Robert Pattinson Ranked in 'IndieWire's End Of Year Critics Poll' & More

Robert Pattinson Ranked in 'IndieWire's End Of Year Critics Poll' & More

UPDATE: More great praise from Indiewire for Rob below (Scroll down)

We posted a big batch of end of years lists featuring Rob and his movies the other day (if you missed the post, check it out HERE).
Here are a couple more that I'm sure you'll find interesting particularly the first one.

 photo rover_2-9229-800-600-100.jpg

Indiewire's End Of Year Critics poll has Rob is at No14 (out of 50) in their 'Best Male Supporting Performance' category for The Rover. What's really interesting is that you can see how the critics ranked him by clicking on the blue bar on beside his name on the right.

Guy Pearce also features on their poll in the Best Actor Category

And Maps To The Stars makes Clash Music's Top films of 2014 List.
Here's what they had to say about it:
'Hollywood: a land possessed by poisonous personalities; a place rammed wall-to-wall with bitterly over-indulged souls who have it all and still want more; a toxic environment in which glamour has been eroded by addiction and desperation. Or at least that’s how David Cronenberg’s caustic satire paints it.
The mass of personality defects on display throughout Maps To The Stars gives it the feel of slick soap opera amplified to sick extremities: its characters rejoice when the tragedy of others sparks a personal resurrection; pop pills like Polo mints; and treat their fans like parasitic carriers of disease. If this film so much as touches on reality, ol’ Dave has probably alienated the majority of his industry contacts.' Ben Hopkins

UPDATE:

Indiewire released their "21 Best Performances Of 2014" list and Guy Pearce's performance as Eric in The Rover has made it in at no 6 on their list. Rob doesn't make the list but he got an honourable mention ;)
"With apologies to Robert Pattinson (and his legion of fans) who is very, very good in this movie, and continues to prove and reinvent himself in each new role, Guy Pearce owns "The Rover."

Robert Pattinson's strong 2014 + The Rover and Maps To The Stars make more Best Of 2014 lists

Robert Pattinson's strong 2014 + The Rover and Maps To The Stars make more Best Of 2014 lists

More year end lists! And this batch are of the professional variety. Maps To The Stars and The Rover have popped up without much outside help. Just simply being great films keeps them on the minds of several folks. To get us in the mood, we'll start with this montage video of 2014 films that includes both of Rob's movies this year. Hint: MTTS is first, then The Rover.

Rob was recognized individually byAnn Thompson of Indiewire/Thompson on Hollywood:
Actors Who Had a Strong 2014...
Robert Pattinson (“The Rover” and “Maps to the Stars”)
Here's the latest Best Of lists that included either MTTS or The Rover:

Maps To The Stars

The Rover

IMDb (from managing editor): Top 10 of 2014
7. The Rover + review ("Robert Pattinson in a career redefining role")
The Playlist: The 20 Best Films of 2014
20. “The Rover”
If one takes “The Rover” on its own methodical, minimalist terms — an existentialist fable that burrows deep into the moralism of its corrupted, barren landscape — it’s hard to deny that writer/director David Michod’s sophomore effort wholly accomplishes what it sets out to do. Stripping away all narrative complexity to the point of abstraction, the character study really breathes, but in such a completely different way to Michod's triumphant last feature "Animal Kingdom," that after just two features and a few shorts, Michod has us convinced he's the real deal. Featuring a stunningly grizzled, grimy lead performance by Guy Pearce, easily one of our favorite working actors, and an impressive turn from Robert Pattinson who is growing as a performer with every film, it's a movie that pulsates beneath the surface and in the long silences between dialogue and outbursts of violence. And it’s starkly beautiful to look at and to listen to, eschewing revelations and plot twists to deliver its deceptively simple story through mood, tone and atmosphere.
The Playlist: Best Of 2014: The 15 Best Movie Soundtracks Of 2014
6. The Rover
You gotta hand it to Aussie David Michôd. After “Animal Kingdom” the world was his oyster and he spent months in Hollywood looking at scripts and potential projects. But for a second act Michôd decided to take a bold left turn with “The Rover,” a dissonant, minimalist two-hander that feels literally scorched by the sun. For his post-economic-collapse picture, Michôd decided to only employ post-apocalyptic modes through mood, atmosphere, and music. While there’s some score by Antony Partos utilized, the bulk of the movie’s simmering, sinister musical tendencies are discordant and cacophonous source music by experimental and ambient composers the director chose (all of it listed here). There’s seminal avant-garde musician William Basinski (who might be experiencing a minor renaissance since he was used in “The Comedy” in 2013), Chicago post-rockers Tortoise, and Montreal-based saxophonist and multireedist Colin Stetson—a touring member of Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre, and Bon Iver (he also wrote the underrated score for “Blue Caprice” along with Sarah Neufeld from Arcade Fire). “The Rover” is not the most inviting or forgiving movie, but that’s the point (and of course a chipper Keri Hilson song briefly breaks the mood in a moment that’s both comical and yet heartbreaking). It’s a bleak, nihilistic look at the strange and unlikely partnership between a deceptively complex simpleton (Robert Pattinson) and callous, nearly inhuman man (Guy Pearce) who will stop at nothing to retrieve all that he has lost. And Michôd’s soundtrack is equally cruel, heartless, and unrelenting—in the best way.

The Rover pops up in this year end video but blink and you'll miss it! Hint: It's not an obvious scene.

And as if this isn't good enough, Rob's 2015 movies are making lists already! Little White Lies included LIFE on their list of Top 50 Movies You Need To See In 2015:
We still shiver when recollecting the luscious monochrome of Corbijn’s Ian Curtis pic, Control. Interim efforts may not have packed so intense a punch but the legacy of his debut lives on. The Dutch photographer created the effect of characters moving through a world so textured that it seemed to have its own pulse. For Life — the story of a photographer and his relationship with James Dean, Dane DeHaan plays the original rebel without a cause opposite reformed heartthrob, Robert Pattinson. Let’s see what he makes of them. Did you know Anton Corbijn bought his first camera when he was 18.

Still Anticipating Robert Pattinson's Movies & Let's Get Ready To Rumble!

I wonder what it is that I love about all these anticipated movie lists that have been coming out lately?

 photo idk.gif

Could it have anything to do with all the Robert Pattinson films that have been featured on them?

 photo coolstuff.gif

Yeap it sure is! And this latest one The Film Stage's list of 80 Most Anticipated Films of 2014 features not one, not two but THREE of Rob's movies!

The Rover comes in at #14

After debuting the family crime drama Animal Kingdom back in 2010, it’s been a longer-than-expected wait for David Michôd‘s follow-up, but 2014 will finally bring it with The Rover. A likely bet for Cannes following its summer release, the existential western teams Guy Pearce, Robert Pattinson, Scoot McNairy and more, following a loner who tracks down the men responsible for stealing his car. If Michôd continues to display his knack for unbridled tension, this could prove to be one of Pattinson’s best performances.
 photo Thumbsup.gif

Queen of the Desert makes it in at #7:
Following years of irritating stop-start development, Werner Herzog is finally shooting his first feature since 2009’s Bad Lieutenant and My Son, My Son. Shifts on the casting front are only natural with such long progressions acting as a factor, and now the central spot of legendary cartographer Gertrude Bell has been filled by Nicole Kidman – she buoyed by the likes of Robert Pattinson, James Franco, and Damian Lewis — and the subject’s staggering impact on history gives the sort of thread this writer-director has proven himself deeply invested in for decades. (Fitzcarraldo being but one obvious reference point.) It might prove a perfect fit, and we can’t wait to see how Queen shapes up to his true classics
AND Maps To The Stars leads the way at #4:
David Cronenberg is working in a different register these days — more removed (quite literally, in terms of something as essential as camera distance), more clinical, more alien — so those hoping for Scanners and not Cosmopolis might need to rearrange most expectations. The wicked sense of humor, however, is as cutting as ever, and in coming off a perfectly tuned, pitch-black social satire, his take on the corrosive nature of Hollywood — which required his first shooting endeavor in the United States — should be a sight; consider the lineup — Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams, as well as a returning Robert Pattinson & Sarah Gadon — and it’s hard to imagine many films will incite more of a visceral thrill this year.
 photo thumbsupyeah.gif

Maps To The Stars is ALSO featured on  Ropes of Silicone's 40 Most Anticipated Movies of 2014 hitting their list at #17
Written by noted Los Angeles author Bruce Wagner ("Wild Palms"), David Cronenberg's latest apparently sets out to take a stab the celebrity-obsessed society of Los Angeles.

My interest here should be obvious, it's a Cronenberg film, need I say more?
I know you all remember 2012 when Cosmopolis took home the MTV Movie Brawl Award and you all know how much Rob loves prizes, right?

 photo tumblr_m8w6zddK5b1qdspdto1_500.gif

Well it's time to do this again! A24 know that Rob fans have this in hand.......

But we're a greedy bunch here and there's no such thing as too much Rob so we want The Rover AND Maps to The Stars in this so go vote for both.

Not really a surprise to us, right?

Rob looks surprised but he shouldn't

1. Robert Pattinson

(Last year No.1) The artist occasionally known as Edward Cullen hasn't put a foot wrong on the red carpet, wearing Gucci to his last three Twilight film premieres, as well as at the launch of a certain pachyderm based circus drama. Most impressively, he avoided a stake through the heart from the masses of boy-band fans by securing 27 per cent of the vote.

If you want to see who else made it in the top ten, check it out over at GQ.com
Thanks Sky for the tip

I know Rob can you believe it?
Don't worry you're No1 on all OUR lists (including my Christmas Wish List ;-} Well a girl can dream, right?)

No. 3 Robert Pattinson -For every $1 Pattinson is paid, his films earn an average of $39.43.

The Twilight star ranks lower than Kristen Stewart because he’s been busy. Only one of his Twilight films, Eclipse, qualifies for the list. The other films we looked at for Pattinson were Water for Elephants and Remember Me.

Robert flexed his acting muscles outside of the Twilight saga when he scored the role Water for Elephants. His charming smile is just one reason he's your favorite male celebrity of 2010.

The favorite beard competition was fierce and for a while, Robert was trailing Jake Gyllenhall, but the Twilight fans pulled through and crowned Pattinson king of the facial hair. (Whoo hoo)

Robert Pattinson is closing out the year BIG on Robsugar

You remember what we told you about Popsugar and Robert Pattinson? Well here's some more updates from Robsugar!

Robsugar didn't just give Rob one mention in this first list of 10. He got two! It makes perfect sense because the kisses Rob dished out in Eclipse and Remember Me had me howling at the moon like an animal. The kisses were HAWT and I needed to wear a bib to collect the uncontrollable drool.

Best Movie Kisses of 2010

"Bella & Edward, Eclipse Bella and Edward get particularly grope-y, as she tries to convince him to sleep with her. We definitely didn't see this much action in the first two Twilight films!" (Tink: I included my own photo of the Eclipse kiss that makes me rattle the cages. Seriously. This kiss does me in. The way he bend and dips and pushes and unravels into it. Gah Gah Gah.)

Photobucket

"Ally & Tyler, Remember Me Tyler gives Ally a morning-after kiss to remember him by (get it?)." (Tink: *pant pant pant* I can't even share my thoughts about how they shot this morning after kiss...his um...nevermind. I don't think the blog is rated NC-17).

Photobucket

Ok....I'd like to say we're moving on to some cooler territory but everything about Rob is hot and Robsugar is sticking with the kissing theme.

#6 out of 50 Hottest Celebrity Make-Out Pictures of 2010, Rob and Kristen set South America ablaze with their locked lips in Lapa. Those shots from Breaking Dawn filming make me think Robsugar will be repeating their praises of Rob and his lucious lips for 2011.

Photobucket

Another Rob mention from Robsugar is for Favorite Celebrity PDA.

Back in Land of the Lips, Lapa, "Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's onset smooches for Breaking Dawn were your pick for favourite celebrity PDA with a massive 85 per cent."

Photobucket

Our last look at Robsugar is a video of Popsugar Editors' Fave Celeb Encounters of 2010. Naturally, Rob is among the list. The editor who loved her Rob encounter found she had a good spot to see him when she crouched down at the Remember Me premiere. She says she was checking out his shoes and his carefully buttoned shirt..........uh huh. We know what's up, Robsugar!

Popsugar can't get enough of Robert Pattinson

I'm convinced. Popsugar needs to have Robsugar on their website. I know they admit to their affections for our charming, handsome, sweet sweet guy but trying to gather all the articles they've worked Rob in to has convinced me: they're totally ROBsessed.

We posted a couple of these when they first hit the webs but let's see just how over the moon Popsugar is for Robert Pattinson (and can we blame them? naaaah)

First up ALL the videos Rob appears in for Popsugar's Top, Best, Ultimate, Super, Mega, 2010 lists.

Rob singing for Songs From A Room nabbed #1 for Top Celebrity Singing Moments of the Year.

Rob and Kristen got the #1 spot in Popsugar's Biggest Celebrity Stories of 2010.

That wasn't the end of Rob on this top 10 countdown. The gorgeously grizzly beard gets some love in the #6 spot and his appearance during Hope For Haiti came in at #9.

Rob and Kristen hold a spot in Top 10 Celebrity Viral Video Moments from working on Breaking Dawn in Lapa, Brazil.

Robert is bothered at the #2 spot and Kimmel seems to think Rob's not handsome enough (pfft) in the #4 spot of Popsugar's Top 10 TV Moments.

Evidence of Popsugar's ROBsession continues after the cut.

Prince Harry has been crowned the king of cool in a list compiled by GQ magazine.

The 25-year old royal beat heartthrob Robert Pattinson to take the number one spot. (Kate: I'd like to have a little word with the people who compiled this list and ask them what the hell they were thinking.)

Also making the top ten were Dizzee Rascal, runner Usain Bolt and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders.

Prince William failed to make the list of 50 coolest men.

The magazine said the cut-off age for eligible men was 37 and a half and took into account an ''enviable sense of savoir faire, a talent for transforming the mundane into the extraordinary, or just a really edgy haircut''. (Kate: Rob should win for the hair alone then without even adding his savoir faire)

The youngest member of the elite club is 7-year-old Albert Cocker - son of former Pulp star Jarvis.

The list appears in the July issue of GQ.

Top ten 'coolest' men

1. Prince Harry
2. Robert Pattinson
3. Reggie Love (Aide to US President Barack Obama)
4. Dizzee Rascal
5. Jason Schwartzman (actor)
6. Usain Bolt
7. Ryan McGinley (photographer)
8. Dustin Lance Black (screenwriter)
9. Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys drummer)
10. Wells Tower (author)
