I loved this little mention from Evan Bird!

Excerpt from Indiewire:
Evan Bird: A lot of actors my age, they're doing it either to become famous or rich. It's not about that. It shouldn't be. When it is about that, you're not going to be successful. Most people that are succesful appreciate it for an artistic value. You need to enjoy it. You should have no other reason to do it. Of course you make good money, and that's because everyone loves movies. I mean look at Robert Pattinson. He's a really down to earth guy, but he's a huge star.
Huge star indeed.

Robert Pattinson makes Vulture's 100 Most Valuable Stars of 2013 list!

Robert Pattinson makes Vulture's 100 Most Valuable Stars of 2013 list!

I was conflicted with this list.

 photo CuteRob.gif

It's good that Rob is considered one of the most valuable stars out there but the write up was a backhanded compliment in many ways. It has its merits, however. I like that Rob was among the few young Hollywood actors included in the top 100 and that his career mapping with quality projects was rightly noted. Rob is 52 on the list, up 7 positions since last year and he's in great company if you look at the entire list.

Here's the Rob portion from Vulture:
52: Robert Pattinson - THE RECOVERING VAMPIRE - He’s gonna need more time to get past Twilight — assuming he ever can.
Nearly a year after the end of the Twilight franchise, Robert Pattinson could still use a little distance between himself and Edward Cullen. His close association with the vampire franchise is the most obvious answer to his very low likeability score; many men actively and disproportionately resent anyone associated with the franchise. He was a phenomenon with teenage girls and their mothers, but there were early signs that they wouldn’t follow him outside the vampire tale: Water for Elephants should have been in his love-affair-threatened-by-outside-forces wheelhouse, but it ground to a halt at a mediocre $58.7 million.
photo ScreenShot2013-10-22at103617PM.pngThe lesson Pattinson seemed to have taken away from this was that he had to get as far away from Twilight as possible by only doing small, counterintuitive films. It’s similar to the post-Potter path taken by Daniel Radcliffe, but the problem is that Pattison’s critic-bait movies haven’t appealed to critics: Neither Bel Ami nor David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis got much better Metacritic scores than the Twilight movies, which is a low watermark indeed. (Neither film cracked seven-digit domestic grosses, either.)
His fans are still mesmerized by him outside of movie theaters: Pattinson’s gossip value is at the top of the list, thanks to stubborn fascination with his relationship with Kristen Stewart. Studios give him a very middle-of-the-road 5.5, but his profile helps his small films get financing, and there are more on the way that aim to show him in new lights, including the Mad Max-like thriller The Rover from Animal Kingdom director David Michod. He’s also playing a limo driver/wannabe actor in Maps to the Stars, and Col. T.E. Lawrence in Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert. Enough of these quality projects could help wash away all talk of Team Edward, but it’s going to take something special, and a whole lot of time.
So there we have it....

Do you want to use the article as toilet paper or do you see where they were going?

Objective or too much Edward/Twilight hate?

Kick it to the curb or happy Rob is making the cut?

I have some very specific likes and dislikes but thought I'd toss it in the court of the DR and let it express itself. ;)

Sarah Gadon, Max Irons & Jake Abel, All Talking About Robert Pattinson

Sarah Gadon, Max Irons & Jake Abel, All Talking About Robert Pattinson

A little round-up of people talking about Rob.
First up, Sarah Gadon mentioned working with Rob in this months "In Style" magazine about how she "forgot" what a big star Rob is. I guess it's easily done where Rob is concerned ;-)

Here's the excerpt from the article where Rob is mentioned. Thanks so much to Darja for sending us the scans
Celebrity is a subject she is becoming more and more familiar with. Recounting a story about R-Pattz, she confesses, "There are those surreal moments when you think, 'Wow, I worked with that person!'"
The two appeared on a French talk show, and Sarah recalls, "It was nuts. There were so many fans. In my head I was thinking 'Oh yeah, I guess I forgot you're this massive movie star'."

VMan did a spread featuring Max Irons and Jake Abel and they were asked about becoming the next Robert Pattinson

Here are the excerpts with the Rob mentions:
With this films they both enter that small pool of actors that have a shot at becoming the next Pitt or Depp. But these days everyone is asking..... Can you become the next Robert Pattinson?

Max: “It is a very lazy comparison, because Twilight was a phenomenon unto itself. Pattinson was chased down the streets of Paris before the films even came out. And he is doing well for himself. He has about five films with acclaimed directors lined up.(Kate: Well done Max. You're paying attention!)

Jake: “A lot of people expect us to knock the Twilight cast. But Taylor Lautner is a really nice kid. Robert Pattinson, I couldn’t imagine the tremendous amount of pressure he was under — and he earned my respect when I saw him fight for certain projects. Water for Elephants is a great novel, the movie is what it was. That’s not his fault. That’s the risk; we’re the face of projects.” (Kate: It was exactly what you would expect from a great novel...... A great movie!)

Both name check highbrow directors and repeatedly mention how Twilight paved the way for Pattinson to work with David Cronenberg on "Cosmopolis"

Charming Robert Pattinson "could be one of the only true movie stars of our generation"

Charming Robert Pattinson "could be one of the only true movie stars of our generation"

Eonline had a nice write-up about the 5 Twilight Stars Most Likely To Succeed. After listing, Kristen Stewart, Anna Kendrick, Dakota Fanning and Ashley Greene, Rob was the only male on the list and they had awesome things to say about him:
The sole male who earned himself a superlative on this list, R.Pattz is going to be just fine, people. Heck, he very well could be one of the only true movie stars of our generation. Not only does he take smaller, more controversial roles to keep people interested, but he's just so dang charming that we can't imagine the public will ever get sick of him. Plus, now that he's landing big endorsement deals like Dior, we think it's only the beginning.
Couldn't agree more :)

【English translation】

"Edward, Stuffing His Face with a Lot of Chicken."

Robert Pattinson, who is awaiting the filming of "Breaking dawn", the series finale of Twilight, which is being shot this fall, has been told by the producers to build up even more muscle. Even though "eclipse", in contrast with "new moon", will not have any especially large-scale action scenes, why does Edward, played by Robert, need to now become more muscular?
Putting the reasons aside, Robert, having been ordered to build up muscle, has immediately put his mind to changing his eating habits to center around high protein food, in short, chicken. It seems that he has a preference for Peri-Peri chicken at the London chicken restaurant chain Nando's, which he goes to often.

Thanks to Clara for the scans and translation and Lisa for sending us the tip!
