Well, hello Mister Yummy (straight from the Rob Dictionary, attention: Leah !) -- whether Robert, Edward, Eric, Georges, Tyler, Jacob, Salvador, well, you get the idea, all Rob, after all !! -- and ALWAYS YUMMY !!! Thanks for another Robmas treat, Kate !

Gozde said...

I can only attest to that :-)

BTW I went to see BD2 again yesterday afternoon, totally spontaneously, and I was in the BIG cinema all by myself. Now that isn't good for boxoffice, but man, I thoroughly enjoyed having Edward all for myself.... ;-)

And don't be afraid... my little town is absolutely not referable as to where German B.O. numbers are made. Germany is doing quite well on the BD2 B.O.results... but I saw we can't beat the English B.O.results, they are phenomenal, right? :-)))) So happy BD2 is doing so well...

Gozde said...

OMG those are fantastic Kate and wish I had 4 phones now LOL - thanks so much xx

Gozde said...

Now I bet that was some experience sitting there all alone !!! I'm not exactly aware of the English BO but I do know that Europe as a whole is doing well which is a good feeling :-) it is still showing in my town but not sure for how much longer, would like to go once more but running out of time now, we only have two screens so think it will be gone soon !!

love it

Well, have a look.... www . boxofficemojo . com/movies/?page=intl&id=breakingdawn2.htm
50 Mio. only for the UK, that's quite impressive, don't you think. Hope you'll make it to watch it once more, I saw four times now and don't know if I can make it again, but it sure was fantastic, having the big screen only for me :-)
And screenings here have also reduced already but I think it will show another one or two weeks, there are a lot of new big movies coming out the next days so, let's wait and see...

Gozde said...

Yes 50 million is really good for our little island lol
I managed 3 including the marathon..... it will be out on DVD by about march I'm happy to wait till then, will have something to look forward to :-)

Gozde said...

Yes, that's right. A big highlight during the drought ...

Gozde said...

Absolutely ;-)

I was a bit bummed though that Skyfall took over BDII for the first place in the States. Wished BD would've stayed nr 1 until Hobbit came out, but Skyfall is doing extremely well. Well, the Saga too regarding the fact that it's femal oriented.

Pissed too that Cosmopolis didn't get any nomination for the Critic's Awards. Matthew McConaughey got one for best supporting role in Magic Mike. Can you believe this? Paul Giamatti is ignored in favor of such nomination!! *shakes head in disbelief*

Gozde said...

I have seen it five times so far and hoping for more. It's definitely showing in the theaters around Southern California less often, but I find going in on Saturday morning or early afternoon is quite an experience! I have often sat in an almost-empty theater! It's not quite the same as a community that laughs at the right times, but I'm in my own DR so I don't care!!! I think the theater people think I'm crazy. Duh, I don't care! I'm seeing Edward along with my senior discount. What's not to love??!! :-)

What, that is a joke, isn't it? Well, I always knew that these award things have a life of their own... like "who's next to get one... " There were always so many absolutely great films which have been overlooked by award things, we know how great Rob did in Cosmopolis and nobody can't take that away from him or us... that's the most important. He got some critical acclaim for it and that's so great in hope of a fantastic acting future... :-)

Gozde said...

Oh you're right and he's getting praise from a lot of people who saw the movie. I will never understand the 'game' of the award shows. Out of nowhere pop some movies, good ones that I don't doubt, and they get almost all the nominations. Of course they're released in awards seasons but why such a small bunch of films why other good ones are totally ignored, not only Cosmopolis. I've never had much expectations because it's a Cronenberg, but Giamatti deserved a nom for this. Again, who am I? :))

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.
"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at 'Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.

Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."
Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

PLEASE... Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many
people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due
to all service men and women for our being able to celebrate these
festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we
owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who
sacrificed themselves for us.

Gozde said...

I totally agree with you... but you know, I closed with this already a few years ago when I saw again and again that fantastic movies got ignored. So I wasn't really expecting so much now... but a nomination for Paul Giamatti really would have been it... the well-earned icing on the cake of the Cosmopolis makers...

Gozde said...

Ahh, feeling nostalgic. Robward forever. Mua!

Gozde said...

Yes, you are right. Let them think what they want. Enjoying the movie andRobplaying Edward is so much more important ;-)

Gozde said...

oh that is a good one! I love it Mister Yummy will be added to the Rob Dictionary for sure! :D

Gozde said...

mmmm is right! *salivating*

Gozde said...

ya better go see it while ya can before it goes too DVD land in febuary :)

Gozde said...

Rob was ripped off! after the standing ovation at Cannes, you would have thought that he would get the nomination for the Critics Award he SO deserves it! when I saw the nominations I was SO pissed off I was yelling at the tv(as if they can hear me LOL!) grrrrrrrrrgrrrrrrr!!! why would Mathew(not that I have anything against him) get a nomination and not Rob that SUCKS! and yeah I was hoping too that BD2 would be number one til The Hobbit came along and also Le' Miz which I want too see but not on xmas day though more like trowards the weekend loved the play it was good I saw it twice and I saw Cats it was amazing

Gozde said...

no bb it is not a joke unfortunately and I agree with what ya said but( i could be wrong) I think it might be because in the critics eyes(and they are SO fking blind!!!) they think that Rob is still too "wet behind the ears" too be nominated for this award HELLOOOOOO CRITICS Jenifer Huston got her first nomination for an Oscar AND win in the movie Dream Girls Anna Kendrick(aka Jessica Stanley) got her first oscar nod ( forget the movie she was in) it also starred George Clooney someone help me what was the name of it?! ANYWAY she got a OSCAR NOD think about it critics!!!!! Rob should get an nomination for this award and also a GGA and also an Oscar nod!!!

Gozde said...

oh I agree with ya! I don't understand it either when it comes too nominations for(serious) awards he is just as awesome as any of these actors but I know who will be nominated Anne Hathaway for L'e Miserable Russell Crow and possibly Huge Jackman as well and I am willing too bet that Daniel Day Louis will be nominated for Lincoln and Sally Fields who played his wife etc etc....

Gozde said...

I agree and Paul Giamatti is a brilliant actor as well it would have put Cosmopolis right up there I would scream if Rob got nominated at 5 a.m. in the morning LMAO!

Gozde said...

I will pre-order Cosmopolis soon and then I am going to request that I pick it up because the shipping SUCKS and it has been really shitty lately and not because of the holidays but because it just does after what I went thru with Bel Ami I don't I want too go thru that shit again and what I mean by that is B&N e-mailed me too tell me(TWICE!) that it would be delayed and I had too re-ordered it again and I was NOT happy so lesson learned pick it up next time it's much easier LOL

Gozde said...

Will do bwen... and it's very nice to see you. :-)

Gozde said...

Totally agree....how can McConaughey 's performance be rated more critical than Paul's ??????? Really......sometimes you wonder where the critics heads' are !!??????!!

Gozde said...

don't you wish you knew what was on that phone screen he's looking at??? a dirty text, a joke, a sexy picture, advice from his dad??

Gozde said...

Bwen, I've been missin' you. Then you show up when least expected...a nice surprise. The poem is beautiful and oh so sad. If I didn't know better I'd swear you're American,..well you are by marriage anyway. ..We take so much for granted, including our military. This poem reminds us to be grateful for those who risk and lose their lives to keep our country safe and free. Thanks for sharing it with us. Hope you miss us too much to stay away...and that all is well with you. Love to you, Bwen. Please don't be a stranger.

Gozde said...

Love the LONGGGGGGG eyelashes, cleft chin, dimple, and even the Adam's apple in the first picture !!!!!!!!!! By the last Twilight movie, BD2, Edward looks a lot more like Rob ! Yummy !

Gozde said...

Hmmm, I wonder who's tweeting him?? could it be some sexy, funny tweets from you know who? lol

Gozde said...

Sorry, Rob, but I'm staring at the watch...damn reflection... ;-)

Gozde said...

Does anyone know if Kristen gave him that watch? Seems like I didn't see it on him this past summer during Cosmopolis interviews...I could be wrong.

Gozde said...

As becomes apparent it is not only about the quality of the films, but who can effectively manoeuvre their pic into the right position at the right time, and a certain 'understanding' amongst the studios distributing. To better understand why some films are nominated look at the pedigree, and those behind it. One reason why SLPlaybook is front and center is Weinstein. Of course, there are many good films and performances, all equally deserving, but that's not what the horse race is about...lol

Gozde said...

I don't know about the particular watch in this pic, as he wore several during filming and after. It's possible.

Gozde said...

Wow ! I'm going to print this off and put it on my school noticeboard. It really stops to make you think - thanks for sharing

Gozde said...

Yep ! Englands is doing pretty well - I think between me and Snuggler we have seen it eight times !!!

Gozde said...

My bits already done Bwen. Haven't sent a poem but always send out a parcel at Christmas time to our British troops.

Gozde said...

That's amazing JC.. I have never considered doing such a thing...that action will definitely be on my mailing list for next year... what a beautiful gesture.. x

Gozde said...

beautiful..

Gozde said...

No, I cannot believe this.. Magic Mike, to me, was a joke ... and a very bad one at that..

Gozde said...

Hey, that's impressive... as are the UK B.O.results... so keep going and you can push them some more :-)

Gozde said...

just would like to find out, where can i vote for rob, in the e-online contest, it's round 3 since yesterday,,is it lower down the thread?

Gozde said...

No - I'm going to wait for the DVD now, I think the local cinema will be on the phone to the local care home if I turn up again !!

Gozde said...

Heartwarming

Gozde said...

Yes, can find it in the right bar of the site.

Gozde said...

LOL...American indeed!

Bite your tongue, I'm Canadian through and through.
But many of our countries have troops deployed around the world.
Whether we agree with their missions or not... it is not the common soldier that is responsible for them being there. But they are the ones that deserve our support.
My dearest childhood friend lost his oldest son in Afghanistan last year...and an unjust death diminishes us all.

I wish you and yours a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

And in parting I leave you with these words from Gandhi...
“Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly.”
“First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win.”
“I believe in equality for everyone, except reporters and photographers.”

and finally
“The WEAK can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the STRONG.”

Gozde said...

Both of these are my favs! Looove Daddyward moments and I just love everything about the second one. It seems so candid, the angle, the lighting, the values (black and white), his expression!!! It would be killer to draw because of such strong contrasts in value, but I think this calls for a Sketch Pad time in the near future!

Gozde said...

Awesome words, Bwen and great advice.
Hope you'll have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
See ya 'round..

Gozde said...

APrat, I haven't seen Majic Mike and don't plan on it. But I've wondered if McConaughey's recent extreme weight loss for his role as an AID's patient would have any bearing on the Academy;s nod toward him, even though that movie isn't out yet. Was also wondering if you have seen it (Majic Mike) and if so is his performance Oscar worthy in your opinion? Thanks.
