'The Batman' Filming Temporarily Halts After Robert Pattinson Tests Positive For Covid-19

'The Batman' Filming Temporarily Halts After Robert Pattinson Tests Positive For Covid-19

image host

Vanity Fair  is reporting that filming on 'The Batman' has been temporarily halted due to Rob testing positive for Covid-19. I know we are all thinking of Rob and wishing him a speedy recovery!

From Vanity Fair:

"Robert Pattinson has tested positive for coronavirus, according to Vanity Fair, prompting “The Batman” to suspend filming in the United Kingdom.

Warner Bros. confirmed earlier on Thursday that production was being put on hold after a crew member tested positive but did not confirm the person’s identity.

“A member of ‘The Batman’ production has tested positive for COVID-19 and is isolating in accordance with established protocols,” a Warner Bros. spokesperson said in a statement. “Filming is temporarily paused.”

The studio did not immediately respond to a request for comment about whether or not Pattinson had contracted the virus, nor did a representative for the actor.

News of the shutdown comes days after the gritty comic book adventure went back into production following months-long filming delays. “The Batman,” starring Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, was about seven weeks into filming when they had to turn off cameras due to the pandemic. The movie has approximately three months of material left to shoot and hopes to be done filming by the end of the year."

NEWS RECAP: Robert Pattinson's The Batman finds a cinematographer, gets support from Jaden Smith, Catwoman speculation + MORE

NEWS RECAP: Robert Pattinson's The Batman finds a cinematographer, gets support from Jaden Smith, Catwoman speculation + MORE

This is a collection of some small news and tidbits for The Batman that I've looked at and wanted to share. Nothing huge regarding Rob but still all fun and interesting.

First up, legit news via The Playlist. Greig Fraser will be the cinematographer for The Batman. Some of his work includes Rogue One, Zero Dark Thirty, and Vice plus a previous film with Matt Reeves - Let Me In. His work is gorgeous. When I read he'd worked on Rogue One, many shots instantly came to mind that struck me when I first watched that film. Give it a watch or rewatch if you want to see what I'm talking about.

Batman producer, Michael E. Uslan, had some thoughts about anxious fans: “My position is this: trust the filmmaker and give the filmmaker, and the filmmaker’s vision, the benefit of the doubt. Then wait ’til you see the movie.” Click HERE to read more from his interview via ComicBook.

There's someone who's not anxious AT ALL. Jaden Smith. Excerpt from Rolling Stone:
RS: From one Batman fan to another, how do you feel about Robert Pattinson getting to play Batman?
Jaden Smith: Oh my gosh, I don’t even know what to say. Amazing things are happening every day that you don’t even know. I don’t even know. I’m at a loss for words with how excited I am for him. It has to happen. It has to fucking happen. He will be the best Batman. I’m losing my fucking shit.
That's the attitude to have. I love it. We even have Michael Jackson's sons weighing in. Now, Prince on the right sounds belligerent. I brushed his entire opinion aside. But Blanket on the left is thoughtful and open. This amused me.

So the pressure is on! As if Matt, Rob, Warner Bros, etc. didn't know this. But Oscar winning composer and good friend of Matt Reeves, Michael Giacchino, wanted to make sure everyone had a reminder. He got the Comic Con crowd to lay it on thick just in case anyone was breathing easy for a day:

All in good fun and support. :)
Such a strange world we're in now...do our dark recesses even exist anymore? I leave you with Matt having cryptic fun on twitter and a Batman vid from Emergency Awesome speculating about Vanessa Kirby (who I love and totally see it) for Catwoman.

MOVIE NEWS: Robert Pattinson exits The Souvenir sequel, casting rumors spread about The Batman + MORE

According to Indiewire, Rob will not be able to film Joanna Hogg's The Souvenir sequel. Production was slated for next month but as we know, Rob is filming Nolan's Tenet this summer, already in production.

A rep for Rob told Indiewire, "Despite Rob’s strong desire to do the film, scheduling proved impossible but he very much looks forward to working with Joanna on something down the line." No doubt he will. Rob never forgets his director bucket list.

Switching to The Batman, fansite, Geeks WorldWide, claims to have exclusive info on villains that will be in the film. Matt Reeves has already stated in The Hollywood Reporter that he will feature Batman's rogues gallery, a phrasing often used to describe Batman's many villains in the comics. It looks like Geeks WorldWide got a hold of the casting call sheet for the film. Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler and Firefly are on the list requesting actors of any ethnicity between various ages to play the roles.

You likely know Catwoman, famously played by Michelle Pfeiffer, The Penguin, played by Danny DeVito, and The Riddler played by Jim Carrey. Or I could be dating myself? Making presumptions about your interest in 90s Batman films? Firefly, I don't know at all. Do any of you? Beyond the comics, Firefly seems to have made appearances in video games.

We'll see if these rumors pan out and who will be cast in these iconic roles. Visit GWW for a little more description of the villains. For example, the "tight one piece" will be worn by The Penguin. ;) A fanboy on a Reddit thread had an interesting theory that I dig:

Catwoman is definitely going to need to have smoking' hawt chemistry with Battinson. I mean......

image host

I'm putting all the responsibility on the actresses. Sorry, acting ladies. Look at the post labels. This is a fact. He can set the screen on fire all alone. Can you handle it? Can you bring more combustable elements?? I certainly look forward to the official casting news! Which won't be at Comic Con. :( *womp womp*

I'll leave you with another fanvid for The Batman. Can you name all the Rob films the fanboy pulled from? Of course you can. You got your Robology degree at ROBsessed University. Some folks are just getting started....

MOVIE NEWS: Name of Christopher Nolan's Movie Starring Robert Pattinson Is Revealed

Details of Christopher Nolan's movie starring Robert Pattinson including the name, full cast and more were revealed today!

From The Hollywood Reporter:
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh and Michael Caine have joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s latest movie, Warner Bros. said Wednesday.

John David Washington is leading the international cast that also includes Robert Pattinson and Elizabeth Debicki. Tenet is described as an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage.

Tenet is being filmed in seven countries, using a mix of Imax and 70mm film.

From Collider
The pieces of Christopher Nolan‘s next cinematic puzzle are starting to fall into place, as Robert Pattinson is poised to star opposite John David Washington in the next film from the director of Inception, Collider has exclusively learned.

With plot details being kept under wraps, little is known about the actual film, though Variety described it as “a massive, innovative action blockbuster” that will once again be shown in IMAX — no surprise given Nolan’s preference for the large-screen format. Nolan will produce alongside his wife and longtime collaborator, Emma Thomas, and Warner Bros. will release the movie on July 17, 2020, with production expected to start this summer.

My understanding is that Pattinson and Washington (BlacKkKlansman) will play the two leads, and there will also be an age-appropriate female lead, as well as an older male co-star. I don’t know if there’s a love triangle in play here, or whether Pattinson and Washington will be friends or enemies, so just like all of you, I can’t wait to find out what Nolan’s next movie is actually about. There’s speculation that the film could be a sequel of sorts to Inception, and while I don’t expect that to be the case — outside of his Batman trilogy, Nolan has eschewed franchise fare, including sequels — I suppose anything is possible. You never know with Nolan, who’s coming off of 2017’s Dunkirk, which brought him his first Oscar nomination as a director and grossed $526 million worldwide, so the world (and Hollywood especially) is his oyster.

From Variety
Elizabeth Debicki and Robert Pattinson are on board to co-star with John David Washington in Christopher Nolan’s next movie, Variety has learned.

Nolan recently finished the script for the currently untitled film and Warner Bros. quickly dated it for July 17, 2020 — a slot the studio often reserves for the director, most recently with “Dunkirk.” Not only was that film a success at the box office, bringing in $526 million worldwide, but it also earned Nolan an Oscar nomination for director, his first in the category.

The project has become one of the more highly coveted ones in Hollywood, even though most of the industry has been kept in the dark about everything from casting to plot details. One insider described the pic as a massive action blockbuster, which will again be shown in Imax.

MOVIE NEWS: Robert Pattinson Joins David Michod's 'The King'

Looks like Rob will be joining his old friends from The Rover as The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline & more are reporting that he has joined the cast of David's The King.

Can't wait to see these 2 working together again.

From The Hollywood Reporter

Robert Pattinson, Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn and Lily-Rose Depp have joined Timothee Chalamet and Joel Edgerton in Netflix’s upcoming period drama, The King.

David Michod, the director behind Netflix’s War Machine as well as crime drama Animal Kingdom, is helming the production, which begins June 1 in the UK, and wrote the script with Edgerton.

Plan B is producing along with Liz Watts, who produced the Michod’s Animal Kingdom as well as The Rover. Edgerton and Michod are also producing.

According to Netflix, The King is based on Shakespeare’s Henry the IV and V, focusing on a young and disgraced prince Hal (a.k.a. the future King Henry the V) who “inherits the crown and must learn what it means to be a king, guided by his one true friend, Falstaff.”

Chalamet is playing Hal, while Edgerton is Falstaff.

Pattinson will play The Dauphin, who is a French duke; Mendelsohn will play King Henry IV; Depp will portray Princess Catherine, the daughter of the French king who marries Hal; and Harris will step into the shoes of William.

Tom Glynn-Carney (Dunkirk) and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie (Leave No Trace) are also in the movie.

From The Playlist
"You may not know the name Houda Benyamina, but you’re probably going to hear much more about her. The filmmaker made waves with her feature debut “Divines,” which won the Camera d’Or at Cannes, and was snapped up by none other than Netflix. The movie is now streaming on the service, and Hollywood has taken note, with the director landing an American agent, and it has allowed her to meet with some name brand actors about her next movie.

According to Les InRocks, James Franco and Robert Pattinson are among the actors that Benyamina has discussed her next project with. The untitled film is apparently a love story and costume drama set against the backdrop of war, but there’s no further details at the moment. It all seems pretty early on, and casting still down the line, but it speaks to the heat Benyamina has generated that she’s nabbing this kind of attention from Hollywood types."

An update on Idol's Eye

Oliver Assayas was in Argentina to attend the Festival of Mar Del Plata and was interviewed by La Nacion (The Nation).
"about to realize a long – delayed and costly project as Idol’s Eye (the story of a petty thief who steals a sapphire belonging to the Mafia boss of Chicago), which will feature Robert Pattinson, Rachel Weisz and Sylvester Stallone (replaces last time Robert De Niro).
It is assumed that the film will be next March, the actors are confirmed, but it was an enormous debt of that frustrated filming for which was all ready, so the budget went to the clouds, because more than I think the $ 25 million. In addition, because that cost and that mishap, we cannot film in Canada, so we must find new locations. I will only do it if, as it seems now, it will have basically French control. It no longer interests me to work in the current conditions of Hollywood with producer despots and delirious. The only good thing of this experience is to be able to shoot Stallone, Pattinson or Weisz. The best of Hollywood, no doubt, are its actors."
          (Thanks Flavia for the tip)

MOVIE NEWS: Sylvester Stallone Joins Robert Pattinson In Olivier Assayas’ ‘Idol’s Eye’

MOVIE NEWS: Sylvester Stallone Joins Robert Pattinson In Olivier Assayas’ ‘Idol’s Eye’

Great news, Idols Eye is back on with Sylvester Stallone taking on the role of Tony Accardo (originally being played by Robert DeNiro). Shooting is scheduled for February 2017 in Toronto.

More from The Film Stage below

Sylvester Stallone, the Rocky and Rambo actor, has joined Idol’s Eye, a crime drama that had been called off a few years ago, just moments before shooting was set to begin. Thankfully, it’s now back on and, for those that were looking forward to the original ensemble, the majority has also remained intact.

While Stallone will be taking the role previously meant for Robert De Niro (of Chicago mob boss Tony Accardo), Robert Pattinson and Rachel Weisz are still aboard, according to ScreenDaily. Budgeted at around $25 million, the film follows Pattinson’s character as a “petty thief who unknowingly steals a blue diamond from Accardo and sparks a war between the two men as they strive to stay ahead of the FBI.”

Shooting will still take place in Toronto, now aiming for a February start date, which means we could see this as early as next fall. Meanwhile, in other Stallone news, he was recently attached to a sequel to his 2013 prison drama Escape Plan.

Robert Pattinson's 'The Lost City Of Z' Will Have It's World Premiere At The New York Film Festival

Robert Pattinson's 'The Lost City Of Z' Will Have It's World Premiere At The New York Film Festival

Exciting new today, The Lost City of Z will have it's world premiere on Saturday October 15th as the closing film of the New York Film Festival.

 photo This is the best.gif

Read more about it below.......

From Filmlinc.org

The Lost City of Z, written and directed by James Gray (The Immigrant, Two Lovers), will close the 54th New York Film Festival. The film, based on journalist David Grann’s nonfiction book of the same name, will make its world premiere at the festival’s final gala screening on Saturday, October 15.

James Gray’s emotionally and visually resplendent epic tells the story of Lieutenant Colonel Percy Fawcett (a remarkable Charlie Hunnam), the British military-man-turned-explorer whose search for a lost city deep in the Amazon grows into an increasingly feverish, decades-long magnificent obsession that takes a toll on his reputation, his home life with his wife (Sienna Miller) and children, and his very existence. Gray and cinematographer Darius Khondji cast quite a spell, exquisitely pitched between rapture and dizzying terror. Also starring Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland, The Lost City of Z represents a form of epic storytelling that has all but vanished from the landscape of modern cinema, and a rare level of artistry.

“James Gray is one of the finest filmmakers we have,” said New York Film Festival Director and Selection Committee Chair Kent Jones. “Each of his movies is so beautifully wrought, visually and emotionally, but The Lost City of Z represents something new. It’s a true epic, spanning two continents and three decades, and it’s a genuine vision of the search for sublimity.”

“It’s truly a dream come true for me to have The Lost City of Z selected for the closing night of the New York Film Festival,” said Gray. “I couldn’t be more honored that the film’s world premiere will be in my hometown, a city I still love above all others.”

Gray’s previous film, 2014’s The Immigrant, was an official selection of the 51st New York Film Festival.

The Lost City of Z is produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Anthony Katagas, and Dale Armin Johnson, and is executive produced by Brad Pitt and Marc Butan.

Tickets for the 54th New York Film Festival will go on sale September 11.
