Robert Pattinson in your local pub!

Pattinson Will Take a Pub Over A Premiere

You won't see heartthrob Robert Pattinson spending money on extravagant homes or fancy cars or flitting from one red carpet to another.

"That’s not my scene," he told me at the recent BAFTA Award ceremony in London. I’m more than happy to do the normal things and buy the things I bought before all this madness kicked off."

In fact, the 23-year-old actor, known among British media as "Our Patz," said he was stunned to open the tabloids and find pictures of himself "buying underwear at my local store."

"These guys must be hiding in the rails or something," he said of the paparazzi. The star of the "Twilight" movies, born in West London, said, "I didn’t go into acting because I wanted to be famous, I got into acting because I loved the creation and the making of good credible drama. Fame is just an extra added on."

Back in London to film "Bel Ami" with "Kill Bill" star Uma Thurman, Pattinson admits that he is unsure of what to do at premieres and other red carpet events. "Although I like meeting fans and love the response from them," he said, "I’m far happier going down to my local pub, having a drink and sitting chatting to friends. That’s when I’m most relaxed."

Pattinson also expressed admiration for his "Remember Me" co-star Pierce Brosnan, known to audiences for many years as cinema's James Bond.

"You get to learn so much from these people," Pattinson said, "and Pierce has always been an acting hero of mine."

  4. Hi RPL, rpg, angie!! Thank god for the sweet sixteen that is keeping my dh occupied.

I just cringe when I think of those underwear buying pictures. I mean really, how sad and pathetic are these people? If that had happened to a "regular" person, especially a woman, they'd be looking at a restraining order and a night in jail. I'm glad he doesn't let it get to him too much.

This was a great little interview and just reinforces all the reasons I adore him. Thank you Kat!

  5. I totally agree! hopefully a few drinks in him and he would allow me to take advantage of him haha ;)

  6. Hey, Emily! I just signed off twitter, don't think I'll be here long but it's good to see you! :)

so what do you think of Waxy Rob? :P

    ReplyDelete
  7. Aww...you're not sticking around?

Waxy Rob is okay. I really don't think it's THAT bad but yeah, nothing like the original. Of course, perfection is hard to duplicate. :) Yesterday Sarah made a comment like it looks like someone who, if you saw them in the store, you'd be like, "Holy crap, that guy looks like Rob Pattinson." But then after staring a minute, you'd keep on walking.

How are you? Any word on RM?

  9. I know it's not going to be there at least until April 1st, don't know after that yet. It sucks!

  10. HI everyone! I too am only saying Hi. I must get some sleep. Family arriving tomorrow.

I agree with Emily. This is exactly why we love Rob.

I was hoping he would never find out about the underwear pics. Too much to hope for. Darn it!

  11. thanks, angie! wow, she would be so excited! we were debating between California and Florida, this may have clinched it. :)

  12. Hi, ADM! I know, that must have been embarrassing to find out. :(

    ReplyDelete
  13. RPL - we've been to both...We liked FL better

  14. RPL, Disney World in Florida is one of my favorite places. If I could go in the Haunted Mansion with Rob, I could die happy. LMAO!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I was hoping that too, ADM. Have fun with your family! I hope it's a good thing they're coming? :)

That sucks RPL. April 1st isn't too far off though. How's the spoiler avoiding going? It's almost like you can't read anything.

We still need to get our weekend chat in.

  16. well, that means that I've got to let DH win! LOL Now we just have to figure out if he can ever get away from work to actually go.

  17. Disney World, RPL? Sounds like a blast! My daughter would be SO excited. Maybe someday...

  19. Emily, there was a comment on the NM photo thread last night that spoiled the ending for me-I was so pissed. I suppose it was inevitable, seems like it's too big a secret for anyone to keep quiet!

oh well, I'll still love it, I'm sure, if I ever get to see it! :)

  20. LOL @ going in the Haunted Mansion with Rob!

  21. Night, angie! :)

Emily, yeah, I was sharing photos of my kiddo on twitter and we were talking about how into Disney princesses she is. She'll be beside herself if/when we ever get to go!

  22. Goodnight angie!!

Are you serious RPL?? UGH!! I hate spoilers and I still hate Matt Lauer. Stupid people. I'm sorry. You're right, you'll still love it.

Did everything get spoiled? Or just..hmm...I'm not sure how to ask without spoiling even more. Never mind.

  23. She's loves Cinderella, right? Mine too. I think if we go to Disneyland it's not going to be for a least a couple more years. I want her to be old enough to remember it. Right now she's pretty content to watch the movie over and over.

  24. @ RPlover I hadn't seen RM yet either and I saw that post too and it wasn't even just a hint of the end it was just blatantly the end flat out! I was so upset when I saw that because I have tried to be spoiler free too

    ReplyDelete
  25. By the way, why was there a comment about Remember Me on the NM thread? Was it just out of the blue?

    ReplyDelete
  26. SPOILER ALERT!!!!

I already knew that it was about 9/11, couldn't get away from knowing that thanks to interviewers, but the comment told what happens to Tyler, no details, just how he ends up. I'm really bummed that I wasted all that time staying unspoiled! Trying to remind myself it's just a movie. ;)

  27. Hey emily I just saw your profile and saw you are from SLC I am in clearfield!

  28. I'm sorry Netra!

I was a total RM virgin until the Today show interview. That made me so mad.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Netra, I'm sorry! Me too. :(

Em, yep, pretty much just out of the blue! RPG talked me down, though. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah I know cause Matt Lauer let that cat out of the bag! but I know my jaw seriously dropped when I read that post. Then laughed when I saw your response

    ReplyDelete
  31. That pisses me off RPL. People know not everyone has seen it yet. Yeah, it's hard to avoid spoilers but to just flat out say how the movie ends is rude and thoughtless. Maybe they need to put up another spoiler thread.

But yeah, you'll still love it. It's beautiful and heart breaking.

    ReplyDelete
  32. if it weren't for Rob I probably wouldn't want to see the movie anymore since I know the ending now

    ReplyDelete
  33. Netra, you should have seen the comment I wrote right away! It was too mean, I didn't post it-but I wanted to. LOL

It's not even opened nationwide, not to mention worldwide yet! Just totally thoughtless to post that comment, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Matt Lauer totally let the cat out of the bag. For me, anyway. A lot of people said it wasn't that big of a spoiler but it was more than I wanted to know. I've watched it again and you can kind of tell by Rob's reaction he was thinking, "Nice one, Matt...uh, spoiler alert!"

    ReplyDelete
  35. LOL, I can probably watch that interview all the way through now! Stupid Lauer.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Very thoughtless RPL. I totally agree. I've thought about whether or not I would have seen RM if Rob wasn't in it. I don't know....I hope so. It's a wonderful movie and it moved me. There's still so much to the movie besides how it ends. Lots of events that make you love all the characters.

My brother works at a university here and they got a bunch of posters for RM for some reason. I guess there was a advanced screening they were somehow connected with. Anyway, he told me he was going to give me one. Yay! Not that I can do anything with it except know that I have it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Cool! I've heard of some people putting their posters on the inside of their closet doors. :) My DH would still have a fit, I think!

    ReplyDelete
  38. ok, I think I really am going to have to go now...I work early tomorrow. :(

But hopefully we can get our weekend chat in! We'll have to see if we can get ADM on board. Have a great night!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'll get you one if you want and mail it to you. But I don't want you to get in trouble with your hubby. :)

Mine will probably just stay rolled up somewhere. Just like my magazines that I buy and then keep under the bed.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sweet non Waxy Rob dreams to you!!

Have a good day at work tomorrow!

    Can't wait to chat soon!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm just popping in because I'm on twitter right now. But I totally would rather be comfortable and relaxed sitting enjoying the atmosphere of a pub over screaming fans any day. But on the other hand it is a great pick me up. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ok... Love how the article refered to Rob as "Our Pattz" as opposed to "RPattz"

    ReplyDelete
  43. That devil-horn hair-do always makes me smile. :-)
    Good succinct interview.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love how Rob is so down-to-earth. Hope he never changes, although he deserves to buy some expensive things because he's totally earned them!

    ReplyDelete
  45. would love to sit and talk--his mind is fascinating--very intelligent man--

  46. Ha Ha I read this as...
