Still basking in the glory “New Moon’s” opening weekend, Robert Pattinson was spotted out to dinner in New York City last night (November 22).
The “Twilight” stud looked a bit camera-shy as he made his way out of Megu Japanese restaurant in downtown Manhattan where he was said to be having dinner with costar Kristen Stewart.

ReplyDeleteThis has been a pattern that paps and autograph seekers in Vancouver have pointed out before--that Robert often goes out a front entrance, absorbs the pap attention, letting others in his party exit from a different location and not have to deal witth paps.

ReplyDeleteDevi, Jamie, LK-the other day, when all the media reported rob being out and about alone in NY (with friends), you could clearly see, on pictures here, on this site, kristen's manager/PA assistant. and there was no kstew in the pictures. so...unless he and kstew's manager/PA/something are best buddies or secret lovers, she was there...and nobody mentioned it.

I'm not a shipper and don't have strong feelings one way or the other, but I have to ask, why does it matter? Friends have dinner, right? I get it, there are no pics, but as I said earlier, he obviously had dinner with someone, who is no where to be seen in the pics or account. It is possible to get around the paps. They traveled all over the world recently and weren't papped at every airport, etc. Only some. They said it themselves, there are ways. Maybe they didn't have dinner, who knows. I'm just confused as to why it's so important to some to believe they didn't.

ReplyDeleteHe didn't eat alone--yet he's walking out the FRONT ENTRANCE alone. No star as big as him uses front entrances unless they want to be papped. The fact that a) he used the front entrance to be papped on purpose and b) he's coming out alone yet all the details from inside said he was with others sorta implies he's taking one for the team here folks. Rob is not a fame whore, and only fame whores rush into the front entrance lion's pap den to get photographed. There was a purpose for him walking out the front alone.

Im with you Debbi. Im not a shipper, but i have to admit, at this point i do think they are together. But sometimes i feel like people are just as obsessed with proving that they are not together as shipper are with proving that they are.

Well said debbi :-). And hey if Rob does take the brunt of the paps that just shows he's a gentleman, also hasn't Kristen been ill..she had a cold during the last promo stuff she did. So maybe he is taking the brunt of the paps so she can get away unnoticed...either way whatever the reason is, if that is the case he's a gentleman and takes care of his friends, being them male or female. I love that idea!

ReplyDeleteNotice what types of pictures we get every night--Robert coming out the front of a restaurant alone, looking bored and tired. Yet all the information from inside each restaurant on Friday and Sunday say he was having a grand ol' time inside with a group of people.
Robert is not dumb, he's sly. He knows how to use the paps if he needs to, and he knows how to take a picture to convey whatever he wants. You'd think from the shots in the last couple days he didn't have a friend in the world, he was on his last dime, and he was sad.
And yet the kid's movie is breaking box office records, he was jovial just minutes earlier, and was not alone inside.
Kid's smart-he's effing with the paps here people. lol
Rob is no dummy. Rob is papped here alone and still he's the topic of blogs everywhere. No need to question why he goes to and from places alone. I'm sure his dinner companion(s) appreciates not having had to go through this.

I was trying to get across that just because he had dinner with friends does not mean that it was with Kristen. Yeah, it could have been, but I found it odd that we didn't see one picture of her. Yes, now that you say he probably was the decoy, that makes sense.

Sure, he does that "little boy lost" schtick expertly, it makes every cougar in the nation want to feed him soup while molesting him. lol
But he's much more saavy in terms of how he deals with paps and public image, and it sorta illustrates more than anything that his life is weird. lol Going to eat becomes a process, with a strategy, with exit plans. lol His life is insane, and he's handling it like quite saavy like.
Well Kat, because I'm not feeling overly generous today I'll say that comment was needlessly snarky and plain stupid. Of course we (I) know THanksgiving is an American holiday. I also know that foreigners staying in the US tend to join in the spirit and celebrate it with their American friends. I posted on an earlier blog, but I read someones tweet last night who works on the set of Eclipse and lives in NYC. She said that TomStu got an apt. in "The Village" in NYC. Maybe that's where Rob has been househunting. And he's having Tom get the place for him so as not to attract attention. She also said that L.A. is a paparazzi heaven, and stars prefer NYC because they're not as hounded. So perhaps Rob is staying in NYC to get settled in his new digs. I don't believe he and Kristen are together....Rob is still single or with someone else and this whole R/K thing is a cover up...just saying.

I think that Rob and Kristen should just come out - guns blazing, matching Ray-Bans on, and just let the frigging paps get their photos and be done with it. Photos of them together won't be so important anymore and will become mundane, thus giving them more freedom... When the mystery is gone, who's going to care anymore about the question if they're together or not... Just my 2 cents.

Rob's too big for showmances, and eating out with Kristen is not a confirmation of them bumping uglies. By their own account, they are thick as thieves close, ain't no big thing if they go out to dinner.
They really can't come out officially. They can indirectly confirm by being seeing out in public together. But they can't confirm directly.

If they date and it doesn't work out(and let's face it, they are young, so not working out is rule, not the exception), people are going to look at the franchise differently. If they confirm they are dating, they have to confirm they aren't anymore as well. Opens up a big can of worms.
Also, yes, Robert is too big a star to have to continue a PR stunt that has lasted a half of year now.
ReplyDeleteThat's not how it works for someone in Robert's celebrity position. Robert's public image is affected by all this publicity, it cheapens his name in many ways to be a constant tabloid target. He does not need to be side by side with Jon Gosselin and Kim Kardashian weekly on gossip rags, he would not take that sort of bullet, just to ensure a good first week box office.
He has too much power and weight in the franchise at this point to have to do such things as pretend to date his costar for months on end and not be seen with anyone else. That's a major personal life intrusion.
One thing is for sure, the paps don't know where Rob is staying. They only get pictures of him when he's left somewhere, lol. Poor guy. Even if he was seen with Tom Sturridge a lot there would be people saying that he's having an affair with him. He can't go out to dinner without it being a big event so no wonder he leaves alone. Leave Rob alone!

ReplyDeleteI think the reality is they will never comment on whatever the nature is of their relationship, and they will leave it open to fans to interpret it how they want to. They aren't going to shove it down anyone's throats.
Rob is a huge paparazzi target, it's official now and I doubt anything will change that.
ReplyDeleteA confirmation would do nothing for him. It might satisfy our curiosity as fans, but the man has got to set some boundaries with the public. And the way he's banned the K-Stew question is a good start. He's been generous as it is in sharing his "inner-life" with the world.
In interviews he's talked about his visceral reaction to his admirers-- being moved to tears by them, wanting to please them but not knowing how...
The thing is he can't please them all. He can't make them all happy. But he can and should put what's best for him and his first.
I've read that Rob admires Jay-Z and even wandered around his old stomping grounds in Brooklyn this past summer. If that's true, I'm hoping he follows Jay's lead in protecting his private life. Jay doesn't give the public anything about his private life. He connects to his fans through his work. It's a good model for Rob to
adapt to his own life.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, in NYC there are alley ways and back entrances. I'm positive that Kris, Tom, Marcus, and whoever else was with Rob went out the back way and down another street to get into their taxis. Rob knows that he is the main attraction for the paps. So he is the decoy to let the others get away. This is so the paps will get their shots and leave him alone for the rest of the night. If he didn't do it they would just hound him for the rest of the night.
And this whole thing with him and Kris being a PR stunt is ridiculous. All the interest in them being together started way back when they did those first MTV on set Twilight interviews. If you have seen them they totally looked like there was something going on and they were flirting with each other. No one at that time knew Kris had a boyfriend. Most importantly they were being themselves. Kris put her finger in his mouth o get food out of his teeth. If that doesn't show some type of closeness. Kris saying that Rob spent the night over her house and they hung out a lot pre-production.Wouldn't that raise an eyebrow a bit. But it was just there genuine comfort level with each other that was a red flag for most people.
That guy from MTV was the first media person who had contact with the cast. So there was no need for them to act the way they did. They were not playing up a relationship for media hype. They were very open with that guy and telling him about how they achieved their connection.So after the fans saw those interviews speculation began. And it got worse after Comic Con 08. Rob and Kris acted like there was something going on. The way they looked at each other and talked only to one another the whole time made it look subspecies. They were caught up in their own little bubble. Anyone with common sense would question if they were together after seeing the way they acted in those interviews and at CC 08.
Oh, PS: Rob looks adorbs, per the usual. He's got the look of a hunted animal, but...

Yves- That Jay Z thing is true. I read the actual interview with him. Rob was there in NYC last year with CH and her producer bf. The article had a picture of them all together sitting at a table in a restaurant. It's from the NEW YORK TIMES I believe. I thought I had the link, but I can't find it.

And they've been worse with Kristen to be honest. They'll egg her on, ask him about his gential size, if he's good in bed, they've trapped her in her car at nightwhere she can't move and she was taped crying.

ReplyDeleteOF COURSE they are not playing something up for pr, they so don´t need it. and OF COURSE they shouldn´t come out as a couple, that would only make people want more pictures of them together, asking them even more personal questions. it is not like you would not want to know anything else if they "came out"? they are doing exactely what is best for both of them and the franchise, just avoiding the question - and hopefully having a great friendship/love privately.

Actually, I've always thought that any celebrity looking for a place to disappear would do well to seek out the nearest east coast (U.S.) housing project. I lived in one when I was a little girl and while the accommodations are often, ahem, modest, you can trust that a) folks keep to their own counsel and don't bother you (unless you bother them), and b) the paparazzi would never think to look for a celeb there!
having lived in nyc for a few years and living in the west village i know that about 90% of restaurants have more than one exit, but i also know that the paparazzi know about those exists. IF kristen was there and they knew it, i think they would have done everything in their power to get a picture of her.

Suppossedly there was a group of 8 there. The report goes that Robert and kristen had different drivers, and the group of others left in different cars. Robert went out the front while the rest of party left from different exits.
Now after I've commented on the pictures themselves, I must say that I agree with those who said that it seems like he is simply taking one for the team.

@Pauleta, I wonder if that post is authentic. If he/she is a smart business owner, he wouldn't want his restaurant to be considered as a place lacking privacy or not celebrity friendly, especially in a place like NY.

Jules- Trust that the owner did tweet that info. It gives him so much publicity. Because back in Vancouver Rob was sold out when he went to that Global restaurant. They told what he ate(Kobe meatballs) and drank(fruity alcoholic drink) there. The same place he went to for his birthday. Now that place has people coming there from all around the world to dine.

Rob DESERVES a private life, and once fans get that in their heads, and stop wanting to get inside the poor boy's pants (figuratively of course, because every hot blooded lady wants inside that jackpot literally!), then the pappz will back off and find another target.
I hate to see him like this: purposely making himself look boring and miserable. I think it's a ploy. Problem is, if you make yourself wear that mask all the time, you eventually start actually feeling the emotion.

ReplyDeleteI started believing in Robsten when I saw the pics from Paris (the holding hands but not really pics), if they're just playing around that means I got punk'd, big time. That said, I don't understand why everytime Rob is seeing getting out alone of somewhere that means he's taking one for the team, come on, don't you want to be alone every once in a while? Because I do, I go out alone and not even my boyfriend gets an invitation, I just like to be by myself. I also want to say that it's very funny people still believe every single thing posted on the internet, especially on tweeter. That's just sad.
