BB, all I can say is that I (and every other woman with a pulse @ the theater) was having a unicornius grand time. He is so HILARIOUS as Art. It was one of the quirkiest movies I've ever seen, and I LOVED it! My mom enjoyed it, she was laughing a lot, mostly at how pathetic he is...made me want to jump through the screen and fu...hug him. {{wink}} She enjoyed this more than Adventureland, tell you that much. But it was funny, cause my mom is definitely not a Robsessor, but she is a supporter. lol 20 minutes into it my mom whispers, "he doesn't look that good in this one." I had to shhhhh her cause even a whisper was loud...being that every person (maybe 3-5 dudes, half being dragged there by DW)was mature and respectful. The entire audience was in hysterics. Oliver and the rest of the cast did an amazing job. They were there and graciously answered the few questions that were asked. One young girl, accompanied by friends and family asked Oliver, "What was it like working with Rob?" In which everyone groaned, he was like "uhhhh, I'm not sure how to answer that...in which way do you mean?" than she was like as a person and as an actor. In which he answered "I'll give you a typical Brit answer, he's a jolly good bloke!" Everyone was rolling. Oliver said most of the cast had worked together before and known each other for ages, so Rob being a newcomer would naturally be a little intimidating, but they said it wasn't so. "He fit right in with our bunch." He said Rob's humor was a perfect fit for the cast and crew.
The dudes that play Nikki and Ronny are comedic geniuses. Johnny White and Mike Pearce are naturally very funny, shy and pretty darn hot, even Oliver is attrative. I definitely dig London men.
They all turned bright red, including Oliver. They were so adorable!!! I took some vid with my cell and a couple pics. Not great footage, but something for my memory banks. All in all a jolly good 'ole time! Can't wait till LA!!!!
I'm so sad they're not releasing it in cinemas in the UK. Boo :( I'm hearing raving good reviews left and right and yet I still have to wait for the DVD. Pure torture, it is.
Divine - I completely agree re: the comedic genius of the guys who play Nikki and Ronny. Razor-sharp wit. I was so impressed with them when I saw the screening on Wednesday.
Divine aka Pupida~ what a great time! The director and cast seem like Rob's type of guys. LOL that your mom wasn't too impressed with how Rob looked. She couldn't see past the hair?? It was cool to hear your thoughts. I can't wait to see it. Sounds sooooo like my type of movie. crazy=quirky too.

Divine, I so wanted to ask those guys to go to the pub next door to the theatre for a beer! But there was no good opportunity and I couldn't think of a way to seem genuine about it (i'm sure they're scared off continuously by the Rob-stalkery!). My friend and I both agreed that just having a few pints with those guys and being able to pick their brains would have made for one helluva excellent, memorable evening. And it would have had absolutely nothing to do with Rob.

And it was 3AM by then, and I was tired, sober, and hungry. So we left. That subway ride was long as all hell. lol.

Rob has said he's never actually used his own accent in any film yet, and I wondered why he'd chosen a mid-Atlantic one for HTB. Duh. Then Oliver pointed out the last-minute casting of his mom, who's American. That Rob - prepared for anything.
Yvonne~ the most freakingly awesomeiest shizz, like ever. Rob as a sensitive, "sad-sacked," unloved young man, really made me just love his ROBliciousness even more.
DS, he does funny things to me too. I knew this movie would be outstanding. Proves, once again, that our Rob is THE SHIT. Making wise choices (makes a momma proud) and will continue to shine bright long after the Twilight Saga is over, yay for us.
DS, love your review! :} I was there too! I arrived around 11:15 and the line was about 50 women ( & the occasional boyfriend) long. By 11:45 the line was an entire block long. LOL Loved the film, loved the characters, loved Rob! I don't remember much of the Q&A because by 1:30, my eyelids were fighting to stay open. LOL But, I'll add one more thing: During the Q&A, Oliver advised us to pause our dvd during close-up shots of Dr. Ellington's book, "It's Not Your Fault", and actually read a couple of the paragraphs. He said we would have a good laugh because they had a fun time making up parts of the book, and some of what was written was jibberish. So, ladies..pause those dvds. :}

Anyone ever wonder how Rob landed that part in the first place? Not only does he not look 17, he doesn't even look 22. I've always thought at the end of Twi - the prom scene, he looks 25 at least.
M~I remember that, he said that if you continue reading the chapter pages they would read "blah blah blah" lol. I didn't notice, so when I get my DVD, I'll definitely pause. The line was very, very long, I was smacked dab in the middle, mom and I arrived at like 11:25, and @ 11:45 the line had doubled. IFC handled everything well. But it's also cause everyone was very mature and well behaved, no annoying fans, that I noticed.

DS, love your review! :} I was there too! I arrived around 11:15 and the line was about 50 women ( & the occasional boyfriend) long. By 11:45 the line was an entire block long. LOL Loved the film, loved the characters, loved Rob! I don't remember much of the Q&A because by 1:30, my eyelids were fighting to stay open. LOL But, I'll add one more thing: During the Q&A, Oliver advised us to pause our dvd during close-up shots of Dr. Ellington's book, "It's Not Your Fault", and actually read a couple of the paragraphs. He said we would have a good laugh because they had a fun time making up parts of the book, and some of what was written was jibberish. So, ladies..pause those dvds. :}

ReplyDeleteM~I remember that, he said that if you continue reading the chapter pages they would read "blah blah blah" lol. I didn't notice, so when I get my DVD, I'll definitely pause. The line was very, very long, I was smacked dab in the middle, mom and I arrived at like 11:25, and @ 11:45 the line had doubled. IFC handled everything well. But it's also cause everyone was very mature and well behaved, no annoying fans, that I noticed.
