I'm very excited but I feel a bit sorry for Edward at the same time.. Although at the Twilight book it is clear how difficult it is for Edward to be so close to Bella, it wasn't obvious at the movie. New Moon seems to be so much better than Twilight!!!
Well... something wrong with me here?! Or am I the only one who thinks this scene is so heart-wrenching instead of making me horny?! It's set AFTER the disastrous birthday party when Edwards getting so painfully distant towards Bella - she feels it and is so afraid of loosing him... that's why she asks for the kiss.
Robwards face (and the groan) during the kiss shows so much pain... because for him it's already sort of a Goodbye. This is really going to kill me... Now, I'm really sure that I'm going to cry like a baby when we can FINALLY watch the whole movie. It's oing to be so damn heartbreaking!!
I'm having my Left Hip replaced in the morning. When they're giving me my Joy Juice and telling me to count backward...I'm going to replay that little moan/groan noise Robward makes in that scene.

mohnmarzipan1 You are absolutely right - it was a painful, good bye kiss - but still, imagining HIM kissing me like that, even with the undercurrent of sadness, would make me sweat! :) He is a tremendous actor - letting us all feel the pain and the passion with just his face, hands and the sound of that groan!
Now that I've watched it another half dozen times, I wondered what it was that made him so emotional...at first I thought it was controlling his bloodlust but thanks Mohnmarzipan for reminding me the angst that he is feeling....it's been a while since I read NM. I love how you can fully recognise Rob's voice in those moans - if I could bottle it I would!

OMR OMR... Had to calm myself down and take a 30 sec deep breath before being able to finish watching it!!! I think it is supposed to be super sad and heart wrenching and everything, but somehow the kiss is just too sexual to make me concentrate on the emotional part...

IMO, it's both the bloodlust and the knowledge that he's leaving her that make him react like that. This kiss makes his decision only more difficult... :( I'm sure I'll cry a lot while watching this movie, much more than I did while reading the book...
Even tho it was so sad and gut-wrenching to see Edward in such pain,it was still a very hot kiss (because its Rob).All I can say is, Rob, just ONE night, hon, just one night!!That is all I ask.

I don't think Bella pushes away - it looks like Edward pulls her off him to stop the kiss - true to form. And it's supposed to looked "pained" - I think it conveys the right emotions - pain and longing. He can't fully kiss her - and this is after the birthday party so it's after Jasper tries to attack her. It's not going to be some full on sloppy tongue kiss...I think it's perfect.
the kiss was hot because if you remember in the book...he cant kiss her too passionately because he will want to take her blood and after the blood thing at the party he all messed up in the head so i think they both pull away.

Now I am super worried why the leaked out all the Bella/Edward scenes but not Bella/Jacob scenes? I don't think Rob's fans need temptations to go into theatres if this is for marketing.
On the other hand, imagine if you watch the break up scene, the 'your birth is definitely something to celebrate" scene, and the kiss scene, all first time in theatre, wouldn't that been amazing?! I would be super pissed if they leak out the Italy reunion scene and the proposal scene....
@quipang- don't be worried about all the Edward/Bella scenes being leaked- that is all i care about seeing and it's what makes me want to see the movie even more! All those Jacob/Bella scenes- just make me want to vomit- so i think it is a good marketing technique- majority of people LOVE Edward/Bella together! I don't think there is anyway the "proposal" or Italy reunion scene would be leaked- and i can tell you this much- i would not watch them if they were... The break-up scene was shown in Rome- and once Summit got wind of its wide-spread leak- they yanked it!

This was just too much for me. After a 13 hour workday I log on and see this Kiss and DIED. This is so sensual and painful all at the same time. The play of emotions on his face at that moment was superb: a micro, micro-hint of happiness, love, then the anguish (knowing that he was leaving her), heartbreak and longing (the way he held her neck), once his lips touched hers, all hell broke loose! then desperation and passion (the way his mouth just practically swallowed her), the half groan-half moan utterance showed how he was fighting both his blood lust and physical lust. The agony on his face as he reluctantly let go of her was palpable. He would rather suffer the torment than ____ (fill in the blank). -------
I think Rob is naturally a passionate man. And he knows how to kiss. He gives it all. :)

Hi, Rpattzgirl- I'm afraid you are right about Rob not beeing noticed for anything TW. But I'm not so sure if they will not also neglect him for his other roles in the near future as he might be branded as the broading vampire from TW (as in the recent badly investigated THA review).
Oh my oh my. The unf sounds - those are just barely PG13! I wonder if they'll edit them for the theatrical run; I bet Rob and Kris just died when they saw the clip!
I dunno--on MY planet, we understand a difference between a groan (or grunt, or vocalized sigh)that is an involuntary expression of the pinnacles (or even implications) of physical and possibly emotional ecstasy-- and the vocalized expression of pain so severe, so crushing, that it tells of even a frozen heart being broken and shattered, with no hopes of being put back together for eternity.
As for being branded or unnoticed by Twilight performance, the clips indicate a movie so good that critics WILL take notice, and so performances will be noticed as well.

MissMod, the more I think about this psychologically, the more I think CW and Summit know what they are doing and are doing a favour to everyone--Can you imagine if you had no warning and no preparation for any of this? They would need popcorn-bucket-sized bottles of smelling salts, heart defibulators for at least half the number of seats in the theatres, and, extrapolating from the comments here, fruit-of-the-loom concession stands.
Solas, I think you are completely right that there is some intention on the part of Summit; I think they're allowing these clips to be 'leaked' to build anticipation for the movie and get fan feedback. We all know they changed the werewolves after that sneak peak and this scene is either a reshoot or at least a completely different take from the sneak peak version released earlier that didn't contain nearly the degree of emotion as this one did. What do you think? Oh, I have to ask after reading your bio - did you ever read The Penderwicks (it's a kid's book but you might like it).
@Solas - I originally plan to NOT take my boyfriend because he's already a suffering ROB widow, and I really wanted to take my younger sister (who's at ROB's age), but after that video I now plan to go ON MY OWN so as not to embarass myself if I ever lose control while watching this movie.
Freedomland-- Yes, I think the people at Summit, or CW himself, or both/all were quite clever in this endeavor; I know I gave quite a vociferous negative opinon about the wolves first seen (they looked like cartoons to myself) and now-- they terrify me as I suppose they should. But in a previous post, I meant it was kind of a favour, perhaps not intended, to give some tastes of the movie; it certainly makes us want all the more to see it, but from what I see posted here, people are so moved/freaked/palpitating /salivating just from the clips, that if they had seen them first only in the theatre, the reactions might really be beyond control. Between raising children, teaching children, writing curriculum, writing books,and being a counselor, and being rather unimpressed with or even grossed by out a lot of fiction aimed at adults, I read a lot of children's books; The Penderwicks book was quite sweet.
mary--I can totally understand. I am planning on going myself at least the first few times. My kids cannot stand being next to me in a movie; I embarrass them. I kind of get into most movies, as if I am there. I don't know how to explain it. I don't have the same phantasy/sexual obsessions about Rob that many here seem to have, but I am like an empath and I am sure I will weep from the pain.
Aren't they supposed to finish shooting Eclipse today?! Dunno if we get to see Rob and Kristen flying back to LA... I really hope D Slades will not make Eclipse= Horror+Action/Special Effect+Cheesy typical love triangle movie...

I'm very excited but I feel a bit sorry for Edward at the same time.. Although at the Twilight book it is clear how difficult it is for Edward to be so close to Bella, it wasn't obvious at the movie. New Moon seems to be so much better than Twilight!!!
Well... something wrong with me here?! Or am I the only one who thinks this scene is so heart-wrenching instead of making me horny?! It's set AFTER the disastrous birthday party when Edwards getting so painfully distant towards Bella - she feels it and is so afraid of loosing him... that's why she asks for the kiss.

And it's supposed to looked "pained" - I think it conveys the right emotions - pain and longing. He can't fully kiss her - and this is after the birthday party so it's after Jasper tries to attack her. It's not going to be some full on sloppy tongue kiss...I think it's perfect.

All those Jacob/Bella scenes- just make me want to vomit- so i think it is a good marketing technique- majority of people LOVE Edward/Bella together!

ReplyDeleteI really hate spoilers. I really do. And in the last 2 weeks or so I tried to stay away from any temptation. And I succeeded ... And then they come up with this... How can someone resist the kissing scene haa? Well I couldn't. I don't have any words to express myself... maybe to SHORT?:) We need 1 minute long kissing scene :) Really Summit make it LONGER!!! :))

Marennostrum- You are so right! The suffering face during that kiss really proves what extraordinary actor Rob is. Hardly can't remember any actor having a similar extraordinary facial expression during a kissing scene.

Rob was able to convey in one scene all the emotions that practically summed up Edward’s character:
When Bella asked for that kiss,
Edward would not deny Bella— would not deny his reason for “living”.
The play of emotions on his face at that moment was superb: a micro, micro-hint of happiness, love, then the anguish (knowing that he was leaving her), heartbreak and longing (the way he held her neck), once his lips touched hers, all hell broke loose! then desperation and passion (the way his mouth just practically swallowed her), the half groan-half moan utterance showed how he was fighting both his blood lust and physical lust. The agony on his face as he reluctantly let go of her was palpable. He would rather suffer the torment than ____ (fill in the blank).

I think Rob is naturally a passionate man. And he knows how to kiss. He gives it all.

ReplyDeleteI know robs acting ( which I think is supberb) will go un-noticed (by critics, etc) for any twilight film... but really, the emotional and physical pain he has to show in his face and body language is soooo good..
Geez we still have leg hitches, pre wedding nights and isle esme to look forward to...
Not to mention agressive love scenes in remember me and wall pounding in bel ami!!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm afraid you are right about Rob not beeing noticed for anything TW. But I'm not so sure if they will not also neglect him for his other roles in the near future as he might be branded as the broading vampire from TW (as in the recent badly investigated THA review).
Oh my oh my. The unf sounds - those are just barely PG13! I wonder if they'll edit them for the theatrical run; I bet Rob and Kris just died when they saw the clip!

I dunno--on MY planet, we understand a difference between a groan (or grunt, or vocalized sigh)that is an involuntary expression of the pinnacles (or even implications) of physical and possibly emotional ecstasy-- and the vocalized expression of pain so severe, so crushing, that it tells of even a frozen heart being broken and shattered, with no hopes of being put back together for eternity.

How does he make it that even after watching so many times, I have no clue how Kristens face looks like during the kiss? I'm so glued to his face and so captured by his mimic that I just can't tell.

ReplyDeleteMissMod, the more I think about this psychologically, the more I think CW and Summit know what they are doing and are doing a favour to everyone--Can you imagine if you had no warning and no preparation for any of this? They would need popcorn-bucket-sized bottles of smelling salts, heart defibulators for at least half the number of seats in the theatres, and, extrapolating from the comments here, fruit-of-the-loom concession stands.
ReplyDeleteSolas, I think you are completely right that there is some intention on the part of Summit; I think they're allowing these clips to be 'leaked' to build anticipation for the movie and get fan feedback. We all know they changed the werewolves after that sneak peak and this scene is either a reshoot or at least a completely different take from the sneak peak version released earlier that didn't contain nearly the degree of emotion as this one did. What do you think? Oh, I have to ask after reading your bio - did you ever read The Penderwicks (it's a kid's book but you might like it).
ReplyDelete@Solas - I originally plan to NOT take my boyfriend because he's already a suffering ROB widow, and I really wanted to take my younger sister (who's at ROB's age), but after that video I now plan to go ON MY OWN so as not to embarass myself if I ever lose control while watching this movie.

ReplyDeleteFreedomland-- Yes, I think the people at Summit, or CW himself, or both/all were quite clever in this endeavor; I know I gave quite a vociferous negative opinon about the wolves first seen (they looked like cartoons to myself) and now-- they terrify me as I suppose they should. But in a previous post, I meant it was kind of a favour, perhaps not intended, to give some tastes of the movie; it certainly makes us want all the more to see it, but from what I see posted here, people are so moved/freaked/palpitating /salivating just from the clips, that if they had seen them first only in the theatre, the reactions might really be beyond control. Between raising children, teaching children, writing curriculum, writing books,and being a counselor, and being rather unimpressed with or even grossed by out a lot of fiction aimed at adults, I read a lot of children's books; The Penderwicks book was quite sweet.
ReplyDeletemary--I can totally understand. I am planning on going myself at least the first few times. My kids cannot stand being next to me in a movie; I embarrass them. I kind of get into most movies, as if I am there. I don't know how to explain it. I don't have the same phantasy/sexual obsessions about Rob that many here seem to have, but I am like an empath and I am sure I will weep from the pain.
