Cosmopolis sees teen heart-throb Robert Pattinson as billionaire Wall Street banker Eric Packer, who glides across Manhattan in his limousine in search of a haircut. On the way he encounters sex, violence and anti-capitalist protests.

As well as keeping much of the novel's original dialogue, Cronenberg also kept many scenes inside Packer's noise-proofed, gadget-packed limo.

"I like to shoot in confined spaces," he says. "There's an intensity that immediately affects an actor's performance. Visually it forces you to be quite inventive."

By way of preparation, Cronenberg showed his crew the 2009 film Lebanon, which takes place inside an Israeli tank, and 1981 war epic Das Boot, which takes place inside a German submarine.

"I said: 'Let's not be intimidated by this, this could be quite exhilarating if we do it right.' We built a limo that comes apart like a Lego car in about 24 pieces. I don't think of it as a challenge, but as a lot of fun."

Robert Pattinson's performance as the billionaire banker has been largely well received since the film's Cannes debut.

Actor Robert Pattinson has predicted that his new art-house film Cosmopolis will be embraced by Twilight fans.

"Some of them will just want you to play vampires, but most people don't want you to repeat yourself," the Briton told the BBC.

The heart-throb, who played Edward Cullen in the Twilight films, also defended his fans from accusations that their dedicated behaviour was "crazy".

Cosmopolis, directed by David Cronenberg, opens in the UK this week.

The film, based on the novel by Don DeLillo, was a contender for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Daniel Radcliffe: Robert Pattinson is Handling Fame Well

Well, Daniel is asked about Robert Pattinson again and he gives the same answer he'd been giving :) Poor Daniel ;))

From BBC News:

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe says Twilight actor Robert Pattinson appears to be dealing well with the pressures of fame.

"I wouldn't have any advice," Radcliffe told the BBC. "He seems to be coping well," added the actor.

Since appearing as vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight film series, Pattinson has become a huge star.

The 23-year-old appeared alongside Radcliffe in the fourth Harry Potter film, 2005's Goblet of Fire.

Mobbed

He played Quidditch captain Cedric Diggory, who competes alongside Harry in the Triwizard tournament at Hogwarts school.

"I haven't spoken to Robert since we saw each other at the opening of a gallery three years ago," said Radcliffe. "We've been sort of exchanging advice through journalists, bizarrely."

Over the past two weeks, Pattinson has been mobbed by thousands of screaming fans at launch events around the world for the new Twilight film, New Moon.

Speaking about fame, Radcliffe said: "It is totally mad, when people are screaming and going absolutely insane for you.

"Particularly with Robert - the amount of women that would jump on him - you have to keep it in some kind of perspective, by thinking 'well, partly they like me and partly they are just attracted to the character'.

"As long as you don't think 'oh yeah, God they're all doing this - I must be absolutely fantastic'. As long as you do that, you should be all right."

'Quite strange'

Radcliffe's Harry Potter co-star Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, said Pattinson had "done amazingly" after appearing in Goblet of Fire.

But Grint admitted he had never been comfortable with getting recognised in the street.

"It's never been normal. I'm slowly getting used to it, but it's quite strange," he told the BBC at a launch event for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince DVD, out in December.

The world of Twilight is populated by fans called "Twi-Hards", or by Pattinson fans who refer to themselves as "Robsessed".(Gozde: woot woot :))

Pattinson described earlier this month how he prepares himself to face thousands of screaming fans: "I always find myself wearing a lot of layers as well so they can't see you hyperventilating."

The actor has recently finished shooting the third film in the vampire series, Eclipse. A fourth film based on Stephenie Meyer's best-selling novel, Breaking Dawn, is also planned.

Meanwhile, Radcliffe and Grint are currently filming the two-part finale Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, out in 2010-11.
