Robert Pattinson's Long Lost Relative Revealed

Robert Pattinson's Long Lost Relative Revealed

Yes some people have done their "research" (not well enough I'm thinking but there you go) and you'll never guess who it is, seriously go on guess. Are you ready ??

"Robert Pattinson and Dracula are distant relatives"

So the Assoicated Press & Reuters tell us.

I think I can see a resemblance around emmm........ the..... emmm..... chin.

Robert Pattinson isn't the only famous vampire in his family.

Genealogists say the 24-year-old "Twilight" star is related to Vlad the Impaler, widely cited as the inspiration for the main character in Bram Stoker's "Dracula."

Researchers at Ancestry.com discovered that Pattinson and the Transylvanian leader (real name: Vlad III Dracula) are connected through their relationship to the British royal family. Prince William and Prince Harry are Pattinson's distant cousins; (Kate: Huh? What? First I've heard of that!) Vlad the Impaler was their distant uncle.

"Tracing Pattinson's family back to Vlad was difficult research, but the pieces that unraveled created the perfect accompaniment to the Twilight Saga," said Anastasia Tyler, a genealogist at Ancestry.com. "Without any myth or magic, we find royalty and vampires lurking in Pattinson's life — making his story just as supernatural as the one he's playing on screen." (Kate: I think that's meant to say supernatural fiction)

Also connected to the prince's lineage and therefore to Dracula? Stephenie Meyer, the author of the "Twilight" series. (Kate: Aah come on now!)

Pattinson isn't the only movie star whose past bears an eerie resemblance to his screen persona. Last year, Ancestry.com said that actress Emma Watson, who plays teen witch Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" movies, is related to a 16th century woman accused of witchcraft. (Kate: Enough already)

Thanks to Kim, Susan & Sunitha for the tip!

  2. The article itself is rubbish as SluttyPattz says. What bothers me though is that they call Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler in English) Dracula. He was a good ruler, but had weird ways of punishing his enemies...

  7. On the one hand, it sounds absurd and pure fiction trying to be made into fact. On the other hand, so many people really ARE related somehow to those they never would have thought of as related or even apropos in their lives, sometimes with amusement or irony. Family of slaves descended from a writer of rights; at least one US president (Clinton)descended from or related to British royalty.
I don't know where the Translylvania connection comes in re Rob, but I would be interested in seeing the origins of that. And I can see, somehow, that his family would be from royalty.
I myself am descended from King David, pretty funny for a girl who writes songs and gently shepherds. :-)

  8. This is wrong in so many ways. Starting with the fact that Vlad the Impaler (contrary to general opinion) was actually ruler of Wallachia, not Transylvania. In fact, in that period of time Transylvania used to have Hungarian princes as rulers, if I'm correct. I don't know for sure if he was or wasn't a relative of the British Royal family, though I highly doubt it considering the fact that Romania never really had anything to do with the United Kingdom, politically speaking. The country's international affairs in that period were mostly limited to our neighbors.

And aside from this... nowadays' press is full of crap.

  9. for crying out loud...just another way some smart marketing suit thought up to link RP with their pay-to-know website.

we're all related and descended from someone going all the way back to the first humans.

Make it a great day, Cousins!!

  12. They even had this on the 11pm news last night. Ugh. Anything to mention Rob for ratings.

  13. I have not checked into Rob's genealogy, but just might. It would be fun! I have been doing genealogy for over 25 years and have learned the most amazing things about my ancestors and those whose lines I have researched. Don't scoff too much, it might be true. Me and at least another million or so people are distant cousins of Prince William and Prince Harry. But I'm related on Diana's side so darn Vlad is not in my tree (at least as far as I know at this point).

  14. Sadly, I think a lot of the Scots and northern English are related to the British royal class by dint of the first night rites/rghts forced upon the Catholics a few centuries ago, although that probably would not show up in any family tree. But you are right, olejp; thousands are related somehow to the royal famlies, at least as distant cousins.

  16. The last King of Romania, Michael is a great-great-grandson of Queen Victoria by both of his parents and a third cousin of Queen Elizabeth II.
    Just a though...

  17. Oh my god. What I would give to be the one to tell Rob about this one. I doesn't top the story about HIM being pregnant, but it's up there. I can just picture his reaction...just like when that girl asked him about his "shirt misbuttoning" on Jimmy Kimmel last year.

  18. Cucumber news. Sad they try to make money over Rob's back.

  19. cucumber news? What does that mean?

  20. haha, such a bull crap!!!this vampire thing will haunt him forever!! i would really love to listen what Rob has to say about this))

  21. I think the more unlikely event would be Robert Pattinson related to George Bush... as stated elsewhere in another version of this same story.

  22. @solas

When the cucumbers are in season, there's no news (due to vacation in many sectors). So the media has to make up stories to fill the pages.

  23. Thanks Patti! that is so interesting! how do you know these terms? Are they commonly known in any particular culture/ from any specific medium or program?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah. There could be 'some' truth here. I've heard before that Rob is distantly related to the Royals. Not unusual as many commoners are.

Diana Spencer, a commoner, had more royal English blood in her than Charles did as the Windors are more German than English. And both were/are descendents of Queen Victoria.

All the royal houses of Europe are connected through blood to Queen Victoria and her 12 offspring. So...yeah. It's possible.

I don't know. If true I think it would be fascinating. That he fell off the same family tree from the person that was the inspiration for vampires and then centuries later, he becomes world famous for portraying one.

    Stranger things have happened.

As for how Vlad the Impaler got his moniker?

You don't wanna know. Freakin' gruesome it was.

    ReplyDelete
  25. If this is true, that is seriously insane. Vlad the impaler, related to Rob. That's nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think a lot of us who went to school know how he got his name. And if Rob is related at all, it is very indirectly.

  27. @solas

Just translated it literally from my mother tongue, guessing it would be an English expression too...

    Gladly Wiki backed me up...
