A24 Buy The North American Rights To Claire Denis' ‘The Stars At Noon’ With Robert Pattinson & Margaret Qualley

A24 Buy The North American Rights To Claire Denis' ‘The Stars At Noon’ With Robert Pattinson & Margaret Qualley

Deadline exclusive revealed today on twitter that A24 had bought the rights to Claire's 'The Stars At Noon' and that Rob's co-star would be Margaret Qualley

From Deadline
In a competitive situation on the eve of the European Film Market, A24 has swooped on North American rights to one of the hot indie pics that has just dropped at the market.

In a low-seven-figure deal, the blue-chip buyer has swooped on Claire Denis’ next movie, love story/thriller The Stars at Noon, which has her High-Life collaborator Robert Pattinson and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood breakout Margaret Qualley attached.

Set in 1984 during the Nicaraguan Revolution, the film follows a mysterious English businessman and headstrong American journalist who strike up a passionate romance. They soon become embroiled in a dangerous labyrinth of lies and conspiracies and are forced to try and escape the country, with only each other to trust and rely on.

The project is based on the 1986 novel by acclaimed U.S. writer Denis Johnson. Filmmaker Denis is adapting the novel with Lea Mysius and Andrew Litvack. It sounds like prime territory for the director after movies such as White Material and Beau Travail.

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: 'Life' TV Spot With Robert Pattinson & Dane DeHaan In Theaters & On Demand 4th Dec

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: 'Life' TV Spot With Robert Pattinson & Dane DeHaan In Theaters & On Demand 4th Dec

image host

Today, thanks to Cinedigm, we're sharing an exclusive TV Spot for Life.  I'm so excited that those of you in the US will get to see it in select theaters, Digital HD and On Demand from Dec 4th. I know you're going to enjoy it as much as I did.
Here's a taster of what you have to look forward to.

Here's the official synopsis (even though I know you guys know exactly what's it's about):
"Dennis Stock (Robert Pattinson, The Twilight Saga, Cosmopolis, Maps to the Stars) was only 26 when he was commissioned to photograph James Dean (Dane DeHaan, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Place Beyond the Pines), Hollywood’s rebellious free spirit on the verge of superstardom, for LIFE Magazine in 1955. In the months leading up to the premiere of Dean’s infamous role in East of Eden and filming Rebel Without a Cause, Stock and Dean took a photographic journey across the United States, from Los Angeles to New York and finally to Dean’s childhood farmhouse in Indiana. And while Stock thought he was capturing a young actor in the instant before he became a household name, in fact he documented the last moments of intimacy and simplicity that James Dean ever knew. From the Academy Award®-winning producers of The King’s Speech and acclaimed director Anton Corbijn (Control, A Most Wanted Man, The American), LIFE is inspired by the true story of the friendship between Stock and Dean, a bond that would change both their lives and provide the world with some of the most iconic images of the age."

REVIEW

It shouldn’t be a surprise we loved the film. We’ve seen it numerous times and are participating in #RoverTenTimes as well. Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson do tremendous work with Eric and Rey and you find yourself wishing this was a mini-series. We wanted to the adventures to continue for this unlikely pair. The fireside chats alone are some of the best moments in the film. Eric’s cold, facts-of-life bluntness to Rey’s sincere musings and heartfelt struggles.

And when the men aren’t speaking, they hold you with their silence. We could never turn away from the pain bubbling beneath their surface. A particularly poignant stare-match coming at the end when Rey asks Eric what he’s doing. There is so much said between those two in that moment without so much as a peep from Eric.

The effect Rey has on Eric is the heart of this film. It’s their relationship that you find the humanity and soul of The Rover. The humor and the love. It’s there and you’ll see it if you let this film soak into your pores.

The film is frightening in a subtle way too. Not the obvious fright of violent people but an unnerving fright in the subtext. The criminals in the beginning that steal Eric’s car don’t look like stereotypical criminals. Archie, who actually steals the car, looks like he could have been a banker if he had a shower and put on a suit. These were normal people turning towards uglier sides of self when their security and means were threatened. “Grandma” looking every bit the grandma in her environment with her vintage tunes playing, seeming familiar until she opens her mouth to remind you these times are not familiar. The Rover world is scary because it feels completely possible.

Cinematography and sound are characters as well. The landscape is hauntingly beautiful and colors are drenched in light yet still evoke a dreariness, making you feel as alone and removed from life-as-we-know-it as the characters suggest. The musical cues are perfect and the score peaks, plucks and drones. Nothing you can really hum but have to just feel.

Much is said about the ‘Pretty Girl Rock’ scene but rather than looking at the meta humor of it, it feels bittersweet. By this point, you truly want to whisk Rey away from it all as he sits silently in the car after turning off the pop hit. We aren’t the only ones, as Eric is finding it harder and harder to keep his emotional distance.

We connected to the heart of The Rover and to wrap this up, we’ll quote another pop hit. The Rover is a fantastic film, brilliantly led by Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson, that strips away humanity yet still finds love in a hopeless place.

The film opens nationwide June 20th and needs your support. Click HERE to view theater listings.

An Exclusive "Water For Elephants" Clip Will Be Online Before Sunday's Red Carpet

Photobucket

An exclusive clip from the upcoming Reese Witherspoon-Robert Pattinson film will be available online before the red carpet begins Sunday.

20th Century Fox has teamed up with the makers of mobile app Color for Sunday's premiere of Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson's film Water for Elephants.

The photos and videos taken using the Color app by attendees at the New York premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre will be instantly shared to those in the immediate vicinity in a Water for Elephants premiere group (or "conversation"), which acts like an automatic feed.

Fox will also have one of the film's producers and some of the talent taking videos and pictures using the app as they make their way down the carpet.

Color, which launched in late March, is a free application for iPhone (and coming to Android and Windows 7) devices that allows people within 150 feet to capture and have real-time access to photos, videos and text. In one day, it was the second most popular social media application behind Facebook.

"With such a big following of Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon, people will be camping out just to get to the front of the barricades," Color co-founder Peter Pham tells THR, who likened the app to a "visual Twitter.” "It'll give you a really good sense of what it's like from the fan's perspective. It's not the high-def professional cameraman taking the photos perched in a specific spot."

While Color is exclusive to mobile devices, aggregated content from the premiere will be made available online for the first time at www.color.com/waterforelephants to further engagement. The website will launch with a never-before-seen clip from the film at 1 p.m. PT on Sunday.
