ReplyDeleteRobCob looks every bit the dirty dandy. It's odd to say, because I've always talked about always seeing him as each individual character he plays and not Rob as Edward or Rob as Tyler. But, here, I seriously barely recognize him. I mean, I recognized him, because he's Rob and I'd know hime at 100 paces blindfolded. But, I cannot get over it...just utterly beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI read the book because I knew Rob was going to make the movie, and I liked it, but I gotta say - from these pictures, he is really going to pull this off! Not that I ever doubted the man, but before the hair cut I tried to picture "Edward" as Jakob and that wasn't going to work. He may break out with this role and be able to show the Twilight haters he really does have what it takes! On the plus side for all of us, he does look so hot!!!!! :)

Does anybody know what kind of accent Jacob is supposed to have? I can't wait to hear it.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Jacob is American with a Polish background, so he'll probably just be using an American accent. I don't remember the books specifying if he was born in Poland or not, as I read it quite a while ago.

Jacob is an second-generation american but he does have to speak Polish - especially to Rosie. There is also a scene, if they keep it in, where Jacob sings a little in Polish...very poignant.

I live in Fillmore where they were filming today (actually 3 miles from my house). It has brought much excitement to our little town. As residents, we are used to filming here all the time (Bones, Big Love are the main ones)so if there is a lot of talk here about it, it is a big deal for us.
ReplyDeleteI was excited this morning to have filming start. I went down to the train yard a few days ago where they were storing and painting the train cars. The train whistle from the steam engine woke me up at 5:30 this morning and all I can think of is Rob is in town. I am going to ride my bike down to the set tomorrow to see if they are using that one or the one by Piru.
I am just hoping to catch a glimpse of Rob while he is in town.
He looks INCREDIBLE in these photos - like another person. This different hair cut really is perfect for this role and his face is even more gorgeous than ever.

@Fantasizing ......I like this look much better than Bel Ami. He was always so cross looking and mean and firm in Bel Ami.......here he looks fresh, young, relaxed and happy .........just GORGEOUS.

ReplyDeleteOkay, I know we say this everytime he starts a new film, or press junket, but THIS movie really is going to be my early death. I, for one, LOVE the short hair. Now seeing it in character, on set, I am experiencing serious arrythmias and there is no one around to revive me when I arrest... oh well... I especially love the ankles peeking out between pants and top of boots. Anyone else? I am not going to make it through this. I'm just not.

ReplyDeleteYou know what this movie reminds me of? Is that movie named Buddy. Well it's about a baby gorilla, but the thing that reminds me is the animals and the era of the movie, I think it was in the '30s too, but there wasn't a good looking guy like rob in the movie.

He looks great. I can not express in words how wonderful it is that an actor so chooses different roles. This is just so admirable. Perhaps that explains why I'm so addicted to Rob. I love these books, other time periods, the costumes, etc.

ReplyDeleteWell. I was thinking that because this is such a big and complicated production that it would take them at least 12 weeks and possibly as much as 16 to finish this. But someone the other night said they read where this was suppose to wrap the second week of July which is in about seven weeks. It took them longer than that to film each of the Twilight films and Bel Ami. Remember Me, a film with simple scenes, no big complicated shots and no ELEPHANTS, took seven weeks.
So if they can finish this one in that same amount of time, then they've have streamlined filmmaking to such degrees, that I haven't heard of it (which doesn't really mean anything).
So I'm still going with a wrap of sometime in August. And with 8 months being about the shortest post production they could do, this could possibly be in the theatres by late spring 2011...at the earliest. And that's a real possibility. However...
If the studio thinks they've got a winner here, I wouldn't be surprised if they hold it until fall of 2011 to keep it fresh in voters minds for the upcoming award season of 2012.
When this is released (spring or fall) will be a big indication of what it is the studio thinks they've got on their hands.
Just like with Bel Ami. The buzz is, this is going to get a limited release in December before going wide in early 2011. Why? Because the studio thinks they've got a film that can complete during the awards season.
It's just buzz. Nothing's been confirmed.

ReplyDeleteIt's amazing ~ his transistion in characters and roles in the films he'd chosen. You emphatize with him, you feel for him. He carries the audience with him in a roller coaster ride of emotions.

ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how just a short while ago we saw pics of Rob filming Bel Ami, as a high society character, dressed all prim and proper with top hat and tails, now just a few weeks later, he's playing someone that's joined a circus living in a train car, quite a switch. But then that's acting.
ReplyDeleteI do wish the papz would back off and not be so annoyingly invasive, I have considered that Rob's co-stars could get more than just a little upset with the "attention" that he seems to follow him, and take it out on him, I'm sure some of them can be real jerks, but then you can appreciate their side of this too, it's damn distracting. But I'd hate to think that Rob might have to take the fall for it, and/or hurt him for future jobs. It's not like he wants all that attention.
Pappz are definitely a distracting and annoying group,,, no good words for them at all... But, their presence, and the publicity they generate are not necessarily a bad thing for the producers and all others making a profit from this film, including the actors. Afterall, we are looking at their pictures, day to day; a guilty pleasure, no doubt.
ReplyDeleteSorry, there's no doubt they are a huge pain in the ass for everyone concerned, but there is no need to jump to the conclusion that others will not want to work with him, now or in the future, because he draws a crowd, with or without the photos.
One big reason why he doesn't have to audition for roles is that he is so internationally popular (beautiful and talented) and draws a large and dedicated following to his projects. Why would that be a problem for others working with him?
