The Twilight Saga - Eclipse Spoiler Thread

The time has come... Eclipse is finally out for all (or most) to see. The count down to the midnight showings is on.

We hope you all have a great time seeing the movie, but may we ask one thing? Please keep your comments, views, reviews, likes/dislikes and squee's to this post. We have visitors worldwide, some who sadly won't get to see Eclipse for some time (including our very own Kate) so please keep it spoiler free for them.

Robward thanks you with a smouldering stare!

Just got back all I can say is wow I was blown away, OMG the kisses the leg hitch the proposal. I will have to definatly see it again many times. It was by far the best one so far. David Slade brought it.
IMO the kiss between Jacob and Bella was not even close to what Edward and Bella's are.

Speechless. At a loss for words. I'm not going to be too descriptive for people who haven't seen it yet. I will just say that everything that was said about the movie was true. David Slade DEFINITELY knows how to deliver. He really did a hell of a job bringing the Drama/Romance/Action and rolling it into one great movie. Absolutely Epic.

Patti LaBella said...

Always entertaining to read the Rotten Tomatoes. Although Slade does get much credit.

I want to see it again...and again...and again. Never get enough Robward. He is just...oh, my God!
The proposal made tears in my eyes. The agony in his eyes when Bela kissed Jacob...But honestly if I haven't read the books and seen the first movies....there were a man in the cinema( and not only one in the midnight screening) who said severeal times, what is going on ? So withouth any preeducation don't take anybody to see the film.

Just got back. All I can say is OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG. You absolutely cannot take your eyes off of Rob. True to the book. So Good and hot and sexy.

acullengirl said...

@Jane ITA, my sister was pissed at me becuse I would not even talk to her during the movie, but I could not even speak looking at Rob on the big screen made me speechless, plus she kept sreaming for Jacob everytime it showed him with his shirt off.

I can't wait to see this tomorrow! Nobody is saying anything bad (I know, there's only 8 posts LOL), but the other 2 movies had problems right away so I'm very excited.

Just got back...I don't have words. Rob was just...he's just so...see, told you I didn't have words. There were so many "awwws" in the theater when he proposed. I can't wait to see it again and again. His smile is incandescent. My friend and I both absolutely loved it. When I came out of Twilight and New Moon I had the feeling that "it was good, but there were some problems." I didn't have that feeling at all after walking out. It was just perfect. Kristen looked beautiful (the wig wasn't bad), Rob was...FILTM. The kissing scene, the leg hitch..Holy God! HOT! I said to my friend "if it was me, I'd be dead by now"

Rob'sCigarette said...

Loved, loved, loved it...even the 2nd time. David Slade rocks and Rob offers his finest Edward portrayl to date. More kisses, more almost lovin', leg hitchin', and the proposal...oh wow! Will take me days and days to to recover. Must see again in IMAX.

I loved all the Bella and Edward romance scenes. There were not enough of them for me. I loved the the proposal scene. I really liked the tent scene. I don't like to be negative. But I had a problem at the first part of the movie with the transitions between the scenes. I thought Rob did a great job and he was gorgeous.

Absolutely loved it (thank God) was scared to death Slade might have messed it up but all is well (better than well) in the Twilight Saga Universe. Laughed, cried, cheered...balanced film. Our theatre was having a great time...best kiss? No contest! E&B can bring the heat (even my husband grabed my leg in the proposal scene ;-) hot! and elegant at the same time. Planning to see again several times this week with diff sets of friends who couldn't go tonight

I thought that out of all of them this is the one that was most like the book.

I do wish the series included characters such as the deanli's and lauren--but thats a sidenote

I loved it, but NM is still my favorite.

It's 3am in NY and there's no way I can go to sleep. Got there 2 hours before start time & the excitement in the theater was contagious and electric as midnight approached.
Once the movie started, you could hear a pin drop. The place was sold out with SRO !
Girls here have said it all, really. This is the BEST of the Twilight movies and I love them all very much.
Rob was transcendent, taking Edward into another realm of reality, fun and heartbreak too.
Oh, and that big gold bed...damn.
Very true to the book which surprised me a bit.
Bella really getting her own fierce on in this one. No wonder Kristen loved this movie.
And Taylor's Jacob, well I have to say this, he truly was so good, more mature, sexy and very watchable.
Great Twilight Movie. You are all going to really enjoy it. After all, we have been waiting so impatiently but it is soooo worth it!!

Steph is Legit said...

@BellaMarie

I'm in NY too. It was a madhouse. I got to the theater at 10:30 and people were pushing and shoving. The sad part is was that it was adult woman and not the teeny boppers.

Unknown said...

AMAZING! My fave by far. Everything was fabulous. As has been said already, it was very true to the book which I LOVED!

Can't wait to go again!

@Steph > that's so unnecessary and stupid, don'tcha think? What's with people anyway.
We had a great, appreciative (and polite) crowd out here on Long Island and even tho I went alone (none of my friends are as crazy as me)had no problems and felt right at home with a room full of strangers with the same love for these movies, and Robward (with a few Team Jacob members thrown in for balance).
I want to see it again, right away~

kumari said...

Just got back from seeing in Orlando, I am Dead...........Rob's portrayal of Edward, beyond all expectations, as hot as you can get in the "gold bed" scene. Proposal.......he had so many emotions visible during the process..........I was quivering when it was done and he SMILED that totally awesome smile when she said "yes" Not a Jacob fan, but this movie actually portrayed him as the coniving, arrogant jerk he can be. Also loved that you saw more of other Cullen couples interacting as family and mates as well, first time in this movie. Also like that Edward's eyes actually change in the appropriate places. (they don't in NM) Will go see it again and again and again...........So happy with this one!

CinnamonGirl said...

Just got home . I loved it !!Best one so far. As usual Charlie's scences were Great . Kristen is much more comfortable in her role as Bella. She's not as fidgety, for which I was so grateful. And Rob was ABSOLUTELY Beautiful.. Seeing him on the big screen is Breathe Taking.

Steph is Legit said...

@BellaMarie

That's because its LI, I live in Brooklyn (at least until the summer is over and then back into the city) and it was madness. People didn't know that the regular movie and IMAX had two separate queues and the adults were shoving people. It was sad. You should have came to Brooklyn so you didn't have to see it alone (then again you probably would have been trampled on lol). I only saw it with one of my friends..the rest don't care about twilight either =/

Steph is Legit said...

@kumari

when i read the books I am TEAM EDWARD, but when I watch the movies I am TEAM JACOB..its weird. I sort of feel bad when the CGI wolf looks forlorn lol.

David Slade truly delivered! The action and corresponding special effects were otherworldly as it should be. Very rarely do movies improve on a well beloved book, but Eclipse managed to do just that several times.

Taylor should take a victory lap because he kept the movie vibrant with his very Jacob-like happy-angry personality.

Kristen is much improved, but I still wish I could see more energy from her like when she tells Charlie she's still a virgin. The wig was unfortunate, but the girl is beautiful that you need more than a bad wig to cause any damage.

Rob. Oh Rob, if I wasn't already Robsessed, I would be in serious trouble right now. His American accent was 1000 times better than all the previous films. His adherence to the emotions in the book as well as the new and improved casual wardrobe make him extra dreamy and spoonworthy.

@Steph that sucks, the nice thing about the movie theater I go to is that they have assigned seating, no waiting in lines you can walk in during the previews and still have your seat I think all movie theaters should do this, it would save so much hassel. I am still awake, I saw it at 6:10 MST and now have to wait for my daughter who is at a 12:45 showing to call me so I can go and pick her and her friends up, the thing is she saw it at 7:15 then again at 12:45 I am little jealous right now.

Eclipse was epically phenomenol! David Slade did an amazing job. The leg hitch, proposal, flashbacks, fight scenes and plethora of Robert Pattinson left me reeling with a rollercoaster of emotions! Epic! I'll definitely watch this movie many times over, likely even after Bella's heartbeat stops. Puahaha.

OMR! OMR! OMR!
I'm in love all over again. Brain is still trying to process everything but I think it will, after a few more viewings. Hell ya, I will be there at least a couple more times this weekend.

Mr. Slade, you delivered!

Rob was . . . there are just no words. The proposal, the tent scene, the meadows, the hilltop. Just so much expression on that wonderful face, without even saying a word.

Let's see it is 3am, when is the next showing?

Dagny said...

I went to the "Twilight Experience" and watched all three movies back to back with two of my friends. There were over 400 tickets sold for that which filled two theaters. It was a GREAT experience! We were all like family. There were only 5 men in our theater. Most of them were wearing team Alice shirts.

Eight more friends came for the midnight showing and by that time all 24 theaters at our venue had been sold out. It was a madhouse!

AMC did a great job of accommodating all the fans. They had free refills of popcorn all night and were very orderly in filling up the theaters.

As far as the movie goes, I've already bought tickets to see it in IMAX on Thursday and probably will see it many times after that. That, in spite of the the fact that I wish it had kept closer to the book. Jacob is such a jerk but Taylor did a great job acting him out. Bella and Jacob's kiss made me nauseous, literally. Really, I felt nauseous. Even though Edward came across as controlling I felt SO bad for him.

There are NO WORDS for Rob.

I will miss Rob's sexy and deep voice ... and i will wait for the DVD as usual ... original language!!!

ShariG said...

I went to a midnight showing of Eclipse last night. The theater was completely sold out as were several other screens in the same mulitplex. I saw it on the Ultra screen which basically meant it was about 3 sizes larger than the normal screens. The movie held my attention throughout. As was the case in New Moon, I felt I should not have read the book first because scenes that I loved and thought were very important in the book were omitted from the movie in favor of, for example, a larger role for Xavier Samuel's character, Riley. I am going to be honest here because you all know how much I love Robert Pattinson and want the best for him. I can see why Rob may have had problems with the director and his vision of Edward. The Edward in this film was far less secure and confident. He was worried about Jacob and Bella's relationship with Jacob. The confidence that was clear in the book was missing in the film. Visually it was a beautiful film. I don't think David Slade worried about the sparkle. Even in the bright sun meadow scenes, I didn't see Edward sparkle. Maybe I missed it. The wolves looked a bit better than New Moon, but still a little cheesy to me. There were some nice kissing scenes between Edward and Bella, but it somehow did not capture the unfullfilled passion of the previous two films and not of the book itself. I don't think David Slade really got the romance.

ShariG said...

Continued. Rob was great as always but the film seemed to be edited a little too tightly to get in all of the beauty of the relationship. Jacob had funnier scenes. Edward continues to ask Bella to marry him and finally she agrees but it almost feels like he finally wears her down rather than that she is so madly in love with him than nothing else matters. I will see the film again because Rob Pattinson on film is to die for. I will buy it too and watch it often and maybe on the second viewing I will fall in the love with the movie as much as I did the original Twilight film. However, only Catherine Hardwicke, as strange as she might be, actually got the Bella/Edward love story and directed Rob and Kristen to portray these characters in a way that just drew you into their relationship. The audience in my theater were very pro Edward, thank goodness. Lots of screams when Jacob appeared shirtless for the first time primarily from the younger crowd and sighs and applause when Edward and Bella had the sweet love scenes and when she accepted his ring, but it missed the passion between Bella and Edward that was so evident in the first film the end of New Moon, and in all four books. So, I am hopeful that another male director for Breaking Dawn will do a better job of capturing Edward and Bella and maybe lighten up the PG a little bit to allow the passion to come through again as it did in the original film. However, when all is said and done, the film captured the essence of the book, Rob looked great, I loved the tent scene although I hated it in the book for Edward's sake. The film handles it in a way that makes you come away really liking Edward even if you were Team Jacob to begin with. The truncated the day after the tent scene so that all you really got was the kiss between Jacob and Bella, but the dialog between Edward and Bella afterwards when he forgives her is almost missing. They also completely omitted the scene when she is being "babysat" by Alice and Rob comes home in the middle of the night and moves her from the couch to the new bed and they have the lovely make out scene. That one wasn't in it at all. The leg hitch was there in the night before the big fight scene, but the filming was so dark it was hard to really get the passion from the kissing that you could get in the other scenes. If you are a fan of the franchise or of any of the primary actors I think you will love the film. I don't really think it will get new audiences though. They need to stop pushing the action and return to the love story. Rob is the glue that holds the whole thing together and it is the chemistry between Rob and Kristen that needs to be the focus rather than Taylor's abs and the wolfpack. Billy Burke is fantastic in this film in every scene that he is in. He should be nominated for an academy award for Best Supporting Actor for the scene between father and daughter alone where he attempts to caution her about the birds and bees. Priceless.

Jazz_Girl317 said...

Other than two glaring writing errors (I REALLY can't wait to see SM's thoughts on the fracked up motorcycle scene now)I was in utter bliss last night!! I purposely tried to go in with very low expectations. I knew Rob & Kristen would be fantastic and even Taylor (despite me hating his character with a fiery passion I can at least admit the kid's not bad). But it was the tone of the film I was most concerned about. Would David Slade be able to bring the love and life along with the horror and fight? The answer? A resounding ABSOFRACKINGLUTELY!!!

One thing this movie did for me was tone down clueless selfish Bella and give her if not more altruistic motives, at least more understandable ones. In stead of appearing callous and clueless about Edward's feelings, there was a true sense of being torn.

My fears about Summit promoting Jacob as the tortured hero with only concern on his mind did not become realized. Jacob was still just as much a manipulative asshat as ever. Although they did leave out THE key scene where this is demonstrated, I was ok with the way he came across.

Rob as Edward... Holy Christ on a Camel's Hump. I was in awe the entire movie. I will not lie. When Rob was quoted in an interview as saying, "it's like playing a whole new character", I was way way worried. But, I hang my head in shame. I should have had faith in our Rob. He absolutely brough Edward to life, charging him with all those emotions that we know boil so close to the surface. Time and time again, he commanded subtle emotions and brought the entire case with him. The proposal...Sweet Jesus' sandal straps!! He was just downright amazing and I was moved to tears. So earnest. So just.. in love. And, OH MY EDWARD, the final battle with Victoria. FierceWard owns me, lock, stock and double barrels.

I can't even believe I'm saying this, but I even have to give Melissa Rosenberg credit. Other than the two previously mentioned glaring OoC moments between Bella & Edward & Jacob, she very effectively brough this story out of Bella's head and into the rest of the world. I will say there were a few too many double entendres at serious moments and I'm not a fan of canned laughter. But, overall, her strongest effort. And, I do not hesitate in saying getting praise for her from me is like performing a root canal through the nasal passages.

But, all honor and glory MUST go to David Slade. Welcome to the Twilight community, David. You have truly earned your place in it.

Cannot wait to see this film. Have to figure out when I can sneak away from my family. They all think I'm absolutely nuts and somewhat embarassing, especially my 11 and 13 year old sons. They don`t even know the half of my Rob obsession. Absolutely love RM and have watched many times since buying DVD. The comments here for Eclipse are making me hopeful that I won't be disappointed in Robward. Not that he could ever disappoint - just some of the cheesier aspects of the Twilight films sometimes make me cringe. I am very excited to hear that he is so expressive in the proposal scene. We all know that Rob can act. I think that Edward's character has been difficult for him to show his full range of abilities. Probably why I loved loved loved RM so much was that Rob seemed more at ease in this characte. I actually forgot I was watching Rob and got lost in the story.

kumari said...

@ShariG

Edward did sparkle and it was very well done. In the meadow scene especially the first, he was sparkling, and it was even reflecting off of Bella. It was much more subdued than the other 2 movies, but I think it made it much more a viable effect and actually looked "natural" for a sparkley vampire. In New Moon it was well done, but this time around it seemed so much more natural on his skin. I know in the original stills etc, that were released, you don't see it, but I think those were probably released pre-cgi so that's why the stills don't show it.

It was one thing I was really concerned about, the only other thing I disliked in the movie and I am nit picking here, is the final battle with Victoria. Robward was fantastic, but I Hated how they rewrote that from the book. I hated that they showed Edward as more than likely losing and that "Bella" actually saved him by doing the actual cutting ala third wife style. In the book, she never got that far, and Edward was portrayed as being fast and dancing and never really ever in danger, showing just how powerful a vampire he is. I hated that they had to make it look like he would've died if Bella hadn't come to his rescue. And I dislike that they didn't have the scene directly after, where he thinks Bella is afraid of him after seeing him go all Vamp. It was like ........okay that's done......nothing big......after, kind of left me a little empty

but again that was a minor irritant, as Robward's fierceness was truly beautiful to behold.

I am glad that Slade allowed the dark and dangerous side of Edward come out explosively. We finally get to see that he is truly a dangerous creature and can more appreciate the effort he goes through to be as loving and compassionate as he is.

Overall, loved loved loved this movie and will be seeing it as many times as I can get away with it.

Rob is so unbelievably perfect. He IS Edward. Hes my Edward. Perfection. And Rob and Kristens chemistry is ridiculously amazing. Just pure and REAL.

Rob's character came out more in this movie as a normal 17 yr. old instead of the frozen man he had seemed to be in the first two films. He had the jealously and possessiveness down pat and his face was so gorgeous, you could not look away. Everyone in the theater clapped and cheered when the movie was over and were smiling as they filed out of the theater, me included. Of course, the movie could never rival the book since it has to be done quickly but David Slade did a good job of portraying it in the time that was allotted him.

But Rob played Edward's insecurity and pain so well. Loved the tent scene. The first E/B scene is panty melting for sure. GAH! The proposal, holy mother. The whole audience sighed. All four shows were sold out when we got there at 10:30 (good thing I leave nothing to chance and bought online). Agree with all...enjoyed the movie, action was solid...loved the entire Cullen cast, and the great way they owned the action scenes! Delighted in the personal relationships of all the couples, including Sam, Emily & Leah, and the back stories...WOW! Loved it all! Congrats David!

Edward & Bella, well...*sighs, takes a deep breathe, savors the moment.* There are no words, Rob looked great throughout, but the tent scene was remarkable...he looked *again, no words.* The man is just beautiful, and that's an understatement! And, the love of both Edward's and Jacob's characters for Bella was, real and beautiful! Still TEAM EDWARD though! :-)

Saw the midnight show...no real screams, lots of adults! Audience applauded though when Bella said yes to Edward, very emotional...

Funny thing, we're entering the parking lot and a guy walks up to us to ask "where's all the crowds going"...the six of us answered in unison "ECLIPSE"! Funny moment...

Anyway, going back tonight for a second time and will see a few more times with other people...tonight it's the full crew, about 20 of us.

@Nancy, agree, why change the banner so soon?

I haven't read all the comment so don't know if anyone has mentioned Jasper. Holy cow! He was wonderful! His hair, for once, did not look like my mother-in-law and he was stinkin' hot. He was smirky and spoke with the Texas drawl and everything. Jackson did a great job.

Jacob made me angry, just like the book... so good job Taylor.

Bella was much less twitchy.

And Rob... he blew me away. He was perfection. P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N!

The action was intense and scary. The Cullens finally came to life. Finally. Overall, best movie I've seen in a long time. I was intensely happy.

David Slade really got a great performance out of Rob. Loved the interaction between Rob & Taylor especially in the tent scene although Rob's "can't you at least keep your farts to yourself" did creep into my mind. Not to be shallow or anything, Rob looked the best in the tent scene, the meadow scenes, the proposal, well he looked good in the whole movie but those scenes especially, wait, in the cafeteria too.
The proposal was toooooo sweet, just couldn't keep the stupid smile off my face during the whole thing. While I did enjoy the leg hitch scene, was in me or was David Slade purposely not focusing on the whole lip lock, could have sworn he was swaying the camera a little too much when they started laying down on the bed.
Rob really nailed the hurt look when Bella comes back to Edward after the "epic kiss". Anyone else wanted to shake Bella and ask what in God's name is wrong with her for shaking Edward off and running after Jacob? As for that kiss with J & B, David Slade really did focus in on all the lip action and it went on longer than I'm comfortable with, dunno if he's trying to convey that Edward can't really let go and kiss Bella fully and completely.
I agree with whoever said the script was kinda confusing for those who didn't read the books as my hubby looked a little lost at times. But the action sequence makes up for it a little.
The scenes between E & B will definitely leave you swooning.

Loved Eclipse. I couldn't say that coming out of NM. I was concerned with D.Slade directing but he really brought out the characters. The photography was terrific. A lot was covered but felt a lot of the dialogue from the book was there. This film was more mature (less HS) and really got into the mythical world of SM. Loved Fierceward. yum.

I really appreciated your comments.

I haven't seen Eclipse yet, and I think I will like it based on all the comments, but confident Edward was always my favorite and I think based on what you have written I will be prepared to view a not quite so confident Edward.

Edward had me in Twilight in the biology scene when he said "I think I can keep up". Then there was the "since I am going to hell" scene, bedroom kiss scene - "there is something I want to try", then Edward in his bedroom taking her waist, Edward lifting her over the threshold at the prom, lifting her onto his feet at the prom, prom kiss, "I'm not going to take your life away from you" etc. This was my confident Edward.

I don't know if it is Rob or the directors that have taken him down a pathway of a somewhat more weaker Edward, both physically and emotionally. This Edward seems almost more on an equal footing with Jacob, whereas in the books I always felt that Rob was the much stronger character - almost like Edward was a real man and Jacob was a boy.

I look forward to Eclipse.

Thanks for reading.

Havng never seen any film by him before, I wasn't so sure about David Slade, and I have a soft spot in the heart for Chris Weitz, plus I feel Chris developed the visual wolf and sparkle so very well. Yet, even as a fan of Chris, I must say, Eclipse was really the best, by far. It could be that MR got the script right tihs time, although I don't know what the scripts were like on the other 2. But the differences in Eclipse the film from Eclipse the book seemed purposeful and necessary to be to bring out clarity of emotion and events more, and it worked, at least for myself.
IIsee Rob sparkle, and it was very well done, and I DO think Edward of the book was not so confident, and was pained, and this was captured very well in the film. Rob really did a brlliantly believable job of portraying the torment of Edward, of the tightrope he must walk over so many pits of worry, dispair, insecurity, jealousy, anger, desire to kill, desire to please and woo. To me, t was all there, and ROb just did such an outstandng job; once agan am so impressed wth him. And if Slade coaxed or pulled it out of hm, I don't know, but it worked.
I am not a fan of Jacob the character, and I don't find Taylor particularly appealing or attractive. But I will say, he really did an excellent job of portraying the emotions of a volatile immature angry, hate-flled wolf in the midst of massive heartbreak.
I have always been impressed with Kristen's acting, but when you see how she is in real life (at least what we have privy to see) and then see how she is portraying Bella, even though she may relate to Bella, she pulled off Bella with the subtle yet sincere emotions of Bella, not Kristen (at least as we see her).
All in all, impressve; very very well done.

omg, I saw it last night and I just have to say, it was so good that my heart has been weighed down with the pain of it all day. Not the pain of the "love triangle" cause as much as I love Taylor, I'm all Edward. But they were all so good in it, the acting was so subtle and wonderful. Rob is so amazingly beautiful that it hurts. And I was thrilled with how much of the essential dialogue was included, really important parts that I was afraid they might leave out, like the talk with Charlie, and the end when Bella explains that she feels stronger and that she belongs in the Cullen world. And Rob really showed his own sexual passion and desire. It was so amazing, I can't count how many more times I'll see it. And it was my least favorite book!

I just got back from seeing it in IMAX, & I totally LOVED it! I was really worried about what David Slade was going to do, but I absolutely think it's the best of the 3 movies. I will definitely be seeing this a number of times before it leaves the theaters. There was no overacting, Charlie was great (the virgin thing HA!, loved the wolf pack (will Bella call? made me LOL), & giving all those minor characters bigger roles totally made sense. I even liked (don't throw things at me!) Jacob, and now that he's 18 in RL, I thought his kiss was pretty hot. Not as hot as Rob's of course :-). You can tell they are a couple now just by looking at the difference between the way they kissed in NM, & the way they kiss in Eclipse. Much more like people who are used to sucking face all the time LOL. I liked all the funny parts too, the movies need some laughter, & the proposal, ahhh, I had to restrain myself from yelling out YES when he said will you marry me?

The fights were great too, I was worried there would be too much of the battles just to atract the boys, but it was the perfect amount, & I finally figured out it's Alice who leaps over the wolf sideways. I could never tell in the commercials. I liked the wolves, they were realistic (well, except for the no genitalia thing). Overall, I am very happy with the film.

Gwen's Eclipse Checklist Review (encompassing midnight, early AM IMAX and afternoon matinee viewings on little sleep):

Kristen: IS BELLA. Hands down, no one else could BE Bella. A+

Rob: You know Wonder Woman's lasso? Rob onscreen just completely GRABS you, like that. Could. Not. Take. My. Eyes. Off. Him. Not even once. *sigh* (LOL, I'm truly dazzled.)

Tay: Please do a Western. "Spell me" line? Killed me. Oh, and good job! Seriously.

Jackson: I think I love you! Accent, hair (don't judge me), the take-chargey-ness? YUM. ("Rockstar, Cowboy", great line by Jess while camera pans Jackson, btw.)

Anna: Wanted MORE Jess!!!

Nikki: Argh, don't make me say it. Fine. Good job.

Soundtrack: Except for Muse's overkill song, totes love it.

The DILFs: Gil? All kinds of hotness. Peter & Billy---kudos for rocking this movie!

Best Line: Riley's "What did I SAY about a low profile????"

Fight Flirty: Alice & Jasper. Win.

LEGHITCH/Bedroom scene: HOT FREAKING DAMN. Whew!!! R&K, thanks for sharing. ; ) (I really want to know how many takes that scene took.)

Minor dings: That little of Esme? Hello! Unsteady steadycam scenes (IMAX very noticeable), Volturi overly much (WANT Dakota's cloak though), Bryce (I miss Rachelle). Wigs? Nowhere near as bad as the wolfpack's cringe-worthy acting.

Overall: MAJOR F*CKING WIN. Have no doubt that I will see this movie a few, ahem, more times in the theatre this week. And next.

Thank you, God, Rob & Stephenie for Edward Cullen.
Love,
Gwen

Saw Eclipse this afternoon, I thought it was the best out of the 3 so far. I loved the almost "birds and the bee's" talk, father to daughter, you could just feel the embarresment from both Bella and her Dad. But where in the book does it say that Jessica was valedictorian maybe it does and I've forgotten. I just sort of laughed to myself, what that might've said for Forks High..LOL, however, even though it was a small part, Anna pulled it off really well. Also, I liked how Rosalie got to explain to Bella, I thought she did a good job too, as did Jaspur, I liked seeing both how they once were as humans. I do plan to see it again.

Hello everyone!
I, my daughter, son in law, step-daughter and a friend saw the movie at a dinner (luncheon) theater this afternoon. Eclipse was wonderful, definitely the best of the three. We thought the acting of all was ratcheted up a great deal. Everyone was amazing, especially Rob, of course, Kristen, Taylor and Jackson. David Slade deserves a gold star. We decided seeing the movie in the dinner theater atmosphere is a pretty heavenly experience. I would like to go see it again tonight but must wait until tomorrow. I will possibly enjoy it even more then because I will be going alone, and not having to contend with eating a fine meal and relaxing in a reclinder. It's a rough life, Rob, great food and a plush recliner! :)

Gwen Cooper 426 said...

Solas, re IMAX? Eh. Wasn't all that impressed (yes, first timer). My preference is for a small, intimate-type feel for a movie experience and very large auditorium seating is almost distracting. The IMAX screen is VERY large and maybe if I sat right in the middle? Dunno. Doubt I see it again in IMAX, but I may try another movie like HP, at least once.

Maybe I just don't get the whole IMAX thing. Tickets are at least twice as much, but I just didn't see the difference while viewing.

Kelly Louise said...

Yessss, I finally saw it. However, I have not yet made up my mind about it in this insomniac state of mind right now. I must sleep. And then watch it again.

Gwen--first of all, I am so glad to see you again! Are you well? I didn't see you for so long! And I had wanted to tell you how grateful I am for your suggestion of Dr. Who; I've been gettng the dvd's via netflix and they are great fun!

Second--the only time I have been to IMAX was the last Harry Potter movie, and I just LOVED the experience! I really felt as if I were flying, as if I would fall off my broomstick along with them! I saw it in a regular theatre as well, and the experience was the not the same.
IMAX was as if I were there! I am wondering if that is really necessary wth Eclipse. I am not sure I want to feel as if I am in the midst of a battle, and I would feel more of a veuyeur if I were in the midst of certan scenes.

I HIGHLY recommend seeing HP in IMAX.

jmm4832 said...

Solas, thanks for the tip regarding IMAX. I am a big HP fan and am chomping at the bit to see Deathly Hallows.

Well, Eclipse blew me away and especially Rob's acting. Kristen and Jacob really improved a lot too. I couldn't help but feel so sad for Jacob when he was lying in that bed and realized he tried but still couldn't win Bella's heart. The proposal scene was my favorite but I can honestly say I liked every single scene in the movie. Can't wait to see it again and again.

xoRobxo said...

@ Denise... Jessica as valedictorian was not in the book. MR liberties

jmm- 'looking forward' is an understatement for myself with regards to Deathly HOllows, but I am wondering if it will be even more frustrating to not see the whole thing at once, as if being a given a 2 hour tease!

I am hoping to see Eclipse a few more times this week; if the IMAX has it on 4th of JUly I might go there just to avoid the heat 'til the fireworks come out!

solas said...

xo--I think to reduce characters some students of the book were mushed into fewer ones in the films. I think Eric gave the speech in the book. Also, I wonder if Anna was given more to do since her talent in acting is more obvious than that of the other 'students.'

DC Report

All four midnight shows were sold out, usher came in multiple times to tell us the theaters would be full and not to save seats. Respectful crowed, murmurs as opposed to shrieking.

I thought the pacing was really well done, especially given the amount of material/plot they had to work through.

I have always thought that if you had not read the books, these movies would be convoluted, if not inexplicable. Eclipse is the first one that seemed accessible to the uninitiated.

Given RPs comments regarding the proposal scene, I expected it to seem awkward, maybe cheesy. Instead, I found it to be very natural. Believable. Sweet. (But that ring! AWFUL looking.) The tent scene as well - no cringing here.

What I am trying to say - I liked the Twilight books for what they were and I accept the limitations of the movies. I watch the movies multiple times for the sole purpose of supporting (and seeing, of course) Rob. But Eclipse was solid and Rob did really well, especially with the range of emotions in this script (sincerity, rage, jealousy, hurt, tenderness, etc.)

Noe said...

oh and this is my midnight showing story i told my friend already so i just copied it....

my theater was hilarious. my row and a row in front was team edward and the row behind me and two rows front were jacob.... it was all out battle. haha not really but it was a battle of the wits and asstry.

my cousin had the first hit by yelling "TEAM EDWARD!!!!" and a bunch of people yelled there butts off.

then one girl yelled "team jacob!" in a weak way i might add and i booed her. and soon after a bunch of people laughed. i of course apologized because i forget how my voice carries.

next was bella petting the cgi wolf's head and some people were saying "how cute" and so forth. so with me being blunt and forgetting how my voice carries said "aw... look it's a dog."

then a shit load of people busted out laughing and one said "you're f'n hilarious". even the team jacobs gave me props. yet my older cousin had to scold me to show face.

then the movie went off and the lights came back on cutting our line. so everyone slowly started to freak out/get upset while yelling at the projection room.

so i decided to lighten up the mood and said out loud purposely "Oh now they better have Robert Pattinson coming out to surprise us..." which got the bunch chuckling. then i added a short while later "or Taylor Lautner's abs" and you can guess how that went. but soon after the funny everyone went back to yelling at the projector peeps.

last funny moment was when my cousin's bestie said "slut!" after bella kissed jake. plus she said it out loud so everyone was like "OH!!!!!!!!!!!"

but after that all the females had a go at joining in on the slut, ho, and skank remarks... so hilarious.

I have lurked here for over two years and check this site daily. I really don't know why I never posted until now but I have to! Oh, and I am Bridget!

So, I watched 'Eclipse' tonight for the first time. I am, overall, very, very happy with it! I loved to see Rob act out all the emotions that he did. He is the perfect Edward Cullen. I loved seeing the proposal scene and actually teared up a bit, to be honest. It was perfect. No cheesy or cliché--just beautiful. I wish the tent scene had been more in depth but I understand why it wasn't. I though Jacob was great too and came off as the torn happy/angry Jacob I always pictured in the books. The fight scenes were amazing and intense with the Cullens/Wolves and Newborns. I, also, loved seeing the Cullens as a bit less than perfect and being playful and sweet. It made them more real (as Edward was more 'real' to me in this one).

My biggest complaint was the 'Third Wife' scene with Bella and Edward. I do NOT think they should have totally rewrote that scene. It made Edward look weak and not at all the dangerous creature that he is. In the book, Victoria was no match and neither was Riley. I get the whole 'she saves him' idea but really, I just did NOT like it and felt that it took away from Edward's character. Yes! He's sensitive. Yes! He's gorgeous. Yes! He's romantic. But he is ALSO a lethal vampire who can read thoughts and run faster than all the rest. In this instant, he was made to seem weak and that he couldn't defend himself properly. I just really didn't like it, obviously.

And as always, try as I might to love it, I always feel Kristen Stewart's performance is lacking. I saw no evolving from her and she always plays such a hostile Bella. Bella would never jerk away from Edward and say 'Don't!' as in 'Don't touch me!' It seems to me and some other movie goers that I talked to afterwards, that she likes Jacob MORE in the films than Edward. It's just so, not like the book character of Bella Swan. She looked pretty and the wig wasn't as bad as I thought but she plays Bella as if Bella doesn't care about Edward that much. I really try to like her performance but it's always just stiff and just comes across as her and not the character she is supposed to play. Not only this but her whole little lecture at the end about it being her world too (from the fourth book), that was pretty cool except she said it wasn't all about Edward. It IS all about Edward. She even says in literary 'Eclipse' that Edward is the ONLY reason she want immortality and thus he is relieved. That irked me too.

Other than that, I loved it! I loved the pace of it, the graphics, most of the acting, and even the new Victoria wasn't so bad (though I do miss really miss Rachel). Robert was simply JAW-DROPPING gorgeous! Especially when he was in that snow, oh dear GOODNESS. I loved the eyes changing colours in the right places too. He looked so sexy. And him being possessive and angry, mmmmm. That was simply hot. I didn't think Rob could get any more gorgeous and he always does. I don't know how but he does. Such a good actor too, really. He played Edward perfectly in this film. Also, Bree was so tragic. So very tragic. :(

Anyway, all in all 4.5 out of 5 stars from me!

p.s. I'm glad I am no longer a lurker. :)

It's late and maybe I misread what you wrote and if so, let me apologize for what I'm about to say. But if I didn't misread you, then I have a question. How did anyone else in the theatre hear the movie with all the "fun" going on in the audience? I'll be honest with you, had I been there I would have politely asked you all to please be quiet. I've had to do that before when some of the audience seems to forget that they're not in their basements with their friends having a Twilight party. They're in a public theatre with people who have paid money to watch the entertainment on the screen, not to listen to the antics of some audience members. I have never seen such rudeness in theatres before than I have with the Twilight films. Does anyone have some thoughts as to why this might be? I'm all for having loud, rowdy fun, but there's a time and a place. But in a darkened movie theatre with other paying customers is neither the time nor the place. Am I being a hardass here?

Definately the best movie of all Saga so far. David Slade did a great job.

The bed scene - nice :)

The tent scene not so intense as it could've been and was in a book.

No embarrassing moments as those in "New Moon".

And their acting is sooo much better in this one.

Only wish Robward would smile and joke more ;-)

I think I'm in love with David Slade! I drove an hour and a half to see Eclipse on an IMAX screen. I loved this movie so much. David nailed it so well. The few non-book things added in were inspired. In particular I loved when Bella's mom gave her the quilt made of tee shirts from all of their adventures together. It was perfect. Jessica's speech... Everything else was spot on. Somethings were slightly abridged or altered, but the important things were just as they were meant to be. The proposal, and the stuff just before it, Holy crap! I will see it again, for sure. I feel, pardon the pun, that David Slade has neatly and easily ECLIPSED the other to films. I love them all, but I think this is easily my favorite.
