Robert Pattinson's 'The Lost City Of Z' Gets An April 21st 2017 US Release Date

Robert Pattinson's 'The Lost City Of Z' Gets An April 21st 2017 US Release Date

From The Hollywood Reporter:

Produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B, the Amazon Studios/Bleecker Street film makes its world premiere Saturday at the New York Film Festival, where it's the closing-night movie.

Amazon Studios and Bleecker Street have settled on a release date for the Charlie Hunnam starrer The Lost City of Z.

The film, directed by James Gray, will open in select theaters on April 21, 2017, and then expand. News of the release date comes on the eve of the movie's world premiere at the 2016 New York Film Festival, where it's the closing-night movie.

Amazon's original-movie division beat out other rivals in picking up rights to The Lost City of Z in September. It then partnered with Andrew Karpen's Bleecker Street on the movie's theatrical rollout. Amazon's Bob Berney will spearhead the marketing and distribution of The Lost City of Z alongside the Bleecker Street team.

The film, which also stars Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Sienna Miller and Angus Macfadyen, is produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B.

Set in 1925 and based on David Grann's best-selling book of the same name, the true-life drama centers on British explorer Col. Percival Fawcett (Hunnam), who disappeared while searching for a mysterious city in the Amazon. Gray penned the adapted script.

Sierra/Affinity is repping the film internationally.

Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner produced Lost City of Z via Plan B alongside Dale Armin Johnson and Anthony Katagas. Executive producers include Marc Butan and Mark Huffam.

Mark those calendars UK & Ireland  Screendaily announced today that The Childhood Of A Leader would be distributed by Metrodome Distribution In August.

"EXCLUSIVE: Metrodome strikes for Venice debut starring Berenice Bejo and Robert Pattinson.

Metrodome Distribution has acquired Brady Corbet’s mystery-drama The Childhood Of A Leader for all UK and Ireland rights from Protagonist Pictures.

Metrodome is due to release theatrically in August 2016.

The deal was negotiated between George Hamilton for Protagonist Pictures and Giles Edwards, head of acquisitions for Metrodome.

Written by actor-director Corbet (Simon Killer) and Mona Fastvold (The Sleepwalker), the Venice debut stars Berenice Bejo (The Artist), Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga), Stacy Martin (Nymphomaniac), Liam Cunningham (Game Of Thrones) and Yolande Moreau (Amelie).

Producers are Chris Coen (Funny Games), Ron Curtis, Antoine de Clermont-Tonnerre, Helena Danielsson and Istvan Major.

In The Childhood Of A Leader an American family settles into the French countryside at the end of the First World War, where the father (Liam Cunningham) is involved in the peace negotiations around the Treaty of Versailles. His wife (Bérénice Bejo) is a devout Christian who struggles with the tantrums of their defiant young son, whose wilful outbursts begin to demonstrate a monster in the making.

POLLS: Robert Pattinson's Maps To The Stars US distribution handled by Focus World; Expected in 2015

POLLS: Robert Pattinson's Maps To The Stars US distribution handled by Focus World; Expected in 2015

Well I'm disgruntled. Maps To The Stars had a distribution swap from eOne to Focus World and it feels like US Rob fans and Julianne Moore got the shaft.

 photo tumblr_nb2vdmmwef1s0aqxio1_250.gif

From Variety:
After winning the best actress award in Cannes for “Maps to the Stars,” Julianne Moore was considered a strong bet in this year’s Oscar race for her turn as a washed-up star in the David Cronenberg drama. But the overdue actress, who has been nominated for four Academy Awards without winning, could be sitting out of awards season.

In a deal that closed last week, Focus World picked up U.S. distribution rights to the Cronenberg drama from Canadian outfit Entertainment One (eOne), sources tell Variety exclusively. “Maps to the Stars” won’t premiere stateside until early 2015.

Focus World is the alternative distribution division of Focus Features, and it hasn’t been decided if the drama will be released on VOD, play in theaters domestically or some combination thereof. “Maps” could get an Oscar qualifying theatrical release at the end of 2014, so that it would at least be eligible for Academy Awards nominations, according to one individual with knowledge of the deal, but a movie with that kind of strategy can sometimes get lost in the slew of December contenders.

“Maps to the Stars” will screen this fall at the Toronto International and New York Film Festivals, which are traditionally launching pads for Oscar contenders. On Sept. 9, Moore is scheduled to appear at a cocktail event following a screening of the film at Toronto.

“Maps to the Stars” premiered at Cannes to mixed reviews, although Moore was singled out by critics as delivering one of the best performances of her career. The film is a dark deconstruction of celebrity culture and co-stars Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams, John Cusack and Robert Pattinson, who previously worked with Cronenberg on “Cosmopolis.” Bruce Wagner (“Wild Palms”) wrote the screenplay.

Co-financed by eOne and Prospero Pictures, “Maps to the Stars” was produced by Prospero’s Martin Katz, SBS Productions’ Saïd Ben Saïd and Michel Merkt. Sentient Entertainment’s Renee Tab and eOne’s Benedict Carver executive-produced the film.

EOne Films International handles worldwide rights to “Maps to the Stars,” and will directly distribute the film in Canada, the U.K., and Australia and New Zealand. The movie opens in Canada on Oct. 31, and will rollout to other regions of the world starting this year.

WME negotiated on behalf of eOne with Anjay Nagpal, SVP, and Gene Kang, VP of Business Affairs, representing Focus World.
Indiewire/Thompson On Hollywood also said this is bye bye to award season (excerpt):
Julianne Moore can kiss goodbye to any hopes she was nursing for an Oscar campaign for David Cronenberg's Cannes Best Actress winner "Maps to the Stars," which is set to play Toronto and New York festivals. Canadian distributor eOne was going to distribute the film stateside, but it has now sold U.S. rights not to Universal specialty distributor Focus Features--the arm that would handle an Oscar effort--but Focus World, their digital distribution arm, which plans an early 2015 release.

The entertaining satire of Hollywood boasts a strong cast including Cronenberg fave Rob Pattinson, who canoodles on screen with both an anxiety-ridden movie star (Moore) and the troubled daughter (Mia Wasikowska) of psychotherapist/coach to the stars (John Cusack) and his wife (Olivia Williams), who manages his son's career. Ordinarily you would expect this to have a strong theatrical release, but this kind of movie does well on VOD, with smaller marketing costs.
That's disappointing to say the least. I had hoped Julianne would get a push and we might ride that wave to OscarRob strutting his stuff in support. Oh well....
Onward and upward! Do you guys think we'll have some CannesRob4.0 next year? Where will Life and Queen of the Desert pop up?? Will Idol's Eye go for a run next fall??? How about we do some polling to see what we're all thinking.

Robert Pattinson's 'Maps To The Stars' Gets A May Release In France ~ Confirmed By French Distributor Le Pacte

French Website Allocine reported today that Robert Pattinson's Maps To The Stars would have a release day of May in France.

 photo Mapstothestars.jpg

From Allocine  (Thanks to Pattinson_AW for the translation)
Le Pacte has announced that "Maps to the Stars", the next feature film by David Cronenberg starring Robert Pattinson, John Cusack and Julianne Moore will hit our screens in May 2014.

As we announced in January a first editing of Maps To The Stars was ready and that the film had passed by the Committee of Film Classification in the United States, Le Pacte - the french distributor - just gave a release date for the next film by David Cronenberg, in May 2014.

No specific date has been given, but like his Cosmopolis in 2012, there is a good chance that the release will be made simultaneously in theaters and for its presentation at Cannes.

Led by Robert Pattinson, Julianne Moore and John Cusack, Maps To The Stars central theme is Hollywood, and more exactly the obsession with celebrity.

David Cronenberg has been selected 4 times in Cannes in Official Competition: Crash in 1996 and Spider in 2002, A History of Violence in 2005 and Cosmopolis in 2012.

Note that The Rover by David Michôd with Robert Pattinson has no realease date yet too and could be in competition for the Palme d'Or.

Double dose of Pattinson for the 67th Cannes Film Festival?
This was then confirmed to Pattinson_AW by  Le Pacte (the distributors in France)
