Throwback Thursday With Robert Pattinson & Pierce Brosnan

Throwback Thursday With Robert Pattinson & Pierce Brosnan

I love all the great people that Rob works with and I may be a bit biased towards Pierce (and both his Irish feet ;p) but I just love to listen to the praise that he gives Rob!
I also love hearing the reasons Rob gives for being named Executive Producer on Remember Me. It's such a great movie and doesn't receive enough of recognition.
I think a Remember Me viewing is in order (grabs the pop corn and tissues).

And just because we can't get enough of white tee Remember Me Rob here's another oldie.

Robert Pattinson Glamour Magazine (UK) Interview

Robert Pattinson Glamour Magazine (UK) Interview

Q: What made you say yes to Remember Me; you are in the position to say yes or no to a director to choose which movie you want to be in or which movie you don't want to be in?
A: Kind of. You get certain offers and stuff, but with this, it was before Twilight came out, and I read the script and I wanted to do another job before Twilight came out. I didn't end up doing one, but that was one of the things I read. So with this, usually every single young guy who is a lead is often such a stock character. But Tyler wasn't really coming from an obvious place and wasn't ending up in an obvious place either, so it gave you much more to work with, and it could be more of a character piece. There are certain things about generic films where you have to do certain things and perform in a certain way, and it doesn't really make sense. I think that's why this is kind of a little bit weird in that respect, it doesn't really fit what you'd expect from this kind of drama.

Q: With Remember Me, were there certain aspects of the character you could empathize with? He's a guy who likes to do his own thing…
A: Yeah, in a lot of ways, I saw right from the beginning that he was quite similar to me, and I kind of tried to tailor it to be even more similar, but then the more I tailored it, the more it became a fictional creation. But yeah, I've been saying there's a kind of moment where, I think it's the end of the adolescent period, where you think that you have to be an individual so much and you want to stamp your identity on everything. I mean, you get to your early 20s and you are much more accepting of being part of the world, and not wanting to drive everything away from you all the time, and I kind of had that when I was in my early 20s.

Q: Would you ever stand up for yourself to the point where you are going to fight with authority, like the character?
A: I know, that's what one of the main things I liked about it; there are certain things which are like fantasy scenes of mine. It was quite satisfying, even the way he fights. It was all in the script, it said he fights like a pitbull, and I was just like, 'Yeah, I want to fight like a pitbull!'

Here's a clue

As we reach the half-way point of the year (where has the time gone?!) EF selects the top ten films of 2010 from January through to June. It’s been a surprising 6 months with some of the bigger, more anticipated blockbusters falling to the wayside as hidden gems rose to prominence. July through to December has a great selection of films to look forward to, kicking off this weekend with previews of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Other highlights include the Sylvester Stallone led all-star actioner The Expendables, Toy Story 3, The A-Team, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and of course Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

There is an elephant in the room, metaphorically. He is a most handsome, most famous, most perplexing elephant. His name is Robert Pattinson, a superstar among Twi-hards who follow his every breathless, bloodless moment in the Twilight series.

But “the room” is an American indie film called Remember Me, beautifully crafted with an air of thoughtful melancholy by director Allen Coulter. This is the story of a New York university student estranged from his wealthy father, in trouble with cops, and intrigued by the daughter of one detective who has already smashed his face in during an alley fight. The film just debuted on DVD following its modest theatrical run, timed to coincide with Friday’s release of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

In Remember Me, Pattinson gets to play a real human being in a romantic drama populated by other functioning humans. They are flawed, complex, interesting people played by Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, Lena Olin, wonderful child actress Ruby Jerins and Australian discovery Emile de Ravin as the object of Pattinson’s burning desire. No one drinks blood, although this saga is rife with tragedy.

IESB: What was your auditioning process like for this?

Tate: Initially, going in, I didn’t realize it was a studio picture and I didn’t even realize that Rob [Pattinson] was attached to it. Not too long before I had to go in, I realized, “Oh, wait a minute, this is a big deal. Oh, crap! Am I prepared for this?” But, I went in and the first audition went well, even though I had left my sides that day and I did everything I could to screw it up. I nearly ruined it completely, but it ended up going really well. But then, they said that they wanted to try to find a name, if they could, which made sense, so I put it out of my head and figured I’d never hear back.

And then, I got a call that they hadn’t found a guy yet, and they said they wanted to come back to New York and the director wanted to meet me. So, I went back in, very prepared this time, and I thought Allen [Coulter] just hated me. I thought that I was doing the worst audition ever. I was so embarrassed. I thought I had ruined my chance at this. I almost got up and apologized for wasting their time. Come to find out, they loved me and Allen thought I was wonderful and really wanted to push for me.

I went in, about a week after that, and met Rob [Pattinson] and he was great. He was so nice. You’re nervous about meeting big celebrities, but he was as nice as could be. The screen test went great. We had such a good time. And then, I found out that I was definitely in the running. But, nobody knows me, and this was a big movie and a big part, so it was a big risk. A week before shooting, I had a meeting with Allen and he said they still weren’t sure, but he just wanted to talk about how I would approach this. They were concerned that I wasn’t going to be able to push Rob enough. I was supposed to be the one always pushing him to do something, and they had to make sure I would be able to do that. And, I just ended up having this great conversation with Allen, telling him what I thought the character was and talking about my two friends. They’re just extreme extroverts who can do anything.

So, after that, Allen said he was sold and he was going to try to go sell it. And then, I got a call from Allen, either that night or a day later, telling me that I got the job. It was rough. I don’t think I ever fully expected it to happen, but once I found out, I was over the moon. And then, after that, I was immediately terrified. I was like, “Oh, god, now I’ve got the job, so I better not suck!”

Remember Me

Except for his roles in Harry Potter and Twilight movies, Robert Pattinson' s work is less known.
Remember Me will tell if young Brit can attract his fans as a mortal person.

From hero to ordinary guy

The role of emotionally confused young man suits him well. Twilight fans who are used to see him as a romantic virgin are going to be surprised.

Remember Me teaches us that love can save us. Do you believe in that power of love?

Definitely, people we love make us feel safe and supported. they help us find ourselves. Ally shows Tyler the right way to live. When she's around, everything is right. This works in
real life as well.

How do you manage to stay grounded around all the worship of your female fans?

It' simple. I'm scared of it so I freeze. No, I'm kidding. I can't take this enthusiasm for real.
Girls don't fall in love with me, they fall in love with the characters I play. I'm definitely not like Vampire Edward or Tyler.

In Remember Me drama you play an ordinary teenager for the first time. Is there a piece of Robert in this role?

At first I was excited not to play a romantic role, it's easier to improvise or follow your instinct. But I couldn't find any similarities between me and Tyler.

Do you consider yourself a slave of your success? Would you sometimes like to go back to the beginning of your career?

No way. I like my profession. The only thing I don't like is the lack of anonymity. In the movie there are scenes where I just walk the streets and don't think about anything. Sounds simple? It's not if there are 50 onlookers staring at you from 10 metres away and photographing, while you walk the street and the camera rolls.

Is it easier to meet pretty girls as a movie star opposed to an ordinary guy?

On the contrary, it's much more complicated to meet women who are really interested in you. You can't rely on people being honestly nice to you.

How do you decide whom to trust or not?

It's simple, if they call you the moment you give them your phone number, you can forget about it. People who use that circumstance aren't trustworthy.

On your first date, what do you say first?

Nothing at all. I wait until she says something. You should always listen first
and find out what she wants to hear before opening your mouth.

Belgium’s Le Journal RTL TVI Talk About "Eclipse, "Bel Ami", "Remember Me" & Robert Pattinson

There's a tiny bit where they talk to Rob
Thanks to Le Rpattz Club for translating

Let’s talk about cinema and the 1st images from Eclipse, a successful international saga.

In this new sequel , vampires and werewolves must unite their forces to protect Bella from a terrible menace. Edward, the vampire must cooperate unwillingly with Jacob, the werewolf. As for Bella, she doesn’t know anymore who she loves. Since 2008, when the first film was released, the Twilight stars can’t walk out as they want otherwise they can trigger off a riot. Robert Pattinson is the favourite target of the paparazzi. Outside shooting are becoming more and more painful. Robert is shooting a new film, Bel Ami , in Hungary. It’s a new romantic drama. Photographers disturb him relentlessly and between the star and the paparazzi, the war is on.

RP ”We had to redub all the dialogue for Remember Me we shot outside because we can only hear the clicking of their camera. They don’t respect anything so I don’t respect them either.”

But let’s come back to Twilight , the third installement , called HĂ©sitation, will be released on June and all the attention is drawn towards the fourth installement whose shooting should start in November. An installement which will be divided into 2films, shot one after the other but with distinct release dates.

Robert Pattinson Getting Last Laugh For 'Remember Me'

Robert Pattinson Getting Last Laugh For 'Remember Me'

From The Improper

Pretty boy “Twilight” star (Kate: Ok don't start with this pretty boy stuff or I'll have to get nasty) Robert Pattinson got a little roughed up by the film critics for his movie “Remember Me,” with Emilie de Ravin. But Rob may be getting the last laugh now that the box office numbers are rolling in. (Kate: Whoo hoo. Go Rob, Go Rob)

“Remember Me,” about a troubled youth attempting to deal with tragedy, is slowly working its way around the world, opening in such far flung country as Argentina and Australia.

So far, the film has grossed $45.7 million at the box office, which obviously isn’t anything close to 3-D blockbuster “Avatar’s” billion dollar plus take. But “Remember Me” only cost $16 million to bring to the big screen.

Experts predict the film could do as much as $60 million worldwide, when all is said and done. In relative terms, that makes it a box office success, (Kate: YAY) especially for a film that received lackluster reviews, mainly for the plot.

Rob felt a special connection to the film and felt it was something that had to be made. But the shear force of his popularity is probably driving the numbers.

Pattinson stars as Tyler Hawkins, who lives in posh Manhattan but is estranged from his successful father (Pierce Brosnan). Tyler is alienated and resentful, but he soon finds someone he can relate to. (Emilie de Ravin).

The film also includes Lena Olin, Ruby Jerins, Chris Cooper and Tate Ellington. “Remember Me” was directed by Allen Coulter from a screenplay by Will Fetters, and they are getting most of the bad press.

In its worldwide trek, the film opened in Argentina, France and other European countries this past weekend, and was a hit in Paris. It came in at No. 6 in the City of Light, which is not bad for an American film.

The drama’s international weekend take was $4.7 million at 2,302 screens in 36 territories, bringing its international box office to $27 million.

The film made back its money before even going overseas. So far it has grossed $18.7 million in North America, bringing the total to $45.7 million.

The film’s top foreign markets before last weekend’s openings were surprisingly Russia ($3.15m), Italy, ($2.35m), Germanyn ($1.9m), Brazil, ($1.71) the UK/Ireland ($1.5m) (Kate: Whoo hoo!!! Sorry :-}) and Australia ($1.21m).

Going foward, the film will open in several other countries, from Chile in South America to Turkey. (Kate: Yay Goz, you'll finally get to see it)

And it has yet to open in several top Asian markets, such as China, Japan, and South Korea.

All in all, not a bad showing for a small indie film, and Rob’s first outing as a lead in a movie outside of the “Twilight” series — and without Kristen Stewart.

Rob will be back in vampire form, in June when the latest “Twilight” installment “Eclipse” is released.
