ROBsessed Giveaway: Get your summer read collection started with Christina Lauren's LOVE AND OTHER WORDS

Summer time is almost here and you need to start gathering your summer reads. Christina Lauren's latest book is a great place to start and we have a copy to giveaway! We also want to say congrats to Christina and Lauren for ROOMIES heading to the big screen.

photo 81Csb1x-vSL.jpgFrom the publisher: Released April 10th, Love and Other Words is a beautiful story about love, forgiveness and the powerful connections books can form. This story is told in alternating timelines between the Then and Now following Macy Sorensen and Elliot Petropoulos from childhood friends, spending weekends and lazy summers together devouring books, to much more. Now adults living in San Francisco, a chance encounter brings them back into each other's lives after a decade apart. A love story for romantics and book lovers alike, Love and Other Words, will stay with readers long after the last page is turned.
Synopsis: Macy has settled into an ambitious if emotionally tepid routine: working hard as a new pediatrics resident, planning her wedding to an older, financially secure man, keeping her head down and her heart tucked away.
But when she runs into Elliot - the first and only love of her life - the careful bubble she's constructed begins to dissolve. Once upon a time, Elliot was Macy's entire world - growing from her gangly boyish friend into the man who coaxed her heart open again after the loss of her mother...only to break it on the very night he declared his love for her. As adults, they have become strangers but can they overcome the past and restore faith in the possibility of an all-consuming love and each other?

ROBsessed Giveaway: Close out 2017 with Christina Lauren's sensual new book, ROOMIES!

We have another Christina Lauren treat for you guys! ROOMIES is the latest novel from the peer writing duo and this one is a page turner.

ROOMIES, is on sale Dec. 5th, and the praise is effusive:
Publishers weekly describes the novel as "fresh and sensual…the lyrical language creates atmosphere that sets this novel apart from others of the genre. Lauren’s standalone brims with authentic characters and a captivating plot.” And RT Book Reviews says, “the story is so intriguing that readers will find it hard to step away.” Before you enter to win, check out the synopsis:
photo 81Knrobp2wL.jpgGreen Card meets Once in ROOMIES by New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren; a tale of marriage convenience that is just so…inconvenient.
Rescued by Calvin McLoughlin from a would-be subway attacker, Holland Bakker pays the brilliant subway musician back by pulling some of her errand-girl strings and getting him an audition with a bigtime musical director.
When the tryout goes better than even Holland could have imagined, Calvin is set for a great entry into Broadway—until he admits his student visa has expired and he’s in the country illegally.
Holland impulsively offers to wed the Irishman to keep him in New York, her growing infatuation a secret only to him. As their relationship evolves from awkward roommates to besotted lovers, Calvin becomes the darling of Broadway. In the middle of the theatrics and the acting-not-acting, what will it take for Holland and Calvin to realize that they both stopped pretending a long time ago?
From subway to Broadway to happily ever after, modern love in all its thrill, hilarity, and uncertainty has never been so compulsively readable.

ROBsessed Giveaway: Christina Lauren scores again with young adult novel, Autoboyography!

ROBsessed Giveaway: Christina Lauren scores again with young adult novel, Autoboyography!

We're big fans of Christina Lauren and they're releasing their most personal novel to date. Of course we want to support and offer you guys a chance to win a copy.

AUTOBOYOGRAPHY, released Sept. 12, is "Fangirl meets Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and is a funny and poignant coming-of-age novel about two boys who fall in love in a high school writing class in Utah—one from a progressive family and the other from a conservative religious community." The novel is part of Christina Lauren's young adult collection (Sublime, The House) which we do giveaways for since Twilight was young adult genre after all. :)

The new novel is a love letter from Christina Lauren to LGBTQ teens with the hope of bringing attention to Encircle, "a non-profit in Provo, Utah that offers a safety net of support to LGBQT teens in the area." It's heartwarming, sincere, and worth your time.

Check out the synopsis!
photo 51mlPLc4u4L.jpgThree years ago, Tanner Scott’s family relocated from California to Utah, a move that nudged the bisexual teen temporarily back into the closet. Now, with one semester of high school to go, and no obstacles between him and out-of-state college freedom, Tanner plans to coast through his remaining classes and clear out of Utah.

But when his best friend Autumn dares him to take Provo High’s prestigious Seminar—where honor roll students diligently toil to draft a book in a semester—Tanner can’t resist going against his better judgment and having a go, if only to prove to Autumn how silly the whole thing is. Writing a book in four months sounds simple. Four months is an eternity.

It turns out, Tanner is only partly right: four months is a long time. After all, it takes only one second for him to notice Sebastian Brother, the Mormon prodigy who sold his own Seminar novel the year before and who now mentors the class. And it takes less than a month for Tanner to fall completely in love with him.

As the two begin an intense, secret relationship, words flow out of Tanner and into an autobiography he soon realizes he can never turn in. Tanner struggles to help Sebastian carve out a new path forward in his faith, and find his place in a world that once told him the only road to happiness is a straight and narrow one.

ROBsessed Giveaway: Another great summer read from one of our fave authors - Dating You/Hating You by Christina Lauren!

We have a new summer read for you guys from Christina Lauren of Beautiful Bastard fame and their other sexy series, Wild Season. Dating You/HatingYou is their first standalone romance novel released today, June 6th. This romantic comedy will have you flipping through the pages while you lounge by the pool, take to the skies for a vacation or curl up on the couch with a glass *coughbottle* of wine. Check out the synopsis:
photo 71b4yv3BLzL.jpgDating You/Hating You (on sale June 6th) - Everyone knows that all's fair in love and war. But these two will learn that sabotage is a dish best served naked.
Despite the odds against them from an embarrassing meet-awkward at a mutual friend's Halloween party, Carter and Evie immediately hit it off. Even the realization that they're both high-powered agents at competing firms in Hollywood isn't enough to squash the fire.
But when their two agencies merge - causing the pair to vie for the same position - all bets are off. What could have been a beautiful, blossoming romance turns in to an all-out war of sabotage. Carter and Evie are both thritysomething professionals - so why can't they act like it?
Can Carter stop trying to please everyone and see how their mutual boss is really playing the game? Can Evie put aside her competitive nature long enough to figure out what she really wants in life? Can their actor clients just be something close to human? Whether these two Hollywood love/hatebirds get the storybook Hollywood ending, or just a dramedy of epic proportions, you get to enjoy Chistina Lauren's heartfelt, hilarious story of romance in the modern world.

ROBsessed Giveaway: Snatch up a summer read with Public Relations by Katie Heaney and Arianna Rebolini

ROBsessed Giveaway: Snatch up a summer read with Public Relations by Katie Heaney and Arianna Rebolini

Are you gathering books for summer reads? We have one to add to your list and we're hosting a ROBsessed Giveaway in honor of Rob's birthday so our readers have a chance to win a copy of the just-released novel, Public Relations! This is definitely a fun read for us since we happen to follow a celebrity and the ins and outs of his professional and personal life.
Read the following to learn about the story and the authors:

photo 51bokmGK5eL.jpgPUBLIC RELATIONS, a new novel from Katie Heaney and Arianna Rebolini that peeks behind the curtain of modern celebrity culture and reveals the public relations know-how that plays a role in every superstar’s image.
Young PR star Rose Reed is thrown into the big leagues when her boss leaves town the day of the firm's meeting with Archie Fox, a hot, internationally famous British singer-songwriter. He's totally over fame and has withdrawn from the spotlight, but now, his audience is losing interest too. While meeting with Archie and his desperate manager, the PR team throws out terrible idea after terrible idea until Rose speaks up and suggests a staged with up-and-coming, young indie star Raya. He agrees – but only if Rose becomes his publicist.
As the faux-mance begins to rehabilitate Archie's faltering career, Rose finds herself having unexpected, inconvenient (and definitely unprofessional) feelings for the crooner. But do late night texts and impromptu burrito binges mean he feels the same? In the end, Rose will have to decide whether to let her fantasy crush go, or to risk her reputation to be with the charming, handsome, scoundrel-y but sweet pop star she's grown to love.
Like The Devil Wears Prada and The Royal We, PUBLIC RELATIONS offers readers a fictional peek into a larger-than-life world, filled with strategized dinner dates, carefully curated wardrobe selections, purposeful calls to paparazzi, and unexpected romantic entanglements.
Katie Heaney is the author of NEVER HAVE I EVER and DEAR EMMA. Her work has appeared in Cosmopolitan, New York magazine online, The Hairpin, The Awl, and Pacific Standard, among others. She lives in Brooklyn. Visit her website at www.katieheaney.com or on Twitter at @KTHeaney
Arianna Rebolini is a writer and editor whose work can be seen at The Guardian, BuzzFeed, Racked, The Fader, The Hairpin, and elsewhere. She lives in Brooklyn with her partner and two perfect rescue cats. Find her at www.ariannarebolini.com.

ROBsessed wishes you a Happy Valentine's Day + enter our giveaway for Emma Chase's steamy series!

UPDATE: Winner announced below! We will email you for your mailing address :) Thanks for participating!

We love you guys and we love Rob so spread the love and have a great day!

Verena made a sultry video featuring DiorRob2.0 for VDay. He's the perfect muse *sigh*.

We also want to offer a new giveaway for the day of love. In the past, we've featured Emma Chase's Tangled series on the blog. I started reading the Legal Brief series because I've been on this lawyer kick in romantic novels. Overruled (HAAAAWT) and Sustained (and HAWWWWTTER) were released last year and Appealed was released last month.

So who's interested in some steamy reads with some of the finest attorneys around?? Check out the synopses.

The first book is about the southern charmer, Stanton, and also introduces you to the two other leading men in the rest of the series. Drew from the Tangled series also makes an appearance. A smorgasbord of yummy men that starts with Overruled:
 photo 51yvVP9qlBL.jpg
A Washington, DC, defense attorney, Stanton Shaw keeps his head cool, his questions sharp, and his arguments irrefutable. They don’t call him the Jury Charmer for nothing—with his southern drawl, disarming smile, and captivating green eyes, he’s a hard man to say no to. Men want to be him, and women want to be thoroughly cross examined by him.
Stanton’s a man with a plan. And for a while, life was going according to that plan.
Until the day he receives an invitation to the wedding of his high school sweetheart, the mother of his beloved ten-year-old daughter. Jenny is getting married—to someone who isn’t him.
That’s definitely not part of the plan.
***
Sofia Santos is a city-raised, no-nonsense litigator who plans to become the most revered criminal defense attorney in the country. She doesn’t have time for relationships or distractions.
But when Stanton, her “friend with mind-blowing benefits,” begs her for help, she finds herself out of her element, out of her depth, and obviously out of her mind. Because she agrees to go with him to The-Middle-Of-Nowhere, Mississippi, to do all she can to help Stanton win back the woman he loves. Her head tells her she’s crazy…and her heart says something else entirely.
What happens when you mix a one-stop-light town, two professional arguers, a homecoming queen, four big brothers, some Jimmy Dean sausage, and a gun-toting Nana?
The Bourbon flows, passions rise, and even the best-laid plans get overruled by the desires of the heart.
What we know about Jake is limited in the first book and I suspect he likes it that way. But Sustained is HIS story and it's a goooood one:
 photo 51OXMmT8I4L.jpg
A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.
When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.
Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will get you off. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.
Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I’m going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and am knee deep in a damn compost pit.
Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, and defend her…and the kids.
And that—that, I know how to do.
The last book gives us Brent's story and I can't wait to see what Appealed is all about. It looks like it's the lawyer story I've been searching for - prosecutor and the defense going at it...in more ways than one. ;)
 photo 51mULuTUHkL.jpg
When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate – and prized – parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.
Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.
And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
**
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.
She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore – she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.
But things aren’t exactly working out that way.
Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.
APPEALED is a sexy, humorous romance about first crushes, second chances and the final verdict of the heart.

 photo 51ulZ2NTlL.jpg
When three college besties meet three hot guys in Vegas, anything can—and does—happen. Book Four in the New York Times Wild Seasons series that began with Sweet Filthy Boy (the Romantic Times book of the year that Sylvia Day called “a sexy, sweet treasure of a story”), Dirty Rowdy Thing, and Dark Wild Night.

For two people ambivalent about dating and love, they sure get naked around each other an awful lot . . .

London Hughes is very content to surf daily, tend bar, hang out with her group of friends, and slowly orient herself in the years after college. Everything’s going great and according to the non-plan.

But when a wave knocks her for a loop one morning, then Luke Sutter’s flirtatious smile knocks her for another that evening, she veers slightly off course…and into his path. Sure, he’s a total player, but the Why not—it’s only one night is a persistent voice in her ear.

For his part, Luke’s been on hookup autopilot for so long that he rarely ever pauses to consider what he’s doing. But after an amazing time with London, he realizes that he hasn’t been moving on from a devastating heartbreak so much as he’s been drifting to wherever—and whomever—the current takes him. With London he wants more.

Every relationship involves two people…plus their pasts. And as much as she enjoys her fling with Luke, when London learns about his past—more specifically, who’s in it—everything becomes the brand of complicated she strives to avoid. It’s up to Luke then to change some things in order to try and ensure he’s not something she’ll outright avoid as well.
In case you haven't heard of the other books in the series, here are the synopses of all the books in the giveaway!

SWEET FILTHY BOY synopsis:
 photo 81iPj7qv-L.jpg
One-night stands are supposed to be with someone convenient, or wickedly persuasive, or regrettable. They aren’t supposed to be with someone like him.
But after a crazy Vegas weekend celebrating her college graduation—and terrified of the future path she knows is a cop-out—Mia Holland makes the wildest decision of her life: follow Ansel Guillaume—her sweet, filthy fling—to France for the summer and just…play.
When feelings begin to develop behind the provocative roles they take on, and their temporary masquerade adventures begin to feel real, Mia will have to decide if she belongs in the life she left because it was all wrong, or in the strange new one that seems worlds away.
 photo 81g2wF-U8rL.jpgDIRTY ROWDY THING synopsis:

Despite their rowdy hookups, Harlow and Finn don’t even like each other...which would explain why their marriage lasted only twelve hours. He needs to be in charge and takes whatever he wants.

She lives by the Want-something-done? Do-it-yourself mantra. Maybe she’s too similar to the rugged fisherman—or just what he needs.

We interviewed Christina Lauren about DIRTY WILD THING (my fave of the series so far) when it was released last year...
Q: Fan casting is fun. Who have you fan casted for Harlow and Finn? Or who have you seen others suggest?
photo ScreenShot2014-09-25at112139PM.pngChristina Lauren: Ooh this is a good one but our answer is going to be a cop out—but wait! With good reason! See, it’s really hard to find an actress who fits Harlow. Harlow is half Spanish, half Irish-European mutt, so she has darker hair and skin but light brown eyes. In our mind her face is very Emma-Stone, but she’s more golden, darker-eyed. Finn is similarly tricky for us to cast. But since it’s a Rob site, we can totally confide here that if Rob put on about 30 pounds of muscle, he could rock the role.

DARK WILD NIGHT synopsis:
 photo 81rB7mb1qfL.jpg
Lola and Oliver like to congratulate themselves on having the good sense not to consummate their drunken Las Vegas marriage. If they'd doubled-down on that mistake, their "Just Friends" situation might not be half as great as it is now.
...Or so goes the official line.
In reality, Lola's wanted Oliver since day one - and over time has only fallen harder for his sexy Aussie accent and easygoing ability to take her as she comes. More at home in her studio in her studio than in baring herself to people, Lola's instinctive comfort around Oliver nearly seems too good to be true. So why ruin a good thing?
Even as geek girls fawn over him, Oliver can't get his mind off what he didn't do with Lola when he had the chance. He knows what he wants with her now...and it's far outside the friend zone. When Lola's graphic novel starts getting national acclaim - and is then fast-tracked for a major motion picture - Oliver steps up to be there for her whenever she needs him. After all, she's not the kind of girl who likes all that attention, but maybe she's the kind who'll eventually like him.
Sometimes seeing what's right in front of us takes a great leap of faith. And sometimes a dark wile night in Vegas isn't just the end of the day, but the beginning of a bright new life.

ROBsessed Giveaway: Enter THE HOUSE if you dare for a creeptastic October read by Christina Lauren

Everyone loves a scary story right?

 photo gif8.gif

Rob's face is pretty much my reaction. I'm such a wuss and easily frightened by films and books that make it their mission to give you the creeps. Well Christina Lauren is back this fall to freak you the BLEEP out.

 photo 81qKYIyRoaL.jpg
Last year, the ladies dived into Young Adult fiction with their creeptastic and eerily whimsical story, Sublime. This year, they return to freak-out-fiction and want to make your house unlivable with THE HOUSE *enter screams here*.

Author, Ransom Riggs, warns, "Don't read it at home alone. Or at night. Or at all if you scare easy." Sheesh! I'll admit, I started and had to stop. I told you. I'm a wuss. I like peace of mind, OK. But for you daredevils out there, maybe you think you can enter THE HOUSE. We'll see. We'll see.

Summary:
His shirt is black, jeans are black, and shaggy black hair falls into his eyes. And when Gavin looks up at Delilah, the dark eyes shadowed with bluish circles seem to flicker to life.
He lives in that house, the one at the edge of town. Spooky and maybe haunted. Something worse than haunted. And Gavin is trapped by its secrets.
Delilah and Gavin can't resist each other. But staying together will exact a price beyond their imagining.
GAH. I can't. *cowers away*

We know all about someone being hot like FIIIIIEYAAAAAH, don't we?

No need to simmer down because this book series wants you to stay enflamed.

Back in March, we did a giveaway for Kate Meader's Hot in Chicago series debut, FLIRTING WITH FIRE. Now we're back with the followup, PLAYING WITH FIRE! Publishers Weekly calls the second novel flawless and superb with captivating characters and we agree. You'll love the series and especially book 2:

 photo 51bU3tPMUSL.jpg
As the only female firefighter at Engine Co. 6, Alexandra Dempsey gets it from all sides: the male coworkers who think she can’t do the job, the wives and girlfriends who see her as a threat to their firefighter men, and her overprotective foster brothers who want to shelter their baby sister at all costs. So when she single-handedly saves the life of Eli Cooper, Chicago’s devastatingly handsome mayor, she assumes the respect she’s longed for will finally come her way. But it seems Mr. Mayor has other ideas…
Eli Cooper’s mayoral ratings are plummeting, his chances at reelection dead in the water. When a sexy, curvaceous firefighter gives him the kiss of life, she does more than bring him back to the land of the living—she also breathes vitality into his campaign. Riding the wave of their feel-good story might prop up Eli’s flagging political fortunes, but the sizzling attraction between them can go nowhere; he’s her boss, and there are rules that must be obeyed. But you know what they say about rules: they’re made to be broken…

FanFic Friday
The other fic I read and enjoyed was Wrenfield Hall. I love a period fic and this was delicious with just enough scandal to keep me from biting my nails clear off. We have Bella who lost her father, the only family she had, who just scored a job working for Lord Edward Masen as a housemaid. The UST is primed and ready with this scenario and period stories do UST sooooooo well. Upstairs/downstairs drama is fun and the characterizations of Edward and Bella don't disappoint. Well written and a great time port back to the era of 1870s England. Give it a go!

In case you don't know about the prior 2 books in the series, here are the summaries to entice you as well as an interview excerpt.

We interviewed Christina Lauren about DIRTY WILD THING (my fave of the two) when it was released last year...

FanFic Friday
I haven't gotten much fic reading done and ended up reading 2 stories from my TBR list that have been on there for ages. I loved them both! Hands down, I recommend In The Debris. This story was beautifully written and you don't just fall for Edward and Bella, you fall for Victoria and James too! That's rare. The POVs are Edward and Victoria and just thinking about them makes me want to reread the fic. I was completely captivated by their voices. The setting is high school but these kids are dealing with heavy but realistic issues. It's an oldie so you might have already checked it out. If not, start it tout de suite! I'll tell you guys about the other fic next week!

ROBsessed Giveaway: Robert Pattinson makes her weak in the knees so we're giving away her book for Fiction Friday!

Last week we interviewed Sophie Jackson about her upcoming release, A Pound of Flesh. Click HERE if you missed our interview! The winners of the giveaway are below but you can also grab a copy of the book, out on June 9th, from our Amazon links.

This week, we're shedding some light on an author that Flavia linked on twitter. Effrosyni Moschoudi had some perfect words to say about Rob in an interview she did with Kelly Smith Reviews.

I selected a couple of excerpts from the interview about her novels and of course the parts about Rob. Click HERE to read the interview in its entirety.
What was the inspiration behind your novels The Lady Of The Pier and The Necklace of Goddess Athena?
The Necklace of Goddess Athena is my debut novel and this is a book that has helped me express my love and admiration for my country, its people and massive heritage. I’ve always had foreign friends and found it hard to explain what makes the Greek psyche so different, why it’s hard for other nations to relate. I am confident this book said it all (*laughs*). As for The Lady of the Pier, you may be surprised to know that the first volume of this trilogy, The Ebb, is a memoir in a way, when it comes to young Sofia holidaying in Corfu. I have a huge affinity for this island where my mother was born and raised. I used to be a youngster just like Sofia, holidaying with my grandparents there every summer. I have a myriad of fond memories and I guess the inspiration stemmed from those; I felt the need to record them on paper and to share them with the world. My readers tell me Sofia’s story feels like you’re actually on the island. It always pleases me to hear this; it means there’s truth in my novel and therefore, that my work is done.
Living in Greece obviously influences your writing quite a bit. For those who aren't familiar with the locale, what is it about the country that is so inspiring? (I want to visit there one day!)
What can I say about Greece? My country is a scatter of sun-bleached stones thrown into the sea. The foreign visitors find here a beauty that is unique to the rest of the world, not just because of the deep blue or the clarity of the water, but also because of the unique Greek light that doesn’t compare to any other in the world. I remember when Hollywood filmed Captain Corelli’s Mandolin in Kefalonia, I read in the papers they couldn’t get over the natural light. Only a filmmaker or photographer will really know the difference, I guess. To the Greeks the sun and the sea are mainly what Greece is all about and I think these are what stay with the tourists the most in the end, more even than the warm hospitality of the people, the delicious food and the awesome museums and archeological sites on offer.

...
photo RobertPattinsononstage1-1.jpgIn The Lady of The Pier, why did you decide to write of a decade-crossing story of forbidden love?
This story is a sweet romance with a paranormal twist. I had to have two different stories far apart in time for the paranormal element to work. This paranormal element becomes more and more prominent in the second and third book of the the trilogy as the two worlds slowly merge until they become one. I can’t say more as that would give spoilers!
Would you like to see either book as a film? If yes, who do you want to see play your characters?
Oh yes, of course! Isn’t this every author’s dream? I have The Lady of the Pier fully cast in my head. The hero is Robert Pattinson, the heroine is Amanda Seyfried and the villain is Jonathan Rhys Meyers. He plays a wicked baddy!
...
Thank you for participating in the interview. Can you please leave the readers with three things that may surprise them about you?

Whereas normal people have a craving for coffee or chocolate, mine is hazelnuts. I can always say no to chocolate, but keep those hazelnuts coming and I’ll never stop!

The sight of Robert Pattinson makes me weak at the knees.

While working for an airline in an Athens office (2003-2005), I used to go to work every day dressed as an air hostess.
I totally approve of this assessment. Rob does in fact make one weak in the knees. We should be giving away kneepads but instead we're giving away Effrosyni Moschoudi's The Lady of the Pier. She said Rob would play her hero if she got to cast the film so I'm SOLD.

Click HERE to check out reviews on GoodReads and here's an additional synopsis (Moschoudi explained more in the interview above):

 photo 81nD-hx-UUL._SL1500_.jpgBRIGHTON, 1937
Dreaming of wealth and happiness, Laura Mayfield arrives in Brighton to pursue a new life. She falls for Christian Searle, a happy-go-lucky stagehand at the West Pier theater, but when she’s offered a chance to perform there, her love for him is put to the test. Charles Willard, a wealthy aristocrat, is fascinated by her and pursues her relentlessly. Will Laura choose love…or money?
CORFU, 1987
On a long holiday with her grandparents, Sofia Aspioti meets Danny Markson, a charming flirt who makes her laugh. Although she tries to keep him at arm’s length, worried that village gossip will get back to her strict family, she falls desperately in love. That’s when strange dreams about Brighton’s West Pier and a woman dressed in black begin to haunt her. Who is this grieving woman? And how is her lament related to Sofia’s feelings for Danny?

FanFic Friday
After reading Rochelle Allison's The (Wet) Dreamgirl, I browsed her favorite stories. I settled on One Day by RueForRegret. It wasn't until the end of the story I realized this was GeorgeyGirl from Weight of Words fame. That fic was published along with its sequels and it's great in case you missed it.
One Day deals with older an Edward and Bella. I don't read too many fics like that but I just adored this story and adored them both. They meet as teenagers in Toronto and reconnect later as adults - Bella with a teenage daughter. I won't say anything else because I think it's best you let this unfold the way it's told - in flashbacks and present day. This Edward is perfection. Not to say he's without flaw like a normal person but you'll see what I mean. I want him *cries*. And this Bella is great too. As her teen self and her adult self. The story is sexy and emotional and everything in between. Read it if you haven't already!

ROBsessed Giveaway: We interview Sophie Jackson and give away A Pound of Flesh for Fiction Friday!

ROBsessed Giveaway: We interview Sophie Jackson and give away A Pound of Flesh for Fiction Friday!

This week's giveaway should be a treat for many of you because it's coming from a previous fanfic author with a very well known story.

 photo 651908449.gif

Sophie Jackson wrote the popular fanfiction, A Pound of Flesh, and the story is now being published under the same title! Releasing June 9th, A Pound of Flesh will be the first in a series (details below). We got a chance to interview Sophie about her story, dream casting, Rob (naturally) and more but first let's give you guys a synopsis in case you're a newbie like me:
photo 81rMovsvIfL.jpgHaunted by nightmares of her father’s street murder fifteen years ago, Kat Lane decides to face her fears and uphold his legacy of helping others by teaching inmates at a New York prison.
There she meets arrogant Wesley Carter, who’s as handsome as he is dangerous, as mysterious as he is quick-witted, and with a reputation that ensures people will keep their distance.
As teacher and student, Kat and Carter are forced to leave their animosities at the door and learn that one should never judge a book by its cover. As Carter’s barriers begin to crumble, Kat realizes there’s much more to her angry student than she thought, leaving them to face a new, perilous obstacle: their undeniable attraction to one another.
When Carter is released and Kat continues to tutor him on the outside, the obstacles mount.
Can they fight the odds to make their relationship work? Will Kat’s family and friends ever accept her being with someone of his background? And will Kat’s discovery of Carter’s role on the night her father died force them apart forever...or unite them?
And now our interview with Sophie Jackson!

Congratulations on A Pound of Flesh! I'm a lover of Twilight fanfic but remarkably late to the party for your wildly popular story. You know how you have stories on your TBR list and they just get away from you sometimes? It does however excite me to read the published work without the fanfic bias. I'm starting from scratch so tell me - what inspired you to write a fresh take on the teacher-student trope?

Thanks so much! When I originally got the idea for PoF, I set it in a high school. It was a story about a delinquent, ex-juvvy boy being tutored by an exemplary student girl, but their ages limited where I could go with the story, so I aged them 10 years and placed them in a prison.
As important as it was, the story wasn't ever really about the teacher/student relationship, but rather Kat and Carter having a mysterious history between them, while being in a hopeless situation, in a hopeless setting, which added to the tension between the two of them. I hope it worked.

I'm a big follower of the podcast Serial and by proxy, Adnan Syed's ongoing case. I also listen to a follow up podcast, Undisclosed, that factually tracks the case even more than Serial. I say all that to say I'm increasingly sensitive to the issues surrounding the incarcerated. Tell me about your choice of setting. How did you land in a New York prison to tell your tale?

New York is my favourite place in the world, so it had to be there!
I may have answered this above, but, Carter was always going to be a 'bad boy' while Kat had to be in a position of authority that would, again, increase the tension between them. Setting the story in Arthur Kill allowed the characters to get to know each other in ways they may not in an ordinary every day setting. Prison is not an easy place to be, which fit perfectly, because this relationship is anything but easy! I like to think that the prison also represents Carter's life before he meets Kat. It's only with her help that he manages to free himself of all his restraints, physically and emotionally.

I've spoken to other published fanfic authors who had a desire to publish and were exercising their skills and some who didn't know they had it in them and just had a story they wanted to try out. What came first for you? The desire to be a published novelist or the dive into the world of fanfiction?

Of course, being published is the dream, but I never believed it would happen for me. It was never the end goal.  It was always just about scratching a creative itch by writing characters I'd fallen in love with in a new and different way online. I loved writing Fanfiction; I love the people and the community. I've made some incredible friends. It was a baptism of fire, but invaluable to me as a writer. I learned so much.

Beyond the synopsis, what kind of guy is Wesley Carter? How does he pull your readers in? Do you think we get attached before Kat or follow her road?

Carter is stubborn, caring, mysterious, and passionate. He isn't a 'bad guy', but rather he's made bad decisions that were all based in love and friendship. He's loyal to a fault. He's had a pretty tough upbringing and lashes out as a way of protecting himself. He's pretty endearing from minute one, but I definitely think the reader sees what Kat sees as the story progresses. She is able to peel him apart layer by layer, which is great. The readers fall in love with him right along with her.

Have you dreamcasted your characters? If a studio rang you up today and said give us your ideal actors, who would play Kat Lane and Wesley Carter?

Tom Hardy for Carter seems to be a favourite amongst the fans, while I think Christina Hendricks would be my perfect Kat, curvy, sassy, sexy with all that glorious red hair!

Because we're a Robert Pattinson fan blog and you're no stranger, has he inspired your writing or characters in ways that will make our readers swoon and sigh?

He was and will always be my perfect Edward, but, in my fics, and certainly when I read other fics, I don't tend to cast him in my mind. Certain types of Edwards can conjure up his image, though, like a goofy, geeky, sweet, laughing Edward is just perfect for Rob in my opinion!

What's next for you in the literary world? Where do you go beyond A Pound of Flesh?

PoF is the first of five books in the series. After its release June 9th, it'll be followed by the enovella, Love and Always, which is out in August. This enovella gives us a glimpse of life for Kat and Carter straight after the end of PoF. That'll be followed by An Ounce of Hope, Carter's friend, Max's story, which will be available January 2016. Both are available for pre order now.

I haven't read any fanfic lately because I reread the Demonica series in anticipation for Hades, which released May 26th. I did however finally read Rochelle Allison's one-shot from a few months back. If you haven't checked it out already, do yourself a solid and tuck into this gem for a half hour. The (Wet) Dreamgirl is classic Rochelle which means it's perfect.

ROBsessed Giveaway: September Rains and Between Octobers during a Marvelous May for Fiction Friday!

ROBsessed Giveaway: September Rains and Between Octobers during a Marvelous May for Fiction Friday!

We have plenty of goodies today! Book sets, sequels and gift cards, oh my!

The book set is coming from an author and Rob fan who we've featured before with her novel, Between Octobers. You guys might recognize A. R. Rivera from the comments and she's our featured author for this Fiction Friday!

Last year, A.R. released Between Octobers and also let us know that Rob inspired one of the characters! From A. R.:
Rhys Matthews, also known as Evan, is a fictional character from my book, Between Octobers. He is Graces’ love interest–handsome, funny, charming, and an all-around nice guy. His career–the mania that surrounds him–is inspired by that of Robert Pattinson. He also happens to be British, with great hair and a few dark secrets. He is poised to steal Graces’ heart.

 photo sexy smile 2.gif

We certainly love when that happens. Her second book in the Savor The Days series, September Rain, is released today, May 15th and we have 2 copies to giveaway including 2 copies of Between Octobers. So our winners will be able to read the latest novel and catch up on the first if you haven't done so already. September Rain isn't a sequel to Between Octobers by plot but have connected characters - and the Rob-inspired character. ;)

Reviews aren't out yet for September Rain but an excerpt from this reviewer is just the perfect description for Between Octobers and what to expect from A. R.:
"I went into this book thinking it was going to be a run-of-the-mill thriller. I was pleasantly surprised when the book began seamlessly alternating between suspense and love story. I honestly don't know that I've ever read another book like it."
Between Octobers synopsis:
photo IMG_20140802_234151.jpgHappy endings have always eluded Grace Zuniga.
Now, she is in real trouble, hoping and praying that will change. When she wakes up in a dark, confined space with no memory of how she got there, the fear is nearly crippling.
There are only two thoughts keeping her from losing her head.
First, her children need her to survive. Though Grace is not sure she can, she's determined to try.
Second, figuring out who took her and how she ended up, pregnant, alone, and at the mercy of a person who will do anything to keep her from escaping.
Stumbling through her bleak circumstances, Graces mind wanders over the last life-changing year, from one October to the next, and relives the most precious moments and circumstances that led to her kidnapping.
The previous October, as Grace stepped inside an elevator and into the life of enigmatic Rhys Matthews, it all began. But Grace must ask herself, "where will it end?"
September Rain synopsis:
photo septemberrain.jpegClinging to your past will smother your right now . . . which is exactly what Angel Patel is hoping for, since nothing in her present life is quite what it seems.
The past is where she left her heart, beating inside the chest of the boy she loved. What does she have in the here and now that’s so special? Nothing and no one.
Angel’s been in prison for the past six years. She's got about sixty square feet of concrete flooring enclosed by concrete walls and one metal door. One twin-sized bunk. No windows—which means no view. No birds, no trees. No family to visit. No friends.
Avery Campbell doesn’t count. She was never Angels’ friend, though if you asked Avery, she’d say different. She’d sell her story to anyone; try to make them believe that it was okay for her to betray her life-long friend—the only real friend she ever had. Avery’s convinced that lies are acceptable if they protect someone. But that isn't always true.
It all goes back to when Angel and Avery met the hazel-eyed boy who would become the love of Angels’ life. Jake Haddon. He was a surprise. Such talent; a gorgeous, undiscovered, musical genius at the age of eighteen. He was also the lead singer of Angels’ favorite indie rock band on the cusp of stardom.
When the state prison Angel resides in is marked for closure, Angel and her lawyer go before a two-person panel to plead her request to be moved to a moderate security facility, better suited for someone like Angel. Ever anxious to draw out the memories of her life with Jake, Angel recalls how Jake was the only good part of her terrible life as a disposable kid, raised in foster care. With him, she was happy for the first time in seventeen years. Because she didn’t know what Avery was doing.
During the case review, as Angel recounts the lies and mistakes that snowballed into the sentence she’s currently serving, she’s simultaneously formulating a plan to escape. She aims to find her long-lost love, Jake, and spend the rest of eternity trying to make up for her part in the crimes that landed her in jail.
But before she can do that, she needs to get through the case review. She has to make sure that the interviewing panel understands that it was not her—that is was her best-friend turned sworn-enemy, Avery—who plotted and carried out the crimes. That it was Avery who killed Angels’ boyfriend, Jake Haddon.

This next giveaway has already started HERE but we wanted to post the info again as a reminder.

Beck Anderson is another Rob fan, supporter of the blog and novelist. We've featured her books before and now she has a brand new sequel. Beck wanted to give our readers a treat in honor of Rob's 29th birthday, which is the post where the giveaway debuted. You have a chance to win the eBook, Trouble Me, sequel to Fix You, as well as a $25 gift card for Amazon. Here's the synopsis:
photo 25346379.jpgIn Fix You, movie star Andrew Pettigrew (Andy to his fans, Andrew to his friends) somehow found the level-headed love he was looking for in young widow and “regular girl” Kelly Reynolds. Now, as they work to mesh their growing relationship with his gold-statue ambitions, things go a bit sideways, in true Hollywood fashion.

Though they’re still wonderfully in love, it’s challenge enough for Andrew and Kelly to decipher what it means to be a family—and a growing family at that—between takes on set. But Andrew also brings history with a temperamental co-star, assorted paparazzi, and someone out there who has serious, perhaps obsessive, issues with him into the mix. Suddenly the Reynolds-Pettigrew clan must fight not just to stay together, but to stay safe.
In Trouble Me, the sequel to Fix You and third novel from Rita finalist Beck Anderson, Kelly and Andrew struggle to stay sane within their whirlwind life. It’s a life that’s equal parts amazing and amusing, less glamorous than you might expect, and spiked with very real fears no amount of stardom can overcome.

Will Andrew and Kelly be torn apart, or will they help each other stay strong at their broken places?
