Well, the show is supposed to be funny and informative, but it's not even funny ;_; the meteo girl is always suppositely funny but really lame. The content was terrible, I guess it confirms why I don't watch the show!

I love his look after he sits back down after so graciously granting a peck on the cheek to the blonde interviewer (why do they ask stupid things like that?)... If I could have a screensaver of that sexy look, with his blushing from head to chest....he's the devil, I swear, tempting me so....who am I kidding - I love it and I'm going to hell...happily!
I just watched it on tv. I really loved him in this interview even though he didn't talk much and we didn't learn anything new. But he really came out as nice, unaffected, charming, really shy and down to earth. Loved the blushing ;)
I guess he made a strong impression on the interviewer who said something like even though he's young and has lots of screaming fans around him, he seems like he's dealing with it very well and it totally deserves some respect too.
Please, relax, Le Grand Journal is not a totally serious show and shouldn't be taken at face value, there is a bit more serious talk as well as fun/weird/humorous interventions. The girl with the fangs was doing it in thtat purpose. Especially as he was there as the international star from twilight as they said. So I'm sure he did know he was there for that and not for any other project. He looked quite surpised in a good way that someone started asking about Little Ashes.
And I have to disagree about translating once he's done talking. I've seen that in a few countries and it makes watching the show more boring with lots of long pauses where you don't understand what is said. Don't forget it's a French show watched by French people and I'll admit we are not very good at English over here and nothing ever airs on tv in English ;)
And of course, Robert looked really good!!!

Yeah, I had not seen it that way since I was hoping for more interesting questions, but I guess he comes out of such an interview with a more positive light because of his general attitude.
But while I don't really want to see him at Laurent ruquier (because the 2 other guys are often quite mean), at least they have longer interviews (at least 10 min?) which usually stay on topic of the guest. It would be nice to see something like that with him.
I’ve just watched Le Grand Journal interview. I can’t believe they made it so boring : uninteresting questions, no questions about his other projects, or about Remember Me which he had come to present at Cannes. An appallingly stupid woman reporter - Ariane Masnet - put on plastic fangs and asked him to kiss her (she had previously made Cantona - who was also interviewed with Ken Loach for their new film - play the trumpet and Cantona was almost angry with her). She had not checked her facts and also asked Rob “oh you’re soon going to play Dali, aren’t you”… The film is already out ! Evee the questions they asked from Ken Loach were also appalling (oh so you only make depressing films don’t you Mr Loach) …Bad journalism, badly educated people, and poor Rob having to endure them. But Cantona was really nice to him and it’s too bad he could not talk to Loach. On the whole, a very bad program and a waste of time for him. I wonder if British or American TV programs are just as bad as this one?

yes I do think that in that aspect this interview was positive for him and made his personality clearer for the general audience. It always makes a good impression on people when a celeb, especially one who is adulated by millions of fans, stay true, simple and nice. Even Denisot and Cantona acknowledged this. And who wouldn't go awww when they see a celeb being quite shy. I went and watched Le Grand Journal at my mom's (since Canal+ doesn't work at home) and even she was smiling fondly when she said 'oh he looks shy' ;) And he looked quite shy but not awkward, he seemed relaxed.
I agree with you, I don't know how it would turn out if Robert was going at Ruquier's show but I guess the more Robert the better, right ;)

I believe Rob is grateful for the attention and fame "Twilight" has given him. This fame will allow him to do pursue the roles he likes with the added bonus of making a great deal of money. At his age I'm sure he's used to not being taken seriously and will rise to the challenge to prove himself.
He's always more confident with Stephanie Ritz at his side leading the way. I think Rob is lucky to have an agent who is so dedicated. I wonder if his manager, Nick will make an appearance soon?

Frédéric Beigbeder obviously thought he was being smart as he was putting down Twilight, I understood the same thing I guess.
But he is a reknown writer (whose book I have never read so I can't really say if good or bad...), he seems also a bit stuck up, but I guess he is more used to art house movies.
I would simply say it showed he doesn't know how to be polite because his comment did not fool anybody, nor was it funny. But I'm pretty sure Twilight (and Rob's sudden fame) is everything FB despises, so he probaly feels like he barely said anything.
There are enough reasons to complain for their empty interviews (in general), I would more complain about the global quality of the show than just FB (who was lame).
Plus he probably would feel that the complains come from brainless women and hormanal teenagers instead of realising he should go work for Ruquier if he wants to slam down the guests.

Yes I think Rob looks shy and a little embarrassed but, as we all know, that is what appeals to us about him.
The show cannot be taken seriously. I believe it is supposed to be light and humorous. So we should not be surprised that this interview was lacking depth. We have also heard him asked silly, rude and downright annoying questions before so these were pretty tame in comparison. Obviously he was there to sell the Twilight franchise.
He looked great and his star power has obviously not deserted him in France judging by the screams and the size of that crowd.
My one complaint ..if Eric Cantona got to play a trumpet then instead of the silly fangs the women should have had a piano there for Rob.

Oh thank you and you're welcome. Actually I'm a little surprised that people are quite getting angry with this interview (no offense meant to them), I think it went well.
Le Grand Journal is definitely not a serious show about cinema and it is meant more for the general audience who would know Robert as 'the hot guy from twilight'. I didn't expect much. I think imo what an actor has to do when he's on a show that shouldn't be taken seriously and has humorous/weird moments in it (like the fang girl asking for a kiss) is showing people that he can go along with any kind of humor and situations and play nice and simple too. Robert did a fantastic job with that, much more than Cantona who was asked to play the trumpet and was like 'so you come and give me that like I HAVE to play it now?'. We were like 'what an arrogant ass' at home. The reactions at home about Robert though were 'he really looks like a sweet guy'. And making a good impression and being seen in a positive light is part of what a celeb can expect from Cannes, especially if they don't have a movie in the competition. Oh and I agree about Robert being asked to play the piano instead but I guess all of this (fangs or trumpet) was also to kinda unsettle and 'test' the celeb and be 'fun' and it wouldn't have been much of a 'test' for Robert to play the piano... Now it would have been a test (to swoon or not to swoon) for all the female fans there who would have to see that ;)
Re. the guy who 'advised' him to go see a vampire movie, I didn't take it as being mean at first. I just thought it was quite stupid to think he'd have to see all vampires movies from now on. Now I don't know the guy so I believe people who said it was meant to be a dig at him and it was mean. I don't think it was that bad though and I didn't feel the need to hug him to comfort him (not that I wouldn't want a hug from him though of course lol). And Robert just looked like he thought he'd be asked a question or something and he just put his micro down when he saw that didn't require one from him. And anyway maybe that's what prompted Denisot and Cantona to say these nice things about Robert at the end after they saw how nice, unaffected and down to earth he was. That's what I'll remember the most from that show since I didn't expect any interesting deep questions being asked. I'm just disappointed they cut off the question about Little Ashes in order to show a bit of Twilight.
That's just my opinion of course and I get that people would think and feel differently of course.

Summit appear to be showing a lot of faith in his abilities also. He is there in Cannes promoting on his own. Which is a pretty big deal..(I think.)

I agree. I too think that it shows Summit trusts him. The 'Festival de Cannes' is really a big thing and thus a big deal for the studios. I guess they need to send someone who draws a lot of media attention (which robert definitely does) and at the same time can hold their own, represent them and their movie well and earn respect from the show business people.
So I agree sending Robert at Cannes shows Summit have faith in him and imo he's dealing well with all of this so far...
I think it's important for his own carreer too, there are so many powerful people (writers, producers, ...) who are in Cannes or follow everything that happens over there. I guess it's a big deal for an actor to be seen in Cannes, right?
