Robert Pattinson is the one to watch in film because the surface is just being scratched

I enjoyed a few articles that were talking about the future for the Twilight cast and Rob's future made me proud and excited. It's a new era for him and it's going to be awesome to watch it unfold.

PhotobucketExcerpt from the AP via Seattle Times:
Pattinson has made some of the most daring and impressive choices of the three of them. Before being cast as the swoony vampire Edward Cullen, the lanky British actor appeared in another blockbuster franchise as Hogwarts student Cedric Diggory in 2005's "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." In 2009, he played Salvador Dali in the barely seen "Little Ashes," and last year he starred opposite Reese Witherspoon in the circus romance "Water for Elephants" - although Associated Press reviewer David Germain wrote there was "barely a spark" between the two.
But Pattinson also has worked with the likes of David Cronenberg, starring this year in the acclaimed Canadian director's financial drama "Cosmopolis," which takes place almost entirely inside a limousine. And he'll soon work with Cronenberg again in "Maps to the Stars," and also begin shooting Werner Herzog's "Queen of the Desert."
Jones says Pattison has wisely chosen to parlay his "Twilight" fame to collaborate with serious directors and actors.
"He knows he has a certain box office appeal so the fangirls are going to see him no matter what he's in," she said. "People are willing to work with him the first time, they see all this potential he has, then they want to come back and work with him again."
Constantinescu echoed those thoughts: "He's the one to watch for additional films down the line," he said. "We are just scratching the surface with Robert."
Excerpt from The Playlist:
Robert Pattinson
Before "Twilight": R-Patz had relatively few credits before he was R-Patz -- he was cut out of Mira Nair's "Vanity Fair," but bounced back with a major role as the ill-fated Cedric Diggory in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." A couple of small British TV roles and indies, "How To Be" and "Little Ashes," followed, most of which only really found audiences once he'd found success with the vampire franchise.
Chances Of Success After "Twilight": Strong creatively, but the financial success outside of "Twilight" has yet to come. The actor has found a huge female fanbase as a result of playing ageless vamp Edward Cullen, which helped Pattinson vehicles "Remember Me" and "Water For Elephants" find moderate success. Still, the Twihards mostly won't turn up for films outside the romantic weepie wheelhouse -- "Bel Ami" took a dreadful $120,000 earlier this year, and "Cosmopolis" didn't do much better, with a mere $750,000.
Still, to his credit, those films are indicative of his desire to work with interesting filmmakers, and a willingness to stretch himself, and that's something that looks to continue.
On the way, he has the apocalyptic thriller "The Rover," from "Animal Kingdom" director David Michod, "Man On Wire" helmer James Marsh's "Hold On To Me" with Carey Mulligan, a reunion with Cronenberg on "Maps To The Stars," and he's lined up to play T.E. Lawrence for Werner Herzog in period adventure "Queen Of The Desert," alongside Naomi Watts and Jude Law. They're all far from the obvious picks for a heartthrob, and even if the performances haven't necessarily wowed, we're sure he'll only continue to improve. But will his built-in audience stick around? A smart move might be to take something action/thriller-y targeted at the mainstream, to try and win a male following. Perhaps something like "American Assassin," which Chris Hemsworth just vacated.
Excerpt from VH1:
Robert Pattinson: Rob seems hellbent on defying any and every box you might want to place him in, post Twilight, so his range of projects is vast. In pre-production, he’s got Mission: Blacklist, in which he’ll play a military interrogator who helped find Saddam Hussein; Hold On to Me, in which he’ll play the love interest of Carey Mulligan, who’s plotting to kidnap the town’s richest guy; The Rover, about car thieves in the Australian Outback; and Queen of the Desert, about early-20th-century archaelogist Gertrude Bell (played by Naomi Watts). Then it looks like he’ll be re-teaming with Cosmopolis helmer David Cronenberg for something called Maps to the Stars. We’re breathless after just summarizing all that.
I'm going to like seeing mainstream take notice of Rob's talent more and more. The pigeon-holed him for so long and all his future roles will really let him explore untapped corners in his skill set. I know I don't need to ask you guys if you're as excited as I am because we've been saying these things in the articles for years. ;)

Love so much that Rob is finally getting praise for his amazing talent and film choices. When he's on the screen I can't take my eyes off of him. Excellent actor and with a great personality to match. So proud to be his fan.

Gozde said...

What else to say than......FINALLLY they start to see it....it took a long time for alot of people to throw their blinkers away !

Gozde said...

Now these articles are truly something to be excited about. I am so happy about Rob's upcoming career choices it's unreal. I just wish it was January already (that way I don't have to worry about cooking Christmas dinner - #copout). Bring on post-Twilight Rob, I'm behind you all the way Rob x

Gozde said...

Yes finally! And hopefully he will get more self assured with allthese praise... But then maybe it is keeping himself grounded?

Gozde said...

Grounded is a word we all love no ?;-)

Gozde said...

Hey ladies! Robert is now in a fantastic position. He has the world at his feet and he can choose the direction in which he wants to go. He's inteligent. Whatever movie he makes, I'll see it with pleasure (and then talk about it endlessly) LOL I'm sure that they'll broaden my horizons.

Gozde said...

LOL! I would appreciate a good mixture of being grounded and feeling lightly at the same time ;)

Gozde said...

He's certainly going to be very busy next year and with smart choices too. I'm excited for him to break away from the Twilight/Vampire stigma...but, I'll always be thankful for it or we wouldn't be here and neither would he and getting these awesome roles. Go..Rob!

Gozde said...

I'm really looking forward to seeing Rob stretch his wings. After reading The Rover, I can say I'll probably be hiding my eyes for most of the film but the guys will love it. Great storyline and Rey is... well, going to be a fun part for Rob to play.

Gozde said...

You are right, I think things couldn´t have worked out better for him busineswise. The Cronenberg connection was really heaven sent and is opening doors he othewise maybe would have been waiting for years I think.

Gozde said...

Sorry for asking you but where can you find the storyline of the film ? Much appreaciated thanks :-)

Gozde said...

I believe Rob is only going to keep improving in his acting skills when he is paired with people he is more excited to work with and with films with a creative edge. I know he is appreciative of the Twilight Saga and all it has brought him good and bad, but his face lights up when he talks about these other projects and Cosmopolis. I see it in countless interviews and it is good to see, because I also see that confidence shine through that even though it may be scary to him he is ready to tackle all these challenging roles and we are better for it. I agree with these other critics, he is definitely the one to watch, and I will continue to keep watching because he was the one I wanted to watch from the start, not Kristen or Taylor. Kristen and Taylor are good actors and I may watch some of their film projects in the future, but I will be there to watch Rob in every single movie he performs in and I am certain I will be riveted.

Gozde said...

It's true. Cosmopolis was a milestone in his career.

Gozde said...

Hello Lady ;-) I agree with you , I will also go watch every single film of his, no matter what and I will enjoy discussing, and reading the books, storylines etc from what the films are based on......broadening our horizons and challenging ourselves in
film taste is the deal when it comes to Robert isnt it ? Robert would probably be proud of us, I would like to think , quietly throwing ourselves heads first in to all sorts of films and novels, that some of us ,perhaps havent seen the light of before we discovered him....?

Gozde said...

It was just meant to be :)

Gozde said...

Very amazing and interesting -both adjectives could be used to describe the man himself and his lined-up projects. I feel honored and contented knowing that I'll be a proud spectator when each of these projects starts unfolding. Wishing him a continuous success in whatever path he chooses. Go get them, Rob! :)

Gozde said...

He leads. We follow. ;)

Gozde said...

I don't know why these don't include the worldwide box office takings in these articles, Cosmopolis made $6,063,556 at the box office if foreign takings included and Bel Ami $8,303,261 both not bad considering the limited release, why undermine these films unnecessarily. Rob should just do what he finds interesting that way he can put his heart into it.

Gozde said...

Now there is a site to see! I Love to see you lurking in the day, it really puts a smile on my face:)
Totally agree with the words.....amazing and interesting, when describing the man and his project!
I am so excited for this chapter of his life to get started also. I can't wait for the rest of the world to see what we have scene and for them to finally take notice or his acting talent. He is such a diverse talented actor and I believe the films he has lined up for the coming year will show this. Yes Rob, go get em!!

Gozde said...

Well, don't I know it! Go, Rob, go!!!

He is all around gifted! He can act, draw and make sweet, sweet music!!!:) On top of the fact that he is so humble, chivalrous, charming, intelligent... shall I continue?

Gozde said...

Because they are not interested in "FACTS"... and if it doesn't make $$$$$$'s within the States it doesn't count... because nothing seems to count outside the US and Hollywood. (sarcasm) plus it's Robert Pattinson... that Twilight guy and I bet some of these Critics are choking right now cause they wouldn't listen to us women. :-D

Gozde said...

Why do I imagine a pretty gander waddeling in front of a line of gaggling geese?

Gozde said...

I think so too, yes, it really was fate. I often think about how this young man influences so many people with just his being. So many thoughts going in the same direction.... what an energy!

Gozde said...

I don't think it's public yet. (My boyfriend had the screenplay and let me read it. He works in the industry.)

Gozde said...

I see the cartoon, did you ever watch Aristocats, remember the waddling geese in the beginning? !

Gozde said...

Yeah exactly that is the picture ;)

Gozde said...

I am glad they have all now opened up their eyes to the talent of Robert Pattinson - something we have all seen!

Gozde said...

Satine88 well said ;-)

Gozde said...

I'll join because I feel the same way.

Gozde said...

Yep! Can't wait to scratch the rest. So proud of you Rob!

Gozde said...

Lucky you. I will ask one thing, if you let me, is it an action thriller?

Gozde said...

Ok, time will provide us eventually, thank you ;-)

Gozde said...

I don't know. That's definitely not what I mean! LOL!

Gozde said...

Even Water for Elephants international take was more successful than the US release, if I recall correctly. Hollywood studios have lamented the poor showing of films for the last dozen years, yet they continue to restrict their ideas of what should be produced along the same narrow lines, narrowing the same old ideas further and further. I see lots of big names have films that are released on VOD at the same time as in the theater - Margin Call led by Kevin Spacey and Melancholia led by Kirsten Dunst are just 2 films I thought about seeing in the theater and found on VOD at the same time. Woody Allen's films have almost notoriously performed significantly better in the international rather than the US box office for much of his career.

Twilight is the name in movies and books that soooo many just love to hate. I agree Rob's extreme popularity amongst women boggles some (small, simplistic) minds. It doesn't fit their formulaic approach to life. They can't explain or understand the phenomenon, so rather than just "feel" it without having to define it like the crazy fandom, they belittle it.

I cannot wait for all of these movies by Rob. Honestly, I never go to the movies anymore and I used to love you. The last movies I saw in a theater? BD2, Cosmopolis, Bel Ami, BD1 and WFE. Do you see a theme? And honestly, I now find the movie going experience in Manhattan annoying and crappy. Loud people talking, people with their children (yes, in both BD movies!! - and I am talking at least a dozen toddlers in the audience for BD1), crappy surround sound which sounds like shit to me. I like watching from the comfort of my home, except for Rob of course, because I simply cannot wait and I want to support him.

Gozde said...

I do believe in fate :) DC was the best thing to happen to Rob and to see them together was such a joy, he was definitely the person who gave Rob the confidence we can see in him today, you could see the change happening in his interviews at Cannes :)

Gozde said...

I agree..

Gozde said...

;-)

Gozde said...

I think DC and Rob have a bond like DC and Viggo beyond their professional relationship they are friends and share a mutual respect.

Gozde said...

I didn't appreciate this comment: "and even if the performances haven't necessarily wowed, we're sure he'll only continue to improve."
He did so wow. He's an amazing actor right now. He doesn't need to improve, though I am sure he will grow and change. But at least the articles are giving him credit, and I guess that is what is important. How can anyone not love him?!

Gozde said...

So true. I would never have read Cosmopolis if he weren't in the movie.

Gozde said...

Yeah...can you give us a hint , maybe a very short plot summary ?!?

Gozde said...

Yeah! Although I really, really, really hope he doesn't do something like American Assassin....Ugh, it's a weird rip off of Jason Bourne, random military novels, and the Reacher novels with a xenophobic undertone. It will probably be a pretty successful film series, but it's a hot mess imo. So I'm kind of confused...I can't remember where I read this, but it was definitely a serious, legit website, but they said that Rob, Viggo, and Rachel still haven't signed on the dotted line for Map to the Stars? May have been Deadline...Are people positive that this Map to the Stars is a sure thing this year? I'm sure it will eventually happen, but is it really going to start filming in the next six or seven months or are people jumping the gun? I could have sworn in one Rob interview he said he was doing The Rover in Australia and then the Carey Mulligan film in LA....I wouldn't be surprised if it was The Rover in Australia, the Carey Mulligan film in LA, and then QOTD in the Middle East. It's just strange, because I know I read somewhere that the Carey Mulligan film was going to be filmed in the early Spring and supposedly that was when the QOTD is supposed to start also. So I'm kind of confused by the schedule. Granted, I think his role in QOTD is a smaller supporting role and his role in the Carey Mulligan film is a much juicier, large supporting role. So perhaps he will only be on the QOTD set for a couple of weeks to a month? After all, they usually don't stick around the set the entire time unless they are needed (I'm guessing because of the high cost of insuring actors)...I'm pretty sure Jessica Chastain was filming another role while The Help was still being filmed (in which she had a that part for which she got nominated for a BSA).

Gozde said...

I think so too, it was evident during the press tour. You really can see the glimpse of joy and interest in DC´s eyes when he looks at Rob. And he is not one who is impressed easily I think... Can´t wait how Viggo and Rob will get along :)

Gozde said...

It is hard to describe. Lot of gunplay. (Guys will love it.) I wouldn't say thriller.

Gozde said...

I'm most excited for The Rover and Hold on to Me (the Carey Mulligan film), primarily because those appear to be the films in which he has strong supporting roles and seem to have a good chance of garnering both critical success and some great indie box office success. Mission Black List should be interesting and a great juicy lead role, but it kind of seems like it's on the back burner for now...I'm not going to get all excited for Map to the Stars until the film comes together more (i.e. everyone signs on the dotted line)...QOTD should be really good, and fantastic for him to work with Jude Law, Naomi Watts, and Herzog. I get a little more excited though when he's lead/the main supporting actor, and since at one point they were calling his role in The Rover the lead (I think Guy Pearce is technically the lead, but that Rob will get a hell of a lot of screen time and his supporting role will be incredibly strong) and because the role in Hold on to Me was described as a very strong supporting role, I tend to be a little more excited for those films. It'd be great if he can get nominated for an Indie Spirit/Golden Globe/SAG/possibly Oscar for those films...they certainly have the pedigree.

Gozde said...

Now that is going to be truly interesting..I remember reading about Sam Riley ( plays in OTR ) being totally intimidated in advance by Viggo Mortensen, as Sam was told that Viggo enjoys discussing Nietzche ! Sound familiar..? I can easily see Robert,Viggo and David discussing pros and cons of Nietzche, in that leather sofa we talked about rememeber ?! Runs off reading Kirkegaard, Nietzche and other easy read litterature LOL !

Gozde said...

The role in Hold on to Me is actually quite small but I'm hoping they bulk it up before shooting.

Gozde said...

Imagine the old west - but instead of the past; its an downtrodden future where it seems hope is lost and everyone is clawing and clamoring to survive. A man (Eric) making his way through a seemingly lawless wasteland runs into trouble and gets sidetracked when his classic car is stolen. He has to deal with a number of odd characters while trying to get back on course. Rey, a somewhat troubled criminal, has his own journey to travel. Their paths intersect and a sort of friendship occurs. I won't say anymore. Don't want to cause any problems. Can't wait to see what Rob does with this character.

Gozde said...

I think Viggo and Rob are kindred souls...artistic, multi-talented and don't give a fig for Hollywood and won't play the game. Which is just what David is like. I'd love to sit around with them, just to listen to what they would talk about.

Gozde said...

Guy Pierce, if he is playing Eric, is the lead. Rey/Reynolds, the part Rob plays has the second most amount of screen time and is crucial to the movie.

Gozde said...

It's a good read. And I imagine it will be a great movie.

Gozde said...

:-) I believe in fate too and am so curious where it will guid Rob... Can you imagine how the work with the new great directors will further develop his skills and confidence?

Gozde said...

I so would love that too Bwen !

Gozde said...

" it without having to define it like the crazy fandom, they belittle it."

Exactly!
Aren't Critic suppose to be open minded? Yes, they are so many narrow minded ones.

Gozde said...

That is what I thought too and I love them both.

Gozde said...

I know and I can't wait :)

Gozde said...

His role in QOTD is expanded for him, but I don't know how big it is. Rob has said in an interview that his manager is desperatingly trying to fix the schedules, not hard to believe him on this one :)

Gozde said...

You definitely belong to the 1% club!!

Gozde said...

Thanks, kikiduh. So if I understand you well, we won't see Mad Max costumes but dirty jeans and boots and shirts? (when his weird photoshoot in Vogue appeared, a lot of the posters here pictured him like that in The Rover, but I wanted him dirty like in the old westerns) LOL

Gozde said...

As long as it is not Baudrillard or Foucault. LOL An expert of these two has interpreted DeLillo's Cosmopolis according to the vision of B and F and bashed Cronenberg repeatedly on comment boards for not having understood the novel. If David, Rob and Viggo would sit on the coach with her, fire would break loose, garantee :)

Gozde said...

During promo I often had the impression that David felt a kind of fatherly tenderness towards Rob. Maybe he recognized elements in Rob he had himself at that age. Don't know though, 'cause I don't know who David was when he was young but I found it endearing to see the two together.

Gozde said...

BB I think I remember that poster ;-) I remember when I was a child people would say that some people are so intelligent that they become crazy, LOL Apart from that I believe that the multilayer story that Cosmopolis is there is not
only one version of understanding it, but many, and that makes it both interesting and intruiging to discuss , for interlectuals and non-interlectuals........;-))))

Gozde said...

That is my stupid visual brain that always comes up with the weirdest ideas ;)

Gozde said...

Rob did a very smart move in taking a long break after Cosmopolis (just as Nik said at the time). He could've chosen other parts but he decided to wait and see what effect his teaming with David Cronenberg had on other directors. A splendid effect as we see now. It couldn't come better: after BDII hit theatres it'd be normal that the movie press was gonna wonder what will come of the actors, they did after Harry Potter too. Nobody (or almost nobody) talks about his break, they talk about all the projects he has in the pipeline, the most of the three leads. The cherish on the cake ( right expr?) is David, once again, isfulfilling his intention to work with Rob again. Better promo isn't thinkable. Like Jones in The Seattle Times said: people (directors) give him a chance, they notice his range and are willing to work again with him. Or, as Chris Weitz has said once: "What we see of Rob here is only the top of the iceberg" (or something like that).
His next projects will be determining for his career. Cronenberg is known for getting the best out of the actors. Now Rob has to prove that he's able to give amazing performances no matter which director he's working with. No wonder he's terrified, but he'll manage.

Gozde said...

is the future recognizable? or is it a future where they use technology we don't have, type of future. i guess im trying to ask if it reads slightly sci-fi future or still grounded in our reality type of future.

Gozde said...

I remember Eric is in jeans and a tee. I think Rey and the other 3 from his gang were dressed similarly (the four of them are supposed to be Americans). They are definitely dusty and dirty. (I absolutely DO remember that Rey's shirt comes off a time or two.) The number of accents in this movie is going to be tough. Especially for English Rob who will be doing a Southern (U.S.) accent while speaking to an Aussie, surrounded by Cambodian and Mandarin Chinese. Testing his skills, indeed.

Gozde said...

The depth of despair I felt while reading it came from realizing that this could very well be next week or next year. How easily life could be reset back to this kind of existence.

Gozde said...

Sounds fab n very intriguing...so looking forward to it & thanks so much for sharing ;)

Gozde said...

@kikiduh:disqus do you mind if i make a post about your comments? you haven't spoiled anything or shared much of the script but the info would be enjoyable for readers who don't pop into the comments section in this post.

Gozde said...

wow...i like that. i like that it's set in a scary future BECAUSE it's not a stretch in the mind.

Gozde said...

I think Rob might not have too much experience with philosophic literature (or mybe he has and we just don´t know..) but he is well read and has a natural sense of philosophy so I think he could hold his own with the two and also learn a lot what he wouldn´t mind for sure. Ok while you are off reading Nietsche I´m going to zzzzzzzzzz good night!

Gozde said...

ZZZZZZ to you too IT Tech Support no 2 !

Gozde said...

These are great, insightful news that you share with us, thank you so much kikiduh!!!! Hope we will see you around in the future!

Gozde said...

Maybe if you leave my name out of it and keep it general...? My guy'd probably flip if he knew I was talking about it! :O

Gozde said...

i'll leave your name out and keep things general. you gave fun, minimal info. :) thanks again!

Gozde said...

i know what you mean..it drives me crazy. it is like foreign takings aren't money or something!!??

Gozde said...

likewise!! the only downer is that there will likely be no rob film out next year......a long drought ahead for us perhaps??

Gozde said...

This is the film I am looking most forward to. Your description has increased my anticipation a hundred fold. No wonder Rob wanted to do this film. Cannot wait. Thanks for sharing.

Gozde said...

Oh you know! It came spontaneously in my mind: " Oh no, everybody but Baudrillard" LOL 'cause this week I got reply nr X to a comment of mine elsewhere.
I don't know this poster apart from the fact she's highly intelligent and often gives a very very deep insight (too deep for me at times) but I don't go into discussion, I can't reach that kind of level and I don't want to :). I prefer the idea that real intelligence has to do with explaining difficult matter in an easy way rather than competing against each other with difficult words and complex thoughts.
A Beautiful Mind was a nice example of the blurred line between genius and crazyness but once again, don't know the poster in question in person.

Gozde said...

Thank you , kikiduh! I don't like futuristic costumes (exept in photoshoots of Vogue :) ).
Apart from the accents, I also think that playing a "simpleton", whatever that may mean, is going to be a big challenge, I mean to perform it convincingly. But, if well done, it can give an actor a lot of acclaim.
I was wondering if Rob has to play a real retarded person or someone who fools everybody in pretending to be more simple than he is.
Please don't answer if it can get you in troubles, I'll wait until there's more news about the story.

Gozde said...

Thanks for sharing. This info, as little and random as it is, have me really excited for the movie. Great cast, superb Director, oh Rob what are you doing to us!

Gozde said...

I think if I were to answer that - either way; it could affect how you look at Rey. I'm looking forward to Rob's vision and how he will portray him. His take on the character could be miles away from mine or yours. He played Edward a bit differently than he was written and really created a depth that wasn't there previously so who the heck knows what he'll build into Reynolds. Giddy with anticipation!

Gozde said...

I read the entire article under Rob news. I was excited to read the good things about Rob. Sorry Tink, I am glad you posted here in Robsessed. Even though I was upset when I read the part of the box office numbers for Cosmopolis and Bel Ami. Anyway, It was a good read about his future projects and the interesting choices he made for this acting career. I am a proud Rob fan

Gozde said...

Hi. *shyly waves* Ditto with your comment putting a smile to my face.
I'm also excited with what the future has in store for Rob. And for the world to truly see him as the actor that he is... eek ! 2013,please come faster. That is, if the Mayan thing is not true. Heh. ;)
But I guess waiting is also a good thing. Rob needs all the rest he could get now before diving headfirst to filming. Yep,it's a good thing. :-)

Gozde said...

have you read the script?

Gozde said...

is he really playing a mentally retarded person as some have said?

Gozde said...

Funny you mention the Mayan thing, because my youngest told his dad he wanted his Christmas present early, because the world Will be ending soon. Lets just hope and pray their calendar was wrong, December 21 is the day, right? I would quite like to see Rob's bright future unfold. What a shame it would be to not see that:( Let's just get enough of him as possible while we can , and if we are still alive after the 21 of Dec., then we will have even more to enjoy!!

Gozde said...

Agree with you 100% Christine!

Gozde said...

I love that people in the industry are finally waking up & seeing what we've been saying for years!! We knew he was talented & an excellent actor and boy did he show us when he did Cosmopolis. I so can't wait to see what Rob yet still has to pull out of the hat! The Rover sounds really fabulous and working with Guy - really excited for Rob in this - sounds like a meaty interesting role (from what I read down below - thanks for that). Just looking forward to 2013, full stop. Going to be a busy and very interesting, exciting time for Rob and hopefully us too!!

Gozde said...

A Beautiful Mind was a great film, it made a great impact on me...played so well by Russel Crowe...!

I really like what you say about real intelligence as well, it is so true, that the more cerebral some people become they
seem to compete with each other in a sort of crazy word play. It does seem that they maybe consciously or non-.consciously, want to carry on playing in their own league, where the more less cerebral are not invited ....

Why explain difficult matters/issues in a complex way ? The art of that is exactly what you say, explain it in an easy way as possible, and at the same time acknowledging the person who you are explaining it to.By doing that even the most difficult matters can be understood , and that is also excellent teaching ! ;-)

Gozde said...

oh no I´m no tech Support at all... if I ever do something right it is pure accident.....

Gozde said...

I like Viggo very much, such an interesting and versatile man! A true artist like Rob. He experienced a somehow similar thing with Lord of the Rings like Rob with Twilight, didn´t he? And is is so good to see that there ARE actors and directors out there who don´t play the Hollywood game.... The mainstrem media want to make us belief that it is all about the superficial block buster... But thank heaven it is not :) Remember out cosy sofa scenario with David and Rob? Now we can have one with Viggo too if he doesn´t mind LOL ;)

Gozde said...

Aww. Your son is so cute to ask that, despite the reason. LOL Yes, I remember it's the 21st. Actually I don't know what to make of this 'end of the world ' thing. But what do we know, right? Only the One above knows when it will really be. :-) I just do my best to enjoy life and Rob. :D I'll probably ask for a refund though if I would not be able to see all Rob's coming films. lol

Gozde said...

The Mayan calendar was too complicated for even them to follow. I quite like the idea of a refund though, if something was to happened. My little one is constantly trying to out smart us. I told him yesterday to use his knife and fork to eat, because he is not an animal, and he looks at me, and said, actuall mom, the last time I check, I think, actually, I know we are characterize as animal, so that makes me an animal. I left the kitchen because i didnt want to hurt him. he is only 9yrs. He always has a comeback, I shouldn't have taught him to read.
Hey no problem for the late reply, RL calls sometime. I love chatting when I see you. Plus you know I can't resist the name!! One day I will explain why I like the name:) going up to answer your other post from last night.

So, if The Rover were a book, Rey would be a character we can discuss, just the way we did with Edward, Georges Duroy, Eric Packer. Nothing new with ol' Rob LOL. I was already curious about this project and with your help, I'm even more. Patience is a nice virtue :)) Thanks for your info!

I think for some people it's pretension: trying to belong to an elitist group, far above the common people. IMHO they're intelligent, not wise, not social. You can pick them immediately :)
For other people it has more to do with their comfort zone. They feel at ease in their bubble where they can lean on their immense aknowledge, it's their second nature, but get them out of their little world and they feel at times helpless. They're intelligent, they're wise but they often lack social abilities. You respect their immense talents but you can't help to feel sorry for them too.
And then there're those who combine the three factors. They put everything into perspective, realizing that they got that gift of being highly intelligent but that it means nothing when you don't try to be a good man either and respect those who have other gifts.
PS If I'm not wrong it was spring 2010 when Gozde had to make that decision. It was necessary but also kind of sad that she had to do it, but now you know why I don't go into discussion :)

Hey we'll just pull up an over sized leather club chair for him and he can join the discussion...I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

Full reply on the other post. Teehee. :-)

Not sure, but I wonder if they look at income vs. outcome-- perhaps judging success by profit over what is spent. We most of us judge success, at least for Rob, by his achieving new learning, new experiences with new directors, exploring different genres and roles, but the way of the world for the most part is to judge by financial success. It might not seem right or appealing or worthy, but it is what pays the bills and gets films made, except for wealthy people willing to put up money for art, not as an investment seeking financial profit. I wonder how many of us, before we knew of Rob, would have considered investing in films just to have them made, not caring for any return of the money. Even now, if we had extra millions, most of us, I think, would use it to invest in films for ROb but perhaps not for many others or any others. I am understanding the workings a bit more now, and I see that if Rob wants certain films made, or wants certain director experiences, perhaps he has to make enough 'popular' (read financially successful) films to not only be considered a 'bankable draw' but also perhaps to fund what he wishes to be made. The other option is to do other work (such as representing a company like Gucci or Dior) which will pay for films to be made.

I guess not :) Then we provide some good beverage and snacks and perk up our ears ;)

Ha, kiki, that's what I get when you I reply from my mailadress. I've just opened the site and you have your own thread about The Rover. Congrats, lady!!

Gozde said...

Oh I almost forgot we need to lock the door... we don't want to be constantly interrupted either.

Gozde said...

Holy crud. I hardly said anything new def not anything too revealing. I was just so geeked. My bf is going 2 freak out. Fudge.

Gozde said...

Well why should you be the one who wrote about the script? Robsessed is international with people connected with the film industry at least lurking on it, if not commenting. Just trying to help you get a way out :))

Gozde said...

Its all over twitter now.

Gozde said...

True! So true. Besides, did you see that picture they just posted (in the Nike Detroyer jacket)? Who can even talk when... when... wow. Words no longer matter.

Gozde said...

but so interesting. i think kiki described very well but did not give away too much. she should just change her name and hide LOL no kidding. there was nothing revieling that we won't know by some point. love it! love the thought of Rob in the movie.

Gozde said...

Really? Oh I hope it doesn't get her in trouble, that would be sad.

Gozde said...

Wait, on this site? Ok, I'm gonna check 'cause I once again reply from mailadress.

Gozde said...

I really haven't been paying a great deal of attention to what she's been posting but I didn't see her moniker attached to any of it on twitter. Just the outline as presented on the thread here on the blog about The Rover.

Gozde said...

I've watched the pic and yes, you can't be held responsible for your words and actions after having seen pics like that, so there you have your excuse LOL
Btw, how many jackets has that man? He's a walking promo for all kind of brands!

Gozde said...

Oh thanks, bwen. Well her friend had given her the script to read but she wasn't supposed to tell about but you know, as an enthousiastic Rob fan she couldn't but share but I guess it'll be all right. :)

Gozde said...

Oh I see where this is going.... LOL

Gozde said...

No I don't think you do...
My intent is to keep the riff raft, screamers and gropers out so I can hear what they are saying and protect them.to protect them. I'm not into objectifying Rob or anyone else.

Gozde said...

Lotte and bb I like your discussion and agree very much!

Gozde said...

*wink*

Gozde said...

Hey @Kikiduh:disqus ...do you want me to take the link out of the post on The Rover? I didn't mention your name but I can also remove that link to this thread. I'll do that temporarily and see what you say.

Gozde said...

and i agree about the jacket and that pic. that took my brain away LOL

Gozde said...

That would be great. Thanks Tink!

Looks like Nike will be having a spike in xmas sales on that bugger. (No one will look as good as RP in it!) Then again I thought General Mills stock would skyrocket after RP pimped the CTCrunch on the tv. Darned stock has only gone up .7%. Crud! So much for grad school. Hardy har. Guess I shouldn't base all my investments on RP.

Gozde said...

Suppose I shouldn't use characters that screw with your html either. oopsie!

So busy in RL just got to read this thread.Read that article few days ago about " just scratching the surface with Rob." In a way I'm okay with a lot of critics under estimating Rob cause they will be in a big surprise when they fully realize the extent of Rob's talent.Might be fun to see them eat crow :)
