Believe it or not smoking in films is one way that kids and/or teenagers rationalize that smoking is okay. Movies that depict an actor smoking (almost) never show the negative effects of their decision (not even a cough or someone finding it disgusting and covering their face) which leads kids and teens to think it's acceptable or cool (especially if, in this case, they see Robert smoking and getting the girl they too will think they can do the same thing). There have been multiple studies done on the effects of smoking in movies and its effects on adolescents who see these movies and it's quite clear -smoking in movies does encourage smoking initiation. I, for one, am very happy that the MPAA is finally doing something about it and making it part of their rating criteria (though, most people who are gung-ho about the negative effects want to see smoking banned from all movies PG-13 and lower and reserve it for R movies only).
I'm really sad right now... I was hoping to see a bit of his butt!

gwen - your comments make me laugh, the way you refer to yourself in the 3rd person, it's like Elmo talk, i think it's hilarious. my mom was pretty strict too, had to find out about sex on my own, no sex talk in my house LOL.
Gwen-- you have no idea how much I can relate to that. But it wasn't just my mother, it was everyone's when and where I was 'growing up' (I'm often told I did not really grow up and that is fine with me).
I have a sense of privacy, of not minding others' business, invading their privacy, or seeing their parts normally covered, even if they volunteer it. (I am not only thinking of the eedjuts sans panties getting out of a car with legs splayed.) Some stars have come to regret exposing themselves, physically baring themselves to everyone. To me, seeing sex scenes, especially with nudity, is voyeuristic. You wouldn't go to your neighbour's home and watch them in bed (I hope) and I extend that to all human neighbours (to me, love your neighbour refers to all humans). That is one reason I prefer some things to be left to the imagination. Another reason is, I see a difference between humans and animals. Dogs and cats copulate out in nature, in front of others. Humans don't--or at least used to not (I remember someone on here posting about people now copulating in parks and other public places, like it adds to excitement. i find it sad that people have to do that for excitement). And for me, it has nothing to do with shame (although I am sure some are ashamed). It has to do with a sense of self and privacy, and guarding that which is intimate and private.
I know many don't agree with me; I just like to understand.

I am from a very different culture, and although I am considered to be too modern by most in my culture (I have internet in the home, TV, I watch some movies, listen to rock music, etc)I still am very much a part of this particular culture as opposed to the outside world. When the comments are too much for me, I sign off an do what I am supposed to be doing in real life. :-)I am actually writing a novel, and working on a song. Sometimes I just go to another thread. I like the conversation and comraderie, just not some of the language and comments.

I know we get a little crazy sometimes but it's all in good fun..all because of Rob... Plus there's so much love & trust between many if us here... It allows us to talk about our fantasies and just have fun & let loose...

solas - i was just wondering becuase i know sometimes it does get pretty bad here but i like to hear about different cultures, that's it.
adm - totally with you on that, it's like at times who's the parent and who's the kid. when there is a movie with a sex scene we have forewarn her and they at times we have to fast forward it LOL. but she does watch novellas and those get out of hand but that is ok because those are her stories LOL.
RPG, I so agree with you. In real life we are civilized adults (most of the time) we come here to be scandalous fangirls. Sharing an experience with new found friends.

When I saw New Moon, and it was the Friday it came out, there were a couple gasps and that's it. No screaming. They all did clap at the beginning and my mom and I made fun of them but at least they were respectful. I'd like to think it's because I live in the midwest but I dunno. I'm just proud, I think.
So, I'm guessing this means there is not going to be 3 scenes of..intimacy? Bah. No, it's okay. I still expect it to be a good movie. :D

I'm mostly with you. The environment during my youth was pretty unsexual. Even nudity was something to be ashamed of and we never had any sex talk with my mother. Of course I was expected to be with only one man during my whole life. In fact everything related to sex was practically tabooed on the whole territory of former Soviet Union territory.
But I'm improved by now as I think about myself. I like my own body and am comfortable with the other's mostly. However I prefer something to be left for imagination too. That's why I don't necessarily need to see Rob's butt on the big screen.

Sunshine-- thanks for your comment. Although I was raised similarly, I never thought of my body as something to be ashamed of, just private.
As an individual I developed differently even from my sisters-- I don't like my personal space invaded without permission-- when people come at me with arms open to hug, I used to cringe and want to escape. i take it much better now, endure it, but I would prefer to be hugged only by those whom I trust and who have my permission--if not verbally, then by association and understanding.
To me there is a difference between shame and embarassment: shame is feeling you have done something wrong, or that somethign wrong is going on; embarrassment is the discomfort of that which you want private made public, known. Personally, I love the body and the senses and sensations, the feeling of flesh with flesh, just in the right context.
It is a fine line that many cannot comprehend, when a society allows for casual nudity, casual touching without permission, but does not allow for 'peeping toms,' and, even worse, inappropriate touching of minors--or even of adults. It is very confusing for many to be taught that no one should touch you if you don't want it, and then be in a society where people accuse you of 'hang ups' if you dont want that touching in most cases.
I truly see a corelation between the breaking of fences and barriers of nudity, sex, porn, etc, and the invasion by paps. It is all part of the destruction of a sense of privacy.
Last (for now): Although I have heard some call it liberating and fun, I find it disappointing that women, who were objectified for so long, slurped over, drooled over, phantasized about with no clothing, etc, would now be objectifying men that way. It certainly is one way of equality, but not everything equal is right. Kind of like '2 wrongs don't make it right;' I would rather have seen humans evolve into a more respectful place where NO ONE is being objectified, degraded, used--even in thought--a place and time where beauty can be appreciated with diginity to both the viewer and the person or object, and human self and privacy is respected.
@LHR and RPL girls I like the way that you are thinking but soory for not naked rob but actually I cant promise that I wont do it mentally emily is a really lucky girl :)
