ReplyDeleteRob really seemed relaxed during this interview. I loved the thing about Rob smiling as Edward. Summit would have made the biggest mistake ever. Edward was written for a young Rob! The franchise was a good place for the young actors to hone their acting skills.

ReplyDeleteI'm really not trying to hate on anyone, but I honestly feel that if it wasn't for Rob, Twilight would have not been as huge. He owned Edward. Stephenie didn't even write him as well as Rob played him. They way he looked at Bella.... I think Rob and Kristen had great chemistry, and I'm thankful to her for pushing Catherine to cast him, but really, there could have been a different actress as Bella and it wouldn't have changed the popularity. Taylor too. If he had been recast in New Moon, some might have ben angry but they would have gotten over it and still loved the series. Rob is really the only one who could not have been changed. Twilight didn't make Rob, Rob made Twilight. Just watching HP GOF, you could see his star in the making, it was only a matter of time!

ReplyDeleteI am giggling here after watching this interview because I totally agree with you. This guy was over the top. I kept thinking of the line from the great Molly Shannon movie, Superstar, where she goes, "Your enthusiasm is a little overwhelming!" It would be extremely hard to do a press junket going from interviewer to interviewer for hours at a time, while trying to be polite, entertaining and fresh, answering the same type of questions over and over again. Especially for basically the same character and 5th movie. I can imagine doing the Cosmopolis press junket with David C. was like a breath of fresh air. I can't wait for him to be able to promote his new films.

ReplyDeleteAnd I loved the bit in the MTV interview where he finally says that he is responsible for Kristen's career. The reason I like this in particular was because he expressed confidence and took ownership. I agree with you in saying that 'Rob made Twilight'. If it wasn't for Rob I don't think I would have bothered to watch it.
