. She was blond in that and it looked beautiful and most of all, natural. And the jet black hair for The Runnaways? It was severe, but it looked natural on her. She's just got a face that can do it.

But one more time...an actor's hair does not belong to them. In just a year's time, this is the second cut and different color she's had to change to for a role. Don't be surprised if one day, she shaves it off for another role. Good actors who don't allow their movie star egos to get in the way of the character they're serving, will change their appearance in the extreme if a role requires them to do so.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are these kinds of actors.

I agree. The Cullen home in the movies is definitely not like it is described in the book. However I accepted what they gave us.

The Gulf has beautiful white sand beaches. Well they did until the BP spill. They could go to Turks and Caicos(Parrot Cay) or Belize(Cayo Espanto) to film the Isle Esme scenes. T & C has white sand beacheson and the water is so blue and clear it doesn't seem real.

@BellaMarie247 - What is the name of the ff you mentioned and what site is it posted on? I just finished Binary Star on ff.net.
