He's a true artist who wants to reach his boundaries and not just another "star" who sells his good looks and will be forgoten in a few years time. ReplyDeleteYou know what's scary about this photograph? No wait. You know what's scary about this man in general? (and I'm serious here) His youth. Men in their 20's are still in the process of maturing into the MEN they're going to become and usually don't come into their full sexual maturity until they hit about 35, give or take. But this one? He showed up a smoldering, fully sexually mature looking heart breaker at just 22. Why is it do we think that grown women have lost their shit over him? Because he looks like a MAN. Oh girlies...hang onto your garter straps. Me thinks this one has just peeked his head out of the box. Lord God help us all once he rips the lid completely off.

I knew he wasn't a flash in the pan. That he would survive the over the top fame, the mockery of the iconic character that brought him that over the top fame, the criticism of his abilities, the scorn of other men, all of the bullshit that his detractors have said he wouldn't be able to overcome...he has and he will. True movie stars only come along a handful of times in a generation and I'm talking of those who come to define their generation. Robert Pattinson is one of those. Trust.

You are right - he has got IT, the X factor or whatever you want to call it. You can't train to have it, there are no books telling you how to get it, you are born with it. I agree, very few have ever had IT - Marilyn definitely, Paul Newman arguably, Steve McQueen ??, but Rob has IT and that is why he is the man of the moment. At the LA bash, in the company of Tom Hanks, Jack Nicolson and Cameron Diaz, who was headline news - Rob. But the best thing is that he still has a zero ego, his head hasn't got any bigger and he is still the lovely, gentle, selfless soul that he was at the start of all this craziness. But then...another moment like this comes along, he stops me in my tracks and I literally have to catch my breath. Because there IT is. There's the legendary movie star in the making staring back at me. It's fascinating really. How he can go from scruffy, hobo Rob to mesmorizing movie star with the flip of a switch. That's what the great ones can do. Can't be learned. Can't be taught. It's just who they are. It's why they're so damn special. Not better. But special. Extrodinary creatures. It's why they're worshiped.

Rob reminds me of Clark Gable in Gone with the Wind, he owned the room when he walked into that plantation. I love the scene where he tells Scarlett, "You need to be kissed, and often, by someone who knows how!" OH yeah, Rob is definitely going to be among their company of extraordinary gentlemen:)

ReplyDeleteWell, I always tend to believe that we're biased (of course we are ) and that we only see the one in our bubble. For example: Rob is hardly news in the magazines and tabloids in my country where they still stick with the classic stars à la Pitt, Clooney, Depp.

ReplyDeleteYeah, already read it. I got mine too, bought the German DVD as well because of the extra material (Berlin premiere, B-Roll, Extra Interview with DC and Rob). But on the French Blu Ray there was this almost two hours long Making of, that's why I got that too last month. Have you already watched the extra interviews??? I like Rob's a lot, really interesting :))

ReplyDeleteI think he'll age well, because it's not a given. I've found Leonardo very handsome and sexy at the time of Titanic, but I've watched recently the trailer of The Great Gatsby and I think he doesn't age well. It's not his fault, but his 'babyface' that was cute at the time has become a bit too round and fat (can't find the right description). Rob's face will get stronger and stronger with time.

It's the Extra Interviews I mean, they were taken on Berlin press junket I think... really good. The on set interviews and the whole B-roll was included in the long making of, so you'll see a bit of it at least :)

ReplyDeleteI was only thinking last night about his Details photoshoot Nik. What was he 22-23 then? What other guy of that age could pull that off?
ReplyDeleteSame! We hardly get any coverage and even his Sydney premiere didn't get anywhere near the publicity it should have and still those other boys get more publicity than Rob. BUT maybe for Rob that's a good thing, he's hounded enough....

I thought I would buy the movie today (the premiere in Poland was on Monday and also Bel Ami), but the movies weren't available. What a bummer :((( I will try my luck on Friday. Of course I am happy you enjoy your ride with Eric :)
