The ROBsessed/BagItTotes Scavenger Hunt is over and you guys are busy pulling together your answers to send to us. We'll post a recap for the questions later but in the meantime, we wanted to supply a "Rob is a giver" wallpaper that was requested during the ROBsessed Holiday Season and spread some awesome news from one of Rob's previous charities.

 photo GivingRob.png

Click HERE for the HQ "Rob is a giver" wallpaper
 photo CharityRob.png

The wallpaper features Rob from his participation with Stand Up 2 Cancer, an autographed guitar that was auctioned for the Dio Cancer Fund and the Home Plate Project.

If you guys recall, the artwork displayed in the wallpaper is Rob's original artwork titled Unfinished City. Rob drew this piece on a home plate for the Home Plate Project of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Click HERE to relive what the Power of Rob brought to this charitable auction.

Tim and Cory from the Home Plate Project reached out to us recently in hopes of contacting Rob to participate in the 2013 Home Plate Project. They said Rob's contribution was amazing:
"[Rob's] impact, heavily aided by the support you provided us, was amazing. His fan base is passionate, you care tremendously about his causes and it showed big time."
photo Happyclaps.gifTim and Cory told us Rob's involvement ended up generating over $12,000 for the charity and their team won the first year of the Give Back league volunteer competition! This honor was announced at their holiday party in December and the whole team reflected on the great experience they had from Rob's lending hand and his impactful fan base.

While I would have rather enjoyed writing them back and saying, "Why yes, Tim and Cory! I can help you. Let me cc Nick in this email and we'll set up a lunch with Rob to discuss his next one-of-a-kind, home plate masterpiece," I had to instead wipe away a sad tear and explain that my connection with Rob is merely in my dreams. *sigh*

The silver lining is we do have this blog and well...this....

 photo Ohyeah.gif

...so there's a slim chance we can help them out and get the message out there that Tim and Cory from the Home Plate Project of the Arizona Diamondbacks want you, Rob! Slim is better than nothing, right?

What do you guys think? Would you like to see Rob flex his Picasso muscles again and sketch another metropolis on the brink of completion? Maybe he'll finish the town with chimney'd roofs and plentiful greenery?

Fingers crossed and I can't wait for us to have another CharityRob post! If you'd like to contribute to a Rob charity in honor of his birthday, here are links for a few:

UPDATE: Page Mackinley from The Inquisitr talked to Tim over the phone and got some more info. Tim was quoted saying the following:
“Robert heard about us through his assistant Jeff [last name omitted by request.] Jeff grew up with Cory Parsons, a key member of the Home Plate Project team.” [along with Luis Calderon.]
“[He was] really excited to create something to help the project,” Emory says.
Bidding began on July 20 and finished midnight, August 31. In a phone call, Emory said early bids for Pattinson’s plate began at $ 150. But after Robsessed — a Robert Pattinson fan site — started publicizing the auction, that figure jumped to $ 1,500 within three hours. Then, things got crazy.
“Bids came in from all over,” says Emory. “There was a worldwide response due to Robert Pattinson’s participation. It’s really what got us all the attention and helped us raise all this money.”
“I’m humbled and excited by how much the [Arizona] community have embraced the project. They not only donated money and services, but their time,” he said. “The fact that a superstar like Robert Pattinson was willing to take the time to do a personal sketch is amazing,” says Emory.
“It took us from a good little project to something that raised over $ 50, 000.”
Asked if Pattinson was aware of the success of the fundraiser and how much his “Unfinished City” plate went for, Emory said the actor was told when the bid hit $ 3000 and that today his assistant texted Pattinson the final, stonker bid.
It's a great write up and ROBsessed is mentioned :) Click HERE to read it in its entirety! I got to say thanks to @lifeloveartfilm who contacted me the evening we first posted about the home plate. She asked me if I thought it was real and that led to me contacting Tim and the rest is history. Tim and Cory are awesome and I'm pretty sure I got Rob two more men to add to his super exclusive male fan base.

While we spearheaded this project within the fandom, pretty much all the major fansites that blog about Rob news posted the initial announcement and helped bring attention to this great cause. We're proud of Rob's talent and we're proud of his fandom that adores him.

Rob's Unfinished City was sold for $6,400!!!

In the home stretch is was CRAZY! Aside from doubling the weeks long stagnant bid of $3,000 in the final hours, the one-of-a-kind artwork went up by $2,000 in the final minutes!

Photobucket

Congratulations to the winner and we hope it's a devoted Rob fan. Either way, the artwork raised a nice amount of money for a worthy cause, Ozanam Manor, championed by the Home Plate Project - Arizona Diamondbacks' fundraising program (D-backs Give Back).

Click HERE if you missed any of the HQ pictures of Rob's art or the information behind his participation.

The clock is winding down on Rob's Unfinished City!

Photobucket

As you know, Rob donated his creation to the Home Plate Project - a special charity organization associated with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Participants were required to design a home plate that would be auctioned off for the charity, Ozanam Manor.

The Power of Rob has made his home plate creation - an original, pencil sketched drawing by Rob titled Unfinished City - become the highest bid plate at $3000!

Bidding ends August 31st at 11:59pm MST! There is a countdown clock posted on the site.

Click HERE to bid one last time! Or several times if you're trying to win the rare, one-of-a-kind artwork.

Tim and Cory from the Home Plate Project shared a little more info they found out about Rob and his participation:
I received some information back regarding the plate when I inquired about Rob’s inspiration for his design. While the inspiration is unknown, I figured I would still send this info. Nonetheless, most of which you already know.
We delivered the plate to L.A. after finding out Rob was excited to help us out and the charity we selected, Ozanam Manor. He apparently is a D-backs fan as they are his favorite baseball team. Not sure of his inspiration but was told he is just a natural artist.
There are more details about Rob's involvement HERE but I loved the last bit especially - he is just a natural artist. :')

Good luck to the bidders!

Something else that's awesome is the current bid: $3000! Click HERE if you got a credit card and know how to use it before Aug. 31st. ;)

The popularity of Rob's artwork is not too surprising for us but it's taken the Home Plate Project team by surprise and made them see Rob and his fans in a new light. It's exciting to see something Rob contributed his rarely shared artistic talent to making such a mark. Another fun thing has been the email conversations. I wanted to share a specific one.

Cory, from the HPP crew, emailed us a story that came in an hour after a reader, Denise, sent in the pictures of her night at a particularly special ballgame in Arizona. From Cory:
Quick story to share.  We had a family attend tonight's D-backs game and said they purchased tickets just so their daughter could see Rob's plate.  We decided not to initially display it since the bid is so high--more of a security issue than anything else.  So, we retrieved the plate and they came back in the 3rd inning.  The Mom asked if the daughter could hold it and take a photo.  We respectfully declined to have her hold it just in case it was dropped (or someone runs off with it), so one of our team members held it while the daughter got up as close as she could with pride.
The power of Rob led a family to buy tickets to our game so their daughter could lay eyes on one of his creations.  Not too shabby.
Enjoy your weekend...
The power of Rob :)

Hope the DR enjoys the weekend as well. Hope you're proud to be a Rob fan like Denise. And I hope you're excited for that awesome guy to own it on Monday and through the week as he promotes the US release for a film he's especially proud of.

Rob is a giver and this time, he's giving back to the Arizona Diamondbacks through their charity project, Home Plate Project. Click HERE if you missed our first post explaining the cause but here's a quick recap on Rob's involvement, along with a couple more details:
  • Rob's assistant, Jeff,  who knows one of the HPP team members, asked Rob to donate to the Home Plate Project and Rob was more than excited to do so.
  • The home plate was shipped to Rob and was then sent back about a month ago.
  • Rob created a one-of-a-kind, art piece, sketched in pencil and titled it Unfinished City.
  • The artwork is on a legitimate, wooden home plate that has been painted white.
  • Rob's plate is being displayed in Arizona with the CEO of the Diamondbacks, Derrick Hall's home plate donation
  • While bidding was at $150 less than 24 hours ago before the project was spread through the fandom, it is currently at $2525 and rising! Rob's plate is also currently the highest bid plate.
  • Click HERE to bid! Bidding ends Aug. 31st.
The Home Plate Project team sent over some better images of Rob's donation as well as the autographed photo that is included in the bid. They will see if they can gather more information about Rob's inspiration but they had this to say: "We're just thankful and grateful that he stepped up like he did and the finished product that you see is from his hands and vision."

We're grateful and thankful, too, that Rob has shared another side of his many talents and for a worthy cause, Ozanam Manor. :)

It was only a matter of time before RenaissanceRob shared his artistic side again on canvas...er....home plate.

Home Plate Project has an auction going on with several celebrities offering up their artwork on a home plate. Rob was one of those celebs and here's the awesome work!

Is your heart swelling yet? Wait...there's more!
I reached out to one of the organizers from Home Plate Project (@homeplateprojec) and Tim gave me more information about this awesome, one-of-a-kind, artpiece by Rob!
  • Rob drew the artwork by pencil on a real, wooden, home plate. The plate was painted white and you can see the smudge marks by Rob from the pencil.
  • Rob drew the artwork about 6 weeks ago.
  • Rob's assistant, Jeff, knows one of the team members and asked Rob to participate. Rob was excited to do so.
  • The home plate by Rob also comes with an autographed photo that Rob gave to help with legitimacy.
  • The home plate is currently being displayed at the Arizona Diamondbacks HQ alongside the Diamondbacks' CEO, Derrick Hall's home plate contribution. Tim said they wanted to display the plates that would get the most attention for the cause. :')
Tim is sending over more photos of Unfinished City as well as a close up of the autograph and the signed photo from Rob. He was a really sweet guy and said that he hoped the rare artwork from Rob would help their cause. Little did they know the power of Rob was about to be unleashed ;)

Want to know more about the Home Plate Project?
The D-backs Give Back League is a program designed for Arizona Diamondbacks employees to contribute toward the community. We are an independent co-worker coalition, acting beyond any scope of employment with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Home Plate Project is a fundraiser for local non-profits. The idea of the program is to get members of the Arizona community to decorate home plates that will be provided to them. The plates will then be put on-line here for auction. Participants are encouraged to decorate their plate any way they like that shows their personality, their company’s personality, mission, what they do or just any fun idea they choose. They may paint the plate, attach crafts, apply a photo or again; any way they want to creatively use the space. There is one rule; be creative!!!
For the first year, the Home Plate Project will benefit Ozanam Manor. Ozanam Manor is a local non-profit that helps people with transitional housing. They specialize in helping people over 50-years old who are homeless, or other people with a handicap due to illness or disease, regain their pride and get back on their feet. Many are U.S. Veterans. The money raised from this project will help renovate areas of their building, which was built in the 1930s, and other needs like a storage shed. Ozanam Manor has a success rate of 75% and they need more funding and volunteer help to continue their impressive success rate. Our team will be hands-on helping with projects or other ways like running a “Toiletry Drive” so residents have the things we take for granted each day. You can learn more about this impressive organization by clicking HERE.
Do you love Rob more or what??? Thank you, lifeloveartfilm, for the heads up on this awesome Rob news!
