ReplyDeleteI don't know how, I don't know when but...I think there needs to be some kind of special acknowledgement from this fandom for it's biggest fanboy, Josh Horowitz. From the getgo and in the face of the critical slaughter and the media mockery (especially from other men), Twilight and Rob Pattinson have not had a bigger champion than Josh. Unlike so many in the media, where all of this is concerned, he knows his shit; the books, the films, the fandom (he gets it and HE was the one who brought up ROBsessed) and Rob's career beyond (up at Sundance he was talking up Cosmopolis, questioning Paul Giamatti about the rumours he was exiting the film because Rob had just been announced as replacing Colin Farrell and Paul said...no, he was in and that he was gonna get to the stalk the most beautiful man in the world). I dunno. I think we need to find some way to say thank you to Josh (hell, the studio should give him a percentage cut of the backend as a thank you). Just a thought.

Robert has a LOT of spare time, of course he reads fanfiction! Why wouldn't he, he's the lead role in most of the better ones! Maybe they could make a movie about it!

I so hope that`s true :) Funny thing that last week one of my business studies teacher colleagues taught FSOG as a case study in a marketing and promotion class. After finding this out I must have gone on for half an hour about MOTU and other ff that have been published, about how on-line fan sites (like this one) spread the word etc...I think she thought I was mad and somewhat perverted. Oh that teacher is also my boss so I kind of hoping that I keep my job at the end of the year!

And I love the idea of a gold-plated Robward action figure (look like Ken dolls to me) as the trophy which I think Mr. Josh would proudly display on his mantle. Gotta do somethin'.
And I about tumbled off again when he admitted to having read MOTU. Can you belieeeeve that pervert? LOL! I knew he'd read some fic cos he'd mentioned that he had but I always wondered if he'd gotten around to this one. Well, if he was checking up on ROBsessed, then he knew about it allright (remember when the blog would go quiet cos Icy had updated and people would hollar, 'FIFTY ALERT...LATERS BABY). Who knows, maybe he logged on one night, dressed up like a horny woman and joined the NB's in the RROP. ReplyDeleteI've read a LOT of fanfic & many of the Edwards in the stories are very much a combination of the Edward of the books, Robert as Edward in the movies & Robert himself. The best stories capture the gentleness, humour, sweetness and gorky gorgeousness of Robert, mixed with the reserve, devotion and determination of the written Edward. There will never be another Edward, the Edward of the movies is so much Robert, and that combined character is what is in the fanfic that I love. Many of them describe Robert's physical characteristics in their portrayal of Edward.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't think the Edward described in MOTU was the Robert/Edward, although I liked that story more than Fifty Shades. The lead character in that was one messed up man, and that isn't Robert.
It is great to be able to appreciate Robert as other movie characters too, and especially just as him-beautiful-self. I look forward to lots more.
I was generally speaking..of course I know that MOTU Edward has nothing to do with the Twilight Edward.
