I've never actually seen Marie Antoinette, but heard that it was visually spectacular. I have a feeling that's where all the budget went. It sort of sounds like she was attempting to channel Quentin Tarantino for that one. Hmm.

Don't get me wrong, if we're objectifying men here, they'd both be on my mantelpiece, but I'm not sure you'd get a sensible conversation out of Canoe that would last beyond discussion of his career. At least Rob talks about tropical diseases and other stuff. If I got to have a proper conversation there's so much I'd like to gauge his opinion on, and I bet he could talk all week about it.

Whatever he's like as a person, Joaquin blew me away as Johnny Cash. I thought his interaction with Reese Witherspoon was wonderful (mind you, she totally deserved the Oscar).

Do you really think BD would be Gus Van Sant's bag? I've said this before, the plot is completely out there, some of it it just bizarre. I fell about laughing at some of it when I read it. Really loved that Nicole Kidman film he did. Was it "To Die For"? Also Milk and Good Will Hunting. Just doesn't seem a good fit IMHO.
Fifty: Yes, To Die For. I think GvS singlehandedly resurrected Matt Dillon's career (another of my 'Hmm's, btw) in that. Joaquin was in that one, too!
I would love love love to see Rob in a GvS movie some day soon, but not in BD. Well, I'm not really that keen to see BD made at all, whether it's one or two films. I agree with you, bits of it were laugh-out-loud, and not in a good way. It had its moments, of course, but I've always felt it was a book that SM was pressured to write.
Re: BD the book. But ballsy to write the ending as she did, especially if the film rights for the first three were already being fought over. [Am I right in my timings, or out?]

Thanks, rpattzgirl. I read that too. I am a little bit hoping for Sofia Coppala mainly because I think New Moon was missing a woman's touch. In the quest for more action and to bring in male fans I think it lost a little bit of the heart of the love story. Just me probably. Gus Van Sant is fantastic too. Glad Summit is going to go for a great director for Breaking Dawn.
Speaking of his hands ~ 'Remember Me' is full of Rob-porn-hands... I almost couldn't help myself when he held the wine glass at the restaurant... GAH! =)
