when watching Eclipse or any of the twilight movies I'm always distracted by Rob's presence but when I watched Eclipse again I noticed how sexy Alex is ;)

They were trying out aging makeup just for disguises right? MR hasn't written something completely weird for BD I hope?

Bzaarely offtopic: Bill Oreilly just mentioned the Twilight pheonemeon, citing a news piece on teens biting each other and guys asking girls for their blood. Oreilly had culture advisors (?) on who pointed out that the guy vampire (and who might that be?) in Twilight doesn't drink Bella's blood, that he quenches his thirst with animals.

OMg that is sooo funny... i would recognize Rob;s hands and eyes and nose and teeth anywhere... he has to get a TOTAL make up or mask for people not to recognize him... He would have to even walk differently!

solas said...

robmax--I was thinking that about the walk-- I think all else could be masked, at least for a glanceworth, perhaps not for serious long detailed insepcton, but the walk is recognizable.

I will go ahead and say this on a robsessed blog taking the risk that my butt might get chewed, that's fine tho :D

What I want to say is, I wish all these stories about how Rob is being hounded by paps and fans and running and hiding from them would just STOP!!

They are making him sound like an ungrateful whinny bitch emphasizing self-importance and pretentiousness! We all know that's not the case, yet, and this is a true story...when I first watched twilight a little over a year ago not knowing anything about it or anyone in it, I searched RP and the first story I got was how he was hounded by fans on a set of his film and how he hates "it" all and he wants to "quit" acting and it's just too damn much for him...I thought wow what a fkn loser he's such a whinny little a$$hole! Well that was my initial thought based on the tab and the story printed in it, off course once I've watched a few YT videos of him and all that jazz I realized he's not quite the annoying wimp those rags made him out to be...

Point being, for those who DO NOT know much about Rob, all these stories talking about him "handling" his fame and it being too much etc, just make him come across as a big brat...therefore I hope his co stars, reporters conducting interviews, etc would just let this whole thing lay to rest and start asking some "interesting and insightful" questions and lay off the big EGO trip once and for all!

There I've said it! take it easy on me now :D

~~ROBsessedtotheMAX~~ said...

DeDe... I totally agree with you... i love Rob and i see that he is actually handling the fame pretty well... I mean think about it... he has been subject of so many "incidents" after his career shot up... But i see that he has started to accept and deal with the situation and doing pretty well at it. He might make a comment and people take it out of context making it seem as that he doesn't like it or that he is not grateful to his fans.

I have noticed in the videos and interviews that he tries to give as much to his fans as possible. He tries to sign as many things as he can and he gives kisses and takes pics! I mean there is only so much he can give and he is doing it all!

If Rob complained about fans wanting autographs or a photo of hmself when they are at his premieres, that would be whining; or if he dismissed fans and their enthusiasm and their love and support for himself and his films, that would be ungrateful.

But as far as being distressed at the sudden and deafening sound of thousands of screams, at pappz in his path so he cannot even move, shouting obsceneties to get a rise out of him, of intrusions into personal space so much that he has to learn tricks and possbly wear dsguises to avoid them to have any sense of life out of work (even buying underwear, for G-d's sake!!!), and intrusions into work place and space so much that scenes need to be reshot- that is neither whining nor b*tchng nor lack of gratitude; that is just a human being wanting to breathe and live.

I just did some analysis and figured out two things- dont kill me for this, pls check out my analysis
1. Love kristen, love Kristen and Rob. But I think Rob may be going out with K only coz he really cant go out with anyone else! Not that he does not like/love her now but from hundreds of beautiful and famous people who would be dying to go out with him he chose to go out with her!and i am saying this coz knowing his type i think he likes the tall blond model types (his earlier comments about where are all the models, throw yourselves at me etc)...moreover boys normally go for girls who look like their moms/sisters- who are all blond!

Also, no woman around his age will be so secure with all these stories and kristen with him all the time, summit may not encourage it and thirdly she may nto be able to take all the media scrutiny and if he keeps changing girlfriends it may nto be good for his image (he is a smart guy)!!

Finally, i think for all the modesty and couldnt care less attitude, he is a smart guy. He knows what he wants and wants to make the most of what he has now.
e.g. how nice he is to Bryce dallas (she is ron howards daughter!), have you seen the interview with prez. bushs daughter? he is all charm and not bored at all!
So he will do whats right at this point!

I think maybe edward has a small unowhat! Thats why he refuses to have s** before marriage! afterwards she cant do anything about it and cant even leave him coz she would ahve been converted to a vampire by then! cant even go with jacob--- think about it!
points which prove his smallness
- he never slept with anyone in like 100 years!!
- he chose a young insecure virgin with absolutely no experience with boys
this explains his insecurity!

I'm with Solas on this one DeDe.
Any fan, new or old, would soon see that he is hounded, treated, by the paps and some crazy fans, like a thing, not a person.
Many of us on this blog will defend his right to live and breathe, as Solas put it, like you or me.
These issues keep coming up here because the poor man must cope with it all, and we admire that Rob has done it with dignity and grace. The paps and fans who cross the line, and they know it, are the ones who lose their dignity.

Rob has never come across as whiny, where these things are concerned. He did recently, as you know, defend Kristen from a trashy blogger. I cheered silently. Way to go, Rob.

Thanks, Solas, for that. *waves*

@ Jess, Solas I was just saying how people who don't know the whole dynamic of things can "misjudge" him given that NOT everyone is a twilight/HP fan, and even though he maybe extremely famous right now, believe it or not unless you follow gossip news or your a robsessed or a twihard many people checking him out won't know "shit" about him...take the RM situation for example!

I will not emphasize how much I realize the issues you've mentioned must pain and annoy these celebrities and until people give up a little of their obsession about their private lives they will continue to be hounded, however, I also can't deny the fact that when I see a pic of Rob looking "meh" or annoyed in his pap pics (and I know he doesn't want to give them the opportunity to sell those pics or make it a habit to hound him even more)I cringe inwardly! Compared to for instance, a pic of Dakota Fanning all sweet and smily faced or Peter Fach I know for a fact those two are NOT famewhores and them smiling and acting nonchalant for the paps is IMO their way of (knowing) the end pics will be looked at by "their fans" and a picture of a celeb smiling and acting "normal" even if it's a pap pic is competely NOT the same as a picture of a celeb looking all doom and gloom or giving paps the finger for example(and don't get me wrong I know they deserve it) I'm just saying how it all looks to the "fans" looking at these pics or reading these stories!

I'm sure once the hysteria dies down a little it will all be much easier for Rob/Kris et all to breath and live a normal life, I'm just saying that while it's still churning at them maybe take it easy on the "how tough it is for them to handle it stories" because people could be judgmental asses like that! That's all~*~

@Solas, one final thing, Those "enthusiastic" fans "screaming" murder are the same ones he meets at premiers and fan events etc. So you see the little separation you're trying to create here doesn't really exist!!

solas said...

I understand what you are saying; I just don't agree. Sometimes a person has to make a stand if something bothers him, or even if the larger picture bothers him. If someone doesn't like to be treated a certain way, even if others do, he has the right to express that, to avoid that treatment, etc. And worrying about how people might view themselves works for some people, not for all. Some people are OK enough about themselves, or secure enough that they will find a place in the world, that they don't have to go along wth everything an industry or a fashion dictates. And some people are just more comfortable wth crowds and pappz, etc than others, just as some people are OK wth people with whom they are not close hugging them, and some are not, and some are OK wth sexual innuendos or cursing, and some are not. I don't believe that a person ought to just put up wth actions that he fnds unpleasant or downright objectionable or stressful (unless of course he is in a totalitarian regime or the like) just because it has become accepted as going with the territory or because some other people can handle it.

As a fan of Rob, I am more concerned wth his well-being and his feelng less stressed than I am with how others (especially, as you say, 'judgmental asses' view him.

Rob has either gotten used to the screamng as if at the gates of Hell, or he is wearing earplugs. He has sad more than once his hearng has been affected. He has also expressed that he has developed coping mechanisms, such as wearing layers of clothing, which seem to buffer him from the vibrations of the screams.

solas said...

The distinction that exists is this: he IS grateful to fans and so will put up with much more from them, and learn to cope with what is unpleasnt from them, because he is grateful to them. He is NOT grateful to the pappz who are miserable and offensive and G-d forbid endanger his life.

Ultimately, the bottom line is how we view people, human beings, in this country: do we buy their work, tickets to watch or listen to their work, or do we buy THEM??? We do not own their lives; we might own a dvd or cd or a magazine with their photos taken by a legit and permitted photographer, but we don't own THEM.

Anonymous said...

I guess he has enough fans,he could afford losing a few potential ones at the cost of attaining some self preservation! That's seems like a fair trade! I don't disagree!

solas said...

Does he need 'fans' or does he 'need' (not sure about the ramifications and degrees of that) apprecation of his work and grasp of his understanding/insight/interpretations/portrayals of characters?

Intelligent insightful people who watch Rob's performances, if that is their 'thing,' will appreciate Rob's work no matter the hype, outer noise/garbage, etc. I hope ultimately that is what he goes for: the art, the performance, the craft.

Well as much as I WANT to agree with you here, but I just can't, see Actors unlike politicians who are also public figures and rely heavily on "people" support, are in the entertainment business where "fans" are their lifeline if they're unable to draw crowds(no matter the reason, be it admiration to the actor or the work or fascination with their looks and celeb status)their careers won't thrive or flourish and their films won't be seen or talked about. So yeah maybe at the cost of his sanity and integrity he won't want to "impress" that many "new" people or try to gain more "fans" but at the end of the day he's not in this business to save whales or talk about the undesirable effects of globalization, he's in this business to (hopefully do something he enjoys) while "dazzling" and fascinating people enough to come see his films. That's the difference between the two life choices!

solas said...

It could be that he is pullng our legs, or that he doesn't know himself yet, or that some of us are misunderstandng him, but from what I have understood from Rob's interviews is that he did not go into this to dazzle people or build a fanbase, but to create, to perform, to learn his craft and use it, hopefully as he sad 'to elevate the human condition'. He appreciates the fanbase and ensuing money and clout that enable him now to pick only projects he likes, but that is what he has said many times--he wants to do projects HE LIKES, that appeal to HIMSELF. He wants to do what he wants for his reasons. He has a plan wth other goals, and he is on the way to achieving them, and having fanbase and the financial backing certainly enable him to achieve his goals, but the goal was neither to dazzle nor to impress, but to create and do what he wants to do.

Not everyone who wants to act, or goes into acting, does it to entertain or to be part of the entertainment business or culture.

I think the original discussion overheard about prosthetics was in fun. Rob seems to have a clear view of the distinction between fame/fans and the work itself. Hopefully he’ll never get to the point where he confuses the two. One’s ephemeral – and shifting sand - the other is what remains. Kipling’s “If” does apply...

@DeDe - I don't know. I think there are a lot of working, successful actors who don't 'draw a crowd' or have screaming fans but still have thriving careers - and consider themselves artists. And then there are movie stars. And then there are international superstars. Each is its own kind of business and in their own way, each probably envies things about the others. :)
