ROBsessed's 30 Days for Rob's 30 Years: Robert Pattinson's Awesome Role In 'Cosmopolis'

Yaaassssss indeed. Let's get in the mood by hearing from Mr. Packer for just a moment...

We're people in the world. We need to eat and talk.

Speak to me, Eric Packer! I can't tell you how much I love this performance. It's my favorite and it's awesome. It grows in awesomeness with each viewing and is wildly quotable. And who do we have to thank for that?

Rob chewed up this dialogue heavy role in a major way and captivated from the start.

He played a man that set out on a simple mission.

"Robert Pattinson Is A Fantastic Actor With Phenomenal Range" ~ Tom Ue (World Film Locations Author)

Back in February we told you about a publication called 'World Film Locations Toronto' By Tom Ue which featured none other than Robert Pattinson as Eric Packer on the cover.

 photo Torontocover1-1.jpg

Now, Tom has been interviewed by tribute.ca and was asked how he chose Rob and Cosmopolis to feature on the cover. Here's what he had to say (*whispers* I think you're gonna like it)

How did you choose Robert Pattinson/Cosmopolis for the cover?

Early in the production process, we knew we wanted to showcase David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis both because it is a great Cronenberg film and because it emblemizes some of the key themes about identity and representation that the book explores. Robert Pattinson’s links to Canadian cinema and Toronto as a city are further realized through his starring in Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars (2014) and Anton Corbijn’s Life (2015). He is a fantastic actor with phenomenal range.
Yes we agree with you 100% Tom. He IS a fantastic actor with phenomenal range!

128 pages | illustrated in color throughout | 6 x 9

Toronto is a changing city that has been a source of reflection and inspiration to writers and artists whose work focuses on the conditions and prospects of human life. A city on the move, it demands policies and regulation, and it offers the pleasures and perils of the massive and the anonymous. As a site of study, the city is inherently multidisciplinary, with natural ties to history, geography, sociology, architecture, art history, literature, and many other fields.

World Film Locations: Toronto explores and reveals the relationship between the city and cinema using a predominately visual approach. The juxtaposition of the images used in combination with insightful essays helps to demonstrate the role that the city has played in a number of hit films, including Cinderella Man, American Psycho, and X-Men and encourages the reader to frame an understanding of Toronto and the world around us. The contributors trace Toronto’s emergence as an international city and demonstrate the narrative interests that it has continued to inspire among filmmakers, both Canadian and international.

With support from experts in Canadian studies, the book’s selection of films successfully shows the many facets of Toronto and also provides insider’s access to a number of sites that are often left out of scholarship on Toronto in films, such as the Toronto International Film Festival. The 2014 release of this attractive volume will be a particularly welcome addition to the international celebrations of the city’s 180th anniversary.

Here are OUR choices for Cosmopolis still.

ERIC MICHAEL PACKER!

Tink:
"when a day is hard for me, i have to default to my first favorite. i also had to narrow things down. Cosmopolis is my favorite Rob film so i didn't let screencaps be an options. Rob's in practically every frame! but official stills were STILL too wide a selection since i wanted them all. that's why it came down to this classic shot of Eric Packer. i love this still sooooooo much. the unhinged look in Rob's eye. the crazed haircut. the depth perception of the shot. benno's office/Eric's tomb. nancy babich! it's a fantastic still. i also had Rob sign it at the BD1 premiere. it caught Stephanie and Nick's eye since Cosmopolis wasn't heating up yet promo wise. i was happy to get more than an "R" on the picture and it's one of the few Rob items i keep up at all times. im not a big autograph collector but i have 2 things Rob's signed that are special to me and this is one of them. i have an unconventional day job but if i had an office, my signed still would be on the wall and i'd talk endlessly about Rob and the film to anyone that asked about it. oh wait...i do that already :)"

Kat:
"Love the suave and sophisticated look, with a touch of playfulness in his face."

You got it, Eric Packer!

This is our ROBsessed Eric Packer appreciation post dedicated to NuzzlinRob. Nuzz is a longtime ROBsessor and D.R. resident and loves Cosmopolis. Many of you probably know what's going on because it's been heavy on your hearts in the comments. Some personal issues have kept her in her own private D.R. dwelling and away from us but the ROBsessed community continues to wish her all the best and a return to the D.R.'s main lounge area below in the comments asap. ;)

Maybe she needs a philosophical pause, some reflection courtesy of Eric? Yes, we think so.

365 Days of Robert Pattinson: Jan.19 ~ Rob Characters You Would FMK

365 Days of Robert Pattinson: Jan.19 ~ Rob Characters You Would FMK

Photobucket

I can't wait to see what you're all going to come up with for today's 365. I wonder will yours resemble any of our choices?

Kat

"F**k Eric, a little danger. Marry Jacob, because why not? Kill Edward, surely it's not possible anyway?"

Photobucket

Tink

"I’m switching things up from last time I played this. I would f*ck Georges Duroy because seriously. The man was built for a good f*cking. I would marry Jacob Jankowski because he couldn’t be more loving, sweet, sincere, and devoted. He’s a family man and loves animals - SOLD! I would kill Cedric Diggory for 2 reasons - 1. His age prohibits the other two things. Gross. and 2. This is his fate already."

Photobucket

Kate

"Oh my......... what a hard decision, well the first 2 aren't difficult, but the last one is the one I had problems with.
F**k is easy, DuRoy all the way. Marry, has to be good old Jacob. And kill, (I don't want to kill any of them. Don't laugh but I always thought FMK was F**k, Marry, Kiss, I think I prefer that ;-}) ANYWAY, if I HAVE to kill one of them then I guess it'll be Edward as he's already dead (I would also kiss him if it was F**k, Marry, Kiss ;-p)"
