We might see Robert Pattinson's Damsel premiering early 2017! Plus filming has wrapped!

The Utah Film Commission reported on Damsel wrapping production in the state and also mentioned it's scheduled to premiere early 2017. It's not a stretch to think we might see SundanceRob. Fingers crossed!

image host

Excerpt:
The Western era comedy, Damsel, wrapped up filming last week and is scheduled to premiere early next year. Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska co-star in this comedy about a man trying to marry the woman of his dreams.

Since Twilight, Pattinson has found a new niche in the art-house world with films like Cosmopoli and The Rover. The Zellner Brothers’ new project, Damsel, fits the bill of art-house, but should be more lighthearted than the former. It was fun having him in our State and by the looks of it, he wears Utah proudly.
It also appears the film has wrapped in Oregon and overall! Congrats, Rob, and we can't wait to see the film!

MOVIE NEWS: Robert Pattinson's 'Brimstone' To Shoot In Germany & Spain In June

Some more Rob movie news today, this time Brimstone. New Sparta Films have announced that they are financing Brimstone and that it will shoot in Germany and Spain in June with a second period of shooting in Romania later in the year.

image host

From New Sparta Films Website :
New Sparta Films (NSF) is delighted to announce its involvement in the financing of Martin Koolhoven’s Brimstone.

“Retribution is coming”

The film, written and directed by Koolhoven and produced by Els Vandervorst of N279 Productions, stars Guy Pearce, Mia Wasikowska, Robert Pattinson and Carice van Houten and is set to commence shooting in Germany and Spain in June 2015 with a second period of shooting in Romania later in the year.

Brimstone is a triumphant epic of survival, set in the searing wilds of the badlands, the menacing inferno of the Old American West. It is a tale of powerful womanhood and resistance against the unforgiving cruelty of a Hell on earth.

Set against the backdrop of the late 19th Century frontier territory lawlessness, this is a powerful epic thriller with a compelling story and an engaging central female character on a life-threatening mission to escape from, and exact revenge upon, an enigmatic, evil preacher. It is a dark tale, but gripping and emotionally fulfilling.

It's an easy one to get you back into the swing of things! Which of Rob's upcoming roles are you most looking forward to?  And to make it easy it's just a choice of two and there is a short summary of each film included below to help you decide.

Brimstone
Are you looking forward to seeing Rob re-team with Guy Pearce and Mia Wasikowska?

image host

Mia Wasikowska in the lead as Liz, is a young woman on the run from a difficult past who must flee a diabolical preacher (Pearce). Martin Koolhoven wrote the script and is directing the film in May this year, with Pattinson set as an outlaw, while van Houten’s role has yet to be announced. "Wasikowska is a powerhouse performer,” says producer Tim Haslam. “Guy Peace plays a hunter who unleashes hell. Martin directs a highly emotional, gripping and unique story of a mesmerising woman who battles the vengeance of a zealot.”

The Trap
Rob has just been listed among the cast of The Trap with Harmony Korine.

The follow-up to Korine’s riotous cult indie crime romp Spring Breakers also has Al Pacino, Robert Pattinson and James Franco in final negotiations to join a cast that has already secured Benicio del Toro as one of the two leads. More details have also been revealed about the storyline for the film which, like Spring Breakers, is set in Miami – with the city’s music scene as a backdrop.
Elba will play Rico, a successful gangster rapper, with Del Toro as Slim, the childhood friend who took the fall for him 14 years earlier after a robbery the pair committed turned sour. When Slim is released from prison just as Rico is about to be honoured at the Grammy awards, he vows revenge on the man who married his girlfriend and raised his jailed friend’s son as his own.
Pattinson is set to play an Uzi-wielding surfer who joins the plot to take out Rico, with Franco as the rapper’s treacherous, cocaine-snorting manager. Pacino, who recently starred with Korine in a rare acting role for the latter in the David Gordon Green drama Manglehorn, is set to play Slim’s parole officer.

Robert Pattinson will film Idol's Eye October 22 to mid-December in Toronto and Chicago!

Rob mentioned it a few times at TIFF and we already had an idea but Idol's Eye is firming up! Not to mention the sexhair freedom is likely due to IE's 70s production.

 photo RobertPattinsonHQsMTTSTIFFpics09.jpg

Global News reports about Rob's return to Toronto to film the Olivier Assayas' film:
TORONTO — Two of the world’s most famous Roberts — Pattinson and DeNiro — will be in Toronto next month. The actors are scheduled to co-star in Idol’s Eye, which is shooting in the city from Oct. 22 to mid-December. Additional scenes will be filmed in Chicago.
The action-thriller, directed by French filmmaker Olivier Assayas, is about thieves who encounter problems when they try to rob a pawn shop. DeNiro, 71, and Pattinson, 28, are joined in the cast by Rachel Weisz.
Idol’s Eye will be the fourth film Pattinson has made in Toronto. The Twilight star wrapped the biopic Life earlier this year and also made 2014’s Maps to the Stars and 2012’s Cosmopolis in the city.

Robert Pattinson to work with Olivier Assayas? "Let's hope so..."

UPDATE: Another mention from a different interview added below
Robert Pattinson to work with Olivier Assayas? "Let's hope so..."

It looks like Rob has got another esteemed director lined up...Olivier Assayas!

 photo RobOlivier.jpg

The rumor comes from an interview Assayas conducted with French newspaper, "The Inrocks". Pattinson Art Work has provided a translation of the interview but the French version follows directly after:
 photo 0033.jpg
Translation: "I see that in the United States, especially since the success of 'l'Heure d'été' and 'Carlos', I gained a relative notoriety, which sharpens the curiosity of some actors. In my next film, for example, will included Robert Pattinson."
That's awesome. Rob is pretty entrenched in the auteur, independent film circuit now. And a bit of trivia, do you remember the last time we mentioned Assayas on the blog? These guys were having a bit of fun with Rob's fandom but Rob was there with buddies Tom Sturridge and Johnny Flynn (Flynn was in Assayas' Something In The Air). Now I wish those guys had eavesdropped on some conversations with Rob and Olivier. We know the collaboration was welcomed in 2012....

 photo ScreenShot2012-10-05at91311PM.png

The film Rob might be in isn't specified but Variety has some information on Assayas' next film, HUBRIS - his first shot in the US. It'll be "an action-packed crime thriller set against the backdrop of organized crime in Chicago in the 1970s." Oh YES PLEASE!

Assayas will write the script. "Inspired by an article by journo Hillel Levin, “Hubris” turns on a gang of thieves led by notorious mastermind John Mendell who rob a pawn shop only to discover it is a front for Chicago’s most brutal crime boss, Tony Accardo."

GAH. We'll keep a look out to see if this is the one Rob might be involved in.

Another mention from Olivier of possibly working with Rob. This time in an interview with Studio Cine Live.

Robert Pattinson's Queen of the Desert starts filming in December according to Deadline

You guys want some movie news??

 photo headnodyes.gif

Deadline announced a new cast member for Queen of the Desert - Damian Lewis of Homeland fame. In the announcement, Deadline also said production is set for December. From Deadline:
Damian Lewis, who has won Golden Globes and Emmys for his work as POW-turned-terrorist Nicolas Brody in Showtime’s Homeland, is near a deal to star opposite Nicole Kidman in director Werner Herzog’s Queen Of The Desert. The UK-born Lewis won’t have to hide his homegrown accent for the feature: He will play Lt. Col. Charles Doughty-Wylie, an unhappily married English war hero who engages in a turbulent affair with Gertrude Bell (Kidman), with whom he exchanged love letters with from 1913-1915 until he was killed in active duty at Gallipoli.
Production is scheduled to begin in December.
Queen Of The Desert refers to Bell, the iconic explorer, writer, archeologist and attaché for the British Empire who is credited with helping to catalyze the formation of the Middle East at the dawn of the 20th century. Nick Raslan is producing through his Palmyra Films banner along with Cassian Elwes and Michael Benaroya. Benaroya Pictures banner is financing the film. Sierra/Affinity will handle international sales.
Lewis is represented by WME, Markham, Froggatt and Irwin, and Karl Austen.
No mention of Rob. Is he still playing T.E. Lawrence? Will he be filming Mission: Blacklist in January? Is Life still on schedule? If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Robert Pattinson's Thriller 'Maps to the Stars' Starts Shooting & We Get A NEW Synopsis

UPDATED: To Add "The Film Stage's" report
Robert Pattinson's Thriller 'Maps to the Stars' Starts Shooting & We Get A NEW Synopsis

If you're following things over on the "Maps To The Stars" Movie Blog (that Tink and myself are part of) you'll know that "Map To The Stars" started filming started last week and now we have a new synopsis

 photo Mapstothestars.jpg

From The Wrap:
A contemporary tale exploring the demons of our celebrity-obsessed society, story follows the Weiss family, which is led by Stafford (Cusack), a psychotherapist and life coach who made his fortune with self-help books. His wife (Williams) is the overbearing mother-manager of their 13-year-old son (Bird), a TV star recently out of drug rehab. Their estranged daughter (Wasikowska) has just been released from a psychiatric hospital and befriended a limo driver (Pattinson) who is also an aspiring actor.
One of Stafford’s celebrity clients is Havana (Moore), an actress with an unusual new assistant. Havana’s dream of reprising her dead mother’s (Gadon) starring role from the 1960s slowly crumbles while ghosts, death and all manner of vices collide.

Screen Daily  reported on official word of principal photography beginning:
eOne and Prospero Pictures executives reported on Monday [15] that principal photography has begun on David Cronenberg’s Maps To The Stars.
The shoot in Toronto and Los Angeles is expected to last 30 days. eOne will distribute directly in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia and New Zealand, while eOne Films International handles all remaining international rights.
Check out this great write up from The Film Stage :
David Cronenberg has begun shooting a new film, and today is officially a good day for cinema. You’ll recall that his social satire / ghost picture, Maps to the Stars, was in casting stages for a few months prior, our most recent report adding the talents of Mia Wasikowska and Olivia Williams to an already stacked lineup — Robert Pattinson (the director’s Cosmopolis star), Sarah Gadon (also of the 2012 picture), John Cusack, and Julianne Moore all being tapped to lead. Everything’s been coming up Milhouse.

With cameras officially rolling — and this endeavor, at some point, seeing Cronenberg make a directing debut in the United States — some fresh, worthwhile information has begun to file in. Of an appreciably spoiler-free manner is the following plot synopsis, which, in widely expanding the scope on Bruce Wagner‘s screenplay, alters a few personal expectations

Here’s hoping Maps to the Stars is only part two of a Cronenberg-Pattinson “limo trilogy.” Prospero Pictures and SBS Productions have backed the title, for which eOne — yet another Cosmopolis holdover — are to provide domestic distribution. Expect the cast and crew to show off their work in 2014, most likely premiering the title at Cannes.

If you want to find out MORE about the characters in "Maps To The Stars" check out the character descriptions HERE

I can't wait for Robenberg to be reunited again...........

Movie updates for Robert Pattinson's Mission: Blacklist (Fall start date!) and Maps To The Stars

Movie updates for Robert Pattinson's Mission: Blacklist (Fall start date!) and Maps To The Stars

 photo ScreenShot2013-07-10at84704PM.png

We posted about this a couple of weeks ago HERE but it was officially announced today with Deadline reporting:
The Swedish invasion into Hollywood continues. Jesper Ganslandt has been tapped to direct Robert Pattinson in the psychological thriller Mission: Blacklist, about a brilliant young military interrogator who spearheads the capture of Saddam Hussein. Pic is based on the life of soldier-turned-intelligence agent Eric Maddox, who funneled his experiences into the 2008 nonfic book Mission: Black List #1 – The Inside Story Of The Search For Saddam Hussein – As Told By The Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture. The Code Entertainment project was announced at Cannes last year, back when Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire was set to direct. Following Sauvaire’s departure, Ganslandt stepped in and will make his English-language debut after directing three features — Blondie, The Ape, and Falkenberg Farewell — in his native Sweden.
Filming is scheduled for the fall. The script is by Band Of Brothers scribe Erik Jendresen, Dylan Kussman, and Trace Sheehan. Ross M. Dinerstein of Preferred Content is producing alongside Jendresen and Kevin Waller, with Code Entertainment producing and financing the project. Jesper is repped by Paradigm and Magnolia.
Did you catch the new info? Filming is scheduled for the fall! Another film blog for MB did a little more investigating and found a date as well - September 30th. Click HERE to read her report. If this holds true, Rob might start Mission: Blacklist after Maps To The Stars. I'm excited about this since MB is the only film of the five indies (The Rover, MTTS, Queen Of The Desert, Hold On To Me, Mission: Blacklist) where Rob is the clear lead. The Rover is close - he shares the screen pretty evenly with Guy Pearce but Mission: Blacklist would be Rob's. So YAY for this moving forward.

One of the screenwriters also tweeted earlier about the updates to the script they're making since Jesper came on board:
As for Maps To The Stars, Carrie Fisher has been added to the cast (as herself) and Julianne Moore, John Cusack and Mia Wasikowska have been spotted in Toronto. Rob obviously isn't there yet but twitter rumors are heating up with one person claiming to see his trailer already setting up and another claiming Rob will be in her city next week to film a movie. Rob is a supporting role in the film so it's no surprise he's not scheduled yet. We'll see what happens and keep you posted!

Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce's The Rover grabs US distribution!

UPDATE2: IF.com announced that Australia will have an early 2014 release. We'll let you know when  a more concrete date is revealed. Here is our previous post about territories already sold (UK and Canada included)
UPDATE: Click HERE if you'd like to read the full press release on US distribution!
photo RobGuyTropfestIntro2.gif EXCITING NEWS!!! The Rover has a US distributor! Here's the announcement via The Hollywood Reporter and Jeff Snieder from The Wrap shared his 2 cents about the company. Sounding GREAT. :)
A24 has acquired U.S. rights to David Michod’s thriller The Rover, starring Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson
Set in a futuristic version of Australia following an economic collapse, the film follows Pearce, who plays a loner traveling the outback, who teams up with Pattinson to track a gang of thieves. Michod, who wrote and directed 2010’s Animal Kingdom, also wrote The Rover based on a story he and Joel Edgerton conceived.
It was produced by Michod, Liz Watts for Porchlight Film and David Linde under his Lava Bear Films banner. The film co-stars Scoot McNairy, David Field, Anthony Hayes, Gillian Jones and Susan Prior. Natsha Braier served as director of photography and Jo Ford, who also collaborated with Michod on Animal Kingdom, was production designer. A24 will release The Rover theatrically in the U.S., while Village Roadshow will release it in Australia and New Zealand. The film’s investment partners include Screen Australia, the South Australian Film Corporation and Screen NSW, and financial partners Fulcrum Media and the Union Bank.
"A24 is a perfect fit for The Rover -- a young, innovative and exciting company at the cutting edge of the independent sector in the US, they have contributed to an already exciting array of global distribution partners, and we are pleased to be partnering with them on the future release of the film," producers Watts and Linde said.
A24 is currently distributing Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring and will open James Ponsoldt's The Spectacular Now on Aug. 2. A24 negotiated the deal with UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers and FilmNation Entertainment. UTA also reps Michod. Prior to selling the U.S. rights to A24, FilmNation Entertainment licensed the film to a majority of territories worldwide based on showing a two-minute reel of footage from the film.
UPDATE: Comment from A24 via IndieWire:
“David Michôd is a visionary filmmaker and we are thrilled to work with him to bring The Rover to US audiences. The movie will undoubtedly confirm his singular voice and distinctive gift for creating arresting visuals and indelible characters.”
If you guys want to know more about A24, click HERE to read an article from the LA Times: "Plucky start-up A24 chips at the wall between indie and multiplex." and "A24 wants to inject modestly budgeted films into the national conversation, providing the films, and their directors, a hard-won cultural exposure that defies the art-house ghetto."
