A24 Buy The North American Rights To Claire Denis' ‘The Stars At Noon’ With Robert Pattinson & Margaret Qualley

A24 Buy The North American Rights To Claire Denis' ‘The Stars At Noon’ With Robert Pattinson & Margaret Qualley

Deadline exclusive revealed today on twitter that A24 had bought the rights to Claire's 'The Stars At Noon' and that Rob's co-star would be Margaret Qualley

From Deadline
In a competitive situation on the eve of the European Film Market, A24 has swooped on North American rights to one of the hot indie pics that has just dropped at the market.

In a low-seven-figure deal, the blue-chip buyer has swooped on Claire Denis’ next movie, love story/thriller The Stars at Noon, which has her High-Life collaborator Robert Pattinson and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood breakout Margaret Qualley attached.

Set in 1984 during the Nicaraguan Revolution, the film follows a mysterious English businessman and headstrong American journalist who strike up a passionate romance. They soon become embroiled in a dangerous labyrinth of lies and conspiracies and are forced to try and escape the country, with only each other to trust and rely on.

The project is based on the 1986 novel by acclaimed U.S. writer Denis Johnson. Filmmaker Denis is adapting the novel with Lea Mysius and Andrew Litvack. It sounds like prime territory for the director after movies such as White Material and Beau Travail.

Yesssssss! Very cool!

From Deadline:

A24 has acquired North American distribution rights to the provocative sci-fi drama High Life, which made its Toronto Film Festival debut Sunday night at Roy Thomson Hall. The film marks French filmmaker Claire Denis’ long-anticipated English-language debut, and stars Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche, Mia Goth and André Benjamin. Script was written by Denis, Jean-Pol Fargeau and Geoff Cox.

Deal was low seven figures, and A24 will go with a traditional theatrical release.

The Beau Travail director this time has tackled a Kubrick-ian science fiction tale set in deep space, where a group of criminals head toward a black hole. The spaceship’s crew is a collection of dangerous prisoners. Monte (Pattinson) is the only crew member awake as the voyage unfolds in solitude, tending to the ship to keep them all alive as they hurtle through space. And also caring for a baby daughter, Willow, who was born on board. As the crew awakens, conflicts and chaos ensue.

Oliver Dungey, Laurence Clerc, Olivier Thery-Lapiney, Andrew Lauren and DJ Gugenheim produced. The deal was brokered by CAA Media Finance, with Wild Bunch handling offshore.

Carvel, who supplied the press cakes, had jokes....

They were mighty tasty looking. We would have put one to good use if only we were headquartered in NYC and could harass A24 until they caved...

Robert Pattinson gives his two cents on rising distribution star, A24 (The Rover, Good Time)

Robert Pattinson gives his two cents on rising distribution star, A24 (The Rover, Good Time)

UPDATE: I missed these other remarks from Rob in the article! That's criminal :( He gave way more than 2 cents. I should have known. He's such a giver :))
Better late than never:
Pattinson: I mean, with Twilight, the first tour we did was literally going to suburban shopping malls and doing local-news stuff. And I think that really helped the movie. But I think in experiences since then, doing mid-budget or relatively low-budget movies, if you try to do a toned-down version of that—I’ve just seen it not work, again and again and again. And so with [The Rover], they took that into account, and instead of blowing loads of money, [they did] more targeted marketing and also really sophisticated online campaigns and stuff. They just seem like they’re the first company that’s really abandoned a lot of the old models.

Pattinson: They’re definitely the place to be now. I mean, I have no idea what they’re doing, really. They’re just on it. They have a very good understanding of the Zeitgeist. You get a movie with them and it represents something. Everybody was talking a few years ago how cinema had died. And I think A24 and companies like that are—you know, people want to go to the cinema. People want to see movies. And I think they’re creating a kind of renaissance in filmmaking. They’re making people want to go to the cinema again to see this kind of stuff, rather than staying at home. People had thought that entire part of the industry had just died. And you can really see over the past few years, it really, really hasn’t at all. And I think it is down to companies like A24.

Rob has a film back in the hands of A24 with Good Time, coming to the US this summer and premiering this month at the Cannes Film Festival, in competition! The distribution company brought The Rover to the screen back in 2014 and they snatched up Good Time last fall. The company has also had recent success winning Best Picture for their film Moonlight at a little known award show called The Oscars. ;)

GQ profiled A24 in an article titled How A24 is Disrupting Hollywood and spoke to some folks that have worked with them about their thoughts on the company's rise. Rob, of course, was totally Rob:
Robert Pattinson (actor, ‘The Rover,’ ‘Good Time’): It’s crazy that there is an article about a distribution company. That’s completely nuts.
You can just see his bewilderment and amusement can't you? Click HERE to read the whole article!

A24 says Robert Pattinson's Good Time trailer is coming next Tuesday + a peek at the title treatment!!

A24 says Robert Pattinson's Good Time trailer is coming next Tuesday + a peek at the title treatment!

A24 has given fans a heads up!
Now......notice I'm not putting an actual date. I'm one of those people that thinks "next Tuesday" should actually be May 23rd. THIS Tuesday should be May 16th. So if I constructed the tweet, I would say, "This Tuesday sounds like a pretty good time for a trailer." But I'm guessing the "next Tuesday" in the tweet means May 16th because it wouldn't make sense to prep us now for a trailer dropping on the 23rd. The world moves too fast. That news would be buried.

So it must be the 16th. We'll have to wait and see....this Tuesday.

A24 will release Good Time this summer, August 11th, in the US! This is nice, quick turnaround from the debut of the film at Cannes this month. Love it when a Rob film debuts at a fest and then we don't have to wait long (looking at you, QOTD).
Time to happy dance, Americans!

A24 is back in business with Robert Pattinson and acquires North American distribution for GOOD TIME

The Rover distributor, A24, has picked up another highly anticipated Rob film! The company has swooped up Rob's next big role, Good Time!

From Variety:
A24 has acquired North American rights to “Good Time,” a caper film with Robert Pattinson, Variety has learned.
The film follows a bank robber’s race to evade the police dragnet that threatens to send him behind bars. Josh and Benny Safdie directed the movie from a screenplay by Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein. “Good Time” also stars Jennifer Jason-Leigh and Barkhad Abdi.
The Safdie brothers are well known in the indie film community for their work on “Go Get Some Rosemary” and “Heaven Knows What.” Pattinson shot to fame as the brooding vampire in the “Twilight” films. Since accelerating the heart rates of teen girls the world over, he’s used his heartthrob status to get backing for edgier fare, working with David Cronenberg on “Map to the Stars” and “Cosmopolis,” and appearing in the upcoming James Gray drama “Lost City of Z.”
Since The Rover, A24 has continued to gather notable works and made a mark last year during awards season with the film, Room (starring Oscar winner, Brie Larson). They also have some buzzy projects for this award season as well. Click HERE to keep reading the Variety exclusive.

Little is known or seen about the film (the pic in this post is ALL we got during filming and it's not even filming. Click HERE to revisit) so it will be exciting to see how everything unfolds. It's great to see Jennifer Jason-Leigh as a cast member. She's a classic actor and recently gained attention again with her role in Tarantino's The Hateful Eight scoring a supporting actor Oscar nomination. Rob's other co-star, Barked Abdi, has also scored an Oscar nom with his role in Captain Phillips. So this is an exciting bunch! Can't wait to see the film :)))))

A24 includes Robert Pattinson and The Rover on their "For Your Consideration" awards website

A24 includes Robert Pattinson and The Rover on their "For Your Consideration" awards website

A24, the US distributor behind The Rover, has a website dedicated to their award-worthy films.
The Rover is there along with Under The Skin, Locke, Obvious Child, Enemy and A Most Violent Year.

 photo Groot1.gif

When you click the poster for The Rover, you get to see their "Consider" page and you know who's on it. ;)

 photo ScreenShot2014-11-16at111644AM.png

 photo EXCITE_1.gif

Yes! It's great. But.....well it's not exactly a campaign for the film to have it on the website. Only A Most Violent Year has the "Screenings" page, listing multiple screenings happening in NYC and LA. That's typical of an active campaign for awards. Screenings, ads, schmoozing with voters, etc. None of that is happening for The Rover. So this is nice to see but that's all it is at this point.

 photo Eh.gif

I pissed in the party punch, didn't I. We can go back to dancing groot because Rob really was one of the best supporting actors this year and it's cool to see him listed on the distributor's site.

NEW: 2 gorgeous pics of Robert Pattinson as Rey in The Rover + A24 giveaways for fans who BAT4Rob 10 times!

Why so gorgeous ReyRob?? As IF you could uglify Robert Pattinson...

Remember when we did BAT4Rob (Buy a ticket 4 Rob) for Bel Ami? And then Rob asked us all to buy 8 tickets for Cosmopolis? He's said again for The Rover he wants us to see the film as much as possible and A24 Films wants to reward us for that devotion!

If you're in the US and you know you're likely to see or buy 10 tickets to The Rover before July 1st, you could win signed posters from Rob, David Michôd and Guy Pearce! I've got 5 tickets down already so come on and catch up! ;)

From A24 Films via The Rover Film:
The #RoverTenTimes Fan Challenge
A24 is unbelievably grateful for the support The Rover Film community has shown the movie over the past year. You've been with 'The Rover' from the very beginning. The wait is finally over, and now we want to challenge the most serious fans to go see it #RoverTenTimes. It won't be easy, nor will it be possible for everyone, but there is a pretty great gift at the end if you are able to pull it off.
So, see the movie at least TEN times, then email us photos of your ticket stubs to RoverTenTimes@gmail.com. We'll send two original Rover posters of your choosing to anyone who completes the challenge. Each ticket must be from a different showtime, and we can only ship within the United States. Deadline to complete the challenge is 7/1.
(We have a limited quantity of posters signed by David, Guy, and Rob. These will be given to fans who complete the challenge in the shortest span of time. No posters will be sent until after Week 2 is complete, so there’s no advantage if you’re able to see the film in limited release.)
We also encourage everyone to share your ticket stubs on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using the #RoverTenTimes hashtag. After the challenge is complete, we will have a photo album on The Rover Facebook page as an additional thank you to all the fans who participated.
Your support means everything to us, and is hugely important to the film's success. Thank you, and we hope you enjoy 'The Rover' – once, ten times, or more.
So it's time to buy 10 tickets for Rob! GOOD LUCK!!!!

Here's another new ReyRob shot on the cover of Courier Mail. GAWD. Dirt and rotten teeth? They need to do more if they wanted to hide that god-given beauty. *swoon*

We spoke to a representative from A24 and they confirmed the following information. @TheRoverMovie is the official twitter account for The Rover! The account also reveals a couple of things, most notably the release timeframe for the film - Summer 2014 - and the title treatment we posted above. A24 is the distributor for the US but we'll let you know when other countries have release dates as well (Australia is already known). The twitter account will post official news about the movie but closer to the release, they will launch a full social media campaign.

If you have a twitter account, give the film a follow - @TheRoverMovie.

We'll also be retweeting anything they post so if you don't have an account, you can look on our sidebar for the tweets and we'll be posting anything they share about the film. So far the account has 2 tweets - retweets of the The Playlist and Blackbook lists for Most Anticipated Film of 2014.*

ROBsessed Awards - Robert Pattinson's Best Non- Fandom Supporter

ROBsessed Awards - Robert Pattinson's Best Non- Fandom Supporter

Robert Pattinson has been very fortunate to have had some wonderful support again this year from outside the fandom. We have some of our old regular faces....... and a couple of new ones too.

Josh Horowitz ~ The reigning champ is back to defend his title. He may not have had any interviews with Rob this year but he made sure Rob was mentioned in interviews with Benedict Cumberbatch, Ashley Tisdale and James Franco

 photo RobampJosh.jpg

David Cronenberg ~ (Maps To The Stars Director) David is one of Rob's biggest cheerleaders. As his director in "Cosmopolis" and this year in "Maps to the Stars" he has had many good things to say about Rob like, "I really think he's a terrific actor. He's extremely inventive. He surprised me every day on 'Cosmopolis' with the nuances and things that he did which were unexpected".

Click on each pic below to read more

 photo DavidCronenberg1-1.jpg photo DavidampRob.jpg

Werner Herzog ~ (Queen Of The Desert Director) Werner was full of praise for Rob this year saying "He has charisma, he is smart, he writes. I hope we will see him one day as a director" & "This is a very intelligent man. Writes well. Knows exactly what he's doing. He also knows that he must be out of this short-lived type of role of Teen Stars."

 photo Werner2.jpeg photo Werner1.jpg

David Michod ~ (The Rover Director) David worked with Rob on The Rover at the beginning of the year and was quick to tell people that Rob was 'really smart, and not the sort of pretty boy I was expecting. As soon as it was time to start testing… he was my first choice, by a long way.''

Dior ~ Dior and Robert Pattinson seem to have been made for each other. With their Dior Homme campaign it's clear that they have been listening to what Rob fans want. From the Dior Homme video down to the #DiorRob tag on twitter. It's pretty obvious how happy and proud they are to have Robert Pattinson as their front man.

Click on the pic below for a refresher of the editorial from their Dior Mag

A24 ~ I think we have all seen how much A24 share our excitement at seeing Robert Pattinson star in The Rover next year. As the US production company for The Rover they have been very vocal in their support of Rob on their social media.
