I'm not sure if we should make posts like this... "No Robert Pattinson at Golden Globes", I mean did anyone think he was going to attend? If not should we make posts for every award show that he WON'T attend? It would make a LOT of posts.

ReplyDeleteNo reason for him to attend except to show his face on camera and the Globes just aren't big enough to pull him away from his break or if he is indeed in pre-production for Bel Ami.

If the Academy asks, YOU GO! That one is the grandaddy of them all and you show up unless you absolutely cannot. With the box office success of NM and the thinking that his presence may have helped boost ratings last year, I would imagine that he'll get another invite to present. That is if he can get time away from the Bel Ami set if he's still filming. With Kristen by his side? Don't know, but I think that would be lovely.
As for this drought...
Guys, it was only six weeks or so ago that NM was released preceded by a month of non-stop publicity. RM will be out in two months with more publicity and then comes Eclipse just 3 and 1/2 months after that. That will be three films in seven months. THIS IS NOT A DROUGHT! THIS IS A BOUNTY!
The drought will begin after Eclipse as he has no more films scheduled for release this year. I would imagine that the first film after Eclipse will be Bel Ami released sometime in the early part of or spring of 2011. Now that will be a drought of nearly a year. Although...
If early word on Bel Ami is good, good enough to compete during awards season (and with this story and this cast, it's very possible) then it could get a year end release. At least a release in NY and LA in order to qualify for awards season and then go to wide release in early 2011.
Enjoy this time. Jesus, if you can't get through seven months with three films, what the hell are you going to do when it's nearly a year before the next film?
Or am I mistaken here? Is the drought waiting for his films, or wanting -needing- papp pics of him?
Despair not. Once he hits the streets of Budapest to shoot the exteriors, the vultures will find him.

I'm actually glad that he's limiting his appearances, it just wouldn't be him if he showed up for all the hollywood stuff, just for the sake of making an appearance. I hate to say this, because of course I'd love to see him, too, but I actually wouldn't mind if he skipped the Oscars this year. Last year was sort of a novel, pleasant surprise - the new kid in town and was exciting and seemed appropriate- but it might seem out of place this year. Like it would make more sense for him to be too busy working on Bel Ami etal to fly to California...dunno..we'll see him soon enough, just my thoughts for the evening.

Couldn'e agree more, I can't fathom how they're going to pull off the darkness of this book and keep the tweens. Far as I know, it's still on but they're trying to secure financing (aparently the budget has ballooned to over 100 million) and trying to get everyone schedules gelled. I think it's gonna happen. Maybe not this year, but perhaps by early next.
Sex scenes in Breaking Dawn...
Don't hold your breath as they will not alienate their younger audience. Most we can hope for is a director's cut. I don't mean some deleted scenes on the DVD, I mean...A FULL BLOWN DIRECTOR'S CUT. They've done it on other films. Why not on this one? It's easy. You just film the needed scenes twice; a PG-13 version for the theatres and an R rated version for the director's cut. And you don't put this director's cut on the DVD. You sell it seperately. That way, kids aren't exposed to it and Summit makes even more money.
I really do think this is something the fans should BOMBARD Summit with.
