MTV talks New Moon and Rob w/ Catherine Hardwick

We all love the on screen chemistry between Rob and K Stew. But if you have read New Moon you know that Edward however central to the story is absent for a good portion. Should Catherine Hardwick stay true to the book or try to include Edward as much as possible? That would mean more screen time for our boy Rob. Below is an excerpt from her most recent interview where she addresses the challenge of including a little more Edward. What do you think, stick to the book or stray from the story?

And the other challenge, as Twilighters know, is staying true to the novel while also figuring out how to get more screen time for breakout star Robert Pattinson. "When you look at the book, you wonder, 'How is this going to work?' That's one of the balancing acts that is being considered. It's definitely an issue, because we all love that chemistry between Rob and Kristen, but that's also what's great about 'New Moon' — [Edward] has to break himself away from [Bella], and the depression she gets into, the deep depression. That is the whole story, and you have to keep the integrity."

To get around the problem, Hardwicke conceded, she and Rosenberg may abandon the series concept of the story being seen through Bella's eyes. "That could be one of the ways," she said, contemplating scenes depicting Edward's journey without Bella. "Though, his story was a little bit depressing; it seems like he just sat down in a room and [moped]. But, you can always make that interesting."

  1. I thought that too when I heard that they were gonna do "New Moon" and as much as I would LOVE to see more of ROb I think they should remain true to the book :-}

Look at this I found this review of "Twilight" on You Tube and I have a pain in my tummy from laughing. I wondered the whole way through but finally found out near the end that he did actually like the movie!! LOL
I've been told that I talk fast (I think most irish people do) but this guy could take me on ANYDAY.
I've never seen him before but maybe some of you have!
    Enjoy!!

  2. Kate - I totally agree. It will be very interesting to see how Catherine decides to resolve the Edward issue in New Moon. Part of me really wants her to stay completely true to the story, since Edward's long absence is what drives the whole story line, and makes Bella's pain so much more palpable and believable. But the selfish part of me wants some more Rob screen time!!

I think the best way to do this is to put more emphasis on Bella's hallucinations... maybe make them longer and more life-like so that you can't tell they are hallucinations at first. I don't know. It will be interesting to see which route they decide to take.

  3. Ya that might be a solution or have her dreaming of him a lot ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  4. Yeah, good call. I bet they will have lots of Edward dreams, too. And those could get quite yummy, if you know what I mean :)

  5. Hmm, dunno.. I think they need to stick with the book, but also people need to understand Edward's mental state while away from Bella.

My real concern about New Moon are Jacob and the wolves. I don't believe Taylor will be a god Jacob in New Moon 'cause in NM Jacob looks like a tall man so they need to cast another guy! And the werewolves are supposed to be 7 foot tall werewolves, hope they can do something better than the crappy werewolf of Harry Potter 3 :D

    ReplyDelete
  6. Mich I am concerned as well for how the wolves will look. It is a big undertaking to make them look realistic without making them cheesy.

I personally want to see a little more Edward in the movie. Wether that means shortening Bella's "depression" phase and making the reunion more central to the movie and super climactic, or if that means making him actually appear during the "hearing voices" phase.

One way or another I think they will stray from the story to include more of Edward because Rob has caused such a frenzy among fans. He is what they want.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hi, Dani!
I am in agreement with you; Rob is suddenly in the spotlight (although he's always been there, with us) and in much more demand. The fans will want more of him.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hi DAni,
    I feel the same about Jacob, I was wondering what they were gonna do about that and I do agree that they will probably write in a LOT more of Edward because that's what the fans want :-}

    ReplyDelete
  9. NO!
For new moon to be succesful they have to make Edward's comeback something grand. If we know where he is and that he is suffering, the ending wouldn't make sense.

I agree with hearing his actual voice, but I wouldn't like him to appear when Bella hears him. :|

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hmmm...I hope they can throw a few snippets of Edward in there. I don't know if I can watch half of the movie with just Bella and Jacob. Reading the book was enough.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeah, Dana, I agree. I don't know if I can handle watching Bella and Jacob for 3/4 of the film! Ahhh! Just the thought of that makes my skin crawl.

But all the above comments are exactly why this is such an important issue - everyone feels differently about how much they should include Edward, and I think that the way they decide to resolve this issue will make or break the movie for lots of people.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think Edward's depression is as important as Bella's depression. I don't want Rob er, Edward, moping in the film. I'd like to see him deteriorating mentally by cracking and virtually going back to hunting humans without Bella in his life. We need to see his deterioration to understand why he asks the Vulturis to die.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The way I saw the book, was Bella doing the ultimate sacrifice for someone she loves even if she doesn't think the other person loves her back.

If we see Edward moping around, being depressed in Rio, then you kinda loose Bella's "sacrifice".

I agree with Dana and Lyla, I'm not going to be able to endure 3/4 of a movie with just Jacob and Bella, but I dunno.. I really wish they stick to the book on that.

I hope that they let Rob play Edward the way he wants him too, and from what I have gather in interviews, he likes the fact that he is gone for half of the movie.

I also think, that they have to develop E&B's relationship and the ones Bella&Cullen made before they make them go away. That was missing in Twilight.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Here's the deal. If there is more Rob, *we* see him. Bella is still screwed hence the story is intact. Cause Jacob is a huge freakin bore. YAWN.

And I dunno what Catherine is talking about. He's trying to track down Victoria for at least part of it. Not to mention he was obviously active in Italy.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Stella you make a good point they must develop the friendship between the Cullens and Bella because Bell is all sorts of comfortable over there in later books like lets just rock on over at the vampire house.

And when Alice returns it has to be a big deal to Bella that yay one of the Cullens is back for me, especially because Alice is Bells best friend.

I am worried how they are going to shove so much into the beginning of the movie. The Volturi has to be explained and then the relationship between B & E reconfirmed before he rips her to bits by leaving and then making sure the Cullens are represented.

CH has a big challenge with this movie.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Stella - So true. Those are very good points you make :) Particularly, the part about Bella's ultimate sacrifice and the part about developing E&B's relationship before Bella's birthday debacle. I agree that Twilight the movie was a little lacking in showing their relationship development, and I think that New Moon could really use more of that in the beginning of the movie.

Also, totally off topic, but I just wanted to say that Stella, I was so incredibly impressed and shocked when I first found out that English was your second language - your grammar and vocab are perfect! I really wish I was gifted in the languages department. I only know very basic Spanish, and I want to learn French SO BADLY, but in school language classes were always my hardest. Calculus and AP English, no problem. Spanish, well let's just say that it wasn't my strong point. Anyway, just wanted to give you a huge "thumbs up"!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm currently re-reading New Moon,And heck they have a lot of story to get in there. Personally I feel that Edward has to be gone for the viewer to feel Bella's loss.
Maybe there will be a comprimise and show a few additional scenes before the birthday party esp. to develop thier love story.

Some of the Jacob stuff in the middle can be tightened up a little and cut out. But that big reveal at the end is pretty cool. Hate to lessen it with seeing him throughout.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think Rob is absolutely right when he said in an interview that they shouldn't be sticking little bits of him throughout the film just for the sake of people wanting to see him. If the big scene in Italy is the first time we see him after he leaves at the beginning, that will be really cool. I think it will make it more meaningful. Plus, for people who haven't read the book, they are supposed to believe that Edward left and has no intention of coming back. That's sort of the point.

As far as the Jacob thing, nothing ruins a sequel for me quicker than making changes in the cast. I cannot stand it. Obviously, Taylor isn't going to grow a foot before New Moon and so I think that's something that people will just have to deal with being different than the book. I'm sure he'll be bulking up physically and maybe they could do some type of camera trick to make him look taller but I say just do it with what you have to work with. I actually really like Taylor as Jacob. Jacob is a huge part of New Moon so we may just need to get used to seeing him for most of the film. I want as much Rob as I can get but that's just not the case with New Moon. It would be cool if they followed the last few chapters of New Moon (from Italy on) exactly from the book and make it nice and long. The Volturi, the flight home, Bella waking up with Edward laying next to her, that kiss (my personal favorite), the vote, the confrontation with Jacob and Edward....all that stuff will be awesome. The middle can be condensed but I hope the end is as emotional and powerful as it is in the book and I think leaving Edward out of it (aside from Bella hearing his voice) until then is the way to do it. Just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Emily-- I agree with you. I have warmed up to Taylor as Jacob, even if I hate his media trained tush.

Lyla-- Thanks, I started studying since I was 6 years old, and well half my classes were in english so it kinda stuck. Now I want to conquer french! :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi Emily! You also have some really good points. Yes, I totally agree that they cannot change Taylor playing Jacob. It KILLS ME when sequels cast different actors - it just totally ruins it. And also, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Taylor as Jacob. He did a really good job, and Taylor's stock totally went up in my eyes. My problem is Jacob's character in general - his character in the books just made me want to gouge my eyes out. Probably because I loved E&B together so much, and having some other dude constantly trying to break them apart was beyond annoying to me.

Anyway, yes, the ending would be so much more dramatic and heartfelt if they don't keep sticking Edward in throughout. I think I have officially decided that I want them to stick to the book. But maybe shorten the Bella and Jacob portion, because it dragged on for a bit too long IMHO :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Let's see if we can get Rob signed up for French lessons, too. Oui, oui! Rob speaking anything, pig latin even, would be beyond sexy.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ahh, I'll admit it. I just want more Edward/Rob for my own viewing pleasure. It was hard to read New Moon and I suppose it should just be has hard to see it play out on the big screen. I agree with you ladies about not adding Edward scenes to create a bigger comeback. But I'll be honest with ya that i'll be counting the minutes til the comeback while watching the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'll just take a nap while Edward's gone :-)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi, Lyla! I agree about Jacob. I've never been one of the Jacob haters but he bugged me in Eclipse. Not so much in Twilight and New Moon because it seems like he's just a genuinely nice person trying to help Bella and he happens to fall in love with her. But in Eclipse, he needed to back off. Bella was only ever meant for Edward. I'm glad that Jacob ends up happy in Breaking Dawn though. He deserves it.
Yes, they could definitely shorten the Bella/Jacob parts. It would be a bit of a bore to see that played out in the movie for two hours. Let's just focus on getting to see Rob with his shirt off, in Italy. Hmm...Italy is so sexy anyway but with Rob there....those Italians better watch their zippers!
Let's also sign Rob up for Italian lessons, shall we?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree with you ladies! Esp. what you said Emily. I hate when they change actors in sequels. It's just weird for me and it makes me think of soap operas when they change actors lol.

CH has a LOT of challages with New Moon! Personally, the end of Twilight made the movie for me and NM's ending needs to be EPIC. As much as I want to see Rob... I hope they dont add a lot in the part when he is supposed to be away. I say build the romance, that was lacking in Twilight, in the beginning and for sure the relationship with the Cullens. Esp. Alice...

    -sarah

  26. Stella - that makes sense. Well regardless, it's impressive to me because I suck so bad at it! Learning French is seriously on my to-do list. I've been to France 3 times now, and every single time I leave I tell myself I am going to learn that beautiful language.

Emily, Rob speaking French = ear-gasm. Italian wouldn't hurt the ears, either :) You're right, those Italians better be wearing pants with industrial strength zippers when Rob is around. Otherwise, there are going to be a lot of pants-less people walking around those beautiful piazzas.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm conflicted on how much Edward should be in "New Moon".
I feel much the same as all of you, that they should stay true to the book...but no Rob???? Not sure if I could handle that, either.
    Can she dream about him?

As for Taylor as Jacob. I thought Taylor did a fine job as Jacob in "Twilight". He was perfect. But...is he in any way believable as someone who could make Bella, even for a second...wonder what her life with him would be like? There has to be realistic conflict...and Taylor is just a boy, standing in front of a man...hoping to steal his girl away. Doesn't work too well for me.
But then again...when it comes to Edward/Robert...who could possibly make anyone turn away from him?

    ReplyDelete
  28. LOL Lyla! I was just imagining filming in Italy. They'll have to shoot everything from the waist up because no one's pants are going to survive a shirtless Rob! And then when he gets all protective and braces Bella up against the wall with his body...I'm sorry but angry Edward is hot and Rob as angry, protective Edward is unbelieveable. Shoot, when does this movie come out?

    ReplyDelete
  29. "I was just imagining filming in Italy. They'll have to shoot everything from the waist up because no one's pants are going to survive a shirtless Rob!"

Holy moly! That was funny...and so true I'm not sure a theatre can handle that. Everyone wear really tight leather belts to the movie.

I have to disagree with a few of you here, while sometimes it does suck when they change the cast part way through the series. Jacob is my only complaint and I hold big reservations that he might suck entirely in NM. I will not hold my breath, but we will see is what I will say on that topic. But a change of cast would not have upset me.

Sarah I agree CH has soooooo many challenges in NM and the ending MUST BE EPIC!!! I tell you the Twilight ending although it was pretty much the same in the book was a big lag. And NM involves fighting and screaming and love and betrayal. I think it will reach a much broader audience and hopefully get the ball rolling for the next 2 if they decide to make BD at all.

I worry entirely too much for BD but I have said it before and since I just watched Pans Labyrinth and Hell Boy 2 the other day. Guillermo Del Toro would make a fantastic writer/director for NM. He is amazing visually and his writing and directing dynamic can take on the craziness in BD better than anyone else. My opinion of course.

  30. Completely off topic but I was reading that Sam Bradley, who wrote "Never Think" with Rob, will head to London for 10 days to visit old friends and to attend Twilight's U.K. premiere. Awe, Rob has very good friends! That makes me smile :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Lovely info, Mich...
It's good to know Rob will have lots of family and friends with him in London. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. LOL, Emily I know! During filming in Italy, shirtless Rob will make zippers explode and pants slide off. But shirtless, angry, holding-Bella-against-the-wall Rob will make zippers and pants explode off in shreds and then burst into flames. Seriously, when Rob plays angry Edward I just about lose it... in a good way.

  33. I love how everyone feels so strongly about it and I really think CH has her work cut out for her.
SM said that book 2 was more about Jacob in the first place and there are a lot of Team Jacob fansout there, I think condensing down the middle bit of the book is a really good idea. I do hope they stick closely to the book because even though I had said I didn't enjoy that book as much as the first it was only because I felt Bella's depression so much and I don't think it would work for me if they scattered bits of Rob throughout or if they didn't show it from Bella's POV, just me :-?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Aah that's really nice, thanks for that info Mich!
    How's the ankle doing??

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think Taylor was cute for Twilight but I cannot imagine him on a Harley outside the school acting like he's going to beat someone up :P Of course they can try to make Jacob look tall with camera effects, but give him a face of a grown man, nah..

But I like more and more the idea of TomStu playing Jane/Alec. You're right Stella, he's so pretty! And I vote for Ralph Fiennes to play Aro!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh Lyla, I know. Can you imagine what will happen to our clothes when Edward finally kisses Bella to prove that she's not dreaming? I LOVE that part in the book. I love golden-eyed Rob but in that part he's hungry (probably in more ways than one) and his eyes are black. So smoldering and so hot!

    ReplyDelete
  37. ARe you trying to get a repeat performance of what went on here last night Emily???LOL
You'll be getting us all hot and bothered, our imaginations will be in overdrive!!

  39. Good afternoon lovelies!
    Thanks for the photo Dani!
I agree Mich, I was driving today and thinking about how happy I am for him to be going home to his beloved London and see family and good friends again.
Maybe have some good home cooked meals of his favorites from his mum, some pub food, hang out and sing and jam with friends and stuff and just feed his soul

    ReplyDelete
  40. Kate--I'm feeling better 'cause the swelling is decreasing, today my feet looks more like a human feet, yesterday looked like an elephant feet, LMAO! Thanks for asking! How was the roast beef?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I agree with all of you about New Moon. I love CH so much her enthusasium for the saga and that she is not threatened by SM involvement in preproduction.
I like that she wants to make NM, better than Twilight. I thought it was a good article.
I think there is so much with the wolves and Rob's reemergence in the story would be so great if they stayed true to the book. It's only a two hour movie, he'll be on screen soon enough and then what will be there will be so terrific with Italy and the great kissing at the end like Emily said. He could be kissing her all over her face and staring at her. It's so worth the wait. It's like really, really, really good foreplay.;)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Glad you ankle is better Mich!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Mich - Ralph Fiennes would be unbelievable for Aro. I can totally see that - good call! I did hear that he didn't really enjoy working with a much younger cast when he was in Harry Potter though, so I wonder if he would be interested in a project like this. That would be really cool if they were able to cast some big name actors for all of the new additions to the cast in the next couple of films.

Emily - yeah, that is one of my favorite moments in the whole series, and is sure to be hot as hell!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well, I don't know about you ladies but it sure doesn't take much Rob to get me all hot and bothered anyway. That picture of him buying beer about did it and then Goz had to go and post the HQ versions of the Rolling Stone photos...what can I say? Who knew a mesh tank and a pack of Camels could do that to me?

    ReplyDelete
  45. That's good Mich!
The Roast Beef was lovely (sorry anyone that a veggie) but TBH it's the yorkshire puds that I LOVE!!

Popping off for a while to have a shower. A cold one after what Emily put in my head LOL
    Back in a while!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well, I'm sorta going through Rob withdrawal right now.
I guess in "New Moon"...the end justifies the means?
I can only imagine the feeling when Edward reappears in the movie...
Truly seeing and feeling it through Bellas eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  47. New Moon has to rely on the climactic reunion between Edward and Bella to work. You could have flashes of Edward's eyes, and hear his "voice" in Bella's head. But she spent a good part of that book squashing any memory she had of him. You could possibly start the anticipation with a shot of Edward's phone in his hand, see only the back of his head, and hear the phone call he has when Rosalie calls him to say Bella is dead. Next shot, in front of the Volturi, still you only see Edward from behind. You have to have the money shot when he steps out into the plaza.

    Just an idea....

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hey Jovie...big apologies for being so abrupt last night. I was in a right foul mood.... Thanks for wanting to play "Soul Man" for me...but I was pulling an Edward.

  49. "Edward's phone in his hand, see only the back of his head, and hear the phone call he has when Rosalie calls him to say Bella is dead."

    I so agree about NM.

  51. Just read this from NewKerela.com

    In their "Hollywood News" section

    A quote:

"Pattinson, who is currently dating his 18-year-old co-star Kristen Stewart beat 5,000 wannabes to land the role of the forever-young vampire.

The couple have even been described as "a young Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie".

  55. I feel bad that Rob was so uncomfortable wearing his contacts during the movie but the change between the gold and black was breathtaking. His eyes turn black with desires other than just thirst, you know. Cue the scene at the end of Eclipse in the meadow...

Were his eyes black in the movie when they were kissing on the bed? I've seen it twice but I think I was more focused on other parts of him during that part. Something about the dark eyes and his gorgeous eye lashes...

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yuck on that Rose.
He deserves someone so much better that will so appreciate him.
    Someone like Blake Lively.;)

  59. Emily, I hear ya on his eyelashes.
His eyelashes I can get transfixed on them alone.
His jawline, his eyes, his hair, his hands.
When I'm walking on the beach I let my mind drift to us walking on the beach holding hands. I'm holding hands with him and those long beautiful fingers that play the guitar and piano so beautifully are intertwined w/ mine.
I'm sorry. I try to rein it in but he's just so thought inspiring.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jules - Awesome idea. I love the extra scene that SM wrote about the phone call between Rosalie and Edward. It would be brilliant to include that. Sometimes the anticipation of something is just as exciting.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Kate, I was a theatre major. I tend to have a flair for the dramatic. I love to stage scenes in my head over and over again. I write the way Steph Meyer does (well a little, okay, a lot more NC17 than she does) by picturing everything as a play or movie.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah, glad you're back Jules.
That's the great thing about writing isn't it, creating a world, it changes the mood almost like music does.

    ReplyDelete
  63. They should do a poll of all the NM scenes the fans love that shouldn't be taken out of the story.LIke the poll they have on Access Hollywood of Rob and he is winning everything by a landslide.

  72. New Moon sets up many pivotal plot points leading into Eclipse. Just because right now we are not sure of Taylor Lautner, don't be so quick to judge. This kid is excited about playing this role. And granted, if he's not as tall as Jacob, so what? As long as he has the relationship that causes Bella to have the schism of having to choose between Edward and Jacob, then it will work. Physicality in an actor can either be harmful or a plus.

Rob was supposed to have a sixpack as Edward...did that happen? "i don't have a sixpack Bella...this is what I am!' LOL!

Taylor is young. That could work in his favor of tapping into the current teenage emotion is living through. Acting is a process. It takes dedication and hard work.

Rob does this in so many levels. Taylor, from what CH has said in recent interviews, is already working hard.

    ReplyDelete

  78. I actually hope Taylor can pull off the whole Jacob thing. He seems to have chemistry with Kristen, as well...although not as sexually steamy as what she has with Robert.
I'm not convinced he can convince ME...but who knows what he can bringn to the role...he does seem to have the body working in his favor...

    ReplyDelete
  79. Jules, did you read last nights comments that we got up to 500?
I mentioned Rob in my bathtub again.

  80. Jovie, the song that means the most to me is John Lennon's "Imagine".

Two weeks before he was shot and killed, I was actually camped outside the Dakota trying to get an autograph. I was in New York for a Drama trip. Got to see David Bowie perform the Elephant Man! Totally freaking AWESOME!

Anyway, the day I heard he died (the anniversary Dec. 8 is coming up), I cried and cried. John Lennon was a hero of mine.

He was talented, articulate, passionate. He was an old soul. Maybe that's why I'm so infatuated with Rob.

My eldest son's mobile over his crib played "Imagine".

    ReplyDelete
  81. I like Taylor's smile, I think he'll bring something to Jacob but the body stuff will be a challenge.
I like how Jacob was funny in the story and he can probably def do that well.

  82. I have imagined Rob in various stages of undress in various locations during various times of the day today. Just when I think I'm going to get him out of my head...Damn if Tom Stu doesn't show up!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Oh Jewels :(

I remember very clearly when John died...and being a lifelong Beatle fan...I have never gotten over it.
I cannot listen to Double Fantasy without crying...to this day.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I did have a hot lunch... thank you Jules.... and I mean thank YOU :-)

    ReplyDelete
  85. I hear you Jules, I LOVE Imagine, it was one of the first songs I loaded on my IPOD.
I cried like that also even though I was young, that and Princess Diana and Heath Ledger, those two deaths also affected me, I cried for Heath Ledger's family, especially his father when he said the grief was unbearable.
And Princess Diana hugging her boys on the balcony. I could tear up right now.

  86. Rose, I always listen to that album on Dec. 8.

    ReplyDelete
  87. You are so welcome Kathryn! I aims to please....

    ReplyDelete
  88. My father died the day before his 51st birthday, blond hair, blue eyed, still very handsome, didn't age and when you die so good looking, that imagine is always in your head of them.
Also, I forgot James Dean. He died close to where I live in California. James Dean's life is so interesting to me. I think I've read everything there is written about him.

    ReplyDelete
  89. James Dean was an amazing actor. Rob has the same potential. I see such a bright future for him. I'm so glad he's on his home soil. Maybe he opened a 40 and poured a little on the ground for all his homies.....

    ReplyDelete
  90. Jewels~ I also try to listen to John's music that day. 28 years. Unbelievable.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I mean image.
James Dean when the woman he loved married someone else and they photographed him on his motorcycle across the church.
    Kills me.

    ReplyDelete
  92. of what you said, not what I said

    ReplyDelete
  93. Thanks! I don't know why i thought of that. Some shit just slips through the cracks sometimes....

    ReplyDelete
  94. James Dean had this carnal, dangerous sexuality about him. But it was only part of what drove his performances. He was driven emotionally and when combine those two elements together....unbelievable pathos, humanity and life surfaces.

Rob is just tapping into that potential/

    ReplyDelete
  95. Don't be sorry, Jovie...I'm the one who feels sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  96. When I first saw Twilight though I couldn't get James Dean out of my head because when Rob first spoke as Edward his voice sounded so much like James Dean's

    ReplyDelete
  97. Oh Rose...I didn't mean to make you sad. What is sad is the poor tortured, schizophrenic soul who took his life. John Lennon lives on through his art. Mark David Chapman will forever be condemned in this life as a killer. That is sad.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I'm not sad about my father passing young.
It saved him a lot of hassle about getting old.
It's only hard for the ones left behind.
    I'm okay

    ReplyDelete
  99. Actually Jovie, I though he sounded more like a young Brando in "On the Waterfront".

    ReplyDelete
  100. James Dean's beating to his own drummer, I love that about him.
I read an article last night in the Daily Mirror about Rob
fixing his "Wonky chomps" and like the dutiful professional actor his teeth are perfect now.
I laughed after I said WTF?
Why don't they do their research. Lazy damn writers.

    ReplyDelete
  101. What perfect teeth? Granted they are beautiful, but he's got that one that just sticks out just a little in such a charming and disarming fashion....

    ReplyDelete
  102. Jewels...You didn't make me sad...really.
I love what you have to say.

Rob is a quick way of feeling happy!

And I agree, Jovie...such simple things these people miss. Frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I have been a bit fascinated about Steinbeck and James Dean.
One of my favortie James Dean lines is
"Festive isn't it?" in East of Eden.
He breaks my heart, his acting was just so pure.

    ReplyDelete
  104. They dared say our beloved soul man has "wonky chomps" WTF
    they said he fixed them
The Daily Mirror article was laughable.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Jovie, I hate that you can't get through to my e-mail! I would LOVE to read some of your stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  106. He was so DAMN hot in East of Eden!

    Loved him in "Giant" too.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Good afternoon, lovelies!

Wow, I am so impressed by everyone's take on the New Moon film. I actually will have to think about this more as my brain is absolutely fried right now.

    ReplyDelete
  108. if he ever fixes his bilateral incisor I'll be so disappointed.
There is also an article about plastic surgeons evaluating Rob's face to see if he has had plastic surgery. lmao
They came to the conclusion NO
They said Zac E. had his nose done.
They said Rob was aul naturale.
They said his nose was to the side and had a lot of bumps. Thank God

    ReplyDelete
  109. Rose! We are now set up on FB to chat! Thanks for sending the invite!

    ReplyDelete
  110. AGree he was DAMN HOT IN EAST OF EDEN!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Honey, Jov....You and I have very fertile imaginations...don't you just know that we probably already know every inch of that man's body?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Rebel without a cause, Giant, East of Eden. shaking my head.
The work that would of been ahead for him, except for a freaking left turn and driving too fast

    ReplyDelete
  113. Jules---I love all your James Dean comments.

While, Jim Stark is by far my favorite James Dean character. I had it bad for Cal Trask in East of Eden. Jett Rink scared me to death!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Hello Lynn!

Jewels~ YaY! Thanks for adding me!

    ReplyDelete
  115. when he played toby and he's in the bathtub, gawd, i loved that.
that one vid where they put in an excerpt on you tube.
i love his toes and long legs and it's in a bathtub so you know how i love that

    ReplyDelete
  116. Hello Lynn my darling lovely superlinguistic hot momma! Apologies to you as well for my Edward like behaviour last night....

    ReplyDelete
  117. the woman bathing him with her dark skin and his very white skin in contrast,

    ReplyDelete
  118. Jovie...I have dreams about doing that to him....

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hi Lynn, yeah Cal has my heart to this day.
That performance as Cal, just tears me up

    ReplyDelete
  120. I've gone to all the film spots by where I live

    ReplyDelete
  121. Jules---no worries! I have my Sybil moments continuely. Dh came upon some of your writing and I will be opening another email account in your honor!

    ReplyDelete
  122. I hear ya Jules, and you already know my bathtub fantasizes with him.
Like I said last night. He's in my bathtub with his hair wet, and dipped in the water so his hair is all the way back, with stubble on that incredible jawline and he has his eyes closed and then he opens them with those blue eyes and then smiles and kisses me

    ReplyDelete
  123. Does it come with a brown paper wrapper and a non de plume?

    ReplyDelete
  124. Jules and Jov---I hear ya on the Toby Jugg bath scene....you felt bad for him but envied the nurse!

    ReplyDelete
  125. Jovie...I have so got to send you some of my fan fiction!

    ReplyDelete
  126. candles, his face lit by candlelight, and his damn sexy smile.
the song playing is amazing also.
That fantasy enough is enough for me but I have so much more
    I'm trying to control it

    ReplyDelete
  127. I would have fancied a sponge bath scene!

    ReplyDelete
  128. Girl...I don't control it when I write...I let it rip!

    ReplyDelete
  129. Jules, dammit, I want to read some of you writing!

    ReplyDelete
  130. Lynn... I haven't gotten there yet...wait for it.....it's coming (along with other things!)

    ReplyDelete
  131. Jules when you have imaginations like ours it can get out of control though....lmao

    ReplyDelete
  132. the other day with my date i said rob instead of the guys name, yikes

    ReplyDelete
  133. he stared at me and let it go

    ReplyDelete
  134. Yeah Jov, I almost did the same thing. Except the only thing that stopped me is my sweetness looks like Kellan Lutz. At least I can cover up Kellan with "Killin me!"

    ReplyDelete
  135. he was such a polar opposite of Rob,
a cute surfer guy, surfers are always clean, because the surf so their nails are clean and he doesn't rec read like Rob,
he just didn't have the depth like soul man, he's a good looking guy but i need a reader

    ReplyDelete
  136. I had like the total death attraction to surfers and skate punks when I was younger. I dated a guy who designed surf boards, worked as a graphic artist for an advertising co. here in Houston, and went thrashing through downtown garages on his skateboard in the middle of the night.

Graphic artists fascinate me. I wrote a story with my friend Mark who shares Rob's Birthday. He illustrated my written story and we sent it to Heavy Metal magazine!

    ReplyDelete
  137. It didn't get published. But flash forward some 20 something years and my friend Mark is a successful animator, author etc. He has worked in Hollywood and has his own animation company that did some of the first animation work for Disney outside of Disney itself.

Imagine my surprise when he contacted me saying he found our story and wanted to re-work it and make it himself...I gotta do it Jov!

    ReplyDelete
  138. jules, always believe in yourself because we'll doubt it will be successful and then look someone loves it.
    Look what happened to Twilight..

    ReplyDelete
  139. I love SM's quote "I wish I would of believed in myself sooner"

    ReplyDelete
  140. Jules---I grew up in the hub of street skate culture (I went to school with two of the original owners of DC Shoes), so, I had the attraction to skaters and surfers. But, I wound up married to a Mid-West boy, so, who would have thought that!

    In my case, opposites attract!

    ReplyDelete
  141. How funny Lynn! I married a boy from Indiana. But he was a rebel, and a punk. Why, (slapping myself on the forehead now!) think that was attractive in my later 30's?

  148. Oh GOD! I HOPE they don't just throw random Edward scenes in throughout the movie. That would just be horrible.

One or two "meanwhile, back at the Ranch, Edward is moping" scenes are OK, But nothing more. The relationship that develops between B & J is poignant.

    this is just my take.
