Belgium: See Robert Pattinson in Bel Ami for the New year

Astrid officially wants me to jump off a cliff because I don't live in Belgium.

This post is for the luckiest ladies in the world that get to see Robert Pattinson play Georges Duroy in the first public viewing of Bel Ami.

As for the rest of us?

Astrid received her Ladies at the Movies newsletter and if you were still skeptical before, you shouldn't be now.

Translation:
Belgium gets to DuRob and you don't, bitches!

Photobucket

REAL translation:
Robert Pattinson goes after a few more mature women in "Bel Ami". This drama, based on the book by Guy de Maupassant, is about a young man who manipulates one of the most powerful men in Paris. Robert Pattinson seduces Uma Thurman & Christina Ricci!

(Astrid: The part above "Geschenktips: info & tickets" there is a small advert about a book you can buy at the cinema)

(Astrid: In the dark purple box it says): "Georges Duroy is a young, poor Casanova. At the end of the 19th centruy he travels to Paris to try to make his way up the social ladder. Once he's there he falls into a world where sex is power and obsession & power go hand in hand"

(Astrid: Below that it says that the official release is March 2nd.)
Jan. 31st was mentioned as the release date for Belgium before so not sure if that's changed. What hasn't changed is Belgium get's to see Bel Ami January 3rd and 4th.

Tickets are still available at some of the theaters. Why? I don't know.

Belgium, will you be seeing Robert Pattinson January 3rd and 4th?

Belgium, will you be seeing Robert Pattinson January 3rd and 4th?

We posted about Belgium getting the opportunity to view Bel Ami before any other country in this whole wide world. Astrid sent us the info and now she emailed us again about the Ladies At The Movies event:
100% sure it'll be the real Bel Ami. I went to Kinepolis today and they had this home made poster up. It says: "Enjoy this movie in avant premiere on Wednesday 4th of January. A period movie with an impressive cast: Robert Pattinson, Christina Ricci, Kristen Scott Thomas & Uma Thurman". Absolutely no idea why they added a pic of Nicole Kidman. I think they're confused. At least they got Rob right!!

Lucky Belgium!!! We're counting on you! And you guys BETTER report back ;)

Bel Ami also has a country wide release in Belgium for Jan. 31, 2012. So jealous!

Thanks for the heads up, Astrid!

Uma: It's time...I know it...
Rob: I swear if they're lying to my Belgium fans, I'm going to RUIN them.

Let's cut to the chase.

Reader, Astrid, sent us a heads up email saying Bel Ami was going to be playing in select Belgium theaters under the event, Ladies At The Movies. She said this event is something put together for women only and sometimes features films that are unreleased and star hot actors. LOL those were her words. ;)

I checked out the sight and my minimal french confirmed the things she shared. I went on to check the theaters that had Bel Ami listed. This is a screencap of one of the theaters.

Here's a list of all the Belgium theaters that have Bel Ami listed and the dates:
  • Kinepolis Hasselt (1 showing) Jan 3, 2012
  • Kinepolis Kortrijk (2 showings) Jan. 3, 2012
  • Metropolis Antwerpen (1 showing) Jan. 3, 2012
  • Kinepolis Gent (2 showings) Jan 4, 2012
  • Kinepolis Leuven (1 showing) Jan. 4, 2012
  • Kinepolis Oostende (1 showing) Jan. 4, 2012
  • Astrid said the film is at Kinepolis Brugge on Jan. 3rd but it's not showing the title to any film on that day. It DOES have showings for a Ladies At The Movies event.

Ok so real talk. Is this legit? The theaters exist and the event, Ladies At The Movies, is valid. Unless they plan on showing gay porn, there's only one other Bel Ami that's unreleased and stars a hot actor.

What would I do? Buy a ticket! With pricing no more than a normal movie ticket, it's a gamble worth taking. If you live in Belgium, give the theaters a call and see if you'll be watching Rob or if you'll be watching two men who are more than friends.

Then come back here and tell us allllllllllll about it. ;)

How many of you hate Belgium right now? They have the best live streams AND they get to DuRob in less than a month!

Rob is a lil bit annoyed, a lil bit frustrated...and so are we!

"Why they hate us?" ~jittzpattzing

This question was tweeted to me after the news I'm about to share and I sobbed in my custom-made Bel Ami DuRob pillow for hours.

From fansite, Bel Ami UK:

We cannot advise on the US release I’m afraid. However, in terms of with UK release, we do now have some news which may not be terribly favorable to yourself or the fan base.

It has now been confirmed that the release of BEL AMI will be moving to the start of next year due to talent availability. The availability of the cast is obviously always a key consideration for any film campaign, and having them available to support in the run up to release is of course always preferable.

Apologies for the disappointment this news will bring. Please allow us to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and rest assured we will be in touch when have some news on the campaign.

I don't live in the UK but this is rubbish! Why is there so much f*ckery surrounding the release of Bel Ami???

Want some more absurdities? Well apparently the film is going straight to DVD in Denmark. *scowls*

A google translation from Kino.dk:

The film has had several different premiere dates lately on 8 September. Now canceled movie theaters entirely and instead released directly to DVD.

The rumor for a US release date of October 19th has been floating for a week HERE and HERE.

Hope this to be true but the recent info regarding the UK and Denmark is troublesome. The Bel Ami UK fansite has a source close to production that they trust but this is all still speculation. Feel free to sob in your pillows as well but try and keep hope alive! The film needs it!

So who did Robert Pattinson Congratulate At The Beginning Of His BAFTA Presentation?

Ya I wanted to know too ;-) Well here's the answer.

From BelAmiFilm.com

Robert Pattinson did a bang up job presenting an award for Original Screenplay at the BAFTA’s today but are you curious about who he congratulated before he got on with the task at hand. We were too. (Kate: Of course I was, I want to know EVERYTHING!)

Rob, being the sweetheart that he is, took the time to congratulate Jenny Shircore on her BAFTA win for MAKE UP & HAIR: THE YOUNG VICTORIA. Why would he go out of his way to thank her, well because she is currently working with Rob on Bel Ami.

If she’s responsible for his hair, then imma thank and congratulate her too because Rob looks very very hot in Bel Ami. (Kate: Ya looks like all these top people working on Bel Ami is gonna make a really good film. I'm SO excited)

Robert Pattinson Talks About Gaining Weight For Bel Ami, Riding Bareback For Unbound Captives :)

The boy in the bubble

He's bigger than Ben-Hur at the moment, if you believe all the hype. Yet to come face-to-face with Robert Pattinson is to meet a serious artist, a multi-talented individual who could as easily have been a classical or funky musician as a movie star.

The Twilight juggernaut is propelling the 23-year-old British actor to the heights of mega stardom and, having previously only played minor roles, most notably as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, he is making the most of it.

The small independent movie, Remember Me, was able to go ahead as the result of his casting and Pattinson is now in Unbound Captives, a western set in 1859, where the world's sexiest youngster gets to act alongside the "Sexiest Man Alive", Hugh Jackman. (Kate:Less of the youngster please, Rob is all man!)

"The Twilight fans are so devoted, even fanatical, that I'm now able to do so many films," Pattinson says. "The economy is just so bad at the moment. I don't care if they think I'm right for the part or not. I can get their movie made, which is great."

The trim actor says what has happened to him has been "pure luck." After all, handsome Henry Cavill, who made a dashing impression in TV's The Tudors as Henry's friend, the Duke of Suffolk, had been Twilight author Stephanie Meyer's original choice to play Edward Cullen, the lovelorn vampire who falls in love with the human Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart).

But Cavill was too old by the time the blockbuster movie went ahead and Pattinson won the role instead. "I never set out to achieve anything, certainly not fame like this," he admits. "I still have to deal with how to actually make my life work."
