Robert Pattinson's "Queen Of The Desert" & "Maps To The Stars" On Indiewires "50 Indie Films We Want To See In 2013"

Indiewire compiled a list of the 50 Indie Films that they are excited to see in 2013.
Robert Pattinson's "Queen Of The Desert" & "Maps To The Stars" both made it onto the list.

They think that "David & Rob's second collaboration in "Maps to the Stars" looks mighty appealing" & they say that "Herzog tends to bring out the maniacal side of his actors, which means "Queen of the Desert" could be a thrill ride in more ways than one"

Mighty appealing is an understatement and we are SO ready to go on that thrill ride, right?

Check out what they had to say about them below

"Map to the Stars"
Director: David Cronenberg
Cast: Viggo Mortensen, Rachel Weisz, Robert Pattinson
Distributor: None as of yet.
Release Date: Very likely to premiere in Cannes or Venice or Toronto, with a deal and release date to follow.
Why Might It Be a Must See: Whatever you think of Robert Pattison becoming David Cronenberg's newfound muse, their second collaboration in as many years looks mighty appealing. The long-delayed "Map to The Stars" also brings Cronenberg's other righthand man Viggo Mortensen along for the ride (as well as Rachel Weisz), and is said to be a complex Hollywood satire... It's also the first film the Canadian director has actually shot in America. [Peter Knegt]

"Queen of the Desert"
Director: Werner Herzog
Cast: Naomi Watts, Robert Pattinson, Jude Law
Distributor: N/A
Release date: Nothing yet.
Why Might It Be a Must See: Just because he was recently seen onscreen as the villain in "Jack Reacher" doesn't mean Herzog has sold out. Every since "Rescue Dawn," the kooky Bavarian filmmaker has entered a compelling new stage with the narrative side of his filmmaking career, delivering bizarre, discursive dramas (can anyone really explain "My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?") with the same loony poetry that often spills out of Herzog's mouth (that iguana bit in "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" was something else). Herzog's new movie looks like a consolidation of his life as an adventurous documentarian and oddball fiction work: The movie stars Watts as legendary explorer Gertrude Bell and Pattinson as "Lawrence of Arabia" author T.E. Lawrence. Herzog tends to bring out the maniacal side of his actors, which means this could be a thrill ride in more ways than one. [Eric Kohn]

A Taster Of What We Have To Look Forward To On Robert Pattinson's "Remember Me" DVD Commentary

A Taster Of What We Have To Look Forward To On Robert Pattinson's "Remember Me" DVD Commentary

While Robert Pattinson spends his June promoting "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," Summit Entertainment is working its cross-pollination magic by pushing "Remember Me" out on DVD.

Due June 22, the romantic drama starring Pattinson and "Lost" blond Emilie de Ravin touts a major bonus feature -- a cast commentary track in which the heartthrob drops serious pearls about his filming experience.

Taking the lead for our favorite factoid: Pattinson's dirty journaling. Playing the broody Tyler, the actor spent most of the film scrawling mysteriously in a leather-bound notebook. "On set I kept on going up to Rob and saying, 'You've got to write in your journal, mate,'" producer Nick Osbourne said.

Said Pattinson: "I remember writing all these kind of pornographic poems, whenever there was a close-up on it. Horrible, horrible things in bold capital letters." (Kate:{giggle})

We can only hope a man from Nantucket was involved.

Other amazing insights into Rob's soul include ...

His sex scene was scary: Pattinson was "terrified" during his boom-boom moment with De Ravin. More so, he was sympathetic to the director of photography, "who had to look deep into my ... crack for a long time." (Kate: Next time that is part of a film, can I apply for the job please!)

His mother was appalled at the thought of a tattoo: Pattinson's character has his brother's name inked on his left pec as a memorial. When his mom saw it in the "Remember Me" trailer, she called him immediately. "I was like, 'Really, do you think I tattooed 'Michael' on my chest?" (Kate: Awwww Mum's will always worry about their babies!)

Fans take note -- when in Los Angeles, he reads scripts in a fast-food restaurant parking lot: "I was in an In 'N Out burger car park where I used to always read scripts. ... I realized I liked the character Tyler in the first four pages." Perhaps he celebrated with a Double-Double.

He's not shy about his frustrations with the paparazzi: As the film's New York shoot was plagued with photogs, almost every scene in the "Remember Me" commentary comes with some anecdote about the invasive shutterbugs. "They showed absolutely no respect for anything," Pattinson remarks.

Big dramatic fight scenes (like in, um, "Eclipse") bore him: Pattinson gets roughed up by costar Chris Cooper in the film, and loved every minute of it. "It's probably the most fun I've ever had in a scene," he says of being slammed against the hood of a car. "Normally the fights are so choreographed, it makes it boring."

Rob does a mean Barney Gumble: Pattinson randomly bursts out in an impression of resident derelict Barney from "The Simpsons" on the commentary track. And it's actually pretty spot on.

Robert Pattinson To Appear On “Tonight Show With Jay Leno”

Robert Pattinson To Appear On “Tonight Show With Jay Leno”

We told you last month that Rob was rumoured to be appearing on Leno, well today it was confirmed.

It’s promotion time, and for this go-around Jay Leno’s got Robert Pattinson.

A source close to the production tells Gossip Cop, Pattinson will be on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on June 15 to promote Eclipse.

Last time around, while promoting New Moon, Pattinson appeared on rival “Late Show with David Letterman,” where the talk show host famously told the Twilight star, “Oh, bite me,” when Pattinson said he’s been “cryptically avoiding” answering whether he’s dating Kristen Stewart.

Hopefully, Leno will get more out of Pattinson this time around.

Will you be watching?
