Robert Pattinson is one of the 100 most valuable stars of 2014

Robert Pattinson is one of the 100 most valuable stars of 2014

So Vulture complied their annual list of the 100 Most Valuable Stars of 2014.
Rob is on it. He's #91 out of 100.

I could get real bitchy about this but that's not being realistic. Rob isn't doing studio stuff right now. His franchise is a couple years behind him. Only indies are on his horizon. So maybe I should just be grateful he's even on the list??

 photo Disgruntled.gif

Exactly. I could argue against the data for a few actors that came before Rob but

I was conflicted with this list.

It's good that Rob is considered one of the most valuable stars out there but the write up was a backhanded compliment in many ways. It has its merits, however. I like that Rob was among the few young Hollywood actors included in the top 100 and that his career mapping with quality projects was rightly noted. Rob is 52 on the list, up 7 positions since last year and he's in great company if you look at the entire list.

Here's the Rob portion from Vulture:
52: Robert Pattinson - THE RECOVERING VAMPIRE - He’s gonna need more time to get past Twilight — assuming he ever can.
Nearly a year after the end of the Twilight franchise, Robert Pattinson could still use a little distance between himself and Edward Cullen. His close association with the vampire franchise is the most obvious answer to his very low likeability score; many men actively and disproportionately resent anyone associated with the franchise. He was a phenomenon with teenage girls and their mothers, but there were early signs that they wouldn’t follow him outside the vampire tale: Water for Elephants should have been in his love-affair-threatened-by-outside-forces wheelhouse, but it ground to a halt at a mediocre $58.7 million.
photo ScreenShot2013-10-22at103617PM.pngThe lesson Pattinson seemed to have taken away from this was that he had to get as far away from Twilight as possible by only doing small, counterintuitive films. It’s similar to the post-Potter path taken by Daniel Radcliffe, but the problem is that Pattison’s critic-bait movies haven’t appealed to critics: Neither Bel Ami nor David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis got much better Metacritic scores than the Twilight movies, which is a low watermark indeed. (Neither film cracked seven-digit domestic grosses, either.)
His fans are still mesmerized by him outside of movie theaters: Pattinson’s gossip value is at the top of the list, thanks to stubborn fascination with his relationship with Kristen Stewart. Studios give him a very middle-of-the-road 5.5, but his profile helps his small films get financing, and there are more on the way that aim to show him in new lights, including the Mad Max-like thriller The Rover from Animal Kingdom director David Michod. He’s also playing a limo driver/wannabe actor in Maps to the Stars, and Col. T.E. Lawrence in Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert. Enough of these quality projects could help wash away all talk of Team Edward, but it’s going to take something special, and a whole lot of time.
So there we have it....

Do you want to use the article as toilet paper or do you see where they were going?

 photo mouthscratchfrown.gif

Objective or too much Edward/Twilight hate?

Kick it to the curb or happy Rob is making the cut?

I have some very specific likes and dislikes but thought I'd toss it in the court of the DR and let it express itself. ;)

7th?

Clearly, the Empire ranking has been compromised. We won't storm their castle, just yet, because we're civilized. Rob would want us to relax.

The silver lining is we know how important 7 is.....
 photo SEVEN.gif

We'll hummmmmm for Rob because THE TRUTH IS OUT ABOUT THIS LIST RANKING....

Rob was also featured in this movie montage as well as his other films, Bel Ami and Breaking Dawn Part 2!

Rounding out some just-for-fun, kind of poll wins, Rob won Hollywood Crush's poll for:

  • Best On Screen Couple - Edward & Bella: No surprise here! In the final year of "The Twilight Saga"'s big-screen run, its leading lovers, the newlywed Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, dominated in this category.
  • Best Sex Scene - Bel Ami: Not even the "Twilight" fandom could outvote the National Society for the Appreciation of Robert Pattinson's Nude Upperbutt! Despite a nomination for his vampire bang-a-lang in "Breaking Dawn," his skin-tastic turn as a slutty social climber in "Bel Ami" edged out the top spot.

We have our own poll for these two categories coming up in a few hours so keep a look out!

Rob making year-end lists is nothing new but here are a few that stand out :)

Photo used for Elle UK list
  • GQ: Rob was number 20 out of 25 for the most stylish men of 2012. GQ had this to say - "Pattinson's year was spent crisscrossing the globe in promotion of three flicks, giving the actor plenty of opportunities to break out his preferred Gucci suits, which he did in rapid, colorful succession. But it's not just tonal suit and shirt pairings the now former vampire got right; his grunge 2.0 getups have us wondering how much flannel we'll see on the Fall '13 runways."
  • Forbes: Rob is 5th out of 10 top grossing actors of 2012, his films earning $793 million.
  • Elle UK: Rob came in number 3 for 2012 Men of the Year. They had this to say - "You don’t have to be a Twihard to fall for R-Patz. Brooding, mysterious, and just a little bit vulnerable."
  • InStyle UK: Tied with Prince Harry for 2012's most eligible bachelor. Rob was voted the most ideal groom. HA! Naturally. He's ideal at everything. ;)
Rob is still in the running for eOnline's Celeb of the Year and Leading Man of the Year seems to still be collecting votes. I don't understand eOnline other than them wanting to cause online riots and gather hits. Click HERE for Celeb of the Year Quarter finals and HERE for Leading Man.

Cosmopolis keeps making year-end lists too! We'll post the next round of them soon. Enjoy the holidays!

Robert Pattinson's Cosmopolis in the top 10 list for Best Films of 2012 by Sight & Sound!

PhotobucketCosmopolis already made a Best Of list for 2012 and now it's on another!
Indiewire/The Playlist reported about the addition of Cosmopolis on the Sight & Sound Best Of 2012 top 10 list:
Decided by a poll of around 100 critics, Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" has topped Sight & Sound's Best Of 2012. American cinema made a particularly strong showing, with Benh Zeitlin's "Beasts Of The Southern Wild" and Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" also making the grade. Leos Carax, Miguel Gomes and David Cronenberg continue to get international love as "Holy Motors," "Tabu" and "Cosmopolis" all find slots here, as they did on the Cahiers Du Cinema list. The lone UK film is "Berberian Sound Studio" which is a nice boost for the little thriller.
1. The Master (Paul Thomas Anderson, USA)
2. Tabu (Miguel Gomes, Portugal/Germany/France)
3. Amour (Michael Haneke, France/Germany/Austria)
4. Holy Motors (Leos Carax, France/Germany)

Robert Pattinson Loses Out On Top Spot On Popsugar's Top 100 List

Yes you read that right Robert Pattinson did not get No1 on Popsugars Top 100 list and and lost out to none other than Johnny Depp, you can't win em all right?

He did however get no1 on the Sexiest Celeb Men and No5 on the All-Time Fave Stars Lists.

Robert Pattinson slipped from the top spot to number two in the 2011 PopSugar 100! After coming in at number one for 2009 and 2010, Robert still has an amazingly devoted fan base who come out to vote for him in droves, no matter the contest. Robert scored his first big post-Twilight success this year with Water For Elephants, which costarred Reese Witherspoon. Robert also got back into character as Edward Cullen to film both Breaking Dawn movies, which come out in November of 2011 and 2012. Shooting the sexy honeymoon scenes gave us a peek at his hot shirtless body with a bikini-clad Kristen Stewart, and their offscreen romance is still hot as ever. He's currently working on another high-profile movie, David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, which will once again cement Robert's leading man status after the franchise that made him famous.
