I truly hope that he can have a career akin to that of Johnny Depp in that he is able to pick and choose the roles he wants. I just seem him doing much more character driven roles and not necessarily blockbuster types of things.
Whaddadoo, Martini! and ITA. He didn't really know that he was getting himself into a blockbuster series, so Twilight was kind of a happy accident. I see him picking movies based on his interest in the role and the script, and not because he needs to get his face out there. (um, I think we're aware already! LOL)
He's said before that he's got no interest in selling out, he'll stay true to himself, I'm sure.

Although I'm encouraged because he's said that he's been trying to write some stuff, and he seemed a little envious of Bobby and Sam (and Marcus? not sure) that they are all working on their first albums. He's afraid of the backlash and snarky comments that he'll almost certainly get from naysayers, but he should know that his true fans would be nothing but appreciative and even more adoring if he did it!
Although maybe THAT'S why he's hesitating! hahaha Doesn't want to get us any more stirred up than we already are.
RPL--saw the interview where he said he was p*ssed his friends were making albums--and you know critics would do exactly that--oh, that Twilight guy thinks he can sing too--his voice was what drew me to him--had the soundtrack before i saw the movie(a tween lives at my house)LOL
hopefully when the movies slow down he'll have more time--i hope!

@Dina, I loved this "What was my life like before he opened the caffeteria door?". I truly laughed. So very true, but as I've quoted another commenter before (and I'm really paraphrasing here). CH may have (wisely) chose him for the role of Edward, but it was God who sent him..to US!
I am very glad that he is getting some big time buzz for this movie. The best part is we know he delivers. I can't wait to see it. There is a midnight showing at 12:01 AM tomorrow, but I have to work so just can't be up all night. I will be there on Friday though. Can't wait.
Angie-K, I too am really excited for Water for Elephants. So glad Rob is going to make this film. Now if Summit would get off its duff and decide on a filming schedule for Breaking Dawn, he could get on with it. I am looking forward to everything he does. I want closure to Twilight and really need to see Breaking Dawn on the big screen with Rob and Kristen in the leads, but am also really excited about Water for Elephants. Great book and he will be a fantastic Jacob.
ITA ShariG - as much as I love the Twilight Saga, I know there is so much more ahead for Rob. He has a very good head on his shoulders and he is very particular about what roles he will take. I'm here for the long haul and look forward to everything he will do in the future.

Now back on topic, Well I think Robert has great staying power, and I really hope that he will continue to choose good roles.
I would hate for Robert to start choosing dull and unappealing roles that nobody really cares about, just to prove himself to some snobby critics, who most of the public pays no attention to anyways.
The public liking and seeing a movie is all that really counts, so I hope that Robert will continue choosing good/appealing stories that are romantic and dramatic and character driven. There is nothing wrong with being a talented and good looking actor who does romantic and dramatic roles. I see Robert being a heart throb and a talented character actor all wrapped into one delicious package.
I am really looking forward to WFE.
And I'm going to be seeing Remember Me either Saturday evening or Sunday during the day! Hopefully it won't disappoint...
