According to The Twilight Examiner, Amanda Bell, the following song was co-written by Sam Bradley and Robert Pattinson! She penned a fan's experience at Sam's L.A. shows, you can read all about it at her page here.
I love it too and was trying to figure out the lyrics. I think showme is right? Obviously something about parents and sisters and a man (the father?) thinking of leaving? I'll have to listen to it again!
Before he started the song, he mentions that it is a true story. I don't know whether it is based on his own experiences, but he does include his mother in a lot of things (including shows), so I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the song is about his own childhood.
There is actually zero indication that Rob had anything to do with this song. I think Amanda Bell is pulling this one out of her arse.
It was a very nice song (as 99% of his are - there is one song I don't like (PARADISE) - it sounds like an 80s hairband ballad, IMO). The first song is available here (for now): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjkw6X4PdKs
Got the pleasure of seeing this and his other Hotel Cafe show. This was one of my Favorites from that night. He is such a sweetheart meeting people for an hour afterwards.
