A whole year?!?!?!?

There was less time between NM & Eclipse!!!

Bad move Summit. I think most of the "twilight" steam will be gone by then.

Let this franchise run it's course so we can see these actors in other things.

not.THAT.girl said...

Holy cr*p, they want to drag it out, its too long, BD was the weakest of the saga, the first part is better, (naked robward, yummy) why not cash in like they have with everything else twilight and release it in the summer of 2012.
Why summit WHY???

Lets count 2007-2012...It's 5 years taken out of life...

Jesus Summit REALLY???I'm able to understand motive of your move sonofthebitch but WHY PG13?

If most of the audience as far as not bored yet will be adult already

*high sarcasm*

Anonymous said...

This is stupid! They are draging it out... I don't think it's a good idea at all. Okay for two parts but they could have released them with a six months period. No reason now for a PG13, by then all the young fans will be over 18 and I'm not talking about my own age... LOL... Money, money, money...
All the cast is moving on and they are gonna have to put up with this for another two years... Ridiculous and useless!

Delle1 said...

Far out......Why make us wait that long....it's ridiculous....ppl would've died in that time waiting for the final movie, how sad.....

There was a problem with Disqus. Kate sent me a text and woke me up. We fixed it. The next post will be Disqus again but this one is good ole comments :))

I'm going back to sleep...

Oh and Summit...2012? Really? I'll be too old to stand the screaming kids by then :)

Muah!

If they are going to shoot part 1 and 2 together, why is part 2 going to hit the theatres one year later?

modestypatch said...

Just ridiculous!

Summit: Let them move on PLEASE!

Also, I needed it to be a summer release so I could plan to go to the premiere. (Not selfish at all, I know.)

RPG: I'll be there for ya and with ya! NBU!!!

Merissa said...

It really sucks Why should it be a year apart? We should start a petition to change the reales date like right know.

Ana73 said...

Wow, this really sucks. i really thought it would be a June 2012 release date. I wonder what is coming out that weekend to push BDII to Nov. Even Harry Potter the last one is a Nov/'June release. Major screw up by summit :(

Poor Rob, Kristen, and Taylor. You know they're cursing at the skies today. Crystal - I agree, I just want to see these actors doing other movies.

Horrible move Summit. How can they actually expect for the buzz to last that long? They're gonna have to spend some serious dinero to keep it going until 2012.

I love the films and love the books, but honestly, don't know if I'll still be into them in 2012!

Anonymous said...

summit is slowly killing me....

solas said...

I agree it is a drag, but is it possible that the main actors have other things lined up after BD 1, that would mean pushing off filming? Or perhaps that making 2 films back to back requires more skillful (and more time-consuming) editing, etc?

solas said...

Does anyone know how long it took to film the 2 parts of Deathly Hallows, and when they started and when they are due to come out?

Ciara said...

hey are we back to the old comment format again? aw I liked the new one!

Anyway, november 2012 is such a stoopid idea. Release them in the same year even 6/7 months apart. I mean clearly they want to drag the money making side out as long as possible - but its not like noone knows what happens!!!! IT'S A FREAKIN BOOK!!!! D'oh!

Ciara said...

and another thing - aren't the cast filming the two parts back to back or simultaneously? Either way I suppose that would be good for them because they can move on to other projects (and by them I mean Rob because I dont give a fiddlers toot what KSTEW gets up to) and since they will hopefully have both films in the can by the middle of next year they relaly should release them both in 2011.

wonder if they would take heed of a petition? ...Meh don't think I have the energy or conviction to start one.

RobsessedCindy said...

Buzz kill! Why drag it out so long when they are filming both at the same time? I feel bad for the cast (Rob) too. They are so ready to move on to other projects and the fans are ready for that too.

sarsaparilla said...

Does that mean I have to take my son for BD2 as he will officially become thirteen that year!! Nah!! I will talk him into some trashy action film so I can watch it alone!!WHat abt BD1 when does it get released?

CCluvsau said...

I think this has something to do with box office sales. I heard a lot about new moon doing a little better because it was released in November.

For some odd reason movies dont do as well in the summer. But they are forgetting this has already been going on for 4 years and pol want to see the finale. Even the cast does.

OMG why so far apart - torture, absolute torture.

If they do that then they are going to need a refresher of the first one!!

Sales side, I get - but fan side - this frackin' sucks!!!

tgill said...

@Crystal I don't think that is necessarily true. If you look at grosses for both movies Eclipse is currently over 11m ahead of NM for the same no of days released, and this is a ferociously competitive time of year. So whatever Summits reasoning it doesn't seem to be about summer BO

Vangie said...

hi ladies i could not remember my pass word so i just went to ted's suprise they was not bashing rob today and veraxx,i thought most people loved the girl and i used to think W--1but now i feel that i am not living in the twilight zone and so rob will be 25 great

Vangie said...

hi gozde, enjoy your rest,i love hear make me feel like old times, summit why, why, all the kids will be grown and our rob will be still as gordeous to his real fans on robsessed, since we are on this old comments who is cheky chops i hope i have this correct

CCluvsau said...

@tg I'm not sure of any exact numbers but the articles were saying at certain points of release nm did better. I believe it was something like although Eclipse had a bigger midnight opening (due to more theaters ) but new moon did better overall the first week in north america.

I could care less of course this is still a horrible move on summits part. They'll make more money sum '12 than late nov because not as many ppl will still be interested.

And like someone said it's not kind we font know what happens lmao. No need for the long wait.
Cmon summit.

TotallyRobbed said...

When the dust has settled and Rob's out of his contract with Summit, it will be interesting to hear his opinion on them and the way they handled release dates, publicity and junkets. Talk about flogging their product - they want to hold on to Rob's name as long as they can. Certainly looks like Rob's experience doing Bel Ami and now WFE has been much sweeter and closer to his heart.

BD2 will 2 years old by it's release date - outrageous - it's insulting to Rob and his fans that they're so money minded about things. Release them 6 months apart and Free Rob.

Marna said...

This really sucks, 18 months until part 1 & then another year for part 2? Why did they release the first 3 movies so close together? They deserve to lose all the fans that will walk away, those assholes, Scummit pisses me off.

Oh and Kate " I'll be an old lady when the saga ends...and so will Rob...he won't be a lady though.."

Solas -- DH filming started in February 2009 and ended June this year. Part I comes out November 19this year (ONE DAY AFTER MY BDAY!) and part II comes out July 15 2011.

Heygrrl86 said...

I'm not happy about this AT ALL. Not cuz I'm a big twihard and I can't wait to see Isle Esme (which i'm not). But I just want my fav. cast members to be free of Twilight. I'm happy for the opportunities that Twilight has given them. I'm the supporting cast members are more than happy to drag the fucker out, but I honestly don't see Kristen and Rob celebrating the fact that they will have to endure the Robsten/ Isle Esme/ Satan's spawn jabs and comments. I know they're adults and they can handle themselves, but still. I love them and I want them free of Twilight.

ROBsessed89_MIAwithROB said...

aggrr wtf SUMMIT we demand a real good reason for this and $$$$$$$ is not a good one!!!

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

Filming will still be all at once, it's the release that's being held out.

More money, and can drag out the gold mine as long as they can...

Plus the actors have to be available for the promos...

Marna said...

novmbrBB, I know I'm going to catch hell for saying this, but I don't think you can compare DH with BD. JK Rowling is a 100 times better writer than Stephanie Meyer, the HP movies are 100 times better written than the Twilight movies, & yes, I'm going to say it, the acting in the HP movies is much better. Having that much time between HP movies gets you better quality, that much time between Twilight movies only gets Summit more money. They couldn't even spring for a decent wig for Bella in Eclipse, so they can't pretend it's to make the movie better.

Pandora said...

Just saying, Lord of the Rings (yeah I know. Miles ahead in terms of quality and story) was released a year apart too. And not because of shooting. They filmed all 3 movies back to back too.

The suspension will last for a year. It worked for LotR too. People want to know how it ends, and they will hit theaters when it comes out. No matter if there are 6 months in between or 12.

Summit knows this, and of course, a year longer between movies means more money. More stupid merchandise bought by even more stupid fans. Combined with the whole Robsten drama and you have the people by their nuts (in this case their ovaries). Its like PR 101 here.

solas said...

Thanks nvmber--so then it IS feasible to tale less time.

Ciara said...

@Marna totaly agree with your comments on DH and Jk Rowling and SM as well as your comments on the films themselves.

I'll be on your team when are punished for our thoughts ;)

Heygrrl86 said...

Marna-- If you catch any hell, it won't be from me! I agree with you 1000000000% If you ever see me comparing HP to Twi, call my psychiatrist cuz I've just had a nervous breakdown. I was just giving Solas some DH date she asked for in a previous post.

Solas-- Yeah I def think its possible for them to have released Part two sooner. I agree with the theory that Summit didn't want to compete with the Summer blockbusters of 2011.

I don't think the date has anything to do with the actors' availability bcuz 1) they had no problem with Rob and Jackson not being there for most of the Eclipse promo and 2) as of now the major 3 don't have anything set to be filmed in the summer of 2011, as far as I know.

annacrispeta said...

1. I don't want to poison myself with the timetable so I will make believe the delay in the second one is because it needs so many more special effects; Renesmee will be very complex if she is CGI, and all the extra vampire abilities will need more time too. I will also delude myself believing that Summit is really into giving us the best this time around...

2. NM hasn't made more than Eclipse yet. Mojo says that New Moon made $296,623,634 domestic and $413,203,156 foreign = Worldwide: $709,826,790 in 19 weeks. Up till July 30th, Eclipse has made $288,848,358 domestic and $356,700,000 foreign = Worldwide: $645,548,358 in 4.9 weeks. Which means that Eclipse will easily make the 64 million difference in the coming weeks, even surpass New Moon. So the june/november dilemma would not be an issue. Must be the "milking the gold-egg-laying-hen" thing, then.

solas said...

I try to give the benefit of the doubt and don't want to think of Summit as greedy evil money-hungry saliva-dripping handwringing little buggers, so I would like to hear a rational reason behind the time frame. However, i will agree with you, Marna, about Deathly Hallows, the whole HP series, the writers, the acting, etc.

Marna said...

Thanks Solas, Verax, & nobmbrBB. At least I know I'm not alone LOL

Jazz_Girl317 said...

This is beyond the dumbest thing they could possibly do. If they were smart, they'd actually push BD2 up to a presummer release...April or May of 2013. This pisses me off beyond the pale.

lallieb said...

@Marna, ITA. This really does suck and not just because of having to wait for this damn thing to end (I could well be in the "home" if not assisted living!), but I think that Summmit is totally, irrevocably, and shamelessly only looking at dollar signs with this release strategy. I'm conjuring Nik's take what drives Hollywood suits. What really bothers me is that Rob, et al, will have to endure the excessive promotion, MTV awards, Teen Choice, Comic Con AGAIN twice! By 2012 their careers will have moved on with other films and accolades (hello, WFE!) under their belts, not to mention their ages. Yup, there are 3 people out there who are cringing today at this news. They should be beyond doing Summit's behest by then, contract or not. It's just ain't right.

Anonymous said...

Could the timing be due to ComicCon and promotion? Eclipsed missed out because of it timing so no Twilight comicon for 2010.

I feel bad for Rob - he'll be 26 years old. That's absurd.

There wasn't much promotion from the trio for Eclipse - will spacing them out allow for more broadbased promotion?

The best part of BD is the first 1/2 - wedding, honeymoon, birth, and imprinting. For the 2nd 1/2 the only part of real interest is the very last pages where Bella can let Edward into her thoughts. I am really not interested in the epic battles or extraneous characters.

lallieb said...

@lydhayes, you don't think the 3 did much promo for Eclipse? Yuh, Rob got off not having to go to the other side of the planet for the whirlwind junket that K&T did, but he did sit in a hotel room for hours and hours giving interviews to every entertainment news outlet in the WORLD (his time off from filming WFE, which he probably had to negotiate). They appeared separately or together on almost every single nationally televised talk show in the US. I loved every minute, but it was definitely massive.

Anonymous said...

Rob only did Oprah, Ellen,Leno, Nightline and the Jimmy Fallon special for Eclipse. For the press junket they had everyone come to them, which must have been brutal. But, it gave the rest of us - not in LA - no opportunity to see him. Compare it to the promo of Remember Me - he was on 3 or 4 shows a day all over the US, not to mention other countries.

lallieb said...

I'm not going to split hairs here, I don't recall that much promo for RM, but just think about the fact that Jimmy Kimmel (not Fallon, I get them confused too) created a one-time primetime show special promoting Eclipse with the whole cast there, and that Oprah devoted a whole show to them. Tell me if there has been another film that has inspired that type of media attention. Kristen also did the work appearing on Lopez and enduring hours of interviews in addition to traveling to Australia and Korea. So maybe you didn't get enough of Rob, there's never enough, but the promotion was as I said massive and tiring to the people involved. Just remembered the TwiCon thing, where Rob was almost incoherent with fatigue, where they also appeared.

Kathy S said...

Actually Eclipse is $11 million ahead of New Moon for the same number of days released. The Fall 2012 release is such a stupid idea. Yeah, maybe the buzz will be gone-however, the books are still selling so a new generation of teens is buying into the saga.

LK said...

I think BD is the weakest of the books.Actually it's a bunch of c*ap.IMO,of course.I think the 2 movies were not necessary and the one year apart will be a financial suicide for Summit.

solas said...

I keep trying to think of good reasons for Summit to do this. LIke maybe bookends (first one was in November, last one in November)? I don't see how it would make more money by dragging it out; I would think less because people will have moved on to something else.

Marna said...

Solas, it's probably not how much they're going to make, it's probably about WHEN they make the money. Spreading it out in 2 different years means they will have big profits (they hope) in 2 years. Having them both come out in 2011 means they can only count on having the big profits in one year. So far, Summit hasn't had any other huge movies, they need to appear profitable as long as possible.

HeneciaD said...

ok so did we back to old comment way??

HeneciaD said...

WTF is this why its one year later ahhrr Summit you really dont deserve Rob

Nancy said...

Oh My God. A year apart after puting the others so close together. What a rip!!!!

Guess we have to watch Rob on his other movies and buy their DVD's... hehehehe Sorry Scummit, you lose.

I am a total Rob fan and will only watch or buy his DVD's. Putting Part 1 and 2 that far apart will kill the franchise, you idiots. What is wrong with you? Make it one long movie and forget the split.

Ciara said...

I think it really is ridculous because as someone else already said nothing really happens in the second half of Breaking Dawn so its going to be an anti climax anyway.

Also, for a series of books were nothing really happens and then to have the last half of the last (over long) book end with absolutely nothing happening, is a real exapmle of how poor the books -as a whole- actually are. Can we not just squish the half decent parts of BD into one film, release it next year and have it be over?!?!?!
