Robert Pattinson is a bad tipper?

OK Magazine claims (OK! of the source of TONS of crap):

Maybe someone should tell Robert Pattinson he’s a rich movie star now!

Earlier this week, the Twilight hottie and some pals spent $350 on dinner in a fancy restaurant — but only dropped a $50 tip!

Rob, in the Big Apple to shoot his new film Remember Me, went to famed Greenwich Village Italian eatery Il Cantinori with three guy pals and a female friend just before 10pm on Tuesday.

Onlookers tell OK! that the group drank a $60 bottle of Chianti and Rob himself knocked back a couple of bottles of Moretti Italian beer (he had the Caprese salad as an appetizer and the veal Milanese for the entree, since you’re wondering…).

The casually dressed party laughed and joked at the table until nearly midnight. “They were the last diners to leave,” says one observer. The restaurant even comped a round of prosecco for the table.

But when it came time to pay, the group left a tip of only $50, just shy of the standard 15%, and way shy of what you’d expect the star of the most anticipated movie of the year to pay.

Even so, their waiter told OK! Rob was “very nice and friendly.”

But come on Rob, you’re not a starving artist anymore — you can do better than that!

Gozde: Here is a tip for Il Cantinori : Rob ain't NEVER coming back to your sad little restaurant.
You tipped the papz that he was there, a NO NO if you want to be a celeb hang out PLUS you leaked the details of the night.

By the way %15 is a pretty generous tip for a European. It was 3 HOBOs, a manager and a screenwriter, suck it up :)

  1. LMAO @ 3 hobos. $50 is NOT that bad of a tip on a $350 bill. Nothing like making a mountain out of a molehill OK.

Unfortunately here in the states the servers do not get paid as much as they do in Europe.

That said, I would serve him for free, cuz there is really only one "tip" he has that I really want....

  4. oh and, ummm GOZ, is ROBERT giving the finger there?
    UUUHHHHH MMMMMMMMMMMMM

  5. LMAO @ 3 Hobos. You know, in my head these days, I refer to him solely as Hobo. I love it -- I hope he continues to live up to that name forever. Darling boy.

  7. I'm a Brit who lived in NYC - we are not briefed at customs the acceptable percentages for tipping!
In the UK we just "round up a bit" - and that's only if you've been out to a nice restaurant - as standard, we don't add extra for cabs, diners, etc.
$50 would have sounded perfectly acceptable to me too if I was in his shoes :)

  8. You go,Goz, tell em!!!If that restaurant did tip off the paps as to the location and deets of the evening, then SHAME ON THEM!!!!!They didn't even deserve that kind of tip!!And like ROBPATTINSONforDummies said, it was probably Manager Nick who foot the bill, not Rob and his 2 other hobos. And also, look at what magazine it is,need I say more????

  9. OMG, I am laughing my ass off at the Flip Off scene with this article from Crapazine...

If it is true, and who cares if it is, maybe the service was bad or the food...

Whatever, either way you're business will pick up now because he was there!

And yea, he could at my err, table anytime for free.

  10. Oops, meant to say that he could eat at my table for free.

  11. I'm a Brit too living in LA and $50 is a good tip. Why because he's a celebrity should he pay more????? He's a normal person and should be treated as such. Well the restaurant loses out because Rob won't go back there in a hurry.

Love you Rob - just keep being you!!

  12. Agree with the European thing.
I don't think it's expected to tip here.
I would be hella shocked if someone left me £50 extra ;)
    hhahhaa.
    Also, yes Goz!
Agree with all you said! You can't leak all the info and then complain about the tip.
    c'mon man.

  13. Glad to see that you added that 15% is a generous tip for a European, that is what Rob is use to and so would his buddies.

How rich do we all think Rob is, anyway we don't know what his expenses are, and he isn't making $20 million a picture, so lets not throw stones.
Sometimes I think we assume to much about what actors have in actual cash assets.
And where did someone get the idea that waiters are well paid in Europe.
In most elite Hotels in Britain a waiter only stands to earn $25,000 a year before taxes. Taxes are much higher there than in the US, and the cost of living is considerably higher.

I agree with everyone else I would serve him for free but then that doesn't pay the bills.

  14. Also, I think people are getting ahead of themselves.
I wouldn't be surprised if Rob doesn't have that much more money than he used to.
Obviously, he has abit more, but the riches they expect don't come overnight...

  15. LOL!! 3 HOBOS , alright! lucky for the server for the bill getting paid plus tip! :)

  16. I'm an accountant who works on TV shoes and movies and all their money goes straight to their agents usually so they don't see it like every week. He'd be getting a per diem so he probably has a little cash given to him every week. I agree about the money per movie he is getting - I doubt it's as huge as most people think it is!! WOW all the attention to this is crazy. Poor Rob! I'm glad he got to go out with his HOBO friends though! especially TomStu - ugh I love him too!

  17. wow.. what kinda (insert C word)
    reports this?

    This is really hilarious.

    i love hobos!

managers who felaciate papz.. not so much

  18. See this is what happens when you become a big star, then people watch everything you do closely, so even if Rob had nothing to do with paying for those meals, he will get the blame. Always happens.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Another thing I disagree that because you are rich you should pay more than the average person. I remember once Michael Jackson saying "oh yeah, they see me coming and all the sudden the price goes up 3 times as much" That is wrong. I am upset that he has to pay (at least I think he does) for some of his bodyguards just because some folks can't control themselves.

  20. I was just going to say, I travel to Europe on business, and I've been told that big tipping is not the thing to do there, it is kind of insulting, because they are better paid than waitstaff here in America.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Does anyone else find it a little creepy that they reported everything he ate in excruciating detail? Sketchyyyyyy. haha. OK! can take their load of bovine fecal matter and shove it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. $350 for the meal ok. A 15% tip would be $52.50. They left $50.
The restaurant workers are getting upset over $2.50
    That's kind of pathetic!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh PULEEEZ! They should PAY HIM to eat at their restaurant b/c every fanshee in the vicinity will go there to eat now.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I hate all the negative publicity he gets. They were lucky to get a $50 tip, it could have been $5.00! That would've been cheap. And after opening their big mouths they should lose their jobs. I wish everyone would just leave the guy alone.

    ReplyDelete
  25. they tip in europe? i thought they didn't.

  26. "Rob's Presence Is The Tip Itself"
I couldn't have said it better myself.

  27. 50$ is a lot IMO in my European country people are not even used to give tips...

  29. If I was a waiter I would wait on Rob for free...LOL

    ReplyDelete
  30. Didn't know about customs in the US (15 %), but 50 $ tip on 350 $ bill seem fine to me. Here in Austria we usually give a tip of 10 %.

    ReplyDelete
  31. This article is ridiculuos, and pathetic of the restaurant to give out details, nice way of losing a customer!

Also why does everyone just assume that Rob is LOADED with cash? Sure he got money but like someone said he doesn't make $20 mill per movie, as hot as he is now he is NOT the highest paid actor in movies. Sure he's probably not poor either lol.

But this was just under 15% and when I am in UK I normally give 10% which I have been told is the norm in Europe. In Norway service is included in the bill and if we feel like it we tip, if not then no biggie. Salaries to waiters here aren't top notch but still it is not expected that ppl leave a tip as it is already calculated in the bill.

So this article I find pathetic and greedy (not directing this to Gozde! She is just sharing the article!! Thanks :-) but to OK Mag.)from OK mag and the stupid restaurant.

  32. Seriously the guy is not a millionaire. I doubt he got a lot for Twilight certainly not after paying for his management, agent and tax. If he was left with 100.000-200.000$ I'd be surprised. He undoubtedly would get paid more for NM and RM but I am not sure whether that paycheck would have arrived yet. And it would be maybe 2 mill $ per movie brutto. So after paying his "entourage" and tax he may be left with 1 mio $ per movie. Certainly not bad but hardly reason to start leading a fancy money wasting Hollywood lifestyle especially if you are as pessimistic as Rob and expect your career to end any second.

  33. I THINK THAT FOR A EUROPEAN LIKE ME 50$ TIP ON 350$ BILL IS REALLY GOOD AND I CANT SEE WHY HE SHOULD PAY MORE JUST CAUSE IS ROBERT PATTINSON...GOZ U WERE RIGHT WHEN U SAID THAT THE RESTAURANT PAID THE PAPS AND SELL THE STORY...
WHY THEY DONT LEAVE THIS POOR GUY HAVE A DINNER WITH HIS FRIENDS IN PEACE?? FOR ONCE???

  34. This is so stupid.
I´m from the middle of europe, an my thirst thought after reading about 50$ tip for a 350$ bill was: wow, that´s much....so what???
