  2. He's so gracious, as always
But yeah, "awkward" definitely defines this video LOL
His face at the "mosquito" thing! hahaha and somehow I dont think he really appreciated the cake either.
He's the perfect gentleman though, totally Rob :)

  4. geeez the things they have to put up with...ridiculous
but as usual they were both charming and gracious

  5. I thought they were being charming, I wasn't embarassed for them. They seem to know that they're guests in a country with different customs and a different culture. I thought they were being polite and trying to play along, which I think they did well, both of them.

  6. I didn't get the thing with the mosquito. Like what is it supposed to mean? lol I think I need a break after seeing this... The weirdest moment of my/his life...

  11. WTF!? What a weird way to behave. Rob has the patience of a saint in this daft world he lives in. It's mad.

  12. I Think Rob was a little scared ... but still gorgeous ... LOL

  15. This didn't make me feel second hand embassessed at all. Don't know what the fuss was about. I feel much worse for Rob when he gets asked personal questions, that they know they shouldn't be asking. That's when I cringe!
I think Rob would have been fascinated and find this funny. He loves weird and crazy and he's said before he love the Japanese fans and Japan.

  16. Oye! That was painful! Of course our boys were ever the gentlemen :)

  17. Dear Rob, always nice, polite and the perfect gentleman!!! I hope he stays that way during his career!

  18. @gracefulgrace --> yeah, Rob maybe likes weird things, but as far as I noticed he hates being embarrased. And this awkward behaviour would definately make me embarrased, so I guess he must had felt at least uncomfortable.

LMAO when Chris gave them a hint how to answer the quiz question and when one o the girls pronounced it, it sounded like walterla :DDD

  19. Rob was very sweet with the cute girls, as was Chris. They handled the culture gap with grace.

  20. Oh my !! LMAO !! Poor Rob & Chris ! lol

Bless Rob's little cotton socks though for being such a good sport !

  21. Wow 20 sec wad all I could stand...

I know they are gracious but the crap they have to put up with is awful

  22. That was so incredibly funny at the weird mosquito part!!! I mean, what the heck was that about? I had tears from the hilarity and the akwardness. I wonder if he thought the cake was actually good. I wish I knew what they were all saying, as well.

  23. I would so pay to listen to Rob and Chris talk about this after they've had a couple of Heinekens.

Um, is all of Japanese TV shot and edited like the Final Fantasy video game? Holly Hale! I feel like I just spent two hours at an arcade and that video was only like two minutes long.

I know that a lot suffers in translation, so maybe in the Japanese version of Twilight Edward is a blood thirsty...mosquito?

Rod's facial expression says? "I shaved for THIS?"

  24. Ok, now I have to ask, what is it about Rob and mosquitoes? First in NM, now this, ha! Luv his bewilderment..

  25. I thought it was cute! Awkward, but cute awkward.

The youtube poster said "this mosquito thing is a famous gag in Japan. (not funny tho...) she did this to break the ice"

I think they were all adorable... culture gap and all.

  26. POOR ROB! And Chris too kind of.

What was the mosquito thing? Other than creepy, of course.

And why did he have to eat that weird "homemade cake"? Notice how they don't show Chris eating it? Yea...

I'm going to have to agree that that was really, hilariously awkward.

    ReplyDelete
  27. This was both funny and awkward! lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. That was hilarious, but damn, I love watching him eat

  29. OMF, this video cracked me the fuck up! How fuckin' juvenile can the girls get? I mean, did that one girl start to cry towards the end?

Poor Robert and Chris, always the perfect gentlemans.

  30. Asian girl are just so different then european girls (or american girls :) )
The screaming they make when they saw Robert..haha...together "aaaaaaah"
If it was me sitting there, i defently jumped in his arms and never let go.
And the handshaking at the end is not so normal for asian girls, they always fold their hands together and just bow, no physical contact...

  31. Oh man. I watched it twice. Poor Rob. Poor Chris. Wow. Awkward. He still pulled it off. I only wish I thought what he was thinking about the mosquito thing. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Rob did not like that cake...lol

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ha ha ha! The mosquito thing is so random! Rob and Chris were like "WTF?" LOL, I don't blame them. XD

    ReplyDelete
  34. Em-ba-ra-ssing!!! and Awkward!!!!
They didn't even know about Volterra. Where did they find these girls??

    ReplyDelete
  35. Have you noticed that after asking the questiona bout where the Volturi live, Chris says but in a muffed sentence: "they don't even know where they live", or am I the only one?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Actually it's Rob saying "My god, they can't even get it right" after re-watching.

  37. This is definitely different by western standards, but it's all about the 'cuteness' factor in Japan. This is really typical - definitely Lost in Translation. I'm sure Rob and Chris felt they were in some strange movie, but probably expected it. You should see see what Johnny Depp has had to go through ;)

I thought the girls were very sweet, though the girl on the left was obviously miffed she didn't get a Edward doll as well.

    ReplyDelete
  38. ok, W.T.F...lost in translation, for real!! Rob mumbling "oh, it's good!" through his mouthful of cake-LMFAO!! and his face during the mosquito thing was just priceless!

thanks for this, after the day I just had I needed that laugh! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks Tess - I don't think the cuteness factor was lost on Rob...she was adorable and it looked like they were having fun with it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Capucine: I believe Rob was saying, "Oh God, are they going to get it right?" He was not putting them down, but hoping they did know the answer. That's why Chris whispered it, to ensure the girls would get their 'prizes.' Fan and cultural response is different around the world, but neither Rob nor Chris would be rude enough to denigrate it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Aww! Well, I think Robert will remember this one, though. I think he enjoyed himself, more than when he's being asked the same questions all the time..

And the part with the mosquito-thing, it's smart way to get him to touch you! =D

And why do people always ask about Kristen and him being a thing.. Can't they just ask him if hes single.. ? :P

  42. Very very cute to watch Rob and Chris react and try to be polite and appreciative to the Japanese culture. Like others have mentioned, this is very typical of Japanese shows and interviews. The 'mosquito' landing on Rob's arm was far too hilarious, but topped off by Rob's very embarrassed imitation of another mosquito to land on the girls arm! The video isn't clear, but it really looked like he was blushing after that.
