I don't see it. Just don't. I have watched and watched for it but I just don't see it. I see friendliness and insecure bonding, but no real chemistry. I don't see body language that says otherwise either. They could be dating, but I am not sure of it. Someone commented how she was looking at his lips at Sam's concert. But it was a noisy room, she would have to to "hear" what he was saying. But then, I don't see chemistry from K at all. I have not seen any of her acting work that was impressive. Maybe she feels it and just doesn't show it. In the director's commentaries on the DVD, the scene where B overheard E trying to get transferred out of that biology class, K's comment was that she thought she jerked the office door open angrily. But she really didn't. Just sort of tugged at it. She does not exhibit any emotion, really. I just don't get it. She is a cute girl, but I think just a mediocre actor. Rob, on the other hand, he oozes emotion and chemistry. He has a presence about him. And I know this is not a competition between them, but he is so much more talented. Anyway, that is how I see it. And BTW, I am not going to tell you guys how old I am. It is just too embarrassing. Let's just say, I bet I have a LOT more life experience than anyone else on here. I completely understand what you're saying about R/K and the chemistry, and for the most part, I agree with you. I don't see it, and I've tried very hard. I think Rob does ooze emotion and charm, and he would have chemistry with a rock ... and Kristin is very closed off, and as of this point, ICA agree with you about her acting. I am hoping she will do better in NM.

Sorry, I took a break. Yes, I have seen LOTS and LOTS of interviews with R&K before, during and after Twilight. I see friendship and camaraderie and that is all. And I am pretty observant about matters of the heart. I noticed strong chemistry between my daughter and a guy before she did once upon seeing them together for about 5 minutes, just casual conversation. I don't see heat. And I don't mean to knock that little girl, but I have seen her in several projects and still think she shows no emotion. Speak....Into the Wild, etc. When I saw ITW, I never heard of her and thought, wow, that little girl is cute but is a terrible actress. So, maybe there is heat, but I just can't see it. Nonetheless, I am really looking forward to seeing him with a different leading lady to really show off his acting chops. And thanks, everyone, for making me feel welcome and not like a perv! My obsession is so embarrassing but so hard to contain inside this closet! LOL I am very...uhm, careful, where I let my obsession lead me....But I still know pretty when I see it!

If she doesn't, the movie will fail, no matter what great changes CW has made. I saw a bit more emotion from her in the trailer, so I'm holding out hope.

I've tried to be objective and look at all points of view, but everytime I see him, my rationality goes out the window. Sam- Your party sounds slammin! And hilarious! That is the funniest idea. When I tell my sister, she will crack up. And my kids are older than Rob. But you guys have made me feel much more sane. I am telling you guys, my Robbie Boy has the Elvis Factor. I have not seen anyone with this since Big E. And his prime was before my time, but still. His draw never ceased and even 30+ years after his death, it still goes on. His marriage, nothing stopped it or topped it. Even the Beatles coveted his allure. It was something. And Robbie Boy has it too. Personally, I would love to see him in a relationship with a non-actor, non-celebrity. He seems like the kind that would be happier with a simpler, more grounded girl. That is how I see it.
I will say tho, that I have to blame the director for a lot of that. Even tho a lot of Twilight stayed close to the book - except for that God awful greenhouse scene and Edward taking Bella around in trees (like he would EVER do that) - CH focused more on detail (ie, closeups) the she did getting the emotional impact of the story across. She was enthusiastic, (and a total Rob groupie, lol) but she failed, and you can tell Rob thinks so too.
Stacy- you said exactly what I was thinking. I have been just friends with guys that were hot before(even after I got married) and never once thought "What the hell, he's hot might as well F*^K him." But if the rumors turn out to be true then it maybe something that grew over time.

I'm the minority here. I like Kristen as an actress. I saw her in "speak" which was the one about teen daterape. I've seen all her other movies to. I feel like the lack of emotion was the directer's fault. Many times both Rob and Kristen stated that CH wanted them to lighten up the characters. They said they had to get each other's back and stand there ground for the story and the movie.I just watched that interview the other night wish I could remember which one it was so I could post it. Nope, Sam, I'm not skeered! I am cracking up, though. Yeah, Twi was a disappointing movie in many ways. I think b/c their budget was so low and they cut corners. But I was very impressed with Rob's portrayal. I am late to the Twilight fanship. I new very little about it till right before the DVD came out. Read them all, got the DVD and began my fantasy tour. He had me at, "Say it. Out loud!" And now my neighbors have complained from hearing me shout it out loud a LOT! LMHO!
IMO, she wasn't the right person for this film. She's too quirky, and tried to make it a weird little indie film instead of the epic love story it could have been. She spent too much money on getting the locations exact, and too much time worrying about facial expressions and close ups instead of getting her young leads to show some emotion. And was she high the day they filmed the bio room scene? Is that what made her think Rob did a good job by looking like he wanted to be sick? I mean, wtf? She couldn't see the fail in that? And Kristen's stuttering in the hospital room, instead of being truly emotional. She couldn't see the fail in that?

Mech - LOL - I agree. I would watch Rob stand still and read the dictionary for 2 hours and be happy.
I didn't like CH direction of Twi. She missed focused on the wrong details and missed the epic love story as someone else said earlier. BUT she gave us Rob as Edward and for that we all owe her big time!
1 – How could anyone be as impervious to Rob’s appeal as KK claims to be? It’s just not possible. I don’t care if you’re male, female, straight, gay or a sexually ambiguous lawn chair, the guy oozes sensuality. But wait! There is one person who obstinately refuses to accept this fact, the one who has raised self-deprecation to an art form – RP himself. Even in the clever disguise of a mild-mannered Robsessor – and the boy CAN act – he can’t bring himself to acknowledge his own hotness.
2. KK’s resistance to watching the DVD commentary is well-documented. Now what kind of masochist would deny herself that much fun? While remaining largely unmoved by Rob’s drool-inducing exterior, she claims to admire his brain. And what better window into that organ, (which is usually overshadowed by the specter of another) than the Twi-Com? Where else can you hear stirring sagas of Rob’s prowess at sports (The Tale of the Bendy-Fingered Goalie), his inspiring bounce back from major surgery (yes, completely inside out), his valuable advice on what to say when confronted by thugs in a dark alley. Only one person could logically avoid the commentary for the simple reason that he doesn’t like to watch his own movies – yep, RP. 3. The sanpaku eyes should have been a giveaway. So yeah, on the computer they look orange, but really how far away is that from “topaz”? 4. Who would pick the username “KK,” which obviously stands for “Kristen, Kristen”, other than the dude who - popular opinion now maintains – wanders around repeating those syllables over and over to himself in a besotted daze? So come clean, Patticakes! Admit you’ve been here all the time and that you lust after each and every one of us.
Ohhh Sam ... we must see pics of your party BTW. I have never seen any Twilight theme stuff. I'm sure Rob is breathing a sigh of relief that he is not on... oh you know... bandaids, pencils, greeting cards, toothbrushes, etc... all that wacky stuff you see HM and HSM on. Thank God for small favors. What about red plates and napkins with a sparkly table cloth and lots of framed pics of Rob around and a themed cake- ohh better yeat a pic of Rob on the cake- YUM. And you know have the Twilight soundtrack as back ground music. I like the fangs idea. And as for the penis- you drawing that??? IF Rob evers reads this blog- I can't imagine what he must think

ReplyDeleteI want to comment on the chemistry that everyone has been saying that supposedly exists between R&K. I don't see it. Just don't. I have watched and watched for it but I just don't see it. I see friendliness and insecure bonding, but no real chemistry. I don't see body language that says otherwise either. They could be dating, but I am not sure of it. Someone commented how she was looking at his lips at Sam's concert. But it was a noisy room, she would have to to "hear" what he was saying. But then, I don't see chemistry from K at all. I have not seen any of her acting work that was impressive. Maybe she feels it and just doesn't show it. In the director's commentaries on the DVD, the scene where B overheard E trying to get transferred out of that biology class, K's comment was that she thought she jerked the office door open angrily. But she really didn't. Just sort of tugged at it. She does not exhibit any emotion, really. I just don't get it. She is a cute girl, but I think just a mediocre actor. Rob, on the other hand, he oozes emotion and chemistry. He has a presence about him. And I know this is not a competition between them, but he is so much more talented. Anyway, that is how I see it.
And BTW, I am not going to tell you guys how old I am. It is just too embarrassing. Let's just say, I bet I have a LOT more life experience than anyone else on here. My granddaughters and I Twilight together. Oops, did I claim to be a grandmother? Wow! Told you it is embarrassing.

I think Rob does ooze emotion and charm, and he would have chemistry with a rock ... and Kristin is very closed off, and as of this point, ICA agree with you about her acting. I am hoping she will do better in NM.

Momma- There have been grandmothers on this site loving on some Rob. We did a poll a while back. The ages ranged from teens to grandmothers in there 70's or was it 80's I forgot??? Sorry, I took a break. Yes, I have seen LOTS and LOTS of interviews with R&K before, during and after Twilight. I see friendship and camaraderie and that is all. And I am pretty observant about matters of the heart. I noticed strong chemistry between my daughter and a guy before she did once upon seeing them together for about 5 minutes, just casual conversation. I don't see heat. And I don't mean to knock that little girl, but I have seen her in several projects and still think she shows no emotion. Speak....Into the Wild, etc. When I saw ITW, I never heard of her and thought, wow, that little girl is cute but is a terrible actress. So, maybe there is heat, but I just can't see it. Nonetheless, I am really looking forward to seeing him with a different leading lady to really show off his acting chops.

I just ... I don't see the other stuff. I'm not saying I dont think there's a chance something might be going, because at this point, I do. But I just don't see them eye fucking and gravitating to each other like others do.
And you guys pretty much nailed it on how I feel about Kristen as an actress, at this point. The Bella she brought to the screen was basically a characterization of herself, and that isn't Bella. I think Kristen was trying to portray her as strong, but instead she came out flat and emotionless, and was a big let down. She HAS to bring it for NM. If she doesn't, the movie will fail, no matter what great changes CW has made.
I saw a bit more emotion from her in the trailer, so I'm holding out hope.

RE: the denial crap. Just because we see things differently doesn't mean we're in denial. We just don't see it like you do.
And I have to crack up when I see people say, look at Rob, how could you not? I mean, come on, the guy is hot, and seems sweet and down to earth, but ... we don't know him. We don't know what he's like on a daily basis. He could be the world's biggest pain in the ass, he could stink, have bad breath, whatever. I don't think he does, but my point is: you don't get into a relationship with someone just because he's hot. You don't fuck up a 3 year relationship to bang someone else JUST because he's hot. If there is something between R/K, then I'd hope it was more then Rob's looks on Kristen's part.

Show, glad someone else agrees that Twi sucked hard. I don't really see the chemistry in the film, just in reality. I've tried to be objective and look at all points of view, but everytime I see him, my rationality goes out the window. Then, when the blood returns to my face, I realize, yet again, that no woman could resist. Especially K. Plus, we all know she's not that good an actress. It has to be real or she couldn't pull it off!

I am telling you guys, my Robbie Boy has the Elvis Factor. I have not seen anyone with this since Big E. And his prime was before my time, but still. His draw never ceased and even 30+ years after his death, it still goes on. His marriage, nothing stopped it or topped it. Even the Beatles coveted his allure. It was something. And Robbie Boy has it too.
Personally, I would love to see him in a relationship with a non-actor, non-celebrity. He seems like the kind that would be happier with a simpler, more grounded girl. That is how I see it.

Even tho a lot of Twilight stayed close to the book - except for that God awful greenhouse scene and Edward taking Bella around in trees (like he would EVER do that) - CH focused more on detail (ie, closeups) the she did getting the emotional impact of the story across. She was enthusiastic, (and a total Rob groupie, lol) but she failed, and you can tell Rob thinks so too.

ReplyDeleteI feel like the lack of emotion was the directer's fault. Many times both Rob and Kristen stated that CH wanted them to lighten up the characters. They said they had to get each other's back and stand there ground for the story and the movie.I just watched that interview the other night wish I could remember which one it was so I could post it.

ReplyDeleteYeah, Twi was a disappointing movie in many ways. I think b/c their budget was so low and they cut corners. But I was very impressed with Rob's portrayal. I am late to the Twilight fanship. I new very little about it till right before the DVD came out. Read them all, got the DVD and began my fantasy tour. He had me at, "Say it. Out loud!"
And now my neighbors have complained from hearing me shout it out loud a LOT!

Oh the bedroom scene in Twilight is my favorite part... I can see the chemistry in that particular scene, but the rest just kind of falls flat.

She spent too much money on getting the locations exact, and too much time worrying about facial expressions and close ups instead of getting her young leads to show some emotion. And was she high the day they filmed the bio room scene? Is that what made her think Rob did a good job by looking like he wanted to be sick? I mean, wtf? She couldn't see the fail in that? And Kristen's stuttering in the hospital room, instead of being truly emotional. She couldn't see the fail in that?

I live those things to critics.. I base my reviews more in liking it or not; technically the movie has big mistakes, but I´m not paying attention to it.. it has 2 hours of Rob playing Edward Cullen.. you can give me a tape of Rob, playing any character and as the character just reading a dictionary, and I´ll probably enjoy it.
For example, I don’t like the hunted airman but Rob is so good in his role, that I can´t stop watching it.

Momma- I found out about Twilight in Feb. when I read the first book. Within two weeks I had read all four books and then had to wait 3 weeks for the DVD to come out (it was a long 3 weeks). Once I saw the movie I wanted to find out more about Rob. Once I found this blog and started to see his interviews I was hooked.
